Others talking from afar

Let's begin...

Planeptune, the land of purple progress, as they call it. The sunset painted the sky orange, signifying that night was on its way. Outside the Planeptune's Basilicom lies a forest after just a few minutes of walking.

A figure could be seen walking.

Her lilac hair was actively fighting the wind as it was pushing it back; she had a D-pad button on her head and a white collar on her neck. She wore something that resembled a white jacket dress with a yellow ribbon, long socks with pink stripes, and white shoes.

If it wasn't obvious by her looks, she was the former CPU Candidate of Planeptune, also known as Nepgear or Purple Sister.

She's currently known as Purple Heart and is the CPU of not just Planeptune but the whole Gamindustri as a whole.

Her footsteps softly echoed through the forest as she walked in silently, lost in thought. She had a somber look on her face. Her tired eyes told many stories, most of which weren't pleasant. They also reflected exhaustion and pain deep inside.

She walked for some time until she came to a clearing with a statue in the middle. She slowly approached it before stopping in front of it. The statue figure was looking down with closed eyes. She had long twintail braids with circular pieces of 'X' on her head, and she was wearing a purple skin suit.

She was Purple Heart, the former CPU of Planeptune.

And also Nepgear's older sister.

There was writing in front of the deceased CPU that read:

{ 'In the memory of the CPU of Planeptune, who lost her life while fighting the Deity of Sin along with the other fallen CPUs' }

This may seem noble to whoever comes across it, but it was far from the truth. The people were made to believe that their CPUs lost their lives in battle with the Deity of Sin, but the dark truth was hidden from the public, and in its place was a false cover-up story about the CPUs sudden disappearance.

Only a select group of people knew the truth behind the CPU's deaths; one of them was Nepgear.

And how could she not?

After all, she was the one who took her own sister's life with that cursed sword, along with the other CPUs as well, when they had no other choice. All in the name of protecting Gamindustari from Arfoire. They all sacrificed themselves to protect Gamindustri, and she was left to lead all nations under one flag and keep it peaceful.

She had the burden of the whole world on her shoulders.

Many years have passed since then, and with the Deity of sin having long since vanished, Gamindustri should have been at peace. Keyword: should have.

This place brought back memories of the two sisters, both pleasant and unpleasant. This is the place where the sisters used to hang out when she was young... The same place where she took her own sister's life away and where they spent their last moment together.

"Hey, sis..." Nepgear took a deep breath before looking up at her sister.

"It's been awhile, huh?" She didn't expect any reply, but she didn't care. She sat on the ground and began ranting to her sister as if she were listening to her.

"I wish I could say things were doing well, but... They're not." She sat down and made herself comfortable.

"Things have been very stressful lately. I've been drowning in work; it's mostly paperwork, nothing new. And there seems to be more frequent attacks from monsters." She let out a sigh. "Histoire and Kei have been a great help. Mina too... when she feels like it."

"She really hates my guts." And can she blame her? She hates herself more than anyone after taking the lives of two innocent children. Rom and Ram... The imagery of the two girls breaking down, not wanting to die, would forever be burned in her head, as it would haunt her forever.

She took Blanc away from them... and then killed them in cold blood.

"As for Chika... She went missing. At first she locked herself in the basilicom, then... she vanished one day with no trace." She couldn't keep the only promise Vert asked her before she died. She was pathetic.

She had failed her.

"We're not sure if she's alive at this point… I…" She didn't want to know what fate had befallen her; she knew it wasn't pretty. Chika loved Vert with all her heart after reuniting with her after an agonizing three years of waiting.

And she took her away from her…

"Leanbox is crumbling after Chika disappeared."

"A rebellious group took over the majority of Leanbox and its Basilicom, so we had to evacuate the citizens immediately. The city turned into one big warzone, and most of it is in ruin."

"We're trying to reclaim it, but it's proven to be difficult; they have control over the whole city, and they are heavily armed. It will take some time before we drive them off, and we've yet to identify their leader." She kicked the dirt with her foot.

"They have set up hidden bases outside the nations; we're trying to locate them and take over them to prevent them from taking over as they have been attacking the nations and spreading terror." She felt her fist tighten. "All in the name of keeping their nation's name clear from my control."

"..."

"It's been lonely, you know." Her voice cracked, and she began feeling herself on the verge of breaking down.

"It's not the same without you. When we were together, everything made sense; now it doesn't…" She got up and looked at her sister.

"I miss you so much, sis... I don't know what to do..." Her eyes began tearing up as she never broke her sight off of her sister's face. "I wish you could be here so you can tell me that everything is going to be fine and comfort me. I need you." She knew it was wishful thinking, and she couldn't help but feel a bit selfish for saying it.

She hates this. She had never asked for any of this!

She never had the time to properly grow up… never had the chance to tell her sister she loved her one last time.

She feels lost… She feels alone.

She noticed that the sun had long since set and the sky had turned a deep shade of blue; she must have lost track of time in her mid-ranting. Nepgear wiped the tears from her face before taking a moment to regain her composure.

"Well, it's getting late... I should head back before Histoire gets worried. Goodbye, sis. I'll visit you again, I promise." She snuck one last glance before she left.

Nepgear decided to take a quick stroll in the city's downtown before heading back to the Basilicom. The city was known to be the most futuristic, but it was now quiet and almost inanimate.

Due to the frequent terrorist attacks that had been happening, most people were hoarding in their houses, especially at night. She didn't like the current atmosphere of the city; gone are the bustling streets filled with life and a sense of security. That is why she wanted to put an end to the rebellious group and get rid of them once and for all.

Of course, she knew that only taking them out wouldn't solve her problems magically, and things wouldn't go back to how they used to.

She wasn't naive.

The people still have different opinions about her; some are justifiable, others are questionable at best. Deep down, she knew she wasn't suited for leading all nations by herself since she wasn't ready to suddenly lead all four nations, but it was far too late for her to reconsider now. She has to live with it now.

W-We don't need CPUs to rule the nations!

A woman's voice broke Nepgear's train of thought, and she turned to see a woman giving a speech to a small crowd. Nepgear drew closer to listen but kept her distance because she didn't want to be seen.

The lady was admirably tall with long blue hair. She was wearing a black suit with a tie and glasses. She had an odd skull on her belt and hands.

The lady's name was Rei. Ryghts, the leader of the so-called 'Citizen Group'. But don't let her appearance fool you; looks can be deceiving. The woman lacked confidence, and she looked nervous while delivering her speech.

We humans... a-are capable of leading the nations without the C-CPUs too.

Nepgear did a background check on her just to be safe. Apparently, the lady was just a regular person with no powers or anything special, and she seemed to be the sensitive type and not the bravest.

Heck, she doubts she can even hurt a fly.

After making sure she wasn't posing any threats, Nepgear paid no attention to her or her group; they were the least of her worries. All they did was occasionally protest in front of her Basilicom, and while it was annoying at first, Nepgear turned a blind eye to them, and all her attention went to fighting the group that took over Leanbox instead.

At least they didn't resort to violence... yet.

Even if she went and silenced them, it would not help her reputation as a CPU, which is not exactly stellar to begin with at the moment. All she can do is suck it up until, hopefully, the group just gets tired and gives up on their cause at some point.

We need proper laws, not CPUs. They are just people with power, but any human can lead.

Nepgear had no idea why people followed her; she lacked leadership qualities and was not particularly charismatic. She doubts anyone would have followed her if things were different and if other CPUs were still around, but some people had a negative view of CPU, or more precisely, her. So they would rush to follow any moron as long as that someone led them.

With the recent attacks, she could not say she blamed them for thinking that, and it seemed they believed she could not handle the situation. She has doubts about herself sometimes.

Now that there's only one CPU, if we can combine our strengths together, we can change the world for the better without CPUs holding us back... Strength in numbers! We'll free Leanbox from those bad people together.

Nepgear decided to leave and head back to the Basilicom, not wanting to listen to any more of that nonsense. She saw one of the flyers lying on the ground. She bent down and picked up the paper before quickly scanning the headline.

'Let's make Gamindustri great again! Restore it to its glory with laws and order.'

She crumpled the paper into a ball before tossing it away. Those idiots don't know how much I'm doing for the sake of Gamindustri, and they want to get rid of me?! She didn't want to let her anger out, but she wasn't lying if she said she didn't consider giving those people a piece of her mind.

I should really head back; Histoire is probably worried that I'm late. She hurried back home.

She soon arrived at the Basilicom, which was the largest tower in Planeptune. The staff welcomed her as she entered the building. She took the elevator up and waited until the door opened. She was immediately greeted by Histoire, who was patiently waiting for her to arrive.

She was a fairy-sized girl sitting on a floating book. She had blond hair and blue eyes. She wore a purple dress with a green tie, and she had butterfly-shaped wings. She is a tome that is tasked with recording the whole history of Gamindustri; she also serves as the oracle of Planeptune.

"Nepgear! There you are. I was starting to get worried." She floated towards the purple-haired girl.

"Hello, Histoire. Pardon me for worrying you; I've lost track of time."

"Well, you're here now, so might as well."

"So onto business, are there any new reports from Kei today?"

"Yes. Kei had informed me earlier today that she plans to call sometime tomorrow to brief us on the matters that need our immediate attention."

"I see. I hope it's nothing too serious..." It will most likely be.

"Anywho, I'll head back and continue with the paperwork." Nepgear excused herself.

"No need. I already took care of most of them while you were away."

"I am sure there are still some left." She was about to leave when she was stopped by Histoire once again.

"Nepgear. You've been working excessively these last few days. Please take today off, I insist." She wasn't lying, as she looked like she hadn't had proper sleep for days, but she couldn't sleep knowing what kind of evil lies out there.

"Histoire, I can't rest while those terrorist groups are out there, causing... Havoc!"

"I am fully aware, but you won't be any good if you continue exhausting yourself like that."

"I'm fine—"

"Please, Nepgear..." Histoire interjected firmly yet softly before she could finish, and she gave her a pleading look. "I implore you. Just take this day to rest."

Nepgear did not respond; she was about to argue but gave in once she saw Histoire's pleading look. She bowed her head slowly before she quietly muttered, "Alright..."

"I just... I worry about you, Nepgear." She felt her hands get wrapped around the fairy's tiny hands. "You have a lot put on you."

"It's my responsibility now; the others entrusted me… the people… I can't let them down." She already had for some…

"Don't forget, I will be on your side no matter what you choose."

"I know... Thank you, Histoire."

"Please… Don't lose yourself out there." She pecked her forehead before leaving.

"..."

Nepgear deliberately made her way to her room without saying a word. As she entered the room, she took a quick glance around and felt a wave of nostalgia wash over her.

The room was mostly purple; there was a bunk bed and a wide window on the left with a city view. There was a tiny table in the center and two desks on the right; however, one of them was empty because she is the only one currently living here. Her sister's belongings were put in boxes and stored safely. She made sure to cherish them.

The room felt empty... Despite making a lot of effort to make sure that the room is spotless, she seems to be anticipating that her dear sister will return someday. But Nepgear knew it wasn't going to happen, but she kept doing it. She didn't know why.

Perhaps she was unable to accept the depressing reality that her sister had left forever.

She rarely slept in their room; she'd sleep in her office or workplace most of the time. She would spend a lot of nights restless, unable to sleep. Her sister's voice, along with her friends, is still haunting her in her mind, and she has experienced a lot of nightmares. As a result, she developed a bad habit of distracting herself by working excessively.

Nepgear wasn't feeling tired at the moment, so she might as well make use of her time. She left the room soon after and decided to head to her workplace and finish one of her projects that she had been working on for a while.

She sat down on her table; there was a portrait of her sister Neptune on it. She picked it up and examined it for a bit before setting it aside. The project blueprint included an illustration of a notebook labeled 'NEP-NOTE'.

Not the most original name she came up with, like her N-Gear. She knows.

The main function of it, aside from being able to record, is the ability to store things and even living beings inside the book regardless of their size, like a pocket-dimension prison. It can also allow access to the abilities of the captives.

Or... at least it's supposed to; it needs a few adjustments, not to mention it still has flaws she needs to get over.

Well, she was born a genius, after all. Though she wished it came with the knowledge of leading four nations.

Better get to it then... Nepgear opened her toolbox and began working on the book for several hours nonstop, and she was almost done. After a while, she felt herself getting tired until slowly darkness began covering her vision before she unconsciously drifted to sleep on her desk.

AN:

(Sorry, I had to reupload this story since there was an issue with the site saying that the story was unavailable or was not found. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks. It turns out I just had to wait and it will fix itself so that's fun...)

Hi,

Thanks for checking this story out! I hope you all enjoy it. This story is inspired by 'The First Change' and 'Memories' by Charlotte Eraviel on Fanfiction. Check them out if you have the time, and also check out his other story called 'Change the World'. They are extremely underrated stories. Anyway, this is my take on the conquest ending and mixing it with HDN Victory.

There aren't many conquest ending stories out there, and I've had this idea for so long since I started reading Neptunia fanfiction after searching for Conquest content since 2018, so I'm hyped. Expect slower updates since I have another story and need to play Victory before I proceed and expand my knowledge of the franchise and its lore and characters.

Fun fact: I never played any of Neptunia's games. Crazy, huh? Since I'm writing this story, I decided to buy the second and third games on my PS3 and play them. Until next time, bye and have a good one.
