Rise of Devastation

Prologue

World of Remnant:Gestalts

(Read in Ozpin's voice)

While we still have much to learn about the great mystery that is the soul, we have discovered two great powers it possesses: the manifestation of a physical shield that we call "Aura", and the power dwelling inside us all, our "Semblance". Semblances range in levels of power and ability, though some have been seemingly passed down from generation to generation amongst certain bloodlines, and there have been cases of people sharing similar if not identical abilities at the same time.

But what were to happen if an entire group of people shared the same power?

Despite sounding like an idea from a science fiction/fantasy novel, there have been recorded cases of groups ranging from two to six people wielding the exact same semblance. These groups are called Gestalts, and from what information we have gathered they tend to form around a close knit group who share either the same experiences(lifelong childhood friends) or a personality trait(a desire to help others) or in extremely rare cases the Gestalts are blood related(typically twins).

The benefits of such a bond are immense: the team is able to move in near perfect harmony, moving in sync to complete whatever tasks lie ahead of them. The Gestalt hive mind allows for the sharing of not just thoughts, but also memories and strengths, boosting the members of the team to feats they could never do by themselves.

At the same time, the cons are immense: The Gestalts rudimentary hive mind has been shown to share more then just emotions and thoughts between the group, but also pain and trauma, if one member of the team is injured the rest will feel phantom pains themselves. The greatest risk however is that the Gestalt tends to suffer from the loss of self identity or "ego death", losing everything but the memories and personality traits that bound them together in the first place.

These risks, combined with the modern day emphasis on individuality, mean that Gestalts are frequently portrayed as monstrous beings who seek only power or to bring the entire world into their hive mind in some vain attempt to stop the Grimm Hordes*If only that could actually worked, the truth of the matter is most Gestalts are the same as everyone else, though they occasionally confuse "I" for "we" and vice versa when referring to themselves.

Hello everybody it's me again! This time I'm going to just post a small world of Remnant type blurb to see if this fic could take off.

The idea behind this one(besides trying to sneak combiners in RWBY) is to show how one can lose themselves by joining something larger than a single person. I figure this would be something characters from Remnant would find hard to understand, seeing as how after the Great War everyone started to embrace individuality and creativity(except for Atlas, but Rooster Teeth is trying to make them be nothing but villains aside from Penny and her dad). So I combed my mind for a good way to do this and came up with combiners, specifically the Constructicons. Why do you ask? Cause deep down every child loves either(or both) dinosaurs or construction vehicles. If this doesn't sound like a good idea then I'll switch to my back up fic: Right of Freedom, starring Orion Pax as a super cop trying to deal with all the craziness of Vale.

If you think this is a good idea, like and review, if you're a hater then please take your trolling somewhere else and have a great day.
