AFTER DINNER

The family members had all left and it was just Abigail, Frank, and Henry in the house.

Frank asked her to join him in the study. It was ornately decorated and filled with books.

He gestured over to the firm leather couch that had an antique yet classic look to it. She sat down on it and he slid beside her against the corner of it.

He put his left arm around her waist and gently pulled her towards her so that she was leaning up against his chest.

She sighed as she leaned against him feeling the weight of the day's events fall on her.

Frank nuzzled her neck softly, "You know, for a minute there, I didn't know if you were going to say yes…" he said huskily.

Abigail chuckled mischieviously. "It was kind of fun seeing you sweat a little."

"Oh really?" he growled at her playfully and turned her cheek to look up at him.

His expression changed as he looked down at her, "Abigail, you mean the world to me. And I never wanted to do anything to hurt you."

Abigail swallowed feeling choked up again. His behavior had really stung. But now she somewhat understood what he had been trying to work through.

"I had to arrange some things here too…" he said as if reading her thoughts.

She nodded.

"And I'll make sure you have everything you need on your week off."

"My week off?" she echoed hollowly.

"Yes. You'll be taking time off to heal this," He looked down at her left arm in the sling.

"I'm sorry Sir, but that's not going to happen," she said defiantly.

His expression darkened and changed to the familiar tough-as-nails Commissioner one.

"Excuse me, what, Detective Baker?"

"I'm perfectly fine to return to my duties Sir. Doctor passed me out of the hospital just fine."

Frank appeared speechless as she stood her ground.

"No, you need time off." He ordered her.

"I'll be in the office Monday morning," she replied firmly.

Frank sighed and shook his head, "Are you always this stubborn?"

Abigail smiled slyly, "Maybe."

He pulled her back towards him so that she was leaning against his chest again.

"And here I was all these years thinking I was in charge," he muttered good-naturedly.

Abigail laughed, "I might let you take charge of some things…" she trailed off sexily.

"Mmm" he said kissing her neck tenderly.

Abigail suddenly had a thought, "Hey, what about our engagement and the press?"

He pulled away. "Garrett thinks he can spin it in a way that will be just a quick mention in the papers. Not any big scandal or anything."

Abigail breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh good." Hopefully they could continue working together under a new "arrangement".

The Commissioner shifted behind her and turned her towards him. "You know, you said some funny things right after you got shot…"

"What? What do you mean funny?" Abigail searched her memories but most of that night was a blur to her. Shock had hit her pretty quickly.

He grinned at her, "Hm you said something about me…"

"What? What did I say?" She pressed him.

Geez, me and my big mouth. Of course it would betray me when I wasn't even aware of what I was saying.

His eyes twinkled and his moustache twitched as he spoke, "You said I looked hot in a tux."

Abigail felt her face turn three shades of purple.

He laughed as he noticed her color change. He leaned in and Abigail could smell his musky scent.

Her pulse quickened and her heart started beating faster.

He held the distance between them looking into her eyes. "I didn't mind," he said softly and cupped her cheek with one hand.

Bringing his mouth to hers she felt the fire ignite as they kissed.

How does he do this to me? She thought woozily.

With her one free arm she grabbed the back of his head to pull him in closer.

He grunted and intensified their kiss as their tongues met.

It was a bit clumsy trying to make out on the couch with her one arm in a sling but suddenly she was more comfortable as Frank gently laid her down on the couch.

He was leaning over her without putting any pressure on her injured arm and suddenly his hand was inside her sweater. Abigail shivered with pleasure as he explored her breasts, keeping his mouth on hers.

She groaned softly feeling all sorts of sensations.

After a few moments he pulled away breathing hard.

She herself was gasping for air and she tried to put herself upright on the couch with her right arm.

She winced in pain as her hand slipped and she ended up jarring her injured arm.

"Here, " Frank said tenderly, "Let me." He scooped her up and sat her upright.

His eyes were burning brightly and she could feel the desire in them as he gazed at her.

"I can't wait until you're healed up," he said.

"Me too," she breathed still feeling like she was out of breath.

He stood up and said, "I'll call the detail around to take you home."

"Ok, sure." Abigail said her head still spinning. "And I'll see you bright and early tomorrow morning, Sir." she smiled up at him knowing it would get a rise out of him.

It did. He sighed and ran a hand over his face, "You know, you really should take the time off Ab–" he was cut off as she grabbed his face down to hers and silenced him with a lingering and sensual kiss.

A/N: I took my time with these chapters. I do hope you enjoyed it! How about when she didn't say yes right away LOL. Wedding shenanigans will be forthwith! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

He was left stupefied and speechless with no more argument left in him.
