"-zaya"
Izaya felt warm. For the first time in what felt like forever he didn't feel like opening his eyes.
"Izaya!"
The voice calling out to him was getting louder and louder, and soon he wasn't able to ignore it.
He slowly opened his eyes, only to see Namie hovering over him with an unreadable expression on her face.
"What is going on here?" She whispered theatrically and looked down. Izaya raised his head and followed her gaze.
And then it hit him.
Yesterday- Shizuo fell asleep and he-
Somehow they shifted in their sleep so that Izaya was lying on top of the blonde.
"How the hell is he still asleep?" He murmured, "Your shouting was loud enough to wake half the city."
Namie tsked, "I'll make you some coffee. And I expect an explanation." She started walking towards the kitchen, "Playing friends with your enemy is one thing, but sleeping with him-"
"Is worse than sleeping with your brother?" He remarked, but his blush was probably visible all the way from Ikebukuro.
He put his hands on the blonde's chest to help himself up, and froze. His heart- Shizuo's heart was beating fast.
He swallowed, and mustered a smirk, "I know you're not asleep, you jerk."
The blonde's lips curled up in a soft smile, "You got me." He opened his eyes and his smile became forced. Izaya was still groggy, his hair sticking out in all directions, and his clothes messy. Somehow, he found the sight very appealing. In fact, he couldn't stop staring. He looked at Izaya for a moment too long, and the raven seemed to have noticed something in his expression. His eyes widened.
Izaya quickly untangled himself from the blonde and got up from the couch. He looked scared.
"Izaya?"
He sighed, pinching his nose, "It's nothing."
Shizuo sat up, still looking at him, confused.
Izaya grabbed his phone and checked the time. "Shit! Namie, why didn't you wake me up sooner? I'm late for a meeting!"
"If you'd pay attention to what I'm saying you'd know that I told you I'd be late today." She said, exiting the kitchen with a mug in her hand.
Shizuo looked at the scene, growing more and more confused. Izaya seemed on edge, running his hand through his hair, and going from one room to another, quickly getting ready. He didn't even glance at the coffee his secretary made.
Speaking of which, she sat down next to him with some documents in hand, and started sorting through them in silence.
Shizuo didn't know what to do with himself. He felt really awkward and out of place, but for some reason, he didn't feel like going home.
He checked his phone. He still had an hour before his shift started. He was about to stand up and talk to Izaya, when a stern voice stopped him.
"Heiwajima-kun." The secretary said.
He looked at her quizzically, and waited for her to continue.
"What do you think you're doing?"
"What?" Shizuo asked, confused.
"Here. I mean, what do you think you're doing here with Izaya?" She looked at him with a blank face.
Shizuo swallowed down, silent for a moment.
"What's it to you?"
Namie sighed, "In case you haven't noticed, Izaya is my boss. And he can be real pain in the ass when he's upset. So, what I want to say is," she put the documents on the table and stood up. Even though she was shorter than him, she was intimidating. "If you do make him upset, you're a dead man."
Shizuo looked at her for a moment, before running a hand through his hair, "Noted."
She nodded, and sat back down.
If he makes Izaya upset, huh? Shizuo felt like he already did. He looked at the stairs to the upper floor, where Izaya went. He sighed, and made his way over there.
Izaya was looking at himself in the mirror. His face was still red from before. What the hell was wrong with him!?
He gripped the sink, angry at himself. What was he thinking? And Shizuo, too! What was that supposed to be!? That freaking expression of... He didn't even know what! But it was way too affectionate!
He groaned, irritated, and splashed cold water onto his face.
"Izaya? You okay?" He heard Shizuo's voice and froze. "You left the door open."
"You follow people to the bathroom much, Shizu-chan?" He smirked, and hated the fact that he enjoyed making Shizuo blush.
"N-no! I didn't- I just..." The blonde sighed, "You seemed upset."
"Well, it's not every day that I sleep next to my enemy."
"Except we're not enemies anymore."
Izaya frowned. Then what were they? 'Cause it didn't really feel like friendship.
He felt cold spreading in his veins. What were they? What was it?
"... right." He muttered.
Shizuo's face from before, that warm look, appeared in his mind again.
He turned the water off, dried his face, and turned to Shizuo. "Don't you have work today?"
"Yeah, I was just about to-"
"Alright, you know where the door is. I've got to hurry to the meeting."
"Okay, then."
Izaya tried, and failed, to not look behind.
Shizuo was angry.
He wasn't angry at something in particular. He was just angry. In general.
All those poor indebted people paid a terrible price for it, as he couldn't control his strength.
Why was he mad? One might ask. Because he felt powerless. He wanted to be friends with Izaya. He really did. Why? Because it made him feel less of a monster. But Izaya, on the other hand... was really stubborn. Whenever Shizuo felt like he's made some progress, Izaya would drift back away.
And one image couldn't leave his head. When Izaya passed him by, and yet looked behind. That face he made then... As if he was scared of something. But what?
He remembered Izaya's messy hair, his groggy expression, and crooked shirt. He remembered how the sight made him feel. The blood rushing to his abdomen.
Oh God, he-
He halted. Tom gave him a confused look.
"Shizuo?"
But Shizuo was too stunned to speak. He really found the flea... hot.
He heard a sigh. "Is something wrong?" Tom asked. "You know, maybe it's better if you go home early today."
That pulled Shizuo back from his thoughts to the reality.
"Eh? Why?"
"You've been more aggressive than usual today. It's clear something's wrong, since you've turned unusually calm this week."
Shizuo sighed, "Am I that obvious?"
Tom only laughed briefly. "So what's up? Did Izaya piss you off again?"
"Something like that." He scratched his neck awkwardly.
"I see. Well, as I said, go home, calm down. Take it easy. I've got it covered."
"Thanks. I appreciate it."
"Yeah, yeah, now go."
And Shizuo ran. He ran as fast as he could, all the way to Shinjuku.
Second-highest building. Top floor. He knew the path by heart.
One, two, three knocks on the door, and seconds later, the door opened.
"Shizu-chan? What are you-"
But Shizuo didn't let him finish the sentence. He charged in, pushing him against the wall.
Izaya felt his heart in his throat. What was going on? Was Shizuo about to kill him?
"Wha-"
Shizuo's lips touched his own. Izaya was going to die.
Yooo~
