Kera:

Kera let a large amount of energy flow over her hand into Vegeta's arm. The ball of energy in his hand grew larger and larger. Furious, she looked down at Frieza, who was cowering at her feet. At last it was over. Finally they would never have to face this creature again.

Frieza seemed to tremble. Did he fear death? He who had brought death to so many other beings without blinking?

Slowly he raised his head and grinned at her. How dare he? Even now, at the lowest point of his life, he could not see that he had lost. He opened his mouth to say something.

"Get out of the way!"

Instinctively, Kera released her touch on Vegeta and stepped to the right while Vegeta stepped to the left as they heard Kakarrot's call. Kera sensed her half-brother racing towards them, an energy attack at the ready.

"What the ...?"

Kakarrot planted his feet in the ground, kicking up rock and dust, and at the same time let out his Kamehameha with a yelp at Frieza. Kera saw the frightened expression on her opponent's face before he sank into the blue light of Kakarrot's energy attack.

Breathing heavily, Kakarrot let his attack fade away. Kera and Vegeta stared transfixed at the spot where Frieza had been kneeling only seconds before. The earth there was black. Frieza was gone. Simply gone. Turned to dust like the plain around him.

"Why did you do that?" Stunned, Kera looked up at Kakarrot.

"It was up to us to kill him." Vegeta had already clenched his hands into fists and was about to lunge at Kakarrot.

"I'm sorry. I really am. Frieza had destroyed the earth. Whis was only able to save those who stood around him and then turned back time. I had to act." Embarrassed, he rubbed his backside.

"Are you saying we were all dead just then?" Swallowing hard, Kera rubbed his neck. This couldn't be happening. Again she had failed to kill Frieza.

Kakarrot nodded. "The earth exploded. I was standing with Bulma, Krillin and the others around Whis on a small piece of earth in the middle of space. Remember when Beerus had sneezed and accidentally destroyed a planet?"

Vegeta had his arms crossed in front of his chest. He was still miffed, but not quite as angry. "Yes. That was when Whis had said something about there being no need to intervene there."

"Exactly. Whis can turn back time by three minutes. That's why I had to act fast."

"Can't Whis do that several times in a row to turn back the time further?" Kera didn't want to give up yet. Maybe there was a way she could send Frieza to the afterlife herself after all.

Sadly, Kakarrot shook his head. "No. He can use it once and then needs a certain time to be able to repeat the action."

"So now the God of Destruction has saved the earth." Vegeta looked over to the plateau where Beerus, Whis and the others were standing. "He must be embarrassed."

As if Lord Beerus had overheard them talking about him, he sneezed once loudly and then rubbed his nose in embarrassment.

Kera sighed in resignation. "I don't care now. We didn't beat Frieza again and I'm pissed. Now that it can't be helped, please take us to Namek, Kakarrot, so we can revive Piccolo. I can't last much longer without him."

Menka:

Triumphantly, Goten leapt into the air. "Yes! Dad defeated Frieza."

Trunks stepped back from the edge of the platform and braced his hands on his hips. "Only because your father got in the way. My dad could have taken Frieza down too."

Bickering, Menka's cousins moved further away from them as she continued to stare down. Menka wondered why her uncle had given Frieza the final blow. Surely he also knew how important it was for her mother and Vegeta to defeat the adversary who had tormented them for years. Or had something else happened that had eluded her? Her mother, Uncle Vegeta and Uncle Kakarrot just held hands and were gone the next moment. Where were they going so quickly with Momentary Teleportation?

"I guess they want to use the Dragon Balls on Namek to revive Piccolo," said Dende, who seemed to know what was moving her, as usual.

Menka smiled. "Good, then everything will soon be back to normal."

"You didn't tell me earlier what happened in the underworld."

"Right, sorry. We'd found Frieza in his personal hell, watched him for a while, then approached him." She shrugged. "We didn't really know what we were supposed to do either, we just wanted to do something," she finished the sentence quietly. Dende put an arm around her shoulder and she gratefully let herself sink against his side.

"Gine was supposed to be waiting for us, but she suddenly joined us and looked at Frieza like he was something special. Even he looked quite surprised. He was about to say something, but then he disappeared. Probably he was revived at that moment. We didn't know what to do for a moment and then Gine just flew away. Reyak tried to catch her and I went after her. It seemed to take a long time." Menka sighed and looked at Dende, who was staring worriedly ahead.

"You ... you're sure Frieza and Gine reacted to each other?"

"Yes. What does that mean?" Menka felt alarmed by Dende's worried tone.

"I have no idea. It's just weird."

Menka was sure Dende was avoiding her, but she didn't get to ask further because at that moment she heard a cough.

"Daddy!"

Beaming with joy, she ran to Piccolo, who was just standing up, and fell around her father's neck.

Happily, he hugged his daughter before pushing her off him again to look at her seriously.

"Are you all right?"

Menka nodded eagerly and then spoke quickly: "Of course. I'm so sorry we were in the Underworld. I had overheard that a commander Sorbet was trying to revive Frieza. Reyak and I wanted to stop that, so we went looking for him. Freezer. But Reyak had just been looking after Gine and ..."

"That's all right. We'll talk about that later," Piccolo interrupted his daughter. He nodded to Dende and stood up. "Where is ...?"

At that moment, Reyak flew in with Gine, who embraced their father as joyfully and tumultuously as Menka had earlier. Goten and Trunks also joined them now, beaming from ear to ear when they saw that Piccolo was all right again.

As Piccolo sat back up, he closed his eyes for a moment and a blissful smile played around his lips. Menka knew he only showed this when he was in mental contact with their mother.

He opened his eyes again and looked at her. "Your mother has just informed me that they are now leaving from Planet Namek and returning home. We're all planning to meet at Bulma's, who has organised quite a lot for dinner."

Goten and Trunks high-fived each other in the air and were already gone. Piccolo took Gine in his arms and stepped to the edge of the platform. He turned around once more. "Are you coming?"

"We're behind you." Grinning, Reyak looked to his father, but at the same time he was still holding Menka by the arm. She understood. He was about to tell her something else he didn't want their father to hear.

Dende followed Piccolo, leaving Menka and Reyak alone on the platform in front of the palace.

"What happened?" she asked immediately.

"Gine flew straight to the battlefield. We got there when Frieza was already on the ground. Gine went to him. I was only able to stop her with difficulty. When Frieza was pulverised by Uncle Kakarrot, she screamed."

Menka cursed. What on earth was wrong with her sister? "Did Mum catch any of that?"

Reyak shook his head. "She was too busy yelling at Uncle Kakarrot."

"We need to find out why she did that. Not that she's going to go looking for Frieza in the Underworld on her own. Who knows if he's back in his own personal hell."

"We'll do that. Can we just maybe put this off until later?" Reyak's stomach growled loudly.

Menka grinned and ran to the edge of the platform.

Kera:

As soon as they landed on the Briefs' estate, Kera looked for Piccolo's aura. He was still on his way and she took off running, leaping into the air and flying towards her mate. She could no longer stand to be without him.

In mid-air, only a few miles from the estate, she met him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Gine was equally delighted and squeezed her and Piccolo even tighter. Deeply she breathed in his scent and enjoyed the feeling of being whole again. The pain in her chest was gone.

"Well, we've been at it again, haven't we?"

She nodded at his shoulder, not letting go until he landed next to Bulma with her and Gine.

Shortly after, Menka and Reyak flew in, nearly knocking Kera over as they hugged her out of flight.

"I think we deserve a feast." With that Bulma opened the buffet and for a long while there was gluttonous silence.

When the sun had almost disappeared on the horizon, Kera found her twin brother and her half-brother standing a little apart under a tree and joined them. Were they watching the sunset? Or were they talking to each other?

"Do you think if we had fought together we would have defeated him faster?" She looked to the horizon as did the two men and leaned against the tree trunk beside Vegeta.

Vegeta and Kakarrot looked at each other. "Nope," they then said simultaneously and started laughing.

Kera sighed. "At least you guys agree on that for once."
