Welcome back to Uncharted Beyond Realms. Last time, Spyro, just like he said, went and met with his family over his and Cynder's relationship. And just as you'd hopefully expect, his parents, in particular his mother, were of great comfort for the situation. And all they had to do was say one thing: he's a protector, but went a little too far. But enough of the emotional stuff for now, we've got action to get to. Let's go see what Nate and Sully are up to.
(As Spyro converses with his family, we pick up Nathan Drake and Sully, trudging through the Swamps, looking for the last pendant.)
Sully: I'll admit, this is not how I was expecting to spend the last three days.
Nathan Drake: Come on Sully, this hasn't been our strangest adventure.
Sully: The last ones didn't involve dealing with dragons.
Nathan Drake: (With a smirk) Not sure whether to call that sarcastic or kind of racist.
Sully: Very funny, Nate. Do you think we're getting any closer to this thing?
Nathan Drake: I have no idea. All we know for sure is that it's here. Something tells me if we see the enemy, we'll be close.
Sully: What are the odds that they...
(Before Sully can even finish that sentence, Nathan Drake shushes and pulls him behind a giant mushroom. As they peak around the corner of it, we see the worst possible thing we could in this situation, the Malefic Order has already arrived.)
Sully: How'd they beat us here?
Nathan Drake: No idea, but this means Cynder isn't the one informing them. (Sighs) And now I feel even worse about accusing her.
Sully: Sure there'll be time for apologies later, Nate.
Nathan Drake: (Looks around) It looks like they brought out the big guns this time.
(In that second, we see through Nathan Drake's eyes and see the extent of the Malefic Order's armory, including a very prominent tank)
Sully: (Now seeing the tank) How'd they get a tank in here?!
Nathan Drake: Frankly, I don't want to know. But I do know we've got to get moving. If they find the pendant first, we're not going to be able to fight back.
(As Nathan Drake and Sully sneak away, we see the Malefic Order's spy in the Guard in his true regalia, giving orders to his fellows)
Watcher: I don't care what you have to do, the Master has ordered us to retrieve that pendant at all costs. Even if you have to burn this place to the ground, find it before the human and his allies do!
Malefic Order Troops: Yes, sir!
Watcher: Good, get to work. And get that tank moving!
(As the Malefic Order forces go to work, the Watcher pulls out a small black mirror, communicating with his master)
Watcher: Master, we have good news.
?: This had better be.
Watcher: We know the last of the pendants is here in the Swamps, and there's been no sign of the human or his allies. We have likely beaten them to it.
?: You had best not have jinxed yourself then.
Watcher: I assure you, we will have this last pendant, on forfeit of my life.
?: That is not a vow used lightly. You know what power I have, I can make that happen.
Watcher: I am confident, sire.
?: You had best not fail me then.
(And with that, the image fades in the black mirror, leaving the Watcher to his task)
Watcher: This one is ours. I'm certain of it.
(And as this Watcher resumes his mission, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. So, we're finally nearing the point where this story opened. But now we have one question. Since we kind of know what's coming, what ultimately leads to them breaking the tank out to chase Nate around? I won't say for now, and actually not next time, I've got something to do then.
