Davis' adventure in Centros has finally come to an end. After parting ways with Tetsu and Cletus, he has returned to Kanto and is heading back to Professor Oak's lab. However, Davis has no way of returning to his own world. With no way to return home and no new journey, what is he going to do?
"Davis, what exactly is the plan?" Imperialdramon questioned. "We never really thought about what we would do when our journey in Centros ended. We don't even have a home here."
"I don't really know." Davis said as he kept going. "Maybe Professor Oak has something for us. All I do know is that even if we have a way to get home...I don't know if I want to." It seems Davis isn't ready to give up being a trainer just yet. As Pallet Town was coming closer and closer, Davis tried to think about what to do from here.
So you want to be Master of Pokemon
Do you have the skills to be Number One
I wanna take the ultimate step
Find the courage to be bold
To risk it all and not forget the lessons that I hold
I wanna go where no one's been
Far beyond the crowd
Learn the way to take command
Use the power that's in my hand
Hey
We all live in a pokemon world
I wanna be the greatest master of them all
We all live in a pokemon world
Put myself to the test
Be better than all the rest
So you wanna be a Master of Pokemon
Do you have the skills to be Number One
We all live in a pokemon world
I wanna be the greatest master of them all
Got the power right in your hands
Po-ke-mon
(Davis' voice) One Stops, Another Begins
"Let's see... It looks like I need to tend to the grass-types." Professor Oak said as he was working at his lab and was about to interact with all the pokemon.
"Professor Oak! We're back!" Professor Oak looked and saw that Davis and Imperialdramon were back.
"Davis! Welcome back, my boy!" Professor Oak said as he greeted them. "I've been expecting your return for quite some time. I wanted to tell you personally that I'm most pleased and proud that you were able to win in Pokemon Grand Orientation."
"Thanks a lot." Davis said. Since he was back at the lab, he reached for all of his pokemon. "Come out, everyone!" He called as he released all of his Centros pokemon. "Guys, we're at Professor Oak's lab. All my other pokemon are here, so go play and interact." All of his pokemon took off and went to have some fun. Davis was glad to see all of his pokemon enjoying themselves, and it also gave him and Professor Oak a chance to talk. The two of them and Imperialdramon moved inside and Davis spotted his trophy for winning Pokemon Grand Orientation.
"Here's your trophy. I made sure it was in good care." Professor Oak said.
"Thanks. Sorry I had to ask you to do this, but I don't know where else to put it." Davis said.
"It's fine." Professor Oak said. "On that note, I do have to ask you something. Now that you're journey in Centros is over, are you going to return to your own world?" That made things a little difficult for them.
"Uh... Well... We can't." Davis admitted as both of them looked a little nervous.
"We have no way of returning to our own world." Imperialdramon said.
"You what?!" Professor Oak said as he was shocked to hear about that. This sounded like a serious topic, so the two of them had a seat and helped themselves to some tea.
"Thanks for the tea, but where's that assistant of yours? His name is Tracey, right?" Davis questioned.
"Yes, but I'm afraid he's out on an errand. He went out to Cerulean City." Professor Oak said. "I also told Ash the exciting news."
"Ash and Pikachu?!" Imperialdramon said.
"Are they here in town?!" Davis said.
"I'm afraid not. Those two are still out on a journey. I told them over the phone." Professor Oak said. "You would not believe their reaction when I told them the good news."
"I'll bet it was something eccentric and over the top." Davis teased.
"More importantly, we need to talk about your situation." Professor Oak said. "You have no way of returning to your world. What are you going to do about that?"
"I really don't know." Davis said as he thought about his actions. "I knew that when I went through that portal, it would be difficult for me to return home. I do believe that my friends will find a way, so I could continue being a trainer. Back home, I missed my pokemon and all the things that come with being a trainer. That's why we worked on a portal that could bring us here. Izzy said it wasn't ready because we didn't have a way to get back, but I couldn't wait around anymore. I just simply took the chance."
"But now you're stranded here. As much as we love having you around, you have friends and family back in your world." Professor Oak said. "I'm sure they all miss you greatly, and you surely miss them. What if there really isn't a way for you to go back?" Davis didn't really think about that and the feeling of homesickness was starting to get to him.
"It's like we said early, we believe in our friends. Isn't that right?" Imperialdramon said with him assuring Davis. "If Izzy could build a portal that got us here, there's nothing that genius can't do."
"Yeah... Imperialdramon is right! We believe in our friends!" Davis said. "Still, I wish there was a way to talk to them." When one asks, one shall recieve. That was right when static started forming on Professor Oak's computer.
"Professor Oak, something is up with your computer." Imperialdramon pointed out and they all saw something was happening to it.
"...ello. Ca... ...e?... ...vis... Davis... ...ou the.."
"Did that thing say your name?" Imperialdramon questioned. They all tried to get a closer look at what was going on with the computer and that was when an image started appearing on it.
"Davis? Hello? Is anyone there?" Someone's face started to appear on the screen and Davis couldn't believe who it was.
"Tai?!" Davis said.
"Davis?! Are you out there?!" Tai called.
"Tai! Tai!" Davis said as he hurried to the computer. There seemed to be some sort of message coming through, but it was a struggle. "Tai! I'm right here! Can you hear me?! Can you see me?!"
"Davis? Is that really you?" Tai said.
"Yeah! I'm right here!" Davis said as he and the others couldn't believe it. Tai was really on the computer and they were actually talking to him.
"It's working! The signal isn't all that clear, but it's working! We got him!" Tai said.
"Davis! Are you really there?!" He looked and saw Kari was coming on the screen. "Davis!"
"Kari! I can't believe this!" Davis said as he was overjoyed to see them again. "Have you guys really been trying to get in contact with me for all these weeks."
"Weeks? What are you talking about? You haven't been gone for very long." Tai said. It sounded like Davis has only been gone for hours back home instead of weeks.
"Time seems to move differently. The whole thing with time and space is quite confusing and complexing." Imperialdramon said. "Just imagine all the kinds of adventures. We could be gone for months or years on this side and only be gone for days back home."
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves." Davis said as he wasn't sure about doing something like that.
"Are you crazy, Davis?! How could you just jump across dimensions like that?!" Tai said. "The portal is fried now. You practically ruined all of Izzy's work. Not to mention you were lucky. There's no telling what could have happened to you and Veemon."
"I think you mean Imperialdramon." Imperialdramon said as they just noticed him.
"It really worked?! You guys are really in the pokemon's world?!" Kari asked.
"It sure did, and we just got finished with our own little journey." Davis said.
"Don't sound happy when we're a little displeased with you. Do you have any idea how much your parents are freaking out because of this?! They think you disappeared since they don't remember anything about pokemon." Tai said.
"Tell them I'm sorry. I just had to do it." Davis said. He never meant to hurt any of them, but he just couldn't ignore the calling. It was then he noticed Kari and thought about her actions affected her. "Tai... Can you leave me and Kari to talk?" Knowing the kind of bond those two have, Tai moved out of the screen and it was just her.
"Hey." Kari said.
"Kari... I'm... I'm sorry. I know you must be mad at me for what I did." Davis said as he was filled with guilt. "It's just... I couldn't wait. I..." He just couldn't find the words since he knows alone wouldn't be enough.
"I know, Davis. I read your letter, and I know you." Kari said as she didn't sound mad. "I had a feeling you would have been impatient and would jump right at the chance to go there when you had it."
"So... You're not mad at me?" Davis said as he sounded relieved.
"Oh, I am!" Kari said with Davis getting a little nervous. "Still, I do understand. I felt the same way you did. We all do. That's why we worked on the portal to begin with. I'm only upset because I wish you could have waited a little longer. We could have gone together."
"I'm... I'm sorry... I really don't know what else to say." Davis said. "I was willing to take the risk, but I couldn't ask you to do the same."
"I know. You don't have to keep apologizing when I feel the same way you do." Kari said as she placed her hand against the screen. Davis did the same as it was the closest the two of them could get in this situation.
"Sorry! hate to interrupt!" Tai said as he came back on the screen. "Izzy says we can't hold the connection much longer. Davis, we're working on the portal again. We're gonna do what we can to get there, to get you back." He said before the connection was lost and it was nothing but static again.
"Tai! Kari! Are you still there?!" Davis called, but there was no response. They were gone again. It did hurt to lose them like this, but it wasn't there fault.
"Are you okay, my boy?" Professor Oak asked.
"Yeah... I'll be fine..." Davis said. After that, Davis stepped outside and looked out. He saw all of his pokemon having fun and enjoying themselves. Seeing this is what made Davis feel better because they were his pokemon. Seeing his pokemon like this filled him with some joy.
"You surely have good friends in both worlds, Davis." Professor Oak said as he joined him. "Have you decided on what you're going to do next?"
"I don't know. It looks like I've got all the time in the world." Davis said. "Time moves so differently here than it does back home. I could be gone for so long and hardly any time pass back home."
"Well, why did you come back in the first place?" Professor Oak said.
"I wanted to feel like a trainer again. I enjoyed what I did so much and loved having pokemon around." Davis said. "I'm not aiming for what Ash is going for. What even is a pokemon master? He's already the best trainer in the world."
"Well, Ash claims that being one is more than that. It's actually someone who is friends with every pokemon in the world." Professor Oak claimed with Davis and Imperialdramon baffled by that answer.
"Every pokemon in the world?! That sounds like Ash, but how could he possibly pull something like that off?!" Davis said. "I'm all for dreaming big, but that has to be the biggest dream I've ever heard."
"But it gives him an excuse to see the world, continue his journey, and have more adventures." Professor Oak said. That's just what Davis wants, but he's not aiming for what Ash is aiming for. He just wants to be the best trainer he can be.
"It's nice to hear that Ash is doing well, but where do I go from here?" Davis questioned. "When I started again, I didn't follow Ash's lead. I want to be able to step out on my own. I want to have my own adventures, my own travels, and much more."
"Well, if that's the case, I think I have just the place for you." Professor Oak said. "I pointed you out to Centros, and I have another place for you. It's somewhere that not even Ash has been to...with pokemon even he hasn't seen before. It's called Grecko."
"Grecko? You mean a brand new region? Holding pokemon even Ash hasn't seen before?" Davis said as that sounded like just what he needed. "Sounds perfect!"
"Good. I knew you would like it." Professor Oak said. "You can leave your other pokemon here. They'll be in good hands."
"Sounds great." Davis said as it sounds like he's found his new path.
"Sounds like I came just in time." Davis and Imperialdramon looked and were surprised to see Mrs. Ketchum with Mimey.
"Mrs. Ketchum?! I can't believe it!" Davis said.
"It's good to see you again, Davis. Professor Oak gave me a call and I just had to come see you for myself." Mrs. Ketchum said. "It's a good thing I caught you when I did before you decided to leave on another journey. You're a lot like Ash. Of course, you could have stopped by and say hello the last time you were in Pallet Town."
"Sorry. It's good to see you again." Davis said.
"Well, before you leave for another journey, you must stay at least one night. Have a nice dinner with all of us." Mrs. Ketchum offered and that sounded great to Davis. Even though he can't return to his own world, he's got great people in this one. With that in mind, Davis and his pokemon joined them in a day of relaxation.
...
The Next Day
After joining them for dinner, spending some time with the people, and getting his pokemon settled with Professor Oak; Davis and Imperialdramon are going to hit the road again. Imperialdramon is the only pokemon going with him this time as he is starting out on a brand new journey.
"Well, we're off to the airport." Davis said.
"Don't you mean you're off to the airport to ride a plane while I have to fly next to it or such?" Imperialdramon questioned. "No way they're going to let the likes of me on a plane. I'm too big."
"We'll manage." Davis said.
"Davis, before you go, I do have something for you." Mrs. Ketchum said as she handed him a gift. He opened up to see it was a new set of clothes.
"New clothes? You didn't have to do that for me." Davis said as he was touched.
"New adventure, new man, which means a new look." Mrs. Ketchum said as Davis liked how that sounded. That's why he tried on the new clothes with the new look. He now a wore a blue jacket with a collar with him wearing black pants and a grey shirt underneath. He was even given a new rectangular grey bag.
"I like it. It fits great." Davis said. All that was left was to face his pokemon. "Guys, thanks for everything. Professor Oak will take care of you until I need your help. My other pokemon will be here to keep you company."
"When you get to Grecko, make sure you see Professor Sassafras. She can help guide you." Professor Oak said.
"Got it. Thanks again for everything. Time to go, Imperialdramon." Davis said as the two of them were hitting the road once again for a new adventure to start and all of his friends wishing him well. Davis soon made it to the airport and was on his way to a new adventure that no one has been to yet.
The ending of one adventure means the start of a brand new one. Since Davis will be remaining in this world, he is heading for a new region with new pokemon that's never been seen before. A whole new journey awaits him, and we hope you'll come along for the ride.
Next time... A new adventure begins...
