Chapter 46 Bonus Material: Angharad's letter to Ginnar
(~***~)
Dear Ginnar,
I saw ada and nana writing letters for you and I asked if I could write one, too. I hope that your parents are there when you go home to Aglarond. I hope you get to help solve all the dwarfs' problems and that it does not take too long. I would like you to focus on your crafts without having to worry about your people. I think you got really good at carving jade and especially at fixing the statues and murals in the shrine at Temple Mountain. I hope you get to spend all the rest of your life making beautiful things and being happy. And I hope you grow a really wonderful beard, because I know that is important to you.
Ada says I should tell you what I learned from you, but there is a lot. You showed me how to laugh even when things seemed horrible. It made it a little bit better. I can appreciate art and history more than I used to. I like how you listen to old stories like you are watching them happen right now. The next time I have to listen to history lessons I will try to think about how you would see it.
It is the same for crafts: I never used to look at how things were made, but now I do. I think I would even like to try making something, even though I do not know what I want to make yet. You put so much work into fixing the shrine with Master Gongshu. Everything that you fixed looked so beautiful afterwards, even the things I thought were totally ruined. They said that shrine was over three thousand years old. So maybe the things you painted and fixed will last that long too. They will last in my memory as long as I live.
Most of all I think you taught me how to be a better friend. I kept forgetting to think about other people when we were in the Hidden Village, but you reminded me. You were right about that. It was better to take the time to be their friends. I hope I remember that forever, too.
I am really sorry that we cannot stay to help more. I think I will always wonder what happened to you. I will pray to the Valar that whatever it is, it is really, really good.
With love from your friend,
Angharad
