"Zor-El you must understand these rumors are true, he's coming for Krypton. He'll be here in a matter of weeks. We need to ready our defenses and get every able bodied man, woman and child armed and trained for combat."
"Nonsense Zod, if this so-called "Brainiac" you speak of was really out there and capable of conquering and destroying planets we surely would've heard about it by now."
"You don't understand Zor-El-"
"Zod you're speaking nonsense, leave these matters to me and worry about being your role as a soldier of Krypton."
"I am, that's why I am here to warn you, I love this planet and it's people and I wanna make sure we don't fall just like Rann did!"
"Fine Zod, I will humor you and look into these matters, no please get out of here."
Zod aims his weapon at Zor-El out of frustration.
"DAMMIT JUST LISTEN TO ME, WE ARE IN SERIOUS DANGER! I NEED YOU TO-"
A royal guard knocks Zod out by smashing a gun over the back of his head.
"I hate to do this because he was a good soldier, but it seems all the war has driven him mad. Send him to the phantom zone, I'll deal with him soon."
Meanwhile at the home of Jor-El
"Kara, Kal, supper is ready!" Lara calls to the children playing outside in the bright red sun.
The two children sit around the table and begin to eat. "Auntie, your cooking is the best!" Kara says to Lara with a big smile on her face obscured by the mess of food over her mouth.
Lara chuckles at her niece, "Kara you're almost a teenager, you gotta start learning your table manners!" Kal-El begins to laugh at her with food smeared all over his face to. Lara approaches her son with a rag, "not like you're much better you little scamp" she says with a chuckle wiping off his face.
The door to the house opens as Jor-El walks in. "UNCLE!" "DADDY!" Kara and Kal both yell out as they rush to hug Jor-El.
"Hey kiddos" Jor-El says with a slight laugh embracing the two kids.
"Alright kids, let's give him some room to breathe, go play" Lara says in a warm but demanding tone.
"How was work?" She asks as a follow up.
"We are so close to figuring out hover car technology!" Jor-El says with a giddy laugh of excitement."
"That's good honey!" Lara says enthusiastically.
"How were things here?" He asks as he sits down and takes a sip of his post work coffee.
"Not bad, they've been playing outside just about all day. I've been here preparing food for our family dinner tonight."
"Shit that is tonight, my brother hasn't shown up yet?" Jor-El asks.
"No, something must've come up at work that's been keeping him."
"Keeping who?" Zor-El asks whilst walking through the door and giving a big ole chuckle seeing his brother.
"It's been a long time brother," Jor-El says, giving Zor-El a big hug.
Zor-El's wife Alura enters behind him and together they all sit down at the table. Kara and Kal come back inside for seconds and to be with the rest of the family. They all get settled down a begin to eat dinner.
"So how's ruling the planet going?" Jor-El jokingly asks his brother.
"It's been a pain in my ass. Zod, your old running buddy in the military, started spouting nonsense about an alien invasion by someone named "Brainiac". Says it's only a mere few weeks away."
Jor-El's eyes widen as he freezes up for a second.
"Oh come on brother, don't tell me you believe that shit too? We'd have heard of something that big already!"
"Zod is one of the most loyal soldiers Krypton has ever had, he wouldn't just make this stuff up brother." Jor-El says with a slight hint of fear in his voice.
"Oh jesus here we go with this shit again" Zor-El says, annoyed.
"Okay kids, it's time to get going from here" Lara and Alura say, ushering their kids out of their seats and bringing them to the other room.
"You didn't see what we saw when we were out there protecting this planet. Brainiac is a very real threat to Krypton and to downplay it would be a massive mistake brother surely you see that."
"And if it isn't real then we would be creating a massive planet wide panic for no reason."
"So what happened with Zod? I can't imagine he took this dismissal too well."
"Well he drew a weapon on me, couldn't take that sitting down so we banished him to the phantom zone until I figure out what to do with him. A soldier like him is useful for us, but clearly war has made him crazy. At least you channel your war craziness into inventions little brother." Zor-El says with a laugh abruptly changing the conversation.
As the dinner begins to wind down, Zor-El gets ready to leave with Kara and Alura.
"Goodbye my little brother, we will have to do another family dinner like this soon, maybe just without the nonsense of earlier." Zor-El says once again dismissing the subject.
"Yes, yes we should" Jor-El says clearly shaken.
Alura goes to leave but her wrist is grabbed by Jor-El who whispers into her ear, "Kara and this whole planet are in danger, please listen to me. Zor-El dismisses it but the threat is real."
"Honey, come on!" Zor-El calls Alura. She turns her head to Zor-El and then back to Jor-El who she gives a quick nod before walking away.
2 weeks later
"Excellent work Jor-El I think we may have the final piece to the-" Dev-Em is cut off by alarms going off in the laboratories.
"Oh no, what is that?" Jor-El hears someone screaming as they point outside.
Jor-El rushes to the window of the lab to see a massive spaceship shaped like a skull descending into Krypton's atmosphere.
"Zod was right." Jor-El mumbles to himself. A couple small explosions outside of the lab completely shake and disorient the scientists working inside. Blaster fire drowns out the loud sounds of the panicking scientists. A security guard from the lab runs into the doorway to warn everyone but is immediately shot and killed. Jor-El runs forward and grabs his body and drags him to a side room and closes the door.
A bunch of robots finish off the rest of the security force outside the lab and begin to try and break their way through the door. Eventually smashing through the door they begin to open fire on the helpless scientists trapped in the lab. Jor-El kicks the door open from where he was hiding and now donned in Kryptonian Armor from the guard and holding his weapon he begins to kill all of the robots in the lab. He makes it to the doorway and looks back to see only a few of the scientists left standing.
"Stay here, I'll send whoever I can to come and help you guys." Jor-El says as he quickly begins to sprint in the direction of his home. He notices a group of space pods all trying to leave the atmosphere and one by one they are all shot down by the massive ship besides one which is able to make its way by. A look of disbelief falls upon his face as he starts to sprint even faster with new resolve. A little explosion in front of Jor-El causes him to get sent flying back. Four robots leave the pod and all take aim at Jor-El. He lunges forward dodging the blaster fire and eventually grabs one of the robots and tosses it into another one. He blasts the third one and his hand is grazed by a blast from the fourth one causing him to drop his weapon. Without losing much momentum he slams the robot into the pod they just just dropped from and grabs it's blaster. He headbutts the robot in the face and as it falls to the ground he shoots it in the head 3 times.
"Come on, COME ON!" Jor-El says running while at the brink of exhaustion only continuing on by sheer willpower.
"Hello Krypton, this is your new leader speaking. Surrender peacefully and you can live, resist and we will destroy you all and your planet!" A voice calls from the spaceship above. Sounds of explosions and gunfire rain all around Jor-El as he finally nears his home and upon arriving he falls to his knees in despair. His house has already been destroyed and overtaken by the same robots from before. Tears well up in his eyes and he is unable to move. A robot comes up behind him with a gun to the back of his head. Jor-El closes his eyes bracing himself for the worst, but when a gunshot rings out the robot falls over.
"COME ON BROTHER, QUIT STANDING AROUND AND COME WITH ME!" Zor-El yells to his brother. Jor-El pauses for a moment and begins to run toward his brother with tears uncontrollably rolling down his face. Zor-El takes Jor-El to the Kryptonian hangers where they keep all the escape pods and aircrafts.
"What are we doing here?" Jor-El asks his brother, confused.
"This is the end of the line for us brother, it's over everything we knew."
"What are you talking about, we should be out there fighting for our planet!"
"That's reckless and coming from a man who wants to die" Zor-El says, scolding his brother.
"I know it's not easy losing your family. Alura is dead and I don't know where Kara is. But don't go speaking nonsense about fighting at a time like this."
"But I'm a soldier I-"
"NO! You WERE a soldier brother, but now you're a scientist who can make a difference. Krypton wouldn't have become the utopia it was without you brother and now with all this happening I want you to go and make a difference out there.
Jor-El begins to sob, "but-but Kal and Lara, I can't do this without them."
"Of course you can brother, you're one of the strongest and smartest people I know."
A bang comes from the hangar door. "Shit they're here, we don't have much time."
"Let's fight them off and leave this planet together Zor-El" Jor-El says to his brother.
"No Jor-El, I'm afraid this is the end of the line for me."
"I just lost my wife and child, I won't lose my brother too, like it or not I'm staying with you!" Jor-El says as he walks towards the door. Zor-El knocks his brother out and puts him into the escape pod.
"Goodbye little brother, I should've listened to you and Zod. My naivety doomed us all." Zor-El says with a tear in his eye. Jor-El's escape pod blasts away as the robots finally enter the hanger. Zor-El is able to take out a couple of the robots before being shot multiple times in the stomach and succumbing to his wounds.
Jor-El wakes up in his escape pod and looks back frantically at Krypton. He tries to take control of his pod but is denied access.
"DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT!" he says, slamming his hand onto the dash.
He takes another look back at Krypton only to be devastated with the sight of his planet completely exploding. He falls to his knees and the last thing he hears is "initiating cryosleep."
At the Ruins of Krypton
A ship suddenly appears at the ruins of the once thriving planet.
"What the hell? Wasn't I just in the phantom zone?" He thinks to himself. "The only way I could've gotten out is…." he pauses before looking out the window to see the destruction that has become of his planet.
"NO NO NO NO!" He yells slamming his fist on the dash of the ship. The palms of his hands meet his face as a single tear begins to flow down his cheek.
"There's gotta be someone.. ANYONE!" he says as he frantically checks the ship's scouters to see two kryptonian distress signals emitting from it. A little smile cracks upon his face as he heads towards one of the two signals. Upon arriving he finds a little pod slowly floating through space. He suits up to go out into the endless vacuum of space, tethers himself to the ship and launches himself towards the pod. Upon inspecting the pod he notices a girl no older than 12 slowly breathing. He grabs her pod and brings her onto his ship. Zod lets the girl out of her pod who falls to the floor weakly.
"What-what's going on? Where's my dad? I'm scared!" The little girl begins crying.
"Hey hey, it's okay. I'm here for you." Zod says embracing the girl who begins to sob even harder.
"Listen" he says looking down at the teary eyed face of the little girl.
"Your father entrusted me to keep you safe. He died protecting our planet from some really bad people." Zod said as warmly as possible to prevent hurting the girl's feeling even more. Upon hearing this news the girl walks to the window and curls up in the fetal position with no more energy to keep the tears flowing. Zod looks back at her with pity and despair in his eyes.
"What's your name girl?" He asks.
"K-K-Kara. Kara Zor-El" she says in between sobs.
"Zor-El's child made it out? I never would've taken that fool for someone with enough sense to send his child away from planetary destruction" he thinks to himself.
"My name is Zod, I was a soldier with your uncle and loyal to your father, I promise to take good care of you." She looks back at Zod who gives her a warm smile and through her tears she gives him the tiniest little smile back.
3 Years Later
"Summer grows hotter everyday as this upcoming week in smallville we have-" a loud crash causes the woman watching her tv to completely drop her coffee all over her floor. She quickly rushes to the window to see smoke quickly rising close to her location and a man who looks injured standing in the middle of the smoke. She runs outside without hesitation to meet up with this seemingly injured man. As she approaches she notices him holding his ears and making pained grunting noises.
"Relax, relax it's okay, I'm here. Focus on me and my voice okay?" She says to the man, giving him a smile. His eyes widen a bit as he hyper fixates on her and her voice causing the immense pain in his ears to slowly die down. As his hearing starts to normalize his memories of his now destroyed homeworld begin to flow back into him and he has a massive breakdown. The lady just embraces him as his emotions pour out.
The Next Day
Jor-El awakens in a cold sweat with a towel over his head. "No no it must've been a dream all of it. Please."Jor-El says to himself trying to stand up but failing.
"Hey woah you're not fit to be out of bed, please get some rest." a woman calls to him.
"Who the hell are you?" He asks, "Why am I here?"
"My name is Martha Kent. I don't know how you got here but you appeared yesterday suddenly in pain and sobbing. You eventually passed out and I brought you in here to take care of you."
"What? Where am I? Was it all real?" Jor-El asks himself, grabbing at his head which begins to flare up in pain.
"Please lay down and I'll answer all the questions you want." Martha says with concern in her voice. Against his best judgment he lays down in the bed.
"Where am I? What planet is this?" Jor-El asks with confusion in his voice.
Martha chuckles, "are you serious? We are on earth!"
"So it wasn't a dream, Krypton really was destroyed…" Jor-El says to himself.
"What happened? I heard you talking a bit in your sleep about destruction and your family."
Jor-El takes a long pause before speaking again. "My planet was invaded by someone called Brainiac. It only took him a matter of hours to completely destroy our planet and as far as I know, I'm the last known survivor."
"Oh gosh dear, I'm so sorry. I don't even know what to say I-" a loud knock on the door quickly interrupts the two of them.
"Stay here and rest up, I'll take care of this" she says sternly as she gets up to answer the door.
"Hello, my name is Alexander Luthor Jr. Son of Alexander Luthor and heir to the lexcorp empire. I am here on behalf of Lexcorp to investigate the strange item that entered the atmosphere as well as landed around here."
"What are you talking about?" Martha asks.
"Ma'am did you not hear or see anything land around this area last night? Any unidentifiable objects or out of place explosion?" he asks in an annoyed tone.
"Nope, and I don't appreciate you people coming to my property looking to investigate without the proper paperwork!" She scolds the man before slamming the door in his face. As he walks through the cornfield headed towards his car at the front of his farm he trips on a strange object sticking out of the earth. He looks back at his leg and quickly crawls back to where he tripped. He takes one look at the farm but from where he was you couldn't really get a clear view. He brushes the first off the top of where he tripped and reveals an alien ship.
"Didn't see anything my ass" he thinks to himself.
He brushes away the sand and dirt on the top of the pod and notices a load of green shards sitting on top of a latch. He pockets the green shards and pulls the hatch opening a door to enter the escape pod. Upon entering he sees technology that he is sure isn't human technology. He tries to see what he can do to turn on the pod and gather information but accidentally sets off an alarm. He panics and quickly retreats outside of the pod and back to his car where he quickly speeds away.
Somewhere Deep In Space
"Zod, there's something strange going on over here!" Kara calls out.
Zod quickly runs to the front of the ship and finds the scouter lighting up for the first time in years. "After all these years, the last kryptonian finally reveals themselves!" Zod says with a laugh, "THIS IS AMAZING!"
Kara's face lights up seeing Zod finally smile for the first time in three years.
"Kara set us a course for earth" Zod says.
Back on Earth - 3 days later
Jor-El wakes up and for the first time in days is able to get out of bed and move properly on his own. He stumbles down the stairs looking for Martha who is nowhere to be found. He checks out the window to the back of the farm and sees her standing over a grave with her hands clasped together. He walks outside and meets her at the grave before replicating her hand gesture.
"Well look he can finally leave the bed on his own two feet" she says jokingly.
"Thank you for everything the last few days. I don't know if I could ever repay you properly." Jor-El says to Martha sincerely.
"Don't worry about it really, I helped you because you needed me and it was the right thing to do." Jor-El grows speechless, he'd never encountered someone this nice and caring before.
"I know you mentioned losing your planet and your family. I am so sorry for everything that's happened to you."
"Being a soldier my whole life I thought would help me prepare for moments like those but nothing prevents the neverending sorrow you feel losing everyone you've ever loved. I've had a lot of time to think while in that bed and I've decided that I am going to ensure that no one else has to go through what I did. No one should go through the pain of losing their family, of losing their people." Martha pats him on the shoulder.
"That's noble, you remind me exactly of my husband." Martha says with tears welling up in her eyes.
"His name was Jonathan Kent and he's buried right at this very grave. We owned and lived on this farm together for 20 years. Unfortunately a few years back he had a heart attack in his sleep and died before morning. Not a day goes by where I don't miss him." She puts her hand over her mouth and begins to silently cry into her hand. Jor-El gives her a quick embrace which helps her snap out of her tears. She then pulls out of his arms.
"I never asked you your name by the way, what is it?"
"My name is Jor-El. I was the head scientist on my planet and one of our top generals for many years before that."
"Well Jor-El, it's nice to properly meet you." Martha says, giving him a small grin. "Now maybe you can start helping me with the farming."
Later That Night
Jor-El wakes up and walks downstairs. He sees Lara making breakfast with Kal already sitting at the table. "What… what are you guys-"
"Surprised to see me dad? Maybe it's because you didn't save me." Kal says turning to his father. "No no I tried I really did, please you got to trust me, I loved you Kal I'd give anything to have you both back."
"Then why don't you join us dear? After all you failed to save us and now we are both dead. Kal was supposed to be the future of Krypton, the future of our people and now look at us." Lara and Kal's skin slowly begins to melt off.
"STOP IT NO PLEASE STOP!" Jor-El pleads as he awakens in the farmhouse he's staying in. He gets up and walks to Martha's room to find her still fast asleep. Light just barely pours through the windows as Jor-El goes outside to take a walk. After a while he ends up in a little neighborhood also located in smallville. The morning air helps Jor-El clear his mind and his shaking dies down a bit.
"Listen here you little shits, I know your parents are loaded. Give me all your fucking money NOW! In the bag or I'll shoot you."
"Please stop DON'T HURT MY BROTHER!" Jor-El hears in the distance. He looks all around him but realizes the argument isn't near him. He begins to sprint in the direction of the argument where it's getting louder and eventually stumbles upon an alleyway where a man is holding up two kids with a pistol.
"I'm gonna count till 3 and if there ain't at least 100$ in the bag I'm killing you both. 1….2…."
"HEY JACKASS!" Jor-El calls from behind and as the guy turns around Jor-El goes to punch him and accidentally destroys his face sending blood flying all over the wall next to him and the kids. The guy drops to the ground dead and the younger brother begins to sob as the older brother shakes profusely. Jor-El can hear their heartbeats begin beating 10 times faster than they were beating before.
"You didn't have to kill him.." The older brother says incredibly shaken before grabbing his younger brother off the ground.
"I-I didn't mean for this to happen I-"
"DON'T COME NEAR US!" The older brother yells as he runs away. Jor-El panicked and not knowing what to do, ran back in the direction he came.
Later that Day
Lex Luthor bursts into Lexcorp and approaches the top level with a bag and paper in hand.
"Father, I have some massive news that could change the history of the world forever."
"What is it boy?" his father asks, "I have a lot on my plate today."
"Yesterday I stumbled across a ship which was the unidentified object we observed crashing through the atmosphere. There I found these green shards." He says holding up the bag in his hand.
"Really?" his father asks skeptically.
"Yes and then not even a few hours ago the daily planet released this article about two young boys who noted that while being robbed someone punched a man's face off with a single punch and fled the scene."
"Interesting, well my hands are tied unfortunately so I will not be able to follow up on this myself right now." his father says. Lex Luthor Jr. looks down to the ground in disappointment.
"However I put you in charge of this case entirely. I will give you some of Lexcorps resources and however many men you think you'll need to take this alien alive."
Lex's face lights up, "Thank you father, I won't fail you."
At the Kent Farm
Jor-El arrives at the farm with blood on his hands and face shaken. Martha notices him through the window and runs outside to meet him.
"What happened? Why are you covered in blood?"
"I tried to stop a man from robbing some children, but in just one punch I accidentally killed him…. I don't know what's happening to me. Ever since arriving to earth I can feel my senses and physical strength growing ten fold."
"You tried to do the right thing, you didn't mean to kill him" Martha says putting her hand on his bloodied face.
"You have the strength to make a difference, to be a symbol for the people of earth you just need to learn how to control it."
"I know Martha, but I don't know if that's what I want to be. How do you think the world would react to someone like me? Those kids looked at me like I was a monster."
"It's your choice Jor-El, but I know you have a good heart." She says giving him a smile that immediately melts his worries away.
"Why would you go through all this for me Martha? Ever since I've arrived here you've done nothing but help and take care of me. I'm not a good person, I've killed plenty of people in my time as a soldier. I've done a lot of bad things I wish I could change."
"Because I can tell you have changed. You sprung into action to save those kids without a second of hesitation. You remind me of someone I used to know who wanted to be strong, who wanted to make a difference but didn't know how. I promise you whatever you decide to do with your life I will be there to support you."
"Thank you Martha I-" Jor-El is interrupted by the sounds of motors pulling up to the farmhouse.
"Shit they're here, Jor-El please go inside and hide. I'll think of something to keep them occupied."
Jor-El quickly runs inside as Luthor and his men get out of the vehicles. Luthor's men ready themselves at the entrance of the farm with their guns pointed at the door.
"Mrs. Kent we will be searching your property on behalf of Lexcorp under suspicion of harboring an alien."
"You bastards think you're the police, I bet you still don't even have a-"
"Warrant? Yeah I actually got it right here." he says holding up a piece of paper. "Get in there and get him boys" Lex says, shoving Martha to the ground.
One of Lex's men readies himself to kick the door down but instead the door flies off the hinges sending the guy flying backwards.
"DON'T YOU EVER TOUCH HER AGAIN YOU BASTARDS!" Jor-El yells as he lunges forward and punches one of the men, sending him flying back lifelessly. One of them fires at Jor-El with the bullets just bouncing off of him.
"What the fuck is he!" he shouts before getting grabbed and thrown into a tree.
"Shit Luthor this guy is crazy, we can't do shit to him!"
"I have an idea, but if it doesn't work then tell my dad I'm sorry" Luthor says to the man next to him. He pulls out the green shards from his pocket and holds them out slowly approaching Jor-El. As Luthor gets closer to Jor-El he begins to slowly walk back and then falls to his knees. Luthor smirks, "QUICK TIE HIM UP!" he yells to the remaining me left standing.
"Luthor holy shit you're gonna wanna see this!" he hears from behind as he's holding the shards to Jor-El. He turns around the looks at the sky to see another pod entering the atmosphere.
"Shit more of them, quick load him into the car, we gotta get him back to the lab for testing."
They load up Jor-El into one of the vehicles and make their way back towards Metropolis.
Landing Zone of Zod's Ship
"At last we are so close to finding this Kryptonian, I've-" Zod says but immediately begins to hold his ears as sound pours into them too fast to comprehend.
"Zod what's wrong-" Kara asks before she also has the same thing happen to her.
Zod slowly focuses his hearing until it's completely normal.
"It's okay Kara, focus on me, focus on my voice. It'll go away soon."
After a few minutes of hyperventilating and panicking the sounds in her ears slowly begin to die down.
"Good, now we are only a few kilometers from finding this Kryptonian." Zod says with a smile on his face."
Later on the Kent Farm
Zod and Kara arrive to find a few bodies laying around, police officers and Martha all outside the farm.
"Hey who the hell are you? This is a crime scene you can't-" Zod backhands the cop in the face killing him instantly. He looks down at his hand and then up at the yellow sun before muttering to himself, "so it's true."
"Hey all you earth people" Zod says interrupting the crime scene, "have you seen a Kryptonian around here? I don't know what they look like but we are missing one of our own and we are here to get him back."
"Hey you're not supposed to be here, what the hell is with that armor?" a cop says raising his weapon at Zod. Martha yells at the police to stop before approaching Zod.
"You're here to see the Kryptonian on earth?" she asks hopefully.
"Yes, what can you tell us?" Kara asks her with happiness in her voice.
"He was taken a few hours back to a place called Lexcorp in Metropolis. If you need directions just look for the building with the massive planet on top in the distance over there, that's Metropolis."
Zod smirks, "thank you lady, however I have one question, did this Kryptonian say his name at all?"
"My name's Martha and yes, his name is Jor-El." Zod's eyes widen, and Kara's eyes begin to water profusely.
"Zod let's go get him, he's the only family I have left."
"And more importantly he may be the last hope for Krypton" Zod mutters to himself before he and Kara quickly run off towards Metropolis.
At Lexcorp Tower
Jor-El wakes up strapped to a table with a few of the Kryptonite shards scattered around the area to keep him weakened.
"Ah you're finally awake alien. My name is Alexander Luthor Jr. but you can just call me Lex."
"What-what the hell are you doing with me?" Jor-El asks weakly.
"Just gonna run some tests, don't worry we aren't gonna kill you yet." Luthor says with a little chuckle. Minutes feel like hours as Luthor takes blood from Jor-El and tests what elements or objects are effective against him. Alarms begin to blare all around the tower.
"Shit, that wasn't nearly enough time, how'd they get here so fast!" Luthor questions as the entire place begins to shake. Luthor turns towards the door after hearing a noise but is sent flying backwards as the wall on the other side explodes. The Kryptonite shards fly backwards and all the equipment in the lab is destroyed.
"Jor-El of the house of El, one of the last surviving members of our once great species Krypton." Jor-El snaps himself out of his binds and sits up to come face to face with his lifelong friend and his niece. Tears begin to flow from his and Kara's eyes as they embrace each other upon reuniting. "It's so good to see you Kara" he says softly.
"I missed you so much uncle" she says crying into his shoulder. They break their embrace and Jor-El smiles as he approaches Zod and the two of them shake hands.
"It's good to see you Zod, it's good to see you both. I really thought I was the last of our kind left." Jor-El says with glee and a hint of sorrow in his voice.
"With you here now Jor-El, not only is there more of us left but you can help us bring Krypton back!" Zod says with pure joy in his voice.
"What? What are you talking about bring Krypton back?" Jor-El says confused.
"You were the most brilliant scientist on Krypton, you helped us thrive for generations. If anyone can think of a way to bring it back, it's you!"
"No Zod, that's not possible, not even the greatest scientists in the world could bring back planets. Besides Krypton has it's chance, and they failed, they couldn't even heed your warning about Brainiac and his invasion, what makes you think it would go any better the second time?"
"Because Jor-El, the rumors about the yellow sun were true, we do get powers under the influence of the sun. This battle armor helps us absorb it even better as well. If we learned to harness this power we Kryptonians could be an unstoppable force! Nothing would stand in our way of ruling the galaxy!"
"I'm sorry Zod, it's just not possible. Our species is done."
"So you're unwilling to even try?" Zod asks with anger and fury now filling his once cheerful voice.
"Hey what the hell is going on here?" Lex Luthor Sr. calls, interrupting Zod and Jor-El.
"Get out of here now, this isn't-" Jor-El tries to warn Luthor before being weakened by the shards of Kryptonite Luthor Sr. begins to hold out. Out of instinct alone or perhaps out of desperation Jor-El shoves Luthor Sr. backwards causing him to slam his head onto the table Jor-El was once sprawled upon instantly breaking his neck.
"FATHER NO!" Luthor Jr. cries before scurrying over his his father's corpse.
"I-I didn't mean-"
"SO YOU CARE MORE ABOUT THE LIFE OF A HUMAN ENEMY THAN YOU DO YOUR ENTIRE SPECIES?" Zod screams at Jor-EL before launching forward and grabbing him by the neck.
"Please don't do this Zod, I don't wanna fight!" Kara pleads.
"He betrayed Krypton Kara, I can't allow him to get away alive." Zod says throwing Jor-El out of the hole in the wall. Jor-El begins to hover in the sky after being tossed out of the hole. "Zod is this really how it's gonna be after all our years together?" Jor-El pleads one final time.
"Yes!" Zod calls flying after Jor-El and slamming him through another building and pinning him against the wall. Jor-El headbutts him, sending him flying backwards. He begins to move towards Zod before Kara flies in front of him and holds him back, "Please uncle, there's gotta be a different way!"
"Zod made his choice!" Jor-El says looking straight at Kara. Zod begins to laugh on the ground.
"What the hell is so funny Zod?" Jor-El asks angrily.
"I was just thinking that after I kill you I'll destroy this world too starting with, what's that woman's name? Martha?"
"FUCK YOU!" Jor-El screams as his eyes heat up red and he blasts Zod straight in the chest, sending him flying back out of the building into the sky. He shoves Kara to the side and flies after Zod, punching him straight in the face. They both trade blows with each other in the sky going back and forth. Zod gets the upper hand and slams Jor-El down into the earth below creating a massive crater. He wraps his hands around Jor-El's throat and begins to squeeze as hard as he can. Jor-El struggles as Zod taunts him.
"Couldn't save Lara, couldn't save Krypton, couldn't save Kal and now you're about to lose another planet and another family. You truly are a pathetic man Jor-El, I can't believe I ever called you friend."
As Jor-El feels himself fading an arm wraps around Zod's neck and snaps it sending a shockwave throughout the city. Zod's lifeless body falls next to Jor-El as he looks up to see Kara completely in tears. She lets out a cry that drowns out every other sound in the city as Jor-El gets up and embraces his niece.
"I didn't want to- I just- he"
"It's okay Kara, it's okay I'm here for you." Jor-El says through bated breath. Sirens wail all around them and people begin to surround the area they're in. Kara wraps Jor-El's arm around her and flies away with him.
At the Kent Farm Later That Night
Kara and Jor-El land outside where Martha is sitting on the porch.
She runs up to Jor-El and hugs him with tears in her eyes, "I heard about the destruction in the city and about the fight. I was so worried about you!" She says through the sobs.
"I'm okay, she saved me." he says, breaking away from Martha's embrace pointing at Kara.
"Thank you for taking care of him." Martha says sincerely to Kara. Kara remains silent and looks down to the ground.
"Let's go inside and get some rest." Martha notices Kara's silence.
They go inside and their wounds are tended to by Martha. Eventually Martha goes to sleep leaving Jor-El and Kara to talk amongst themselves.
"I didn't know he was like that. I've been with him for 3 years since it all happened and not once did he ever say anything crazy like that."
"Kara, Zod was my best friend. We fought countless wars together for the sake of Krypton and he wanted nothing more than for us to thrive. I think that after we lost everything and he was powerless to stop it something snapped in his head. This in no way is your fault Kara. I want you to know that."
"I know uncle, I know I just can't stop thinking about what happened, about him. He raised me these last few years and helped shape me into who I am." Jor-El grabs her by the arm and pulls her in close.
"I remember when you and Kal would run around all the time and pretend to be superheroes. You guys always talked about how you were gonna grow up to be tougher than me." Jor-El says with tears in his eyes. "You saved me today, you've grown up a lot Kara and part of growing up is making the hard choices that even some of us adults can't make." He says looking down at her and cracking a little smile which she gives back.
"Oh I forgot, I have something for you." Kara says.
"What would that be?"
"When my mother sent me away, she sent me with this" she pulls out her father's royal armor from his time as the leader of Krypton. "It has our symbol of hope and is said to be the strongest armor of Krypton, I want you to have it."
"Thank you, but what about you? Why don't you keep it?" He asks her while reluctantly taking the armor.
"Because Zod gave me this, and I plan on wearing it in honor of the Zod I knew who took care of me for years." Kara says with a reminiscent smile on her face.
The Next Morning
Martha wakes up to find Kara sleeping on the couch, but Jor-El standing outside.
"What's going on out here? It's awfully early in the morning." Martha asks with confusion. Jor-El turns around to reveal the royal armor he was gifted by Kara.
"I've been thinking a lot about what you said Martha and after what happened yesterday I've decided I want to help this planet and these people. I wanna try and give them the lives my people never got to fully live."
Martha gives him a big smile, "I knew that would be your decision."
Jor-El gives her a smile back.
