Saiyans of Eldia
"Mind telling us what we're doing in your Workshop?" Kaen questioned his sister as he, Mina, and Eri walked through the attic workshop of their house.
"Yeah, Kaen promised me we'd take our flight to America for our Disney World vacation today." Mina said, dressed in nothing but a bikini top, and a mini-shorts, completed with a vest.
"Mama, Papa, when are we going?" Eri asked, dressed in a pair of red overalls and a blue t-shirt. "I wanna see Disney World, and I wanna meet the big talking Mouse." She had a hat on her head with two big round ears.
"We'll be leaving soon. Aunt Athena just has a few things she wants our help with. An' you'll be able to meet Mickey Mouse when we get there." Mina said.
"She's already wearing a Mickey Mouse Hat." Kaen chuckled.
"I was hoping you'd give my new invention a whirl." Athena said, pulling their attention to her, before holding up something that looked like a watch. "It's supposed to replicate the Instant Teleportation Quirk I have in my arsenal, with more efficiency and pin point accuracy to one's location, but in order for it to work, one of you needs to wear it."
"How exactly does it work?" Kaen questioned.
"Well when you put it on, you press the red button, and a hard-light holographic screen will be projected, and ask for coordinates." Athena explained. "It's still experimental, so start with a small distance, before going for a bigger one."
"Are you sure this is safe?" Mina inquired.
"I'm 50/50 on this." Athena said. "It could go either way."
"Alright, here goes." Kaen said.
"Careful Papa." Eri said.
Pressing the red button, Kaen brought up the hard-light screen, and put in five feet for the distance to teleport.
"Put a little more distance than that. Try putting in an address or a corner store that's nearby." Athena said.
"Are all Saiyans this nutty with tech?" Mina asked, holding Eri's hand. "'Cause I don't wanna end up like that."
"I think it's just an Athena thing." Kaen said, putting in the closest convenience store location. "I think she's been hanging around Rose, and Hatsume for too long."
"Hey!" Athena mock gasped. "They are not that bad. An' neither of them have caused anything to explode since I became a surrogate. So don't go mocking me or my friends, just because you don't understand how technology works."
"She's gonna rant again." Eri said.
"Fine, fine. Be back in a minute." Kaen sighed, before he disappeared. A short while waiting later, Kaen reappeared in the attic workshop, holding three Fruit Punch Rockstars.
"Who's thirsty?" Kaen smiled.
"I am." Eri smiled.
"Nice one." Mina smiled. "Hey Athena, can Kaen, Eri, and I take this to Disney World to avoid plane expenses?"
"I don't see why not." Athena said. "Just grab onto him before he leaves, and you should disappear with him."
"Alright, this should be good." Mina smiled.
"Got any Quirks for us before we go?" Kaen asked.
"I do for Mina actually, and I've been working on my deliverance, so you shouldn't feel any pain when I give them to you." Athena smiled. "I was wanting to wait until I had complete control over the deliverance of the Quirks to make them painless, so now's a perfect time." Athena smiled, Mina's face. Her hand lit up as she transferred copies of the chosen Quirk, before removing her hand. "There. How do you feel?"
"I've got a slight headache, but other than that I'm fine." Mina said. "What Quirks did you give me?"
"Well, I gave you a merged combination of two different Quirks I melded into one. But before I tell you what they are…" Athena smiled, looking over to her twin brother. "Kaen, why don't you go down stairs and grab your groups travel bags?"
"Oh right, be right back." Kaen said, running down the stairs of the attic.
"Okay spill, what did you give me?" Mina asked with a smile.
"Stick this… between your breasts." Athena smiled, holding up one of the two remaining cans of Rockstars, Eri already drinking one of them.
Mina took the can, and the instant it touched her bare skin, she shivered, feeling how cold it was from the convenience store fridge.
"Oooh, that's cold." Mina said, looking down after she shoved it all the way in. "Huh, where'd it go? I can't feel it anymore."
"Reach in, and pull it out." Athena said.
Mina did so, and was shocked her chest felt like an endless void, before she felt the can, grabbed it and pulled it out.
"Whoa." She smiled.
"Now reach in again." Athena smiled.
Mina did so, and to her surprise she felt another can, and pulled it out.
"What the? I could have sworn I only stuck the one can in there." Mina said. "What Quirks did you merge together, exactly Athena?"
"The two Quirks I merged together were Pocket Void, and Duplication." Athena smiled, enjoying the look of shock on Mina's face. "I call this Quirk, Duplication Void. Anything that's been in there once, you can create an infinite number of, and they're an exact duplicate, down to the last atom. I have it myself, and tested its limits. You can use it for storage, without duplicating the item if you want it that way. But it can also be used for safety reasons. Like hiding someone and protecting them from danger, without any risk to any long term stays."
"Cool." Mina smiled.
"Now Mama's chest is more then just a distraction for Papa when he gets mad at her for something stupid she did." Eri pointed out.
"What was that?" Athena questioned.
"Any other Quirks you give me?" Mina asked, wanting to change the subject as her face flushed violet.
"I couldn't really think of any others you might want. Any abilities on your mind, in particular you might desire?" Athena inquired.
"Hmm… I guess you do have a point. I can't really think of anything." Mina said, before an idea came to her. "Oh wait, I just thought of one. Can you give me a Quirk that allows me to permanently change my appearance? Like skin tone, or changing colors for camouflage?"
"What for?"
"I'd like to see what I'd look like with different colors of skin, like neon blue, or maybe emerald green, oh, how about purple, or maybe orange, what about Simpson Yellow?" Mina smiled excitedly.
"I guess that could work." Athena chuckled, putting her hand on Mina's face. "An' I have just the Quirk to give." After her fingers and hand glowed a bit, Athena removed her hand, and smiled at Mina. "Try thinking about what color you want your skin."
Mina smiled and closed her eye before it began to change, and her skin became a deep royal blue. "Wow, that's so cool." Mina smiled, before switching her skin back to pink.
"I gave you a simple camouflage Quirk, but since I upgraded it with Xerox, it can do more than just make you blend in with backgrounds." Athena explained.
"Anything for me Aunt Athena?" Eri asked.
"I have just the thing." Athena smiled, grabbing something from her Duplication Void, and putting it around Eri's shoulder. "This is a fanny pack made with Duplication Void, and a special sweet treat for you inside."
"Thank you Aunt Athena." Eri smiled, before she went running for the exit. "There's something I forgot to grab."
"I'm back you two." Kaen said, coming up with his and Mina's luggage, while Eri ran past him. "Where's Eri going?"
"Apparently she forgot to grab something." Mina said. "I can take the luggage." She smiled, taking the bags, and shoving them into her Duplication Void.
"Whoa." Kaen said with a blush. "That is a pretty handy Quirk."
"I know right?" Mina smiled, enjoying the flustered look on his face, as she tossed him the duplicated energy drink.
"One more thing." Athena said, tossing them a small sack, sounding like they were filled with something. "Celeron said, he went to the other earth during these last six years we haven't seen him right?"
"Yeah, he spied on Kakarot and learned that Kamehameha attack from watching him perform it several times." Kaen said. "He also brought back something that instantly healed his injuries. He called them Senzu Beans."
"Well you'll be happy to know, with the Senzu Bean you gave me, I managed to make my own garden of them." Athena said, tossing Kaen the bag. "That is filled with about twenty five Senzu Beans."
"I got this." Mina said, taking the beans and putting them where she'd put the luggage.
"Alright, you're all set to go." Athena said. "Now, you're just waiting on Eri."
"I'm back." Eri called out, running back up to them. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
"Now that everyone going on this trip is here, Disney World here we come." Mina said, as Kaen put the coordinates into the watch.
"Here we go." Kaen smiled hitting enter, as Mina grabbed Eri's hand, while grabbing Kaen's with the other.
The watch began to power up, but Athena knew there was something wrong when the teleportation device began to glitch, and apparently, she wasn't the only one to notice this malfunction.
"Athena, what's going on?" Kaen questioned.
"I don't know. Something's wrong. I tested out every simulation I needed to before making this, and it's never happened in any of them." Athena said looking at the device. "The watch is malfunctioning. The distance is too great for it to handle in its beta testing phase."
"This is bad." Kaen said. "I can't get it off."
"Hold on Kaen, we'll get it off you." Mina said grabbing at it.
Kaen saw the device was overloading, and about to blow. Looking to Mina, Kaen pushed her and Eri back, not wanting either of them to get caught up in the explosion.
"Hold on, I've got a remote somewhere to remotely undo the locks." Athena said, searching through her workshop.
"I don't think we have the time." Mina said.
"You three find cover." Kaen ordered her the three girls.
"No, I won't leave you Papa." Eri cried out, hugging him tight.
"Eri, you have to leave, and find cover to avoid the explosion." Kaen said.
"No, if you're going down, we're going with you." Mina said, taking Eri into her arms, and grabbing Kaen's hand. "I'm positive this won't kill you, so wherever this thing takes us, we'll see it through, together."
"Mina…" Kaen paused. "I'm sorry for getting you and Eri into this mess."
"You didn't get us into this mess. We chose to be here." Mina said with a soft smile.
Kaen pulled Mina and Eri in for a hug, as the three of them embraced one another for the inevitable explosion. Without a sound, the device connected to Kaen's wrist went off, enveloping the trio in a flash of light, before the loud boom echoed out, causing the windows to burst, and for the building to quake.
"Athena?" Toshinori called out, racing into the workshop with Gine, both of them gasping when they saw the attic looked like a bomb had gone off. "Athena?" He inquired with a bit more panic in his voice.
"Over here." Athena called out, pushing a table off her, and coughing up the smoke in her lungs, caressing her pregnant curve.
"Athena what happened?" Gine questioned, running to Athena, to see if she, or her cargo, was all right. "Are you hurt anywhere? Are the babies okay?"
Gine and Toshinori noticed the look of sadness and pain on her face, before she broke down, crying into her mother's embrace.
"I'm sorry mom, dad." Athena balled. "I'm sorry. I couldn't stop it, and… and…"
"Hey, it's okay, you're safe now." Toshinori said.
"But it's not okay." Athena said. "Kaen, Mina, and Eri were up here to and they… I let them use my latest invention to go to Disney World, to skip the long flights, and my device malfunctioned and…"
"What was your device meant to do?" Toshinori asked, knowing Athena would never intend to invent something that was meant for harming innocent people.
"It was supposed to utilize the Instant Teleportation Quirk I have in my Xerox arsenal. Kaen tested it by going to the store and coming back with some drinks, but it couldn't handle the distance from here to Florida." Athena explained.
"Where are they now Athena. Where are Kaen, Mina, and Eri now?" Gine inquired.
Athena just began crying and pushed herself deeper into Gine's embrace.
"Gine… I think I know what happened to them." Toshinori said, solemnly.
Gine turned to Toshinori, and saw he was looking, directly at one of the walls. Turning her gaze to match his, she gasped, when she saw three silhouettes of ash, embracing each other.
"Oh no." Gine gasped.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have been so prideful of my device, and let them use it." Athena sobbed. "Mina was certain that the explosion wouldn't kill them, that it would only take them somewhere else. But now, I can't help but feel she was wrong."
"This isn't your fault sweetie." Gine said, as she began to tear up.
"Why would you build something like that in the first place though?" Toshinori inquired.
"I thought if I did, Heroes could get to villain attacks faster and there'd be less property damage or casualties as a result." Athena cried.
"Oh, Athena." Toshinori said, pulling her into a hug. "You're always thinking of others safety before your own. An' I'm proud of you for that."
"C'mon, the fire department and police are gonna be here soon." Gine said. "Let's get out of the attic to let them do their job. No doubt an ambulance to. They're gonna want to take you to the hospital after this mess."
~Wall Maria~
"Ow, my head hurts." Mina's voice echoed in Kaen's ears as he began to awaken. "Ah, my entire body is hurting."
"Mina, is anything broken? Anything missing?" Kaen asked, blinking away the sun light as he got up.
"I think my sanity might be missing." Mina said.
"Why's that?" Kaen inquired, rubbing his eyes to get rid of the spots as he was bent over.
"Look around and you'll see."
Looking up, Kaen was instantly taken aback as he saw nothing but clear fields in front of him.
"Holy…"
"There hasn't been any clean nature like this since the 1900's." Mina stated.
"Papa, Mama, look." Eri said, facing the other way.
Turning around, Kaen and Mina gasped, when they saw the ruins of a civilization. Looking down from where they stood, they realized they were standing on top of a wall, looking down on the entire city.
"How high up are we?" Mina inquired.
"Hard to say. But I'd think 40Meters at least." Kaen stated.
"Are we… are we alone here Papa?" Eri asked.
"I don't know Kitten." Kaen said, picking her up. "Let's go down bellow and see what's going on."
Jumping down the wall, Kaen and Mina flew along the surface, before slowing their descent, and flying through the destroyed buildings, and rubble, searching around, before Mina stopped and her eyes widened when they landed one something she saw.
"Kaen." Mina said in a bit of panic.
Kaen stopped and flew back to where Mina was, staring horror, before he looked and instantly kept Eri from looking. There on the ground, were heaps of skeletons, looking partially melted and digested, while they were all clumped together like a single mass.
"This is horrible." Kaen said.
"What kind of Quirk could do something like this?" Mina questioned.
"I can think of one." Kaen stated, looking to Eri, and remembering his battle with Overhaul in the Suicide Forest.
"Kaen, look at this." Mina said, spotting something else.
Kaen looked to where Mina flew to, and saw a house, almost completely crushed by a giant boulder, with part of it still standing.
"If there's anything in there, should we take it?" Mina inquired.
"These buildings look like they've been abandoned for years. So no body would be living in them in this state. Let's see what we can find." Kaen said, putting Eri down as their feet touched the ground.
Heading into the half destroyed building, the trio looked around to see if they would be able to find something to help them, but everything seemed less modern and more old school, like they were living in the age of the Industrial Revolution.
"Everything seems like it's either decayed or rusted away." Mina said.
"I know what you mean. Not to mention, none of this stuff looks like it was made in a factory. It all looks hand made." Kaen said.
"Mama, Papa, I found something." Eri called to them.
Kaen and Mina went to where Eri was, and saw that she found a secret compartment in the stone part of the wall, holding a case of some sort.
"Let's see what we got in here." Kaen said, pulling the case out of the wall.
"Hopefully something that could help us call for help." Mina stated.
Opening the case up, Kaen sighed in disappointment when he saw it wasn't filled with that. Instead of something to call for help with, the case was filled with an empty syringe and a jar of clear liquid.
"It's not something that could help. It's either some sort of medicine, or illegal drug that was being developed and hidden away from law enforcement." Kaen said, giving the case to Mina. "Still it might come in handy if we need it."
"Can we try your Scouter?" Mina asked putting the case in her Duplication Void.
"I doubt it." Kaen stated. "With how everything looks around here, I don't think we're in a place with computers or communications technology that advanced."
"Where do you think we are, anyway Papa?" Eri asked.
"If I had to guess, in the past of an alternate timeline, where something happened that required the construction of that giant wall." Kaen stated.
"Really Kaen?" Mina asked, raising an eyebrow.
"It's a possibility Mina." Kaen said. "Who knows what kind of powers that device of Athena's had that not even she knew about. Or maybe she did, maybe she added a secret function for it to teleport through time, not just space, and didn't bother to tell us."
"Alright I get what you're saying." Mina sighed.
"I'm gonna at least use my Scouter to try and…"
Kaen stopped talking, when the ground began to shake. Running out of the house, Kaen and Mina gasped at what they saw.
Heading straight for them, was giant of a man running weirdly at them, and a smile on its face.
"What the hell kind of Quirk is that?" Mina questioned.
"I don't think that's a Quirk." Kaen said, crouching down with one leg behind him. "Stay down."
Leaping forward, Kaen went towards the giant of a man, and slammed his fist into its face, with One-for-All, coursing through his entire body.
"Detroit… SMASH." Kaen shouted, sending the creature's head flying.
"Kaen." Mina gasped in horror as Kaen landed on the ground.
"I don't think that killed it." Kaen said. "Look at the neck."
Mina looked at the neck, and stared in horror, as the flesh and bone, began rebuilding themselves.
"Come on. We gotta get back to the top of the wall." Kaen said, grabbing both Eri and Mina, before taking off to the air.
Landing back on the top of the wall, Kaen set Eri and Mina down and looked back to see the monster looking around for them, with its head back fully regrown, before it went running off in another direction, traveling inland.
"What the hell was that thing?" Mina questioned.
"I don't know." Kaen said, pulling a pair of sunglasses from his pocket, and putting them on, before pressing a red button. "But whatever it was, it explains why this place is deserted and in ruins."
"What are you talking about Papa?" Eri inquired.
"It's not that hard to figure out Kitten." Kaen said. "If there's more then one of those things, and they eat humans, then it stands to reason, this wall was meant to keep them out, and the breach in the wall caused them to come flooding in, forcing the inhabitants to go further inland, probably to another fortified area, with much less space then before."
"What are you doing?" Mina asked.
"I'm using my Scouter to pick up on any life forms. If there are people still alive, then my Scouter should be able to pick it up. For some reason, the walls are messing with my ability to sense Ki, I don't know if it's because of the material they're made of, but I do know, they're not made of normal stone." Kaen explained. "We can try to figure this out later, where we are, and what we need to do, but right now we need to try and help those who may need it."
"Right, okay you're right. That's what heroes do, and that's what we're going to do." Mina said.
"I've got something." Kaen said, his Scouter picking something up. "Further in, there's hundreds of thousands of people. An' the Scouter is picking up a lot of anxiety."
"More of those monsters?" Mina asked.
"Possibly." Kaen stated. "Keep to the top of the wall, and follow it like a trail. You should be safe should you continue to do that."
"Where are you going?" Mina asked.
"I'm gonna cut through the middle." Kaen said, taking a running start.
Before Mina could reply to that, Kaen took off flying further into the walls, quickly passing the next visible wall within seconds. As she watched him fly off, vanishing into the distance, only one thing came to the forefront of her mind.
"Be careful Kaen, come back to us safely."
~Wall Trost~
"What? The hell you mean you're joining the Scouts?" A young man with brown hair, and green eyes questioned, as he and the other recently graduated cadets of the military, were cleaning the barrels of the cannons mounted on top of the walls. This is Eren Jeager. "What happened to the MP, that was your thing."
"Don't worry about it, a guy's allowed to change his mind, okay." Another cadet said, scrubbing the legs of the cannon's stand he was working on. This is Connie Springer.
"I think your speech yesterday lit a fire under him." A third, female cadet said coming up from behind Eren.
"Ain't no body talking to you. His temper tantrum had nothing to do with it." Connie stated with embarrassed anger.
"Take it easy. It's not like your the only one." Another recruit said.
"Can you guys keep a secret?"
They all turned to one of their fellow graduation cadets, and saw she had a bit of a guilty pleasured look on her face. She had long brown hair, and copper brown eyes. This is Sasha Braus.
"Because I totally just helped myself to the officers pantry." She smiled, showing them a slab of meat she was hiding in her cropped jacket.
All the recruits there looked at her, like she'd gone insane, when they saw the meat she was hiding.
"Sasha, they could throw your butt in the clink for that." Eren stated.
"Seriously, what is wrong with you?"
"What isn't wrong with her?" Connie questioned.
"It'll be fine, I'm willing to share. Oh, could you imagine the sandwiches?" Sasha questioned, breathing heavily with a blush on her face like she was about to get Lucky.
"Put it back."
"Yeah. Do you have any idea how rare meat's been, since the titans took Wall Maria?"
"Um, little bit, yeah." Sasha stated going to a munitions crate and putting the meat inside. "Just look at it this way, pretty soon, we'll take back all the room we need for livestock."
There was a moment of silence, before one of them spoke up.
"I would really like a slice please."
"Hey if he gets one, then so do I." Connie said. "Just so you know."
Eren was shocked at this.
"Me too. I'm in on it too."
"But…"
"Come on, don't just stand there." One of the recruits said, as they all got back to work, cleaning the cannons. "If they see us slacking off, we're in for it."
"See you guys at lunch time."
Eren just stood there, smiling at how his fellow cadets were acting so bravely against the commanders, by stealing and eating that meat.
'Has it really been five years?' He questioned, looking out on the city. 'Look at us, ready to stand tall again. We can do it. Mankind didn't start this war, but we're gonna finish it.'
~Kaen~
"Hmm?" Kaen was taken out of concentration as his Scouter went off. "A massive surge of energy was just released, and it's coming from up ahead."
Pushing himself to fly faster, Kaen could feel the wind rolling against his body as he approached the source of the energy surge. What he found however, was shocking. There was a colossal creature, its muscles and tendons completely exposed, standing at the wall, and over it as well. With a swing of its arms, the monster knocked several items off the top of the wall, before it raised its leg, as if preparing to kick something.
"Oh shit." Kaen said, seeing the gates to the city were right in the colossal beasts path. "That must have been what happened to the other wall. Not this time."
Flying faster then hes ever gone before, Kaen flew closer to the ground, bobbing and weaving through all the man eating monster that tried to catch him, before he made it to the colossal beasts ankles, powering himself up with One-for-All.
"One-for-All 50%: California-SMASH." He called out, making himself spin sideways like a thrown saw blade, and striking the colossal beasts ankle, knocking it off balance and down to the ground. "GAH, that is hot as fuck." He cursed, flying into the air and landing on the top of the wall, falling to one knee as his shoe was melted away from the heat, and his foot and ankle was badly burned.
"Hold it." Eren called out, pointing his blade at Kaen. "Who are you, what are you?" He questioned, seeing Kaen's tail.
"Put your weapons down, I'm not with those things down there. An' pointing a blade at the one who just saved your city from being invaded again, is not a very nice way to say thank you." Kaen grumbled. 'The pain's dissipating, either that or the nerves were damaged and my ankle's gone numb.'
"You took down the Colossal Titan?" Connie questioned.
"Titans? That's what those things are called?" Kaen questioned. "Anyways, I only knocked that thing on its ass. I knocked the head off a smaller one earlier, but it just grew back nearly instantly. I don't have a clue as to how to kill it."
"You gotta destroy the nape of the neck." Eren said. "But right now, you're not going anywhere." He stated, before there was more rumbling.
"I think we have bigger problems to worry about." Kaen said, looking over the wall, just before he had to pull back, as the Colossal Titan was back on its feet.
"Shit, everyone it's back." Eren called out as the Titan's hand began to come down on them.
Without even thinking, Kaen jumped to his feet, and grabbed as many people as his arms could carry, before flying off and away from the oncoming attack. Flying into the air, Kaen turned around, just as the Colossal Titan kicked in the gates of Wall Rose.
"Damn it." He cursed, going to another part of the wall, dropping the cadets off, and flying back to the Colossal Titan with One-for-All, coursing through his entire body. "Detroit…"
As he was about to hit the Titan's head, the Titan looked to him, and then vanished in a plumb of steam, just as he threw the punch.
"Smash." He called out, the wind pressure clearing away the steam instantly. "The hell? It's gone?"
"Hey you…" Eren called out to him. "I don't know who you are, but you saved us, so that at least puts you on the level."
"I'm gonna need to know some similarities to what happened here, and what happened at the other wall." Kaen said. "Long story short, I don't know shit about what's going on here, aside from the fact those Titans eat humans."
"This invasion started just like it did five years ago." Eren stated. "First the Colossal Titan appeared, then there came the Armored Titan. An' if this will be anything like five years ago, the Armored Titan won't be too far behind after a panic starts. The bastard will ram through the destroyed gates of Trost, and destroy the gates to Wall Rose. Causing another genocidal event like back then."
"More civilians are gonna die. We should have been more prepared for when the Colossal Titan appeared next." Connie said. "Everyone's doomed, we're all gonna die."
"That's not gonna happen." Kaen said, stepping up to the ledge of the wall, and looking down as the Titans came flooding in. "You know why?"
The recruits looked to Kaen, confused as to what he was saying, before their eyes widened, as he jumped off the ledge, falling to the ground bellow.
"Is he crazy?" Connie questioned as they ran to the edge to watch Kaen fall.
Down on the surface, a woman cried out in fear as a Titan was reaching out to grab her and her baby, but the Titan was stopped, when Kaen landed on its back, his fist buried in the nape of its neck, and a smile on his face.
"Superhero landing." Eren said in awe.
"Because I am here."
Jumping up from the evaporating body of the Titan, Kaen flew into the air, flipping back as he evaded the hands of two larger Titans trying to grab him, before he was above them, and hit them with Ki blasts, each one aimed to pierce the nape of the neck. Landing back on the ground, Kaen looked to the woman, his proud smile having lessened into a softer one.
"Are you two alright?" Kaen asked, helping the woman up.
"We are, thank you. But the Titans, they…"
"It's fine. You're safe now, because I am here." Kaen said. "Now get going with the other evacuees."
"Right." The woman said, getting up and running for the gate.
"KAEN."
The Saiyan looked up and smiled to see Mina with Eri on her back, having made it to the inner city.
"What's going on? It's complete chaos." Mina said, landing in front of him.
"I'll explain later, but right now, those things are Titans, they eat humans, and they're killed by destroying the nape of the neck." Kaen abridged.
"I'm not all too fond of killing. What do you want me to do?" Mina asked.
"Take Eri, and help with the evacuation into Wall Rose." Kaen stated. "I'll handle fighting the Titans."
"Are you sure you're gonna be okay?"
"I'll be fine. Just make sure Eri is safe."
"Papa." Eri said, catching his attention with a determined look on her face. "I wanna stay and help."
"I know you do Kitten. But there are more ways to help then fighting." Kaen said. "You can help by giving Mama a hand with the evacuation. A true hero, puts the safety of the people before anything else, even if the odds are stacked against them."
"Right Papa." Eri said, obviously wanting to make him proud.
"Hold it."
Kaen, Mina, and Eri looked to who had spoken up, and Kaen saw it was Eren as well as Connie, and a few of the other cadets.
"I'm sorry, but right now we don't have the luxury of letting you all run wild. Orders from our CO have come down, and we're to take you to HQ right away." Eren said.
"You gotta be kidding me. We can't just…"
"Mina it's fine." Kaen said, stopping her from continuing on with her rant. "It's their city, their government. We should follow along, and not give them a reason to hate us."
"Right. I understand honey." Mina sighed.
"Come here Kitten." Kaen said, taking Eri into his arms. "Lead the way sir, we won't put up a resistance."
"I honestly wish that you would." Eren said. "We're treating you like a threat, when we should be treating you like an alley. It's just not right."
"It's fine. Your government has a right to be skeptical of us." Kaen said. "Lead the way."
Heading through the town, Mina noticed something as she walked next to Kaen.
"Hey Kaen, what happened to your shoe?"
Kaen looked down, and his eyes widened, when he saw that his foot had been completely healed. There were no burns, or scarring of any kind to insinuate that his foot had actually been damaged beyond recognition.
"It… melted when I struck the Colossal Titan. That beast lets off incredible amounts of steam." He stated, deciding to keep his sudden healing capabilities to himself.
~Military HQ~
"Out of the frying pan, and right into the fire Cadets. Time to put your training to work." One of the Cadets superior officers declared as multiple cadets were running around. "I have faith that each of you will do your regiments proud."
On the upper floors of the building, Kaen, Mina, and Eri were sitting in the office of one of the top military leaders, after he'd been called down from within Wall Sina.
"Commander Pyxis Sir, I appreciate you not throwing us in the cells." Kaen said.
"It's fine. You've more then proven you're on our side. Though I must admit, you three look quite odd. Pink hair, tails, feline ears." The bald commander said.
"We're… not exactly from around here sir." Kaen said.
"Indeed. Tell me, I was under the assumption that the rest of the world had been overrun by Titans, and those of us within the walls, were all that remain. How did you survive out there?" Pyxis inquired.
"Well… we don't know anything about that, but what we do know is, we're not actually from this world. Or rather, we're not from this reality." Kaen stated.
"I know it seems fart fetched, but hear us out, please." Mina said.
"Very well. I'll hear what you have to say." Pyxis said.
"Thank you sir. You see, I came to this conclusion, based on one simple fact."
"An' that fact is?"
"The difference in our levels of technology." Kaen said, putting his Scouter down on the desk.
"What is this?" Pyxis asked, picking up the device.
"It's a Scouter, sir." Kaen said. "It's what lead us to this wall, and eventually the situation involving the Colossal Titan."
"I understand you had no clue what Titans were, until you spoke with some of our Cadets." Pyxis said, putting the Scouter down. "So I assume that means you don't suffer from Titans overrunning your reality?"
"No sir. In fact in our world, humans evolved to have abilities known as Quirks." Mina said. "Some Quirks allow for changing one's size and appearance, Kaen's had experience dealing with those. He's even had some experience in it himself. But unless they're cannibals, none of the Quirks with size altering capabilities have driven humans to eat one another."
"In fact, in our world, some people use their abilities to obtain the profession, or a Hero." Kaen explained. "Mina and I happen to be two of those said people."
"I see. An' I assume that means you have, what are they called, Hero Costumes?" Pyxis inquired.
"We do. Kaen and I also happen to be very proficient in using our Quirks." Mina said. "I happen to have several Quirks at my disposal."
"An' what of you?" Pyxis asked, looking to Kaen.
"I happen to be… a special case." Kaen said.
"From what I can tell of your daughter, her Quirk must include a feline of some kind. Am I to assume I'm correct?"
"Yes. But originally, Eri's Quirk gave her the power of Rewind. For personal reasons, she decided to exchange it for a combination of my own, as well as a Quirk called, White Wrath. Which in itself is a combination of two Quirks called, White Tiger, which is where her ears and tail come into play, and Wrath. That Quirk allows her strength to increase so long as she's angry." Kaen explained.
"So Quirks are interchangeable?"
"No, not generally. My sister's Quirk is called Xerox, it allows her to copy, take, give, erase, or upgrade any Quirks that she may like. There's also a villain who's Quirk is basically a downgraded version of that, one allowing for him to steal and give Quirks to others, but that's a whole other can of worms we don't really have time for." Kaen said.
"I see. You can explain it all to me in detail after we've settled this matter entirely. For now, I have a proposition for you." Pyxis said. "Young man, I want you and your girlfriend to fight alongside our forces, and in return, I can offer you a life in the lap of luxury."
Kaen and Mina looked to one another, before looking back at Pyxis.
"Unfortunately sir, we've seen how those in power here, treat the people they consider to be, bellow them." Kaen said standing up. "We'll fight to protect the people, there's no doubt about that, as Heroes in Training, it is our duty to protect those who can't protect themselves. But we wanna join one of the regiments and be paid a fair wage for our services."
"What of your daughter?" Pyxis asked.
"I can take care of myself." Eri said proudly.
"But just to be safe, I'll stay behind with her and the city. That way, if we do experience another mishap like this, and Kaen isn't around, I can at least defend the city until he gets back." Mina said.
"If you don't finish them off before I do." Kaen smirked. "But with the regiment I join, I wanna be able to wear my hero costume, and not the uniforms your troops wear."
"Very well, your terms to our agreement are acceptable." Pyxis said. "Which regiment would you like to join?"
"I'd like to join that one." Kaen said, pointing to the emblem in the center of the banister above Pyxis's head.
Pyxis turned around and smiled when he saw the emblem Kaen had pointed.
"Why that one, may I ask?" Pyxis inquired.
"It's the only emblem I haven't seen on any troops yet. So it means they're the ones who travel outside the walls, to fight for your people's rights to be liberated from this stone pen." Kaen said. "I wanna be able to help in anyway I can for that to."
"I don't see why not." Pyxis smiled with a light chuckle. "Now then. Let's get you set with your own Wings of Freedom."
~Later~
"I want everyone split into four squadrants as practiced." The Cadets commanding officer said. "All squadrants are responsible for supply running, message relay, and enemy combat under the command of the Garrison Regiment."
"This is kinda sad to watch." Mina said, standing off to the side looking at the troops, with her and Kaen dressed in their hero costumes.
Kaen's costume was consisting of a black sleeveless Kevlar suit, with slim shoulder pads, and matching combat pants, with a belt holding several pouches on it, with a pair of vambraces on his forearms that covered the backs of his hands, and steel toed combat boots on his feet. (Imagine a sleeveless Captain America Stealth Suit from the 2014 Winter Soldier movie.) One the back of his suit, under his shield, was the newest addition to the Scout Regiments, Wings of Freedom, painted between his shoulder blades, thanks to Mina deciding now was a good time to mess with her camouflage Quirk, which is also why his suit was black, instead of its normal navy blue.
Mina had decided to go a different route. Instead of wearing her school assigned hero costume, she went with something she felt was more her style, and didn't clash with her new light tan skin tone. She wore a tight fitting black and navy blue tankini top with a large portion of cleavage visible and popping, with a pair of navy blue leggings under a pair of black daisy dukes, and the addition of her hero costumes martial arts slippers, to allow for easier movements should she secrete acid from the souls of her feet.
"What do you mean?" Kaen asked.
"I mean, their commanding officer." Mina said. "He looks scared out of his mind. He's obviously never seen real Titan Combat since the invasion five years ago."
"You make a fair point." Kaen said. "But still, it's kinda impressive how well he's taking all this. He's keeping himself composed despite the danger."
"It's a front for the Cadets, but at least it's working." Mina sighed.
"True."
"Question sir." One of the cadets said, raising his hand, before pointing towards Kaen and Mina. "But what exactly are those two doing here?"
"That's enough Kirstein." The CO said. "They are here to help. By order of Commander Pyxis himself."
"I don't like it. I don't trust anyone with inhuman abilities or features."
"An' guess who's never getting laid because his favorite pass time is discrimination?" Kaen rebutted. "Look jackass, you may not like that I'm here, but I don't give a shit. All I care about, is protecting those, who can't protect themselves."
"An' I'm gonna be helping to make sure the people saved, get through the gates safely." Mina stated.
"That's enough chatter. You two deploy now, the others will follow you shortly." The CO stated.
Kaen and Mina saluted, with the salute of their homeland, before taking to the skies, and over the wall. Heading their separate ways for their tasks, Kaen went looking for people in trouble, flying to where the Titans had been reported to be most concentrated as they invaded the city, and using One-for-All, to send the heads of Titans flying, making sure they were torn at the napes of their necks.
Mina on the other hand, was directing people to head through the fastest routes, and with some directions from the MP's, she was well on her way to knowing those routes by memory. Following the last of the evacuees, Mina was shocked when they came across the entrance to the city, being crowded. Jumping into the air, Mina flew over the crowd and landed on a rooftop to see what the problem was, and scowled when she saw the cause of the situation.
There was a horse drawn cart, blocking the entrance to the inner city, and the man who was supposedly in charge of it, was keeping people from entering.
"Get back you peasants. I'm head of trade, I'm more important then any of you, and that means all my merchandise has to go before…" The merchant stopped, when his carriage was pulled back, and lifted into the air, with the leather straps connecting to the horses snapping, allowing the equines to run free.
"Everyone through the gate, NOW." Mina called out, holding the carriage above her head with her all natural inhuman Saiyan strength.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" The merchant questioned. "Put my cart down at once and…"
"I'm the woman who's gonna feed your sorry ass to a God Damn Titan, if you don't wisen up, and stop acting like a spoiled entitled man child." Mina growled, her glare shutting the merchant up as the last of the current evacuees went past her. "Step aside."
Marching towards the gate, Mina pulled her arms back, before she threw the cart through the air, and destroying part of it, as she sent the wooden transportation sliding through the gate into the inner city.
"There, now your merchandise isn't blocking the entrance." Mina glared, walking past the speechless man.
Meanwhile, Kaen was taking a break, breathing heavily as it began to rain. He'd exerted almost all his Ki fighting the Titans. The abnormals were trickier for him to eliminate, as they moved erratically and it was hard to predict their movements without his use of Ki sense. Thankfully, that wasn't the only type of Ki, a living organism had, that he knew how to track.
"I'm not done, or out for the count just yet." Kaen grumbled, as the rain turned into a downpour.
Leaping into the air as he evaded another pair of Titans running after him, Kaen flipped back and slammed his feet into the napes of the closest one, destroying the Titan before he used a Ki blast to hit the other through the neck and piercing the nape.
Flying through the open air, Kaen rose above the reach of he Titans, and began looking around. Since the Ki sensing he was using, only worked for opponents he was within a certain proximity of, he had to rely in his other senses to locate the Titans.
Hearing screaming coming from behind him, Kaen quickly turned around and flew through the air, straight for the source of the disturbance. There, he spotted one of the deployed cadets, his air tanks broken off his gear, as he was held in the Titan's grasp, being brought up to its mouth.
Moving quickly, Kaen planted his feet on the Titan's clenched hand, and his hands on the monsters teeth, pushing back against the force. Looking down at the cadet, Kaen saw that it was the same one from earlier, who'd pissed him off, and discriminated him for his abilities.
"Jean Kirstein, right?" Kaen questioned with a smirk. "Well… don't just sit there like an idiot. Get moving." He stated, pushing the Titan's hand open with his feet, freeing Jean.
Pulling himself out, Jean looked at Kaen, then to his ODM Gear. Jean still had that discriminative and untrusting glare in his eyes.
"What are you waiting around for, a formal invitation? Get moving you dumbass." Kaen stated.
"You know what." Jean said. "This looks like a perfect opportunity…" Kaen wasn't listening, before he felt a heavy impact on the back of his legs, at the crook of his knees. Looking down, Kaen saw Jean pushing himself off the Titan's fist, and had used the Saiyan's legs as a platform to kick off from. "…to get rid of a disgusting, inhuman freak like you." He stated. Kaen's gaze of shock, turned into a glare of pure rage as he fell into the Titan's mouth.
"Jean, you BASTARD…" Kaen managed to shout out, before the Titan's mouth closed on him, severing his legs from the rest of his body, blood spraying everywhere, all the while Jean didn't look too phased as he was splattered with blood as the Titan swallowed Kaen.
"Would you look at that. His blood is red." Jean stated, wiping the blood from his face as the Titan seemed to ignore him now.
In the pit of the Titans stomach, Kaen was using the remainder of his Ki to keep himself from falling into the gastric juices of the stomach, as he pounded away at the enzyme covered walls, trying to break free. However the lack of oxygen, and the accumulating bloodloss from his severed legs, was causing him to lose consciousness faster, and faster, as he eventually did land in the pool of stomach acids.
"This can't be how it ends for me." Kaen growled, golden electricity sparking around his body. "That bastard, if I get out of here, and I will, I am going to find that back stabbing ass hat, and feed him to a Titan myself. This is not where I'm gonna die, this is not the end of my story." He stated, as images of Eri and Mina flooded his brain, before his mind wandered to how his funeral might play out, and then to what Jean might do to them, if he got the chance to kill them, like he was murdering him. "I need to keep my family safe. I can't die here, I won't. I WILL SURVIVE!" He shouted at the top of his lungs.
His cry of rage echoed through the thick flesh of the Titan, ringing through the air as it turned from a battle cry, to the roar of a raging beast.
~Mina~
"Kaen." Mina gasped, the sound of that roar, reaching her ears.
"Everything okay Mina?"
Beside Mina, was a fairly tall and well-toned woman, with pale skin, gray eyes, and shabby black hair that reached down the back of her neck, and noticeably longer bangs. She wore the Survey Corps uniform, with her equipment horizontal to her hips, and a white blouse underneath and a maroon red scarf around her neck. The two of them met after Mina dealt with that greedy and self serving merchant, with the graduate cadet impressed with what she did, and even going as far as saying, if Mina hadn't stepped in, she'd have done something a bit more drastic.
"I just thought I heard Kaen's cry of rage." Mina said.
"He's important to you, isn't he?" Mikasa questioned.
"He is. But I know he can handle himself." Mina said. "He is a Saiyan Warrior after all. But I know you're just as worried about Eren as I am about Kaen."
"I promised his mom I'd protect him, after what happened when the first breach happened. She was trapped under so much rubble and debri from both the wall and collapsed house, she only got free when a Titan grabbed her, and ate her as Eren and I were being evacuated by someone who was a family friend." Mikasa explained, killing a Titan as she continued her talk with Mina, as the Saiyan girl flew beside her.
"Is it kinda weird we're holding a normal conversation, while killing Titans?" Mina questioned, hitting a Titan's nape with an acid infused Ki attack.
"I don't believe so." Mikasa stated, as they landed on a roof with one of Mikasa's higher ups waiting for them, after seeing what they accomplished.
"Good work Ackerman, I'm impressed." The CO said. "As for you, you've done well handling that merchant. You'd make a fine addition to the military."
"Thank you sir. But I'm sure Commander Pyxis has made you aware of my standing on the matter." Mina said.
"Of course. After this, you and your daughter will live normal lives, while your boyfriend serves in the Scout Regimen." The CO stated. "Now get back to it you two."
"Right." Mina and Mikasa said.
Taking to the skies once more, Mina with her flying technique, and Mikasa with her ODM Gear, the two continued on, slaying Titan after Titan, and leaving their corpses to evaporate into steam.
"Mina, here's a lesson I learned when I was just a child, and I lost my parents to human traffickers." Mikasa said. "The world's a cruel place, if you want to live, you have to fight."
"I kinda got that feeling, when I learned about the man eating monsters you're hiding from." Mina sighed as the gates to Wall Rose began to descend, and the withdraw signal was sounded.
"That's it, we're done. Both of you, scale the wall." The CO said.
"We should help the Vanguard sir." Mikasa said, before taking off.
"Same." Mina added. "I'm not gonna rest until I know I've helped all I can."
"Hold it you two, wait." The CO called out to them as they fled.
"You just wanted to go find Eren, didn't you?" Mina asked.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Mikasa said, pulling her scarf over her nose.
"Right." Mina said, as they landed on a tower a bit of ways away from the gate. "Strange. No one's retreating. Didn't they hear the withdraw signal?"
"Look over there." Mikasa said.
Mina looked over to where Mikasa was looking, and saw the supply depot where the other soldiers had come from, covered in Titans, trying to get at the soldiers remaining inside.
"That's not good." Mina said.
~Connie & Jean~
"Hey Jean, what are we gonna do?" Connie questioned.
"We're not gonna do anything." Jean said as he and Connie were sitting on rooftops. "They finally give us the order to withdraw, and we're all out of gas, of course. I can't believe this is how it's gonna end, because of those damned cowards."
"Wait, where's Kaen. That Saiyan is strong, he could fly us over the wall with his powers." Connie said.
"Don't count on it. Last I saw he hightailed it and ran away the first chance he got when he saw the actual threat the Titans pose." Jean stated.
"That's not true. I saw him go after the Colossal Titan, all on his own." Connie said. "Kaen, is anything but a coward. He's gotta be one of the bravest people I know. But we're currently stuck here because of the supply depot, seriously what is going on, where are they?"
"They all lost their will to fight, and I can understand why." Jean said. "But they abandoned their duty to supply us, barricading themselves inside HQ. An' of course Titans have swarmed the place, which means we can't get the gas ourselves."
"Then why are we waiting? We gotta go, start thinning their numbers so we have a chance. Sitting on this roof is totally pointless, eventually the Titans are gonna come for us. We don't have much gas left, we'll just waste what little we have if we try to run, and without our mobility, we're completely screwed."
"You're using your head for once Connie, nice going." Jean stated, rubbing his face. "But I'm just not sure if we got the numbers, to pull this thing off. The veterans in the vanguard force have all been killed. Now, how exactly do a bunch of rookies pull of a suicide mission like this?"
"We survive by having Kaen join the fight. I know he's not so cowardly that he ran, he fought and defended innocent people against the Titans." Connie said. "So if you know where he is, then you have to tell me."
"He's not coming Connie. That monkey isn't coming to help, he's long gone." Jean stated.
"An' how would you know that?" Connie questioned. "An' why do you keep rubbing your face?"
"Because I saw him get eaten by a Titan, that's why." Jean stated. "He was eaten, and his legs are all that remain. I keep wiping my face, because the blood splatter got on me from how close I was to the scene. Over by the west side of the city, you will find his severed legs just sitting on a roof, bleeding out the last of the blood they held."
"Kirstein."
Jean's eyes widened when he heard that familiar voice, and turned around to see Mikasa, and Mina standing there, with the pink haired Saiyan looking completely mortified.
"No." Mina said, in complete denial falling to her knees. "No, it's can't be true. He can't be gone."
"Mina." Mikasa said, kneeling down to steady her, while Connie came to her side.
"No, he can't be gone. He just can't. Kaen was stronger then that, he couldn't have been taken down by Titans so easily." Mina cried.
"I'm sorry, but he was." Jean said. "I know, because he died saving my life."
Mina looked up at Jean, and instead of seeing warm sympathetic eyes, she saw the cold heartless eyes of a killer with no remorse. She could tell he was partially telling the truth, but there was something he was hiding from them.
"KAEN." Mina cried out, her voice echoing around the rooftops.
