Bruce couldn't sleep his fear for the city and its people was rising with every hour. He made White Shadow to take a break but he knew she wouldn't sleep ether.
Two hours after Batman told James Gordon about fountains he started to receive horrifying data from Gotham City Police. First five fountains they checked were spreading chemicals and bombs identical to the first one was found underneath each of them.
"He is going to do something to the city on his birthday… Ha-ha and I have no idea what it is! Was it his plan to blowup fountains or he planned anything else and fountains would be just a distraction?" - Bruce was deep in his thoughts when he got a news that some of the fountains which were checked by GCPD didn't have bombs but still were used as a chemical pump.
"What if he figures out that we taking his fountains down and it stimulates him to go rogue. I would say we should evacuate the city but the governor never agrees on that! Especially now when the tunnel under the river closed down due to air pollution. Oh! The tunnel!" - he immediately called commissioner Gordon from his Bat resource phone.
-Gordon. - commissioner picked up this line as fast as he could.
-The tunnel. Send people to check the tunnel.
-Got it.
They had a way of communication Gordon and Batman but nobody even Alfred knew about this phone line. This line was untraceable and never existed to begin with but it was there to serve the purpose.
He stood up and got ready to be Batman again. Alfred walked in to Bruce's office and announced that White Shadow would like to talk with Batman. She had a phone in her room where she staid while training at Batman's facility. There was only one option to leave a message so she did. That was exactly what he was about to do… he had a question for her. Could Evan possibly blow up the tunnel?
They met in the laboratory again Batman and White Shadow. They knew and felt each of them had no sleep even for twenty minutes.
-I think he is about to blow the tunnel up. - said Batman walking straight to a desk with computers. - I alarmed Police Department they are on it. - he was looking through the data.
-I think he is about to … blow up… - she couldn't speak.
-They checked seventeen fountains by now and found ten bombs but all of them got chemicals pump.
-… I think he is about to blow up….
-There is six police cars right now on the way to the tunnel.
-Batman! I think he will blow up bridges! - finally White Shadow found her voice.
He looked at her and only then noticed that she was slightly pale.
-What are you saying? What bridge exactly?
-All of them.
-All of them? Are you insane? Why would you think that? - Batman walked up so close to White Shadow that she had to back up to the wall.
-You see, Evan he has outstanding memory. - she started but Batman already knew what she was about to say and it was something he completely forgot and didn't pay much attention to. Evan's letters from the orphanage White Shadow translated them for Batman and he spent days reading.
-Remember. Once me and him were talking about perfect Gotham and he wrote that idea. - her lips were moving fast her eyes were covered with a cape.
-Idea of a lockdown. Locking people on the island make them learn new ways and if somebody would reopen the island people wouldn't like to live old ways. They would accept only new Evan's ways and they all willingly stay on the island and protect him as they would protect relics or a prophet. - Batman continued her thoughts out loud.
-Yes. I don't think we have much time left. If you want it or no I am going on the only bridge connecting Zones and Main Land. - she said leaving.
-Stay in touch. I will check bridges going to the state land. - Batman watched her go. She would take a small Bat mobile which he showed here earlier. She would leave the way nobody left before but Batman. - I hope you are wrong. - said Batman calling commissioner Gordon to convince him to close bridges.
