Chapter 4

In the minister office later that day Skulduggery and Harry are waiting for Kingsley to finish the order keeping fletcher away from Valkyrie . When Harry asked his friend how he came to adopt her.

"For you to understand why I adopted Valkyrie I need to recount the other half of a story you know only all too well" Skullduggery explained

" About 2 months after Voldermort killed your parents and failed to kill you, we were rounding up the remaining death eaters . When Mad-eye got a report that my dear friend Gordon and his family were being tortured for information on Voldermort ware about's.

But When we we got to Gordon's mansion both her parents and uncle were dead and the Dark mark was over the place fortunately Val was hidden away, and I took her in and adopted her as Dumbledore believed Voldermort would one day return".

" Why would Valkyrie's parents and Uncle know ware Voldermort was" Harry asked

"You see on the night your parents died it wasn't just Hagrid that came to Godric's Hollow once Dumbledore had received word that lily and James was in danger he sent myself, Valkyrie parents and uncle to extract you all but unfortunately we were to late.

So with in 2 months we had lost you parents and Valkyrie family Dumbledore blamed himself.

" Why didn't Hagrid tell me you were there when he recounted the story in the Leakey cauldron all those years ago"

" Dumbledore order him not to and only tell you the basics fancy trying to explain that a 400+ year old skeleton exists let alone alive. You had just found out that wizards exit, that your one and your parents were too after spending 11 years believing your parents died in a crash.

"But more importantly back in 1981 Myself, Valkyrie's parents and uncle formed a unique part of the order we were more black ops we could be in and out with out people seeing. And you know the rest of that part of the story".

Valkyrie doesn't know any of this and she's not to find out either not now with all thats going on one day I will tell her but its not the right time"

"Good News fellas, the order has been granted and all that left to do is for myself and Mr potter to sign it, Then the three of us need to pay Mr and Mrs Renn a visit" Kingsley said.

The Next Day

" Mum,Dad!" Fletcher yells as he walks though the door in to the lounge, "I have something to tell you and its rather important"

Upon entering, the colour in Fletcher's face drained as Skulduggery, Harry and the Minister are there talking to his parents and handing them the restraining order preventing him from going anywhere near Valkyrie.

" Before I tell you those two need to get out", he points at Harry and Skulduggery "I don't want you near me, not after what you did in the Three Broom Sticks, I needed fucking stitches in my cheek, you think you and punch me in the face then show up at my fucking house".

" Well you kind of deserved that," Harry says "So I take it you still haven't told your mother and father the type of person you really are as they seemed kind of shocked when I gave them that order".

"WELL WHAT IS IT THEN, IS THIS ORDER WRONG?!" his father shouts

"My guests are not going anywhere" his mother says. "They came to see me and your father and no matter what you say Harry will always be welcome". "If it wasn't for him we all could be dead or worse Voldermort could still be at large" says his mum

" Well a few days ago I received a letter from Valkyrie and her friend Ginny asking me to meet them in the three broom sticks as she had something she wanted to tell me. So Myself, Skulduggery and Harry met the girls, and we got some drinks and then Valkyrie tells me she's pregnant".

" So we are going to be Grandparents then?" asks his mum

" That doesn't explain why the Ministry have issued the first ever restraining order for the magical world now does is so what are you not telling us boy"? his father asks angrily.

"I told her to get rid of the baby and that I wasn't ready to be a dad, thats when Skulduggery decided to call me a bastard and punch me in the face. I then teleported out of there for my own safety".

" TELL ME THE FUCKING TRUTH FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE FLETCHER, I KNOW YOU ARE FUCKING LYING, I'V SEEN THE MEMORIES FROM ALL THAT WERE PRESENT THAT DAY, SO YOU HAVE ONE MORE CHANCE TO TELL ME THE TRUTH!" Yells his dad.

" That is the truth, I'm telling you the truth, Why would I lie?."

" You believe me don't you mum"

"Mum please say you believe me over val's and her friends lies".

" I want to believe you I really do, BUT I think we need to see what your memories say before I make my mind up" Replied his Mother.

"I'm not going to giving you my memories, I shouldn't need to prove i'm telling the truth, i'm your son, you should believe me no matter what."

"Thing is I don't believe you, either you give me that memory or I will have the minister forceable remove it. Your lucky they haven't arrested you after what we've seen, so if your innocent then you have nothing to worry about" his father screamed at him.

" Ok I give up" said Fletcher unwillingly handing over the memory to his father in defeat.

Mr and Mrs Renn step up to the pensive to view Fletcher's memory.

After a few minutes his mother and father come out of the pensive with a look of utter shame on their faces.

" You little Fucker, we raised you better than that, How dare you threaten to kill the mother of our unborn grandchild, all because you don't want to be a dad!" yelled his father.

" Mum please say something, are you going to allow Dad to speak to me like that. I'm your only son, please defend me, it's lies, they must of changed the memory to show what they wanted you to see."

" Stop lying to us, you gave that memory to you father and we went straight in, its from your prospective and it matches what Harry and Skullduggery showed us, so stop lying"

" FLETCHER YOU NEED TO LEAVE AND NEVER SHOW YOUR FACE IN THIS HOUSE AGAIN, AS OF THIS MOMENT YOU NO LONGER LIVE HERE. I SWAER I WILL DO EVEYTHING IN MY POWER TO PROTECT VAL AND OUR GRANDCHILD FROM YOU. YOU ARE NO LONGER A MEMBER OF THIS FAMILY, GET OUT.!" yelled his Father .

After his parents had finished what they were saying. Fletcher lunged at his mother knocking her to the ground then turns to his father and tries punching him in the face.

" Some parents you are, you would rather believe a jumped up little whore than your own son. I should of fucking killed her that day in the pub, then none of this would be happening. Mark my words, no order will stop me from dealing with this problem, then we can get back to being a real family"shouted Fletcher.

" Listen here you little wankstain, you go anywhere near my daughter and I will hunt you down myself, I will tear you from limb to limb, then I will hand what ever is left to your father so he can finish the job" Skulduggery angrily retorted.

At this Fletcher listens to what his father had told him to do and leaves slamming the front door behind him while shouting "YOU WILL ALL PAY FOR THIS, MARK MY WORDS YOU'LL REGET THIS DAY".

" Skulduggery I am ever so sorry for what he's done, I hope you and Valkyrie can forgive us, we will do everything in our power to help support Valkyrie no matter what she decides. Please pass that on, we understand that she may not want our support but please let her know we are there for her whether she needs it or not" Mrs Renn says.

"My dear I will pass this message on but its down to Valkyrie . For now I think we need to put up some protective charms to keep you both safe, he was rather angry and I do believe he will follow though on his threats and thats he last thing any of us need .

If Valkyrie agrees and accepts your help then I will let you now.

Later that day after Skulduggery returned to Hogwarts, he entered the hospital wing and notices that Ginny was with Valkyrie and tells them, "the order has been granted, and Fletcher's parents are offering their support to Valkyrie. They understand that you may not want their help, but they are siding with you. They have thrown him out and disowned him. He has issued more death threats, so Kingsley is making arrangements with Professor McGonagall for you to have a protection detail stationed within the school". He turns to Valkyrie and says "I have had to rescind your permission to visit Hogsmeade, its for your own safety".

After Skullduggery had finished explaining all this to the girls, Professor McGonagall entered the hospital wing andexplains to both of them, "Due to the situation, we have had to rescind your permission to go in to the village on weekends as its no longer safe for the two of you. So please stay safe and no sneaking out of the school. Miss Weasley, I would encourage you to give Mr Potter his invisibility cloak back until this Is all sorted".

" But Professor I don't understand, why has my Hogsmeade visits been rescinded?, He didn't threaten me, so I should be safe" Ginny stated .

" Due to how close you and Miss Cain are, your mother and father have agreed that it is in your best interest to remain within the castle grounds . That way he can't use you to blackmail Miss Cain in to doing what he wants" McGonagall explains.
