A/N By now anyone who has read one of my stories knows how I feel about somethings. I believe the Fluke made no sense and that either Willow got started mind raping a couple of years earlier than we see on the show or Jasmine's manipulation of Cordelia's life extends back to senior year. Either way, the Fluke destroyed what was a great relationship. Just as Willow's mind raping and misuse of Magic destroyed her great relationship with Tara. I wasn't sure how to fit the Wish into the au I've created, but using the Wish itself, I have a way and I can use it to try to fix things in another au.
This chapter starts in the Protectors au during the Jhe apocalypse which will be occurring at the same time as the Wish in the second au. If a character has a W after their name, it's the Wish au. A P will follow the characters from the Protectors.
Abigail Morris, Medicine Woman of the Chumash Tribe, seer and grandmother of Xander Harris, the Alpha of the Sunnydale Protectors Pack, had been having a good day. She'd seen several patients, had a nice chat with her long time friend, Shawn Michaels, chief of the Chumash Tribe, a man who was like a brother to her, the way Willow, Xander and Jesse were to each other, when she suddenly had a vision. One that had her stiffening and swearing as she raced to her car, knowing she'd be too late to stop it and knowing, maybe, that she could fix something that was broken.
"Have I mentioned that I hate zombies?" Jesse McNally-P screamed, on the verge of hysteria, as let's face it, twice within a matter of months was two too many times to have to deal with something that scares you, especially when you haven't been able to figure out how to overcome that fear.
"I'm going to enjoy cutting you up, McNally." The recently discovered leader of the voodooed back from the dead zombies, Jack O'Toole said, tossing his really big knife from hand to hand. He held up the knife, "Meet Katie, she likes cutting things up."
"You named your knife?!" Faith-P asked, incredulously, "Wow, you're one of those kinds of psychos."
"Jesse-P, just fry him. We've got an apocalypse to deal with." Cordelia-P reminded him.
"Oh, yah, I can do that now." Relieved to have a way to deal with the zombie, Jesse readied a fireball and threw it at the Jack zombie. Unlike vampires who turn into dust when their unlife ends, however, zombies burn. Burning flesh smells. Bad. Especially to people with enhanced senses.
"Ew," said Xander-P. "Why don't we just cut their heads off, that worked with the the last batch of zombies." He, Cordelia and Faith, with her gorgeous matching long knives that the Tribe had given her (I am not a psycho, I don't name my knives), proceeded to do just that. And hey, it worked.
Having dealt with the zombie problem, they moved on to the bigger problem. Stopping the Jhe Sisterhood from opening the Hellmouth. They needed Jesse there so he could help Giles close it if the Jhe succeeded in getting it open.
They arrived just as the Jhe's did indeed get it open. Xander, Cordelia and Faith moved to attack the Jhe's, while Jesse and Giles began the chant that would, hopefully close it, again. Something went wrong though, very wrong. There was a flash of light and then Cordelia disappeared. Only to reappear a moment later, dressed in a different outfit, looking confused.
"Don't you just wish sometimes..." Anya, undercover vengeance demon, hinted to unknowing client Cordelia Chase.
"What I wish, is to be somewhere, where it never happened, never could happen, that Xander would ever cheat on me." Cordelia-W said, looking her companion, who's face suddenly morphed until it looked like the muscles were sort of exposed. Cordelia had just a moment to register the fact that she was looking at a demon, when it said in a weird gravely voice, "Wish granted." And then she was gone and another Cordelia stood there. She saw the demon face and reacted, bringing up her double bladed staff weapon, she quickly cut off it's head.
Cordelia-P looked around, confused. It was daytime and students were actively ignoring the fact that she had just decapitated a demon. Something was wrong here. She retracted the blades on her staff and hooked it to the loop on her belt. She was still wearing her heavy armor, but the battle she had been fighting in was no where to be seen. She had to find Xander, she suddenly felt afraid, where was Xander. She headed into the school, searching for him. There he was. She was so relieved to see him, she didn't hesitate. She raced towards him and grabbed him and drew him close, drew in his scent...she froze. That wasn't Xander's scent. Xander's scent was mixed with her own, plus the wolf. This Xander wasn't a Protector. This wasn't her Xander. She eased back from the startled young man. "Xander," she said in small voice. "Something weird is going on."
"Yah, I'll say, considering you broke up with me over that thing with Willow at the factory and have done everything that you can verbally to destroy me ever since. Not that I blame you, I still have no idea why I kissed her." Xander-W answered.
"You kissed Willow. Ok, not the big problem, right now. I was just battling a Jhe demon, when there was a flash of light and then I was in the courtyard. There was a totally different demon standing in front of me and I decapitated it and came looking for my Xander. You're not my Xander. Obviously, I'm not where I belong. I need to find Giles, maybe he can help figure this out or Grandma can."
"Grandma? Grandma who?" Xander-P asked.
"Your grandmother, Abigail."
"My grandmother died when I was five, Cordy, you know that."
"She didn't die where I'm from. Somethings changed and I need to figure out what it is and fix it."
"Okay, let's go to the library and see Giles. Maybe he figure out what's going on."
The two headed for the library, where Cordelia -P got her next shock. Buffy. Alive. This wasn't good.
