Chapter 40: Bainne

A/N: Hey guys. I can't believe that we're finally here. We are on Chapter 40 of this story. The only other story that I've written that has even been close to this was a Gilmore Girls story that I wrote with a beta. I never thought that when I started this story 2.5 years ago that so many people would like it as much as they do. And one thing that I have come to realize in the last couple of days is that Crossovers are not easy to write. Now granted this isn't the first crossover that I've done but it is by far the longest so far. Anyway, here's the next chapter. Enjoy! Happy reading!

Jax POV

I had been talking to Trinity, clearing the air from last night when my phone started ringing. I pulled it out of my pocket, checking the caller ID. Stahl. "I need to take this." I said and she nodded. I walked outside and away from everyone before I answered. "The priest used us to prove Jimmy ordered that explosion." I began to tell her. "IRA put out the kill order. Jimmy's a marked man."

"Then unmark him, all right? I need him back here alive." Stahl said.

"Yeah, first thing I got to do is find my kid." I said.

"I understand, all right? But if you want Gemma off the hook for the homicide and reduced time for the club, then you need to make Jimmy a priority. Do you understand what I'm saying?" She said.

"I'm handling it." I said, ending the call.

Tara POV

Salazar had gone to meet the club to get the money that he'd demanded. His girlfriend was somewhere in the house. And I was trying to come up with a plan to get us out of here. Margaret was in the corner crying. "We're going to be okay." I told her.

"Thinking about Dave and the kids. They must be out of their minds with worry." She said.

"Well, the police will know we're missing by now. They're gonna be looking for us." I told her. I was hoping that I was right. I knew that Tig wouldn't go to the cops, except for maybe Unser but maybe someone had found the car. Reported us not being at work. Maybe Dave had reported Margaret missing. I could only hope.

"You seem to be handling this well." Margaret said as she continued to cry.

"We should try and get some sleep." I said.

Jax POV

We were sitting in the SAMBEL clubhouse keeping an eye on the time when Maureen came in. "I've got something you boys might want to see. McGee always emptied his pockets on my dresser. He left this." She said handing a piece of paper to Clay. "It's an address. Might be one of Jimmy's places, or maybe Donny's. I don't know, but it might help you find him." She said.

"Thanks." Clay told her. "I'm sorry about your old man."

She nodded. "I know." She said.

Clay handed her McGee's First Nine patch. "You should have this." He told her.

Maureen nodded. "Thank you." She said, before walking out.

I looked at the time, rubbing a hand over my face. "All right. The nuns'll be there soon." I stood up from my spot on the couch. "I'm gonna grab one of the Irish, have him navigate." I told everyone.

Ma stood up. "I'm going with you." She said.

I looked at Clay and he shrugged. "Mom…" I trailed off. I had no idea what I was about to walk into.

"I'm going with you!" She yelled at me.

"Mom, can you just…?" I tried to reason.

"You're gonna need the truck to get the baby home." Bobby said.

I looked to Clay for advice. "Let her go." He said. He turned to Ma. "Please don't kill anybody." He told her. She glared at him.

"Let's go. We'll go run down this address." Ope said. He was just as anxious to get Abel and get home as I was.

"You take Bobby." I told Clay. "Me and Ope can handle the nuns." I said.

He nodded. "You just get our boy. We'll worry about the Irish." He said.

Jimmy POV

Donny sighed. "That's about an hour's drive." He said.

"We've anyone left we can trust down in Newry?" I asked him.

"Probably. We just don't have enough time to find out who they are." Donny said. I nodded. "You reach out to the Russians?"

"Aye. I talked to Putlova. They're offering me safe haven for a price. So when we get back to Cali we'll grab the girl and head north." I told him.

"Good. We better go." Donny said.

"Yeah." I told him.

We both turned to Sean. "What about him?" Donny asked.

"Sean?" I said poking him a little. "Wake up lad. Wake up!" I said.

He looked up at me. "I see you." Sean mumbled.

I lifted my gun up and quickly shot him in the head. "Oh, great. Who do you think has to clean that up?" Donny asked.

"You?" I said.

Jax POV

Mom, Ope and I, along with one of the Irish guys had tracked down the address that Kellan had given me for the nuns. I was anxious…which didn't happen very often. I had no idea what we were about to walk into and I had to admit, part of me was scared. I saw a nun sitting at a desk when we first walked in. "Sister?" I said quietly.

She looked up at me. "Father Ashby said you'd be coming by." She said.

"Where's my son?" I asked. I was trying to remain calm. This was not a time to get upset.

"Please, come in and have a seat." She told us.

"Where's Abel?" Mom asked.

"He was given to a family two days ago." The nun said.

"What family? Where is he now?" I asked.

"Look, I don't have that information." She said.

"Then who does?" I asked. She was really trying my patience.

"An independent mediator protects everyone's anonymity." She told me.

"Tell me where my son is!" I yelled. I was done being patient.

"I'm sorry." The nun said.

"If they took Abel two days ago, Kellan knew he was gone." Ope pointed out.

"That son of a bitch. I'm gonna kill him." I told Ope.

"Wait a sec, guys." Gemma said stopping us as we were about to walk out the door.

"Mom?" I questioned. She had a tendency to go off the rails.

"Hold on. Just need a second." Ma said. The everything went crazy. Ma pulled a gun out. She pointed it around. "Back up! Over there! You. Bring me that baby. The kid!"

One of the nuns handed her a baby. "What are you doing?" One of the nuns asked her. The baby started crying.

"Mom!" I tried to get her attention.

"You know the story of King Solomon, right, Sister?" Mom asked her.

"Yes." She said.

"If I was that mother, I'd rather have a half dead kid than watch someone else raise my flesh and blood. You understand where I'm going with this? And you've got to have done some research on those scab parents. So we both know that this…'anonymous' thing is bullshit. Now, you are gonna tell us where our grandson is, or I swear to God, I will cut this baby in half." Ma said. Had to admit. She was a force to be reckoned with.

"Get the file." The head nun said. A couple seconds later she was handed a file. She opened it. "Katey and Mark Petrie. We do a four-day transition period. Parents stay local to make sure it's a good fit." She told us.

Thank you Mom. "Where is he now?" I asked.

"The Europa Hotel." She told me.

"Not a word to the priest or the Petries, or we tell the cops about this little baby factory you've got going, you understand?" Ope told all of them.

"Don't hurt them." The nun begged.

"I just want my son back." I said.

Stahl POV

Agent Tyler and I walked into the Charming PD and we headed straight for Unser's office. He was sitting at his desk, deep in thought. "What do you need?" He asked me when we walked in.

"St. Thomas Hospital reported that its chief administrator Margaret Murphy and Dr. Tara Knowles are missing. County Sheriff's on the case." I told him.

"Missing? I didn't know. What has this got to do with the ATF?" Unser asked me.

"We're back on the real IRA-NorCal gun connection. I know that the Sons are in Belfast, and I'm beginning to worry that they may have pissed off the wrong Irishmen." I told him.

"You think the IRA took Tara?" He asked.

"Well, I don't know, but my bosses thought that it would be a good idea to talk to the club members that are still here, and I figured you'd be the best way into that." I said.

"Not so sure about that." He said and I gave him a pleading look. "All right, uh, give me a minute to finish up." I nodded.

Tyler followed me out of the station. "What the hell is this? The Sons are in Belfast? I thought we were here to follow up on Gemma. What's going on, June? I know you've been talking to Jax Teller." She said.

"I'm going to tell you something that comes down from two levels above me, so you have to keep it to yourself." I said.

"Of course." She said.

"I made a deal with Jax Teller to deliver Jimmy O'Phelan. Gets his club reduced time on the federal gun charges." I told her.

"What about Gemma's statement?" She asked.

"She fled. You think that anything she says is going to hold weight, huh? Come on, baby. This is huge, okay? It's good for both of us. You rise right along with me. Don't worry." I told her.

Jax POV

I'd found the Petrie's at the hotel and had followed them to this nearby marketplace. I watched them with Abel. He looked so happy. Maybe Kellan was right. Maybe I should let Abel go. I watched them for a little bit longer before I decided to head back to SAMBEL.

When I got back, I was told that Ma was over at the Ashby's store. So I walked over there. When I walked in, everyone stared at me. "What happened? Where's the baby? Where's Abel?" Ma asked me.

"I need to talk to you alone." I said.

"Upstairs." Maureen offered.

Ma and I both walked upstairs and sat down at Maureen's kitchen table. "What's going on? You're scaring me, Jackson." Ma said.

"I found Abel." I told her.

"He's there? Well, we got to go get him." Ma said.

"I let him go, Mom." I said.

"What?! What are you talking about?"

"Dad's manuscript. It wasn't about changing the club. It was about changing his legacy. I don't belong here, Mom. And neither does Abel." I told her.

"Where is my grandson?" She asked me.

"He's with a father…who didn't torture and murder a man yesterday." I said.

"I don't care. If you've killed a hundred men…he is your son!" She said.

"He's gone." I whispered. I looked down at the table.

"And what are you gonna tell your other son…when he asks what happened to his big brother?!" She said causing me to look up at her. "Tara's pregnant."

"How do you know that?" I asked.

"I knew it before she even told me…she's two months along." She told me.

Maureen knocked on the door. "Sorry." She said walking in, followed by Kellan.

"What happened? What is it?" Ma asked.

"Clay called, said Fiona and Kerrianne were in danger. Told us to meet here. What happened, son?" Kellan asked him.

"You're the one who's twisted him up. What the hell did you say to him." Ma said.

Once we talked to Clay and the others we found out that Jimmy wasn't after Fiona and Kerrianne but in fact Abel. We quickly raced to the bikes and they followed me back over to the Petrie's hotel. I quickly found out which room they were in and cautiously approached.

I'd killed for the club before, but nothing had prepared me for what I'd walked into. Jimmy had killed the Petrie's just because he wanted to use Abel as leverage to get out of the country. "Oh shit." Gemma said when we all walked into the hotel room. "Where is he? Abel?" Everyone started looking.

"Nothing." Bobby said.

"We got to get out of here. Now." Clay said.

"I did this." I said.

"Come on brother." Ope said trying to get me to leave.

"You should all go." I told them. I just needed a minute.

Gemma walked over to me. "Come on." She said gently touching my arm. I nodded.

A little while later, Clay and I were sitting at a table surrounded by Kellan. "Jimmy has you're your son. He's reached out for counsel. Wants safe passage to the States in exchange for the boy. I've advised they'd make the deal." Kellan said.

"So what happens now?" Clay asked.

"The counsel considers it, probably wants to meet with you. Till then, we wait." Kellan said.

"None of this shit would have happened if you told us where he was when we first got here." Clay said to Kellan.

"I'm trying to help this family." Kellan said.

"Help us? Are you serious?" Clay asked.

"Hey…Hey…" I said, trying to calm Clay down.

"Are you serious?" Clay asked questioning me.

"It's not his fault. It's my mistake. I'm done listening to dead men. But don't pretend you were trying to help us. Greater good or not, we were just a means to your own end. You don't give a shit about this family. And the John Teller you knew 20 years ago, he didn't give a shit either." I told Kellan.

Tara POV

I'd convinced Salazar's girlfriend to let me go to the bathroom. I knew that I wasn't going to have long so I needed to form a plan, quickly. I quickly found a small towel and quietly broke a small corner of the bathroom mirror. I decided that I would hide in the shower until she came back into the bathroom, then I would take her out.

I could hear her right outside the door. Her phone had just rang and I assumed that she was talking to Salazar. A few seconds later, she kicked the bathroom door in. When she walked in, I jumped at her from behind the shower curtain slitting her throat with the broken piece of mirror that I had. I managed to briefly fight with her before I pushed her into the bathtub. I quickly took her gun.

I made my way back to the attic to get Margaret. "Did you call 911?" Margaret asked me as we walked out of the attic.

"No. There's no phone." I told her.

We started to make our way down the stairs when the front door open. Salazar walked in and we both pointed our guns at the other. "Drop the gun." He said.

"No. You drop it." I said.

"Luisa! Luisa!" He hollered.

"She's bleeding out in the bathroom." I told her.

The three of us made our way up the stairs towards the bathroom. Salazar walked in first. "Oh shit." He says when he sees his girlfriend laying in the bathtub bleeding all other the place.

"You need me to keep her alive." I told him.

I could her the girl begging for someone to help her. "You do something." He said.

"Only if you let her go." I said.

"Tara…" Margaret tried to interrupt.

"Let her leave and I'll save Luisa." I told him.

"Okay, all right. Okay…first…first we get Luisa in the car. We'll get her out of here. Then she can go." Salazar said.

He leaned over into the bathtub and picked Luisa up. I turned to Margaret. "If he reneges, shoot him." I told her. She nodded.

"Come on help me!" Salazar yelled.

Jax POV

Clay and I were sitting around a table with Kellan and the counsel. "We'll allow Jimmy a safe passage out of Ireland to secure the safety of your son. You and Kellan will make the exchange at the docks. There's a boat waiting for Jimmy, to take him to an airfield in County Down." Dooley said.

"Jimmy's no idiot. How does he know after he hands over our kid you ain't gonna gun him down?" Clay asked.

"There are assurances in place." Kellan said.

"We'll need something in return." Brogan said.

"What?" I asked.

"We know Jimmy's reached out to the Russians in Northern California." Brogan said.

"The ones we've been ruling your guns to?" Clay asked.

"Aye. There will be a short window of time when Jimmy will be there. You need to kill him before he exiles someplace where we can't find him." Brogan said.

"Comes with rewards. We're willing to significantly expand your gun business. Jimmy lost sight of our goals, but we need the income he generated. We are hoping the Sons might be willing to trade on that need." Roarke said.

"And what's that end up looking like?" Clay asked.

"Access to our full arsenal. AR15s, MP5s, RPGs, everything." Roarke said.

"Plus Jimmy's rolodex. All his contacts in the western U.S. Means pulling up more charters, creating more alliances, organizing. You think the reaper is up to that challenge?" Dooley said.

"Yeah." Clay said. "I think we can help you out."

Later that night, Kellan and I were waiting at the docks for Jimmy. "He's a sweet lad." Jimmy said, approaching us. "I wanted the good priest to return him right away. He's the one that kept him from his da, forced the situation."

"Let's go father." Donny said.

Kellan took a couple steps forward. "Wait a minute. Where are you going?" I asked.

"Making the exchange. The only way I get out of here alive is with a hostage." Jimmy said. He handed me Abel and I held him close.

"You agreed to this? He's gonna kill you." I told Kellan.

"Be well, my son." Kellan said.

Tig POV

I was really starting to get pissed off. We hadn't had any luck being able to rescue Tara. Even with the ATF's help, Salazar had gotten way. Then there was Bella. We had no leads. No ransom calls. I was losing my mind. Jax and Opie were both gonna be pissed. I just hoped that they'd found Abel and that he was all right. "What's going on? What the hell happened?" I asked when Kozik and I pulled up to the address that Unser had given me when he called.

"Tara got a shot at the girlfriend, cut her pretty bad. She made a deal with Salazar that she'd keep the girl alive if he cut Margaret loose." Unser told us.

"He's still got Tara?" Kozik asked.

"I'm afraid so." Unser said.

"He had them at his aunt's house. Foreclosure. We went through it top to bottom…it's empty. Still have an APB out on the car. I'm sorry." Stahl said.

Jax POV

We were standing around outside getting ready to load up when one of the prepays started ringing. "If that's Oswald's guy, tell him we'll be in Manchester by dawn." Clay said and Bobby nodded.

Bobby stepped away from the group to answer the phone. A couple minutes later he approached me and Ope. "Yeah…it's not Oswald's guy. You and Ope are gonna wanna take this. It's Tig." Bobby said.

I handed Abel to Ma, grabbing the phone from Bobby. Ope and I walked away from the group and I put it on speaker. "What?" I asked.

"Guys…we have two problems. I tried to handle them the best I could but I am only one person." Tig said.

Ope and I shared a look. "What's going on?" Ope asked.

"Salazar kidnapped Tara and…Bells is missing. We think the redhead grabbed her." Tig told us.

"Which means that Jimmy is headed right for her." I said. Ope nodded.

"We gotta get home." Ope said. I nodded.
