The next morning, Tim, Elle and Tom took Hoobie to a spot just outside of town. When they stop they all got out. "Why are we here" hoobie asked.
"This is your new home"
"no" he said
"come on take a look in side" elle said as Tim unlock the door and open it then stood back
Hoobie walk in side and look around the one bedroom house. When he walked in the door he saw lounge, dining and kitchen in one then he walked down the hallway and stops at a door, he opens it to see it was a bathroom and wash house with a shower, sink, washing machine and toilet. Then he walk down to another door where he open it and walk in to see it was a bedroom. There was a double size matters on a man mad base and headboard. There built in closet and drawers and bedside draws. He looks around the room then back into the bathroom then back into the living, dining, kitchen area.
"I don't know what to say"
"You like it" elle asked
"what about water, power, heating"
"you got a small fire place here, it would take ten minutes to warm the whole house up." tim said.
"Ok"
"come out side" they walk outside
"Here a shed for where the wood go into and look on the roof" tim said. Hoobie look on the roof
"what that"
"solo panels, that is where your power is coming from and the one in the middle, one with the water tank"
"Yeah"
"that your hot water"
"Really and where the water coming from" They follow tim to the back of the house where a water tank is
"Your water go into here, it from the river, here let me show you" they follow Tim to where solo panel it and a pump. Tim turn the pump on
"Listen to the tank" they all waited then they could hear water go into the tank. "See that ball on top ot the tank" Tim said point to the ball
"when that go up to a white mark on the rod then you know you got to stop cause the tank will be full"
"Ok" tim show him where the clothes line is everything.
"So do you like it"
"Yes i do"
"so you move in here" Elle asked
"yes i will, i need to get my things"
"I'll take him" tom said
"thanks tom" tim said. Elle and Tim return home since Maggie looking after the kids for an hour.
After the new year when the triplets return back to school and the twins in daycare. Tim and Elle return back to work. Two weeks later when the phone rings "Hello mount thomas police… hi Bret, no he not in at the moment can pass a message on to him… yes… that's wonderful news, i'll tell him first… ok thanks for calling give our best to Anna… will do" then she hung up while smiling.
"Well are you going to tell us" Dash asked
"nope" elle said as she return back to work.
When Tom return he was in a bad mood. "Elle take all my calls i don't want to be disturb" he walked into his office and close the door behind him.
Elle stood up and walk to the door and knock onto it then open it and walk in and close the door behind her. She sat down and waited. Tom look at her. "You want to know why i'm in a fowl mood"
"that your choice to tell me or not"
"We got a new inspector, Russell Falcon Price, he coming here tomorrow for an inspection"
"rusty coming here, this is going to be interesting"
"you know him"
"Yeah last year when I went to have words with Micky doyle about his sister's wedding. He showed up here while you all dealing with that armed hold up"
"Why didn't you tell me"
"cause it got nothing to do with police matters boss or otherwise i would have. We talk about why i was down at the st david station having a go at one of his men. I explain to him what happened and made him think and have him in PJ shoes. I won't say what he told me but he under stood and knows that Robbie murder case is close."
"That good to know"
"We talk and he said i've done a great job here but not happy that i'm not getting paid for it. Don't worry i set him straight"
"so he knows"
"and understand as for tomorrow, worry about that then. Right now you got other things to worry about"
"Like what" he said looking worried
"Taking few days off and soon"
"Why what for" she stood up and walked to the door then stop and turn to Tom and smile
"so you can go and meet your grandson, granddad" she said grinning
"Grandson"
"Yep Bret call half an hour ago, seven pound eleven ounce baby boy"
"where is she, is Anna ok"
"both mother and son doing well"
"that great, does the others know"
"they trying to get it out of me. But i smile at them. It driving them nuts"
"Dash wouldn't like that" He said smiling
"no she almost climbing the walls in spubspence" tom laugh
"I bet she is, thanks for telling me"
"No problems…. Grandpa" she turned and walked to the door and open it and walk out closing it behind her.
"Well what is wrong with the boss" Adam asked
"He will tell you all in his own time" she walked over to her desk and made a call while everyone else talk while getting back to work.
Tom sat there in shock he still couldn't believe it that he a grandfather when the phone rings "Hello sergeant Tom Crordon…. Anna" he said in shocked "how are you…. Yes Elle told me, are you ok" Tom talk to Anna for a few minutes then he called susan and gave her the news.
That night at the pub every one showed up since it a friday night. Everyone enjoying themselves when Chris walk out carrying a large cake and put it in front of Tom. when everyone else saw it
"congratulations grandpa Tom Coydon" Adam said when he read out what was written on the cake
"It's a boy" Maggie said
"How do you know that" nick asked
"Cause it in blue icing means that Anna had a boy, am i right boss"
"Yes Anna gave birth to a boy"
"congratulations boss" PJ said then others did as well.
"Chris how did you find out" Maggie asked
"I told her cause of the cake"
"you made it" Dash asked
"nope, Jenny did and after work i came here to ice it so care to cut the cake boss"
"Why not" Tom cut the cake and everyone including the kids got a piece of it. Everyone enjoy their cake while giving Tom a hard time and Chris brought out two bottles of champagne and glasses for them all to celebrate.
The next morning Elle saw who walk into the station so she walked over to the counter "Inspector Falcon Price, it's good to see you again"
"Elle how are you"
"I'm good thanks, I know why your here, tom told me and the others don't know"
"where is everyone"
"Dealing with burglary and assault of eldery widow man who lives in the house"
"Why did everyone go including the sargent"
"You would to sir if you were in his shoes. The older man is koren war vet"
"so the sargent knows him, get him back here"
"Hold your horses inspector you didn't let me finish. As i was say he a war vet and retired senior sergeant, he was a sargent here in mount thomas when Tom was a young constable and watch house keeper with Neil. Tom been keeping in contact with him since he retired from the force and is R.S.L long serving member. Some mongrel broke into his house beat him up and stole stuff including his war and police metals"
"What was the senior sergeant name"
"Micheal Nelson" She saw the look on his face
"you knew him"
"Yeah I remember him i had no idea. What is his address, i'm going to make this top priority"
"You don't have to worry about that, the boss would make sure of it and knowing PJ he already got foreist going over everything and Nick and dash would chatting to known second hand dealers and Adam would be staying at the scene and boss would be at the hospital waiting for details and he would call me any time soon to ask me to call Mr Nelson family. I know the drill and it is not the first time this has happen" then the phone rings
"that would be him now" she walked over and pick up the phone
"mount thomas police… yes boss, i knew you were going to ask me that… yes i already got the information in front of me, how is he… yeah… dam mongrels, did he say how many there where…. Two… yeah i'll get on to it, is there any one else you want me to call… sure ok i'll do that…. Nothing yet…. Ok" then she hung up and turn to the inspector
"Mr Nelson regain consciousness, he told the boss that there were two teenagers boys that broke into his house"
"right I'll head out to the house" elle wrote down the address and walk over to the counter and pass it to him.
"Let PJ do his job, try not to interfere. He hates it if someone try to take over. Trust me i've seen it before"
"I'll think about it" then he walk out the door. Elle went and made the phone calls.
When PJ and Maggie return to the station they were talking about the case. "Everything ok"
"it a nightmare, this case is, we came from the hospital Mr Nelson still in surgery"
"any leads"
"We waiting on finger prints"
"Ok what about damage"
"Broken door, it looks like it was booted open"
"any other damage"
"broken chair" Maggie said
"It looks like the weapon that was used to knock Mr Nelson out"
"Mongrels" elle said
"you got that right, how did you go with the phone calls"
"Mr Nelson son and daughter in law will be here in three hours from Melbourne, they are shocked with what happened to his own father"
"It would be for any family" Maggie said.
"I contacted James Carson the R.S.L president, he would be at the hospital with Tom by now"
"ok, that great"
"any photos of the medals"
"Yeah, here they are" PJ show Elle the two photos.
"Want me to get some copies"
"Sure"
"ok i'll head down to the photographer shop in st davids and get copies of them, will you two be ok"
"sure"
"thanks" elle left and went to St Davids, where the guy who does all the police photos look at them
"When would you like copies of these, i am busy"
"List Ted, I want them done an hour ago, some mongrels broke into this retired cop house beat him up and stole from him, these metals are stollen"
"bloody hell sure, i'll get on to it, i thought it was personal"
"no mate, this job take top priority especially when it a retired copper and a war vet involve"
"ok would you like for me to enlarge it for the metals"
"that would be great"
"Ok give me an hour"
"sure, i'll be back then" then she walked out of the shop went went to a cafe where she got herself a coffee and a bun to eat.
