Going through all the struggles Eddie was facing with the ups and downs of being dialysis, she was learning to enjoy the little things life was giving her and Jamie. He came back to the couch with a large bowl of popcorn to share with Eddie. Eddie snatched a handful and stuffed it in her mouth.

" 'amie… is not bubber…"

Jamie looked at her and took a few pieces of popcorn and popped them into his mouth, chewing and then swallowing them.

"There's no salt or butter on these. Their plain. You're not supposed to have either one babe. Salt will cause a lot of fluid retention, and butter will just make your cholesterol go up even more. Did you take your Dilantin babe?"

Eddie looked Jamie in the eye and started to nod. Pausing the movie they were watching, Jamie grabbed for Eddie's wrist and took her pulse.

"No. I don't like the taste."

Jamie's eyes softened and he kissed her forehead.

"I know you don't babe. But it's very important that you take it. I don't want you to have another seizure."

Eddie relented and sat back against the couch.

"I can't lie to you Jamie. I just can't stand the disgusting orange flavor."

Jamie came back with a glass of water and Eddie's medicine.

"Here. The trick is this: put some water in your mouth then put the pill in. Tilt your head back a little and it should go right down. Don't let it sit in your mouth too long, it'll melt. That's why you taste it."

Eddie reluctantly swallowed the pill and put her glass of water on the table. Jamie sat back down on the couch and pulled her into his arms. She curled up with her head on top of Jamie's chest, her eyes getting heavy as she tried to keep watching the movie. Jamie kissed her forehead and then her left shoulder. He ran a hand through her soft blond locks of hair. He never wanted to be apart from her. He listened to her even breathing as she slept. It made him upset that Eddie was going through all this. He wished he could just take all of it away. But he knew it didn't work that way. They had both saved each other multiple times. He just wanted to make her feel better. It's why he and Eddie were doing their best to enjoy the little things life was giving them. Eddie managed to stretch without straining her abdominal muscles. Opening her eyes, she gave Jamie a mischievous smile.

"Wow, what a great nap."

Eddie kept the mischievous smile on her face and pulled Jamie towards her, whispering in his ear.

"The doctor said we could do other things…"

This gave Jamie pause before he answered. Forming his words carefully, he gave his answer.

"Ok, but that means…"

Eddie was giving him a face he couldn't resist.

"I miss the connection you and I have…"

Jamie understood, but he didn't want to risk it, no matter how much Eddie begged.

"I understand babe. I really do. But I told you before, being that intimate would be painful, I don't want to hurt you. It wouldn't do either of us any good."

Having turned off the tv and the lights in the living room, the couple made it to their bed and climbed in. Pulling Eddie into his arms, Jamie ran a hand along the back of her neck. His hand moving from her neck down to her shoulder, fingers gently grazing her side. He brushed a light kiss against her neck and then wrapped his arms around her waist, careful of tubing hanging down off the side of the bed. Eddie sighed in her sleep. He let the noise of the machine clicking lull him into a semi-peaceful sleep. When he woke, light was just starting to filter through the window. He found his own warm breath coming back towards him. He felt a kiss to the side of his head. Then Eddie's voice.

"Here babe. Let me take that mask off. I didn't want to wake you, but I needed to get off my machine. I made breakfast."

Jamie wiped the sleep from his eyes and slowly sat up.

"What'd you make for breakfast?"

Eddie smirked and crawled onto the bed. She pulled her to him and started trailing kisses down his chest.

"I want to make sure you get what you want…"

Sighing, Jamie pulled her up and into a kiss. Pulling apart, they took a moment to get a breath.

"That's tempting babe, but how is that fair for you?"

Eddie tossed him a smirk as she got up from the bed.

"Well, making out isn't off the table Reagan."

Shaking his head, Jamie got up from the bed and put some sweatpants on over his boxers. Going to the dining room table, he found a couple of plates with a stack of blueberry pancakes.

"These are fantastic babe. What is with you today? You're like the energizer bunny."

Eddie shrugged her shoulders and dug into her pancakes. Jamie put a hand on her wrist as she went to put another bite in her mouth.

"Did you put sugar free syrup on it?"

Eddie nodded her head yes.

"Yes, and to answer your question these are wheat pancakes. Their ok, but I'd prefer buttermilk pancakes. I knew you'd appreciate pancakes if they were healthier… As for me being the energizer bunny this morning, I had a great night's sleep. That machine does wonders. It's noisy, but I can semi-ignore it. It's the first day I've felt like me in a while. We should take a walk in Central Park."

Jamie finished the last bite of his pancakes and spoke.

"Are you sure your up for that sweetheart? I mean, the swelling in your legs and feet…"

Eddie smiled and showed Jamie her left leg. Kneeling down in front of Eddie he placed his index finger and thumb around her ankle.

"Ok, no pitting edema. Let's go get dressed then."

Eddie cleared the table and washed the two dirty dishes, placing them in the dish drainer. An hour later, the couple was enjoying the blooming cherry blossoms in the early Spring weather. Eddie was taking a moment to soak in the sun.

"That sun feels heavenly. It's been a while since we've done this. Can we just do this every day? Everything is coming back from hiding all winter long. I feel like I could do anything."

Jamie smirked and wrapped an arm around Eddie's shoulders, pulling her towards him. Laying her head on his shoulder, Eddie took a deep breath and let it out. She wrinkled her nose and looked up at Jamie.

"I thought Cherry blossoms were supposed to smell good? All I smell is dead fish. Ugh that smells."

Jamie smelled the air and shrugged his shoulders.

"Smells like week old broccoli to me. See? The smells already gone."

Eddie nodded and kept walking.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Thanks for this babe. On our days off, let's do this. Take a walk through Central Park. Does wonders for our relationship."

Jamie smirked and looked at her.

"You have no idea…"

Jamie pulled her in for a kiss and everything around them seemed to disappear.
