Two hours later, Nunnally still couldn't believe what had happened. Even so, she realized it had to be true. She tried not to be disturbed by the thought and continued studying independently until lunch.

Around twelve, her cell phone rang. It was Lelouch calling her.

"I'll come home for lunch," Lelouch's voice came from the phone. "Please tell Sayoko to prepare the meal for me as well, will you?"

"I will," replied Nunnally, closing the call.

Sayoko prepared the lunch and brought Nunnally to the dining room. By the time they arrived, Lelouch was already sitting at the table. He was calm and smiling. Sayoko pushed Nunnally's wheelchair next to the table and left.

"Lelouch!" Nunnally exclaimed after Sayoko closed the door behind her. "You're telling me that you accidentally got caught in a conflict between the Britannian police and the Eleven terrorists and then received a mind control weapon which both sides were very interested in, all this just by pure accident? Are you aware that the situation is cumbersome?"

"Very aware," Lelouch replied soberly. "But I am pretty sure that right now, nobody knows I have that power."

At that very moment, Sayoko burst back into the room.

"Master!" the maid shouted. "They've just reported on the TV that our governor, Prince Clovis, has been murdered."

"I see," replied Lelouch, undisturbed, "Thank you, Sayoko."

Sayoko left, and Nunnally couldn't believe her own ears. Clovis, the governor of Area Eleven, their half-brother, was dead. How did that happen?

"Our brother Clovis… did he…" mumbled Nunnally, unable to find her words.

"I'm afraid so. It happened in Shinjuku," admitted Lelouch.

"But… who could have murdered him?" exclaimed Nunnally, still in shock.

"I don't know if I should tell you," replied her brother softly.

"You… you said you joined the fight," she followed. 'What happened there exactly?"

Lelouch dropped his sight upon the supper in front of him. Nunnally could hear him taking a deep breath as he paused momentarily before answering.

"You see," Lelouch started, "they wanted this weapon so much that they started to destroy the whole Ghetto to find the terrorists. They murdered civilians without the slightest guild. So at that moment, I decided to give a hand to the Elevens. I used my power to get hold of a Knightmare frame and helped the Eleven resistance get some Knightmare frames. As the resistance and the Britannian soldiers were fighting, I seized the chance to infiltrate the command center, where Clovis and his generals were. And then I did what I had to do, so I stopped the war."

"But... but... you mean you killed Britannians?" Nunnally asked, forcing herself not to burst into tears.

"I merely punished those who oppressed the weak," her brother declared. "It was the only right thing to do."

"And Clovis?" mumbled Nunnally.

Lelouch hesitated, whether to answer or not.

"Lelouch, are you in connection with his murder?"

"It is I who killed him," Lelouch admitted.

Nunnally remained silent while Lelouch clenched his teeth. He knew he had just placed himself in a terrible light and feared Nunnally would hate him now. On the one hand, the young man regretted his weakness of having told his sister everything. But on the other hand, he knew he did it for her. The destruction of Britannia was their most important goal and the right thing to do.

"Lister, dear sister," Lelouch continued. "I cannot stand any longer watching innocent people die. You told me just yesterday that you wish the world would be peaceful. I wish the same thing, you know that well. But a peaceful world cannot be achieved without getting rid of those who are evil. Clovis was one of those people who did not care about others dying or suffering. He only cared about his own interests. I regret having no choice but to do such a thing to a brother; indeed, I do. But we need justice. And there was no other choice but to stop the bloodshed…"

"But to kill your own brother?!" Nunnally burst almost violently. "Our brother?! Clovis?!"

"Don't shout like that, Nunnally. What if someone hears us?'

He was right. The girl lowered her tone.

"Sorry, you're right," she whispered. "But still... Lelouch... why?"

"Why? Were you expecting me to just use my power to flee and leave every single Eleven from Shinjuku to be killed? Wouldn't this have been a crime as well?"

"I... I don't know," Nunnally mumbled. "I think not, but…"

"I'm done with my meal," said Lelouch rising from his chair. "I'm sorry, but I must go now; I have classes. Talk to you later."

"But... but… ok... see you later, Lelouch."

Lelouch left the room nervous. He knew he had done wrong by telling his sister the truth, but there would have been no better way to discover how she perceived this act. The young man knew he had done the right thing in Shinjuku. He knew that he could eventually achieve Nunnally's dream of a kind and gentle world by continuing to do so. There was no other way. But if Nunnally disapproves of it, then everything might be in vain. What should he do now? Unfortunately, continuing to walk the path of blood was the only choice.

Nunnally heard him close the door as he left for school. She remained silently, not knowing what to think, not knowing what to believe. Did her big brother really do that? Why? Many questions kept rising inside her head. But she could find no answer.

And then her phone rang.

"Yes?" replied Nunnally

"Hey, Nunna. It's Rivalz. I wanted to ask you to join us at the welcome party for Kallen."

"Who?" Nunnally asked.

"We're going to have a new member in the student council," replied Rivalz. "Her name is Kallen, and we're going to hold a little party for her at your place. We're coming to your place in an hour."
