Let the guessing and reading begin! And Merry Christmas is July! LOL!
Chapter Twenty-Nine: Surprising Proposals and A Magical Christmas
The day came when Frances would be leaving to celebrate Christmas with her siblings. Everyone from the Phantomhive household was outside, dressed in warm clothes as it was lightly snowing. Sebastian was placing her luggage on the carriage while Ciel was already inside the compartment. Frances hugged Mey-rin first.
"Merry Christmas, Mey-rin. I love you. Take care of the Young Master." She said as she hugged her.
Mey-rin squeezed her tightly.
"I will, Frances, yes. I love you, too Merry Christmas!"
They released one another, sharing bright smiles. She turned her gaze to Finny who giggled. He eagerly hugged her.
"Merry Christmas, Frances! Have fun on your trip!" He exclaimed.
"Merry Christmas to you too, Finny! Thank you. I love you." She said.
"Love ya too!" He smiled brightly.
She turned to Baldroy. Before she could open her arms, he wrapped her in a hug. She was surprised by the hug and worry in his spirit.
"Baldroy?" She asked, worriedly.
"I know you're only going to be gone for two weeks and you can take care of yourself, but please be careful and return home to us."
Frances smiled at his words. She wrapped her arms around him tightly, returning the hug.
"I will always return home to all of you." As she spoke, she sent him calmness. She pulled away, but didn't let go of his upper arms, "Merry Christmas, Baldroy."
"Merry Christmas, Frances."
She shared another smile with him. She turned to Tanaka who was in his full size today. He smiled warmly at her. He bowed to her.
"Take good care, Mistress. Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas, Tanaka. May I?" She asked, holding her arms out.
He smiled.
"It is highly improper to hug my Mistress. My friend however…"
He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. She hugged him back with a wide smile.
"I love you, Tanaka, my friend."
They pulled away, though their hands still held the other's upper shoulders.
"I love you, sweet Frances. Take care, my dear."
"You as well, Tanaka."
She pulled away from him and moved towards the carriage. Sebastian helped her inside to which she thanked him for before climbing in himself. She moved to the window and waved goodbye to her friends. Her friends waved back, wishing her safe travels. She continued waving until they were out of sight. Once they were, she settled back into her seat. She intertwined her fingers with Sebastian as she leaned her head against his shoulder, looking up at him with happiness and love in her brown eyes. Sebastian warbled mentally causing her smile to grow bigger. Ciel's cheeks bloomed pink at the display. He averted his eyes to the window. Frances and Sebastian's eyes glinted in amusement at the boy's embarrassment.
*He's getting better.*
Sebastian couldn't contain the chuckle that escaped his throat. Ciel twitched, but didn't react further than that.
The ride to the docks was filled with quiet. When they got to the docks, it was a bit busier than usual. Many people either coming or going for the holiday season. Sebastian opened the carriage door, excusing himself. He closed the door giving his Master and mate some privacy. Frances looked at Ciel with a smile.
"Merry Christmas, Ciel."
"Merry Christmas, Frances."
He handed her a box that was wrapped in red roses wrapping paper, a bright red bow on top. Her eyes widened in surprise.
"Ciel." She said, surprised.
Last year, he had waited to give her a Christmas present when she returned from visiting her siblings. He suddenly hugged her, surprising her a bit more.
"Have a safe trip. And… have fun with your family."
She returned the hug.
"Thank you, Ciel. You as well. Lizzie will enjoy the time spent with you."
He began to blush. She could feel his embarrassment.
"Thank you." He muttered.
They released one another. She sent him another smile. She reached to open the door, however, before she could put her hand on it, it opened, revealing Sebastian.
"My Mistress." He said, holding out his hand.
"Thank you." She said, accepting it.
He helped her down. She saw a young man take her suitcase. Sebastian took the present, turning to the man.
"This as well, please." He said, gaining the man's attention.
"Yes, sir."
He took it and began walking away. She smiled. She turned her gaze to Sebastian. Suddenly, his hands were on her waist and they moved as Sebastian used his demon speed. When he stopped, she realized they were in an alleyway. She felt his hands begin to burn as they roamed her body where Ciel touched. She moaned softly as she raised her arms to wrap around the demon's neck, pressing her body closer. Her eyes fluttered open as his burning hands made their way to her back. An amused smile upon her lips.
"Such an unnecessary jealous demon." She whispered.
A smirk curled upon said demon's lips.
"You love it." He purred.
Her smile softened to a loving smile.
"I love you." She corrected.
His gaze softened, a tender smile upon his lips. He lifted his left hand and placed it lovingly upon her cheek, caressing it. She leaned into his touch, eyes fluttering close. She slowly opened them, looking lovingly at Malphas.
"I love you, my Frances."
He leaned down as she leaned up. Their lips connected in a long, loving kiss, stroking the flames that danced within them. They parted after a few minutes with her gasping for breath. Malphas' eyes closed, relishing in the sound. He leaned his forehead against hers as she caught her breath.
"Merry Christmas." He whispered, holding a small black box with a small red rose on top.
She looked at it with surprise. She took it with a smile.
"Thank you."
She opened it, feeling the intent for her to open it coming from him. Her eyes widened when she saw it was a two rose diamond ring. One was black, the other red upon a silver ring with two green vines and sharp thorns wrapping around the silver of the ring leading to the entwined roses. She looked up at Malphas with shocked eyes. Malphas lifted her left hand into his right hand, taking the box with the ring into it.
"Malphas…" She whispered.
He lifted her hand to his lips and placed a kiss upon it. He lowered it slightly and looked at her from his lashes.
"You have become mine in more ways than one. However, all except one were from my beings' ways. I have never ever even given thought to being married, let alone learn to love. A demon such as myself bowing my head to God, it was laughable, however, I want to tie myself to you and be connected to you in every way possible, including the human way."
She gasped surprised. She knew how he felt about God, so she understood exactly what she meant to him.
"Malphas." She whispered in shock, tears filling her eyes.
His thumb trailed over her fingers.
"You are still human, Frances (He gracefully went to one knee.). Will you marry me?" He asked, holding out the box with the ring in his right hand and still holding her hand in his left.
She nodded as the tears began to fall.
"Yes." She whispered, "Yes!"
She shook slightly as love and excitement filled her soul. She watched as Malphas smiled widely, standing and returning to his full height. He took the ring out of its box and slowly slid it upon her finger. She looked at it for just a moment before flinging her arms around her demon. Malphas smiled widely as his arms wrapped around her waist. Their lips instantly connected with their song echoing loudly through their souls as loud as when they marked one another. The flames danced wildly with one another, circling and centering around their hearts and the ring upon her finger.
*Malphas.*
*Frances.*
They sighed lovingly at the same time.
After a few minutes, they pulled away with her gasping for breath. Her hands slid to cup his face as his slid to the sides of her waist.
"Last call for New York!" A voice called out, gaining their attention.
Their gazes returned to one another.
"You have to go." He said gently, a sad frown upon his face. It morphed to a seductive smirk, "Remember what happens should anything untoward occur."
A matching smirk appeared upon her lips. Her hands trailed to his cheeks, her nose nudged against his nose, looking seductively at him through her lashes.
"Yes, Master." She whispered.
Malphas' eyes flashed fuchsia as he warbled quietly. His hands moved quickly. He took the ring off her finger and placed it on the silver chain that he tucked into the box. He put the black box that held the ring into his pocket. He then clasped the necklace around her neck, the ring rested right above her breasts.
"Mine." He growled.
Her hand went to his heart upon her mark. His eyes closed as his warble/purr grew louder.
"Yes. I am yours as you are mine." She agreed with a wide loving smile upon her lips.
His hands moved to her waist. They moved again to the plank that led to the ship. He bowed at the waist.
"Have a safe trip, my Lady."
"Thank you, Sebastian."
He stood with a smile. She made her way up the plank. Once on the ship, she moved to the side, excusing herself to cut through the crowd. She instantly found the demon's eyes. He was standing next to Ciel's carriage. He sent her a smile and a small bow.
*I love you, Malphas. I'll be home soon.*
*I love you, my Frances. I'll be waiting, impatiently.*
She smiled widely in amusement. The ship took off. She didn't break eye contact with her demon until the ship sailed further away that she could no longer see him. Her body predictably tingled when he was no longer in sight.
A red book slammed shut. A green with gold border forming a sort of "D" with a circle with the letter F.M. close to the binding in black letters face up towards someone who's eyes were hidden and their lips set in a straight line.
"Well," They said in a crackly voice, "that was unexpected."
They turned from the book and began making their way towards a basement. The candles burned low showcasing the many coffins. They slowly walked towards one in particular.
"A demon marrying a hybrid… Who would have thought? Though… being her, I understand the desire. Still, who would have thought? (They stopped beside a mahogany coffin.) Isn't that right, my lord?"
His yellowish-green eyes peeked out from his long silvery-grey bangs.
Frances arrived at her siblings' place after three days of travel by sea then by train. She knocked on the door of the apartment. The door opened showing…
"Marcelo!"
"Frances!"
They hugged one another tightly. They parted after a few seconds.
"Come in." He said, moving aside so she could enter.
"Thank you." She said, entering the apartment.
She smiled as she saw they put up the decorations Sebastian gave them last year. Marcelo closed and locked the door. She turned to him.
"You didn't have work today?" Frances asked, setting her luggage beside the mattress on the floor.
He shook his head.
"I did, however, Bridgett was called in, so I sent word that I would not be able to make it."
Frances nodded. She had felt Bridgett's reluctance then acceptance. Their hearts still beating calmly with hers, only one was beating at a slower pace than the others. She smiled widely.
"Well, I'm glad to see you are doing well." She said, taking the presents from her luggage and placing them under the tree with the others.
Once she was done, she turned to see Marcelo sitting on the couch, a game in his hands. His eyes met hers. He smiled. He shook the box.
"Do you want to play, Frances?" He asked her.
She smiled. She made her way to the couch.
"Yes, please."
His smile widened.
"All right."
He began to set up the game.
They played until it was time to make dinner. Frances sensed the both of them along with the excitement in their souls as she cooked the chicken. Frances and Marcelo turned when they heard the door unlock. They both wiped their hands on the towels before stepping towards the living room to greet them. They watched as they put their coats on the coat rack. They looked up and the three sisters shared smiles.
"Hello, Bridgett, Irene!" Frances greeted.
"Hello, Frances!"
They met in the middle and did a group hug. Frances felt Marcelo join in as well and smiled wider. A small giggle escaped her lips.
"I love you." She said giddily and happily.
Not only was she excited and happy to be with them, but she couldn't wait to tell them her news about her and Sebastian. It was difficult enough not to burst it out to Marcelo as it was. She stilled as her body tingled as Malphas wrapped his arm around her. They pulled away with smiles upon their faces.
"We love you too, Frances." The three of them said at the same time.
Frances recovered.
"Dinner is just about ready." Marcelo told them.
"Oh, good! I'm starving!" Bridgett said.
"You're always starving." Marcelo and Irene stated at the same time.
Bridgett stuck her tongue out at them. They all giggled. Bridgett and Irene went to their bedroom to change. Frances and Marcelo returned to the kitchen to continue making the meal. As they did so, Frances spoke with Malphas. This was sudden and unexpected that she had no idea if she would be able to invite her siblings. She wanted them there. No. She needed them there. His mark began to tingle as did the skin where the ring nestled.
*Malphas.* She called.
*Yes, my precious mate, your siblings will be joining us.* He answered with fondness.
*But, where could we hold the ceremony? People from here as well as England would know us as being in separate classes. Not only that, my siblings-*
*Do you trust me?* He asked her.
She jolted slightly at the interruption.
*…Yes, I do.* She sent him.
She felt his warmth on her cheek as if he was caressing it. She leaned into it, a happy contented sigh escaped her lips as she slowly closed then reopen her eyes. She felt a kiss against her forehead.
*We will be having the wedding on your Isle. You can use your powers to erase the priest's mind once he finishes joining us together so he doesn't recognize your siblings and joining us. After all, none of those who have come in contact with you in… unfavorable circumstances have been able to remember you.*
She could feel his smirk and pride. She smiled.
*Will Nina make my dress?* She asked.
The demon scowled then sighed.
*If you wish her to, however, you know what a gossip she is.*
*Not unless we lie and say it's for a case.* She countered.
The smirk came back upon his face.
*True.*
*When will we have the ceremony?* She asked.
*January seventeenth. I shall see to everything, including our family's transportation.*
She purred happily, her heart fluttering as the flames danced within her.
*I love you, Malphas.* She sent.
*I love you, my Frances.*
She smiled. She focused on continuing to make dinner. She hummed her and Sebastian's song. Marcelo smiled. When she finished, Bridgett and Irene entered the dining room.
"I've missed your singing." Marcelo sighed.
Frances smiled. Soon dinner is ready. She and Marcelo served dinner. As they ate, they caught up telling her about adventures they've done such as exploring the woods, going to some museums and such. Frances in turn told them about her adventures with the company and helping Ciel and talking about the fun things she'd done with her friends. She even told them about Alois though she left out how she felt about the boy knowing it would upset them. As she was nearly finished telling her adventures, they were finished eating, Irene was about to clear the plates when Frances stopped her.
"Irene, will you leave those for a moment, please? (Irene and her other two siblings looked at her in confusion, Irene sat back down nonetheless.) Thank you. There is something else. I have some exciting news to share with you. (She pulled out the necklace with the beautiful ring. She looked back up at her siblings with a wide happy smile that made her cheeks ache slightly.) Sebastian and I are getting married."
Their eyes widened.
"What?!" The three of them exclaimed.
She laughed. She reached up and unclasped the necklace. She carefully slid the ring off and placed it upon her ring finger.
"Yes." She said, fondly, "Sebastian and I are getting married."
She placed the chain into her pocket. Her siblings stood up and raced to her, hugging her tightly, talking all at once.
"Oh my goodness! Congratulations!"
"Frances, that's amazing!"
"Congratulations, Frances!"
"When is the wedding?"
"Are we invited?!"
Everyone became silent at Marcelo's question. Frances smiled even wider and nodded.
"Yes! You are all invited!"
Their eyes widened. They hugged her tightly, tears rolling down their faces including Frances'.
"Yay! Finally!" Marcelo exclaimed.
Frances' smile dropped into a sad frown. She pulled away slightly. They looked at her.
"I don't invite you to Ciel's home because I wish to continue protecting you."
Bridgett took her hand with the ring. She squeezed it gently.
"We know that. We are just excited to see you marry the one you love." She said.
Irene and Marcelo nodded in agreement. Frances' smile returned. She held out her other hand towards Irene and Marcelo. They understood and took her hand. She squeezed theirs and Bridgett's hand gently,
"I'm excited you'll be there as well. I know it isn't easy to be apart. I miss you three all the time, however you are my strength, my love, my family, the reason that I live. I appreciate you three for allowing me to be away to continue my growth. I love you so much."
"We love you too, Frances." The three of them said at the same time.
They shared in another group hug.
After a few minutes of comfortable familial loving silence, Bridgett broke it by saying,
"Show us the ring."
Frances laughed. The other two shared the sentiment as they pulled away from one another. She held out her hand with the ring. They gasped.
"It's beautiful." Irene complimented.
"Wait a minute, this matches your necklace he gave you for Christmas!" Bridgett noted.
"It does." Frances confirmed.
"He knows you well." Bridgett said, smiling.
Frances' gaze softened. She placed her hand over her heart, over his mark, feeling his love. She looked at the ring.
"Yes, he does. (She looked back at them.) He's going to arrange everything. The wedding is going to be at my Isle."
They all gasped.
"That's exciting!" Marcelo exclaimed.
"That's going to be absolutely beautiful. It's the perfect spot for the two of you!" Bridgett complimented.
Irene gasped again. They looked at her.
"This means we'll get to see the cottage Sebastian had built for us!" She said, excitement evident in her voice.
Frances' smile widened at the same time as Bridgett and Marcelo said,
"That's right!"
They continued to talk excitedly about the wedding, seeing her Isle, and the cottage until it was time for bed. They wished one another goodnight. Frances laid down on the mattress in the living room wearing a dark purple nightgown. She covered her body with the blankets, placing her left hand upon her heart, upon his mark, her other hand rest over her left, clutching the ring.
*Good night, Malphas.*
Frances: *I love~~~~~~~~ you.*
She whispered sang as she sent it to him with a wide loving smile upon her face.
*Good night, my precious mate.*
Malphas: *I love~~~~~~~ you.*
He sent her lovingly. Her smile widened further. She closed her eyes, succumbing to sleep.
The next few days were spent with her siblings. She had one on one time with each of them going shopping or simply looking around or walking through the snow covered park. They talked about one another's lives and though Frances didn't want all the attention to be about their wedding, their conversations would eventually gush over that.
By the time they knew it, Christmas Eve was upon them. They were watching the snow fall as they ate the freshly made chocolate chip cookies with hot chocolate to drink. Frances was reading them 'A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens.
"'…And so, as Tiny Tim observed, God bless us, everyone." The end." Frances said.
She gently closed the book, carefully placing it upon the table so as to not disturb her siblings who had fallen asleep. She wasn't careful enough however, as Marcelo and Bridgett slowly woke up, rubbing their eyes. Frances smiled fondly at them. She kissed Marcelo's head then Bridgett's.
"Come on you three, you should get to bed."
They yawned tiredly, nodding. They looked over at Irene who was still asleep.
"Irene." Frances called, gently.
"Hmm? What?" She asked, tiredly.
"Go to bed." Frances commanded, gently.
"Mmm, 'kay." She murmured, tiredly.
She watched them stand from the couch, standing after they got up. She watched as they moved towards the hallway.
"Merry Christmas Eve." Frances said.
"Merry Christmas Eve." They tiredly said back.
She smiled as she watched them head to their rooms. She heard their doors softly creak as they closed gently. A large, loving smile graced her lips. Her heart soaring as their song filled her. Her eyes closed, a loud purr emitting from her as his arms wrapped around her waist. His warble/purr responded to hers as he buried his face into her neck. Her head tilted to give him more access as her hand reached back around his neck.
"Malphas." She sighed as his lips kissed her neck.
"Good evening, my precious mate." He warbled against her neck.
She mewled softly. She turned in his arms, her arms rewrapped around his neck. She met his red loving eyes.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, curiously, looking him over to see he was wearing his butler uniform, though a few of the buttons on his white shirt were undone.
A smile grew on his lips.
"I'm here to deliver my gifts for my family." He said, his eyes glancing the Christmas tree for a moment before returning to her.
She looked over to see a few more presents under the tree. Her smile softened to something more fondly. She turned back to him, her brown eyes alit with happiness. Her hand trailed down to cup his cheek.
"Thank you." She said, quietly.
He leaned his forehead against hers.
"You're welcome."
There was a comfortable silence as the two stared in one another's eyes fondly. Frances' hand caressed his cheek repeatedly as Malphas' hands stroked her back.
After a few minutes, Malphas kissed her lips softly. She kissed him back. Their flames and song danced within them.
"Come." He said as he pulled away, "Let us get you to bed."
She pouted slightly, knowing he would be leaving soon. He smirked at her. He ran his hand from her back to her side, gliding up her side causing her to shiver. Malphas' smirk widen. He continued trailing his hand to her hand. He lifted it to his lips, pressing a small kiss to her ring. Her heart skipped a beat at the sight. He looked at her under his lashes.
"I will be remaining here for a few more minutes, Frances."
She smiled brightly as her face colored slightly. Malphas continued to smirk at her. He lifted her into his arms. She curled into him, resting her head against his shoulder while one hand pressed against his chest, her left hand moved under his shirt to rest against his heart, her mark. Malphas shuddered, his warble/purr grew louder. She smiled brightly, looking up at his face. Despite still shuddering, he moved gracefully to the mattress on the living room floor. He laid down with her still in his arms. She was about to move her legs so she could lay along his body however, Malphas quickly turned to his right and curled his body around her. She stared up at him with surprise before a smile spread across her lips. She looked up to kiss his neck. He let out a louder warble of pleasure, tightening himself around her as he buried his face into her hair, inhaling deeply. They both relaxed in one another's arms, more than content with each other.
Several minutes of their combined purrs and his warble passed as they continued to be wrapped up in one another. Malphas let out a reluctant shaky sigh as his hand once again went through her hair. She curled closer as she nuzzled deeper into his neck. Her hand continued to lovingly stroke his mark. She kissed down his neck, her legs straightened down his arm. His hand caressed her leg, sliding up over her nightgown. He teasingly ran over her private anatomy causing her back to arch and breath to hitch. Malphas smirked. He continued his dance upon her body as she pressed kisses along his neck. His hand trailed to her shoulder just as she moved his shirt to expose her mark. She wrapped her arms around his neck as she lowered her head and kissed his heart, her mark. Malphas jolted, his hands twitched, sharp nails pierced her skin though she didn't move from her kiss. She pulled away after a moment. Malphas instantly placed a hand under her chin. He lifted it so she would look at him. His fuchsia eyes glinted with arousal, adoration, need, and love as a loving smile formed on her lips. His thumb rubbed her chin repeatedly.
"Such a little minx."
He leaned down and kissed her senseless. She kissed him back. The flames and their song danced within them. Their hold tightened on one another as mewls, purrs, and warble escaped both of them. They parted after a few minutes with her gasping for breath. Malphas relished in her gasp. Their eyes opened, gazing lovingly at each other.
Frances: I love~~~~~~~~~ you, Malphas.
Malphas: I love~~~~~~~~ you, Frances.
They sang at the same time. Their arms tightened even more around one another.
"Be safe." She whispered.
"Always." He whispered back.
"Merry Christmas." They said at the same time.
Then he was gone, but not before leaving a few gifts for her. Frances shivered. She looked down at her heart to see several of his black feathers. A wide smile graced her lips as her purr grew louder. She took them into her hand and rubbed her fingers lovingly over them.
*Thank you, my precious mate.* She sent him.
*You are welcome, my love.* He sent back.
She curled into a ball with the feathers clutched in her hands with them placed near her heart.
*Good night, Malphas.*
*Good night, my precious Frances.*
She fell asleep instantly.
The following morning, Frances awoke to weak sunlight. She looked towards the window where a sliver of the outside could be seen from the black curtains and smiled. It was cloudy and snow was falling softly to the ground. Her hands still held his feathers near her heart. A sigh escaped her as she rubbed them against her heart, his mark. She jolted with a gasp as a surge flowed through her. Malphas chuckled darkly.
*Yes, my precious mate.* He purred, his hand cupped her cheek.
*Malphas.* She said, raising her hand to cup her own cheek over his hand as she lowered the feathers slightly, *Merry Christmas.*
She sent him his presents.
At Phantomhive Manor
Malphas' eyes went to his desk, seeing six presents appear. He couldn't help the pleased warble that escaped him. He pressed a kiss to her forehead, relishing in her content sigh. He felt her hand move from his as he got up from his bed. He walked over to his desk and saw two presents were from Frances while the remaining were from her siblings. He opened the gift from Bridgett first. A chuckle escaped his lips as he saw different cat toys such as a feather on a string and stick, fluffy balls, crinkle balls, and another feather toy on a longer string attached to a stick. It was because her siblings saw him with that lovely grey stray cat when he last visited them. A blush quickly filled his cheeks at the memory. He could feel his mate's exasperated fondness. He placed it to the side and opened Irene's present. A blush covered his face. It was a book with pictures of cats. He flipped through it seeing the different pictures of cats climbing trees, cats cuddling other cats, cats walking, and many other cat activities. He reluctantly moved the present aside. He opened the gift from Marcelo next. It was a cookbook for sweets with a new whisk attached to the book with a black ribbon. He smiled, placing it to the side. He opened his mate's presents. His eyes widened when he pulled out a black picture frame that held sheet music to their song in Frances' writing with three roses—one drawn in a deep red, one a lighter black than the notes and words, and one that was both red and black in a diagonal from the top left corner to the bottom right, two hearts—one was a lighter black, the other red and light black connected in the lower left hand corner, and light black feathers that were… his? taped to the top right corner of the music sheet.
*They are.* His mate confirmed.
"Lovely." He sighed, lightly tracing the frame.
He heard her purr of happiness and love as he placed it to the side. He opened the next present. His eyes widened as a gasp escaped him. He dropped the box the gift came in. He slowly rose it to his eye level. It was two figurines—one looked like him dressed in a—no, the lovely tuxedo he wore for her birthday last year and for when he changed her, the other looked just like her in her purple dress that she wore on her birthday and he dressed her in when he changed her, the black cloak he put on her was painted on the figurine as well. Her left hand was on his shoulder while his right hand was wrapped around her waist, their other hands held one another as if they were dancing. He was most impressed. The artist got every feature right, including… their marks upon their left hands?!
*I painted everything, though everything else was made by the music box shop that made your watch.* Frances explained.
*I will have to visit this shop. Top quality.* He said, a fond smile formed on his face, *Such a lovely artist.* He complimented, nuzzling her cheek.
He could feel her blush.
*Thank you.*
He pulled away, returning his gaze to the figures. He lifted it higher so the circular base was at eye level. There was an inscription within a gold plaque in black letters. It read: Our bodies, our souls, our beings belong to one another for all eternity. His eyes turned fuchsia with the thinnest of slits as a wide open mouth grin spread upon his lips, a fang glinted in the candle's glow as his warble/purr grew louder and his heart skipped a beat.
*No. Thank you, my precious mate.* He warbled/purred nuzzling her neck, his fangs lightly grazing down it lovingly.
She let out a loving sigh as she tilted her head back.
*Mal-*
She jolted up, moving her hand with the feathers still clutched within down her body. He chuckled lightly, amused. Her siblings had interrupted. He looked back at the dancing figures. He turned the key several times. His eyes widened yet again as their song began to play and the two figures began to spin around.
*Mine.* He growled lowly.
Frances smiled.
*Yes. I am yours, as you are mine.*
He warble/purred even louder. His tendrils flowed from his body. The figures continued to dance as the song continued until it slowed down to a stop. He placed it next to the crow and cat figurines. He lovingly caressed the Frances figurine.
*Mine. Mine. You. Are. Mine!* He growled.
*Malphas.* She sighed.
He placed the cat toys and cat book into his last drawer before dressing for the day.
At Frances' Siblings' Apartment
A few minutes before.
Frances sat up feeling the adorable blush coating the demon butler's face. She could picture it perfectly as he opened the gifts from her siblings. Her fingers softly and gently stroked the feathers in her hand clutched at her chest. She could feel his surprise and awe at the framed music sheet. Her smile widened as he noted the feathers as his. She couldn't help, but purr lovingly.
*They are.* She confirmed.
"Lovely." She could hear him sigh.
Her smile widened. The flames and warmth and tingles grew as he looked over the next present. She painted them in their human forms with their symbols upon their hands for she knew that would be where the symbols would appear were she a full demon and so he would see that she still appreciates his human form. She painted it during her down time when Sebastian was doing his chores. She could feel his surprise over the fact that she drew their marks.
*I painted everything though the dancing figures were made by the music box shop that made your watch.* She explained.
*I will have to visit this store. Top quality.* He said, causing her smile to match his, *Such a lovely artist.* He complimented, nuzzling her cheek.
She couldn't help, but blush.
*Thank you.*
A few seconds later, she felt his happiness, love, and pride as his flame danced with hers even from so far away and she felt his heart skip a beat.
*No. Thank you, my precious mate.* He warbled/purred, nuzzling her neck. His fangs lightly grazing down it lovingly.
She tilted her head back with a lovingly sigh. Warmth, happiness, and love filling her soul.
*Mal-*
She cut herself off when she heard the doors of her siblings' rooms opening. She lifted her head and moved the feathers down her chest hiding them within her nightgown pocket just as they entered the room. She heard him chuckle in time with their greeting.
"Good morning, Frances. Merry Christmas!" They exclaimed.
"Good morning! Merry Christmas!" She shouted back, excitedly.
She got up and walked over to them, hugging each of them tightly. They hugged her back. They pulled away as Malphas spoke. She could feel his pleasure at her gift.
*Mine.*
"Let's open our presents!" Marcelo exclaimed, running towards the Christmas tree to look at the gifts.
Frances smiled at her family and love.
*Yes. I am yours, as you are mine.*
Bridgett and Irene sat on the couch while Frances moved over to the tree as well. Marcelo had sat down beside the tree. She shook her head feeling that he wasn't going to pass out the gifts. She took it upon herself to pass them out. As she reached for the first present, she paused a moment as she felt his darkness stroke her with the flames. Her eyes closed as they consumed her for a moment. She had to fight tilting her head back and letting out a moan as she felt the caress upon the figurine's cheek.
*Mine. Mine. You. Are. Mine!* His growl echoed through her soul.
*Malphas.* She sighed.
Her eyes opened. She grabbed the present, lovingly. She looked at the tag. It was for Irene from her demon. She smiled. She turned and walked to Irene to hand her the gift.
"Thank you." She said.
"You're welcome." Frances said.
She turned back around and made her way back towards the presents. She continued passing the rest of the gifts out. Once she finished, she sat on her mattress.
"Well, let's open our gifts." Frances said, looking at her siblings.
"Okay!" The three of them shouted.
The sound of ripping paper filled the air along with exclaims of thanks to one another and Sebastian.
Bridgett received a beautiful silver jewelry box with black roses and a copy of Beeton's Christmas Annual from Frances as she knew she would like the novel from it. The Lady from the Sea by Henrik Ibsen, a beautiful light tan hat with a dark blue ribbon, and knee-high boots from Sebastian, Irene, and Marcelo respectively.
Irene's presents consisted of a red choker ribbon with a rose charm. Underneath the ribbon choker were additional charms consisting of a star, crescent moon, sun, an ocean wave, and pine tree and red winter gloves from Frances. A dark red blanket, red bedsheets, and red hooded cloak from Sebastian, Bridgett, and Marcelo.
Marcelo received a Funtom chess game, a six piece set of pots and pans, and jars of spices from Frances. Sebastian gave him a copy of the very first cookbook he used when he first learned how to cook for the Young Earl. Bridgett and Irene gifted him with a set of sauces and a black jacket.
Frances' gifts consisted of The Book of Love by Fir Edwin Arnold, piano sheet music for the Opera Doris by Alfred Cellier with a libretto by B.C. Stephenson, and a lovely blue bonnet from Bridgett, Irene, and Marcelo. The gift from Ciel was a set of four knives that held the Phantomhive crest upon them (She did not show her siblings these. Though, she asked Malphas to thank the Young Master for her to which he agreed.). She opened the gift from Malphas last. A gasp escaped her lips. A lovely silver tiara with three red rose gems in a straight line with the silver crisscrossing as if they were vines gleaming back at her. She took it out extremely carefully, not wanting it to break. Tears filled her eyes at the sheer beauty.
"Frances?" Bridgett asked in concern.
"I'm fine. It's just… so beautiful." She whispered.
Her eyes closed.
*Thank you, Malphas.*
*You're welcome, my Queen.* He sent her, his hand upon her cheek, wiping the tears away as her siblings complimented the beautiful tiara.
Frances' eyes widened behind her closed eyes. She hadn't thought about that. He is a King of Hell. One of the seven since they marked one another, that made her a Queen. Malphas smirked, still wiping the tears away.
*That's right, my precious Queen and once I am bound to you through the sacrament of marriage, we will be tied to one another utterly and completely. Nothing will tear us apart.*
*Malphas…* She sent him with such overwhelming emotion.
More tears flowed down her cheeks. Malphas continued to wipe them away.
*I love~~~~~~~ you, Frances.*
*I love~~~~~~~ you, Malphas.*
They sent to one another at the same time. Frances felt her siblings hugging her. She sniffled lightly with a small laugh. She hugged them back.
"I'm all right, you guys." She said, squeezing them reassuringly. They pulled away, her siblings still looking at her with concern, "I'm sorry. I just find tiaras really beautiful and to receive one from someone I love…"
They smiled in understanding and nodded.
"It is truly beautiful." Marcelo complimented.
"Are you going to wear it for your wedding?" Irene asked.
"… Hm… I'm not sure. I think it might clash with the "something blue" I'm meant to wear."
"Something blue?" Marcelo asked, tilting his head in confusion.
"Yes. When a woman gets married, they wear something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue." Bridgett explained.
Frances nodded, "Yeah."
She looked back at the lovely tiara, lightly caressing it. After a few minutes, she placed it back in its box. Her and her siblings started to clean up the paper and bags. Frances walked over to the plate of cookies and sent them to the Phantomhive kitchens at the same time sending cards to her friends' room then her presents to her them under the Christmas tree.
Phantomhive Manor
Sebastian smiled as he watched his mate's cookies appear upon the counter. He placed them in the cabinet for when the party began. He continued making early morning tea.
Finny, Baldroy, and Little Man Tanaka met up with Mey-rin downstairs.
"Did you get a card from Frances, Mey-rin?" Finny asked, showing a Christmas wreath with a red bow on said card.
Mey-rin smiled as she held her own card up.
"I did, yes, yes!" She exclaimed opening it up.
It read:
Merry Christmas, Mey-rin!
Presents are under the tree. May you have a Merry Christmas!
Love always,
Frances
"Let's go open them then!" Bard exclaimed.
"Yay!" Finny and Mey-rin cheered.
They took off for the main foyer.
"Ho, ho, ho." Little Man Tanaka said, following after them.
They made it to the main foyer. Their eyes widened ats they looked towards the Christmas tree. An excited gasp escaped their lips when they saw more presents under the tree than yesterday.
"Presents!" Finny exclaimed, happily.
He raced over to the Christmas tree, pulling to a stop a foot from it. Mey-rin, Bard, and Little Man Tanaka followed after him. Finny excitedly pulled out the presents. He approached Little Man Tanaka with a green wrapped box.
"Here Mr. Tanaka, this is from Frances!" He exclaimed.
"Ho, ho, ho." Little Man Tanaka said, accepting the gift.
Finny passed out the presents to everyone including himself.
"Let's open them!" He shouted once he was finished.
Sebastian walked in. All the servants stilled for a moment. Silence surrounded them as the servants stared at the head butler whom held a tea tray. Sebastian smiled at them.
"Merry Christmas." Sebastian told them.
The servants smiled brightly.
"Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas, yes!"
Finny and Mey-rin said at the same time.
"Make sure to clean up as we will be having guests shortly." Sebastian said sternly, but less harshly than usual.
"Yes, sir!" The four of them saluted.
Sebastian smirked slightly with a nod. His eyes spotted the ceramic birds for Finny, the burgundy dress for Mey-rin, a box of dynamite sparkles for Bard, and an origami and craft book for Tanaka from Frances. He smiled as he continued to his lord's room.
Once upstairs, he placed the tea tray upon the trolley. He rolled it to the Young Master's room. He politely knocked upon the door before opening it. He rolled in the cart, leaving it beside his bed before going to the curtains to open them up, letting in the light of day behind the snowy clouds into the room. He glanced over his shoulder.
"Young Master, it is time to wake up." He called, turning to the boy.
Ciel awoke with a yawn, rubbing his eye tiredly. Sebastian returned to the tea cart. He poured the tea elegantly into a red and green teacup. The butler handed him the stemming cup. Ciel took a sip. He pulled it way.
"Hm, Earl Grey."
"Yes, my lord. Of Jacksons." Sebastian confirmed.
Ciel gave another hum of acknowledgment. He took another sip as Sebastian placed a blanket around his shoulders. Once he finished his early morning tea, Sebastian began dressing him for the day while going over his schedule.
"As it is the holiday season, we will be having guests. The Midford family as well as Agni and Prince Soma will be arriving at eleven this morning. The rest of the schedule is open for festivities."
"Very well." Ciel agreed, standing from his seated position upon the bed.
He was dressed in a new blue suit with a black bowtie that held a small holly in the right hand corner, a red and green handkerchief in his suit pocket, white shirt, long blue pants, and black ankle boots upon his feet.
"Let us go greet out guests. You know how Aunt Francis is…" Ciel ordered.
Sebastian smirked as he placed a hand on his chest and bowed.
"Yes, my lord."
The two of them walked down the hall. The butler following his master like a shadow. A content smile graced his lips as he heard his mate begin to sing Christmas songs with her siblings as they relaxed for the day.
Once they reached downstairs, the butler's gaze looked over to where the tree was, pleased as he saw not a trace of the servants' mess.
"Merry Christmas, Young Master!"
"Merry Christmas, Young Master, yes!"
The servants chorused. Ciel nodded his head.
"Merry Christmas." He greeted in return.
He continued on his way as the servants smiled to one another. They made their way to the dining room. They stood to the side as the Young Master was served breakfast. Once served, he began to eat.
After eating, he continued to sit in his chair waiting for his fiancée, family, and friends to arrive. Though, he was a bit bored. Without Frances sitting next to him to exchange pleasantries with and perhaps play a chess game, he felt a bit… sad that she wasn't there nor that he wasn't with her and her siblings. They were fun and reminded him of… He shook his head, trying to rid himself of negative thoughts.
At Frances' Siblings' Apartment
Frances' smile grew as she continued to sing with her siblings. She could feel Ciel's emotions, knowing he does secretly like company as long as they aren't too loud and he isn't too tired to deal with loud people. Though, a worried look crossed her face when she felt him reminiscing about some… A loud note from her siblings caused her to look up at them, smiling as she joined them in song.
Phantomhive Manor
After breakfast was complete, Ciel went to his Office to relieve his boredom. He crossed the room to his desk. He paused mid step when he saw a blue wrapped present. A small smile appeared. He knew exactly who this was from. He resumed walking over to his desk. He looked at the tag, a huff of amusement passed his lips when he read it was indeed from Frances. He opened it only to blush when he saw it was an elegant silvery blue picture frame that held a picture of him and Lizzie as they danced at the ball celebrating his return.
"Hmph." He said, placing it on the right of his desk.
He pulled out his bottom drawer and pulled out Beeton's Christmas Annual from the very bottom of the pile.
When it was half past ten, Ciel shoved the Annual into his desk drawer upon hearing the knock upon his Office door.
"Come in." He called.
Sebastian opened the door.
"My lord. It appears our visitors will be a little early today."
Ciel let out a sigh.
"Does that surprise you?" He asked, rhetorically.
Sebastian smirked.
"Not at all, my lord."
Ciel stood from his chair and walked around his desk. He walked past Sebastian. Sebastian closed the door behind him. He followed his Young Master to the front foyer. He noticed the servants already lined up on the left hand side to greet their guests just as they were before he fetched his Young Master. Ciel stopped at the bottom stair. Sebastian continued forward. Just as he was about to open the door, it burst open.
"Ciel!" Prince Soma called out.
He was wearing the golden shawl Frances had given him, his pants were white with gold trim and white boots were upon his feet. Agni walked in behind him with a bright smile wearing his usual green garments. He placed his hands together and bowed.
"Merry Christmas, everyone." He greeted.
"Merry Christmas!"
"Merry Christmas, yes!"
The servants cheered, bowing as well.
Prince Soma raced over to Ciel and wrapped him in a hug with a warm laugh.
"Merry Christmas, Ciel!"
Ciel gasped as he was enveloped in a strong armed hug. He grunted in slight annoyance.
"Loosen your grip, Soma!" Ciel ordered, trying and failing to push the Prince's arms away.
Prince Soma laughed as he did as he was told, loosening his grip, however he still held him. Ciel coughed to clear his throat from the suffocating hug, his eyes averted as he greeted the Prince.
"Merry Christmas, Prince Soma."
Prince Soma let out another laugh. He finally released Ciel, moving beside him. Agni made his way inside turning to Sebastian.
"Merry Christmas, Sebastian."
Merry Christmas, Agni." Sebastian bowed.
Agni's smile widened as he straightened from his bow.
"Thank you, my friend."
Suddenly, a high-pitched squeal was heard. Everyone turned towards the sound to see a flash of blonde, red, and green rush by. Lady Elizabeth raced towards Ciel. She picked him up and spun him around excitedly while laughing. She stopped after a few twirls. Ciel slouched down, attempting to keep his breakfast down. Lizzie held him up by the waist with a bright, happy smile.
"Merry Christmas, Ciel!" She exclaimed, brightly.
"Elizabeth!" Her Mother's harsh voice snapped, though less harshly than usual, "You do not greet your guests this way, even your betrothed."
Ciel straightened himself. Elizabeth readjusted to hold his arm, still with a bright smile, though it dulled to a calmer one. Aunt Francis, Uncle Alexis, and Edward crossed through the doorway. Aunt Francis' gaze turned to Ciel and softened just a tad.
"Merry Christmas, Ciel."
Ciel cleared his throat.
"Merry Christmas, Aunt Francis, Marquess Midford, Edward." He greeted, looking at each of them.
Marquess Midford's eyes gleamed in happiness. He rushed over and picked up the boy, holding him tight and nuzzling his face against the boy's cheek.
"You're so cute, my little nephew! Merry, Merry Christmas, Ciel!"
"Alexis!"
"Father!"
Aunt Francis and Edward chastised. Alexis Midford reluctantly pulled away from the boy with a bright smile. Ciel cleared his throat again.
"Shall we have tea in the parlor?" Ciel inquired.
"Yes."
"Yes, please, Ciel."
'Very well."
"Fine."
"Sebastian?" Ciel ordered.
"Yes, my lord." Sebastian said, placing a hand upon his heart and bowing slightly.
"Sebastian, would you like some help with the tea?" Agni asked, stepping closer to the butler.
"I would appreciate it. Thank you." Sebastian agreed.
The two butlers moved towards the direction of the kitchen while everyone else moved to the parlor including the remaining servants. Once everyone was in the room, Lizzie suddenly stopped.
"Oh!" She exclaimed. She turned to the servants. Before Ciel could ask what was the matter, she spoke, "I have gifts for you all as well."
She moved with the speed of a demon. She returned to Ciel's side with her hands clasped together, her bright smile returning in full force.
"Oh! You four look soooooo cute!" She squealed.
Bard and Finny were now wearing green caps with red trim with pointed edges around the cap like elves would wear. Mey-rin sported a brown headband with brown antlers with a red bow on the right antler and a green bow on the left as well as a small red nose. Little Man Tanaka wore a white headband with a white stem forming into a fuzzy white halo with golden wings on his back.
At Frances' Siblings' Apartment
Frances let out a quiet giggle as she made hot chocolate for her siblings and herself. She could feel their exasperation and forced (Except for Little Man Tanaka whom she could feel was rather amused by Lady Elizabeth.) happiness from her friends.
"Now all we need to wait for is Sebastian and Agni." She muttered to herself with a bright, amused smile.
She could feel Sebastian's dread. Frances giggled.
*Glad to see my dread amuses you.* He sent her, slightly amused.
She giggled again, adding some cocoa to the ceramic mugs.
*Oh, come now, Malphas. Could be worse. She could have dressed everyone in matching outfits like she wanted to do, however, she knew her Mother was going to be there and decided it would be best not to do such a thing.*
*…True.* He agreed, reluctantly.
Phantomhive Manor
Sebastian and Agni brought the tea and sweets over to the parlor. Tea was a Chamomile Tea of Justin and Brookes. Sweets included mini chocolates made into various Christmas symbols such as reindeer, Santa hats, snowmen, snowflakes, snow angels, and the like, sugar cookies of the same shapes, and Frances' famous chocolate chip cookies.
Soma and Lizzie gasped excitedly when they saw the chocolate chip cookies.
"Are these made by…?" They both asked at the same time.
Sebastian smirked.
"They are indeed." He answered, "Fresh from the oven."
"Hmph." Lady Francis scoffed, "How did she make them when she isn't even here?"
Sebastian's smirk turned into a forced calm closed-eye smile.
"She made them before she left and place them in the icebox giving me specific instructions on how to bake them."
"Hmm… Very well." She said. She turned her stern gaze to Ciel, "I still don't understand why you sent her out there instead of allowing her to spend the holidays here rather than working." She said, grabbing a few of the chocolate chip cookies, placing them upon her plate.
"I needed someone who understood the states as well as the business. The holidays, after all, are a busy time, someone may cut corners. I had to put a stop to it." Ciel stated darkly with narrowed eyes.
Marchioness Midford stared sternly at the boy. He continued to hold her stern gaze. Tension filled the room for a moment. The others watched nervously except for Marquess Midford who stared at the two with admiration, adoration, and pride. Marchioness Midford smirked. She gave a nod.
"Very well."
A matching smirk rose on the boy's lips as he lifted his teacup to his lips, taking a sip. Everyone except Sebastian and the Marquess let out sighs of relief. The tea and snacks were consumed without further incidents. Instead, it was filled with small talk and laughter. Laughter that included Frances, even if she wasn't physically there. It happened as Sebastian and Agni finished placing more sweets in front of Lady Elizabeth. As they stepped back, she turned to them with a bright smile.
"Thank you, Sebastian, Agni. I have gifts for you as well."
As fast as a demon, she moved. When she finished, she looked at them with a bright smile and clapped her hands. Sebastian now wore a red Santa hat with a white trim and white puff ball at the end while Agni wore a green pointy hat that covered the back of his head.
Frances' Siblings' Apartment
Frances quickly handed her siblings the hot drink, laughing as she did so from picturing the Santa hat on Sebastian's head and seeing Agni wearing the pointy hat.
"Frances?" Bridgett asked with a laugh.
"What is it?" Irene and Marcelo asked at the same time.
"Sebastian (She laughed harder.). Santa hat."
Her laughter continued. Sebastian sighed in exasperation.
*Please, don't laugh at me.*
Her laughter turned to giggles.
*I'm sorry, my demon. At least it isn't a halo…*
She paused for a second before holding her stomach as she laughed hysterically. Tears rolled down her cheek. Her siblings giggled and chuckled along picturing the dark haired, black wearing, serious butler wearing a red Santa hat.
Sebastian hid his surprise and irritation well.
*Cheeky brat.*
Frances' laughter returned to giggles again.
*You love me.* She sent to him, sing-saying.
His irritation disappeared as a small, amused chuckle escaped him within his mind. It was ironic since he was once an angel.
*Mmm. Yes, I do, my precious mate.*
Phantomhive Manor
"Ohhhh! You two look sooooooo cute!" Lady Elizabeth squealed, claiming the demon butler's attention.
Sebastian placed a hand on his heart and bowed slightly.
"Thank you, my lady for your consideration towards me."
"Yes, thank you, my lady." Agni said, bowing with a smile.
"You're welcome!" She exclaimed, brightly.
She turned back to her snacks and exchanged in conversation with Ciel and Prince Soma and all the others.
Ciel placed his empty cup down. He looked at all his guests. He cleared his throat. All the talking stopped at once as their attention turned to him.
"Shall we open presents first or play games?" He asked.
"Ooooh! Presents first, please Ciel!" Lizzie exclaimed.
She bounded out of her seat. She raced over to the Christmas tree that was in the parlor where other family and friends' presents sat as well. She returned to Ciel's side. She held out a blue wrapped present with a bright blue bow.
"This is for you, Ciel!"
Ciel accepted the gift.
"Thank you, Lizzie. I have a gift for you as well. (Lizzie gasped in excitement.) Allow me to go retrieve it. Then we can open them together."
She nodded with her hands clasped together.
"All right!"
Ciel placed his present onto the table. He stood to retrieve his present for Lizzie. Once he picked it up, he returned to Lizzie's side. He handed her the present.
"Merry Christmas, my Lady." He said with a smirk.
Lizzie's smile grew as she accepted the gift.
"Thank you!"
They both sat down in their seats. They opened their gifts. Lizzie gasped. Ciel's eye widened. Lizzie pulled out a beautiful pink drawstring purse. Ciel pulled out a brooch that held his family's crest. Lizzie clutched the purse to her chest. She looked up at Ciel who was still staring at the brooch with wonder.
"Thank you, Ciel!"
Ciel looked up. He gave her a smile causing her to gasp slightly.
"You're welcome. Thank you for my gift, Lizzie."
She smiled, brightly.
"You're welcome."
The remaining gifts were passed out by those who were giving them to the receiver while the receivers opened them until only three gifts remained. Prince Soma was the one who pointed it out.
"Hey, wait a minute. There's three more gifts remaining."
Everyone else stopped looking over their gifts to look over at the tree to see he was correct.
"Hm… That's strange…" Ciel stated, standing and walking over to the tree.
Lizzie's lips curved into a knowing smile.
*I had a feeling she would do this. She is such a kind person. It's no wonder her and Sebastian make a cute couple.*
Ciel's eye widened once again when he read that it was to his Aunt, Uncle, and cousin from Frances. Though, he shouldn't have been surprised, he was. He picked up the three presents. He turned, walking to where his Aunt, Uncle, and Edward sat. He handed them the gifts. Aunt Francis raised an eyebrow.
"You gave us presents already." She stated.
"I did." Ciel agreed. Her eyebrow raised higher, "These are from Frances."
He could help the smirk that spread upon his face at the surprised confusion on his Aunt's face. It was extremely difficult to catch the woman off-guard. Lady Francis looked down at the cream colored wrapped gift.
"This is from Frances?" She asked, surprise showing in her voice.
"Yes." He confirmed.
Lady Francis looked back down. The three of them opened the gifts. Edward and Marquess Midford gasped. Marchioness Midford's eyes widened. They took out the gifts. Edward received a crystal in the shape of a heart. Within the heart was a lion roaring. He couldn't help, but smile. They conversed more often than when she was a servant and though, he didn't agree at first, she still possessed the qualities he felt all women should have, being conservative yet strong. She reminded him of his Mother, but without the sternness. Marquess Midford pulled out two cute Funtom bears that held one another with a red heart between them. Both bears were blond with an eyepatch covering the right eye. The left bear had a grey-blue eye while the one on the right had a light lavender. He squealed and hugged it tightly. Marchioness Midford received a silver handled dagger with the Midford crest on the hilt. Engraved on the blade read: A strong Lady. She could not help but smirk. She ran her hand over the blade, admiring its sharpness. She preferred swords to daggers yet, she could appreciate the quality.
"I must thank her when she returns. Ciel?"
The other two nodded with a, "Yes."
"She returns the thirtieth. However, I'm afraid we have accepted plans for the following night. So, it may be best to see her the following weekend."
Aunt Francis nodded once.
"Ah, yes. Elizabeth has accepted the invitation to the Trancy ball as well."
Ciel looked at his Aunt with intrigue.
"Have you heard of them, Aunt Francis?" He asked.
A frown marred her's as well as the Marquess' features.
"The previous Earl Trancy… He was an… unsavory type. Though, much isn't known about his child that took over except that he runs his business much better than his predecessor did. And, of course, how he disappeared shortly after his birth, returning thirteen years later with a butler in black."
"An unsavory type?" Ciel asked.
This was new.
Aunt Francis' gaze darkened.
"Not something that should be discussed today. We shall come to see Lady Frances the following weekend." She said, sternly, ending the previous conversation.
Ciel gave a sharp nod.
"Very well." He said. He turned to Sebastian, "Sebastian."
"Yes, my lord." Sebastian answered, dutifully.
He turned and walked to the table filled with games and began placing them around the room.
The sounds of happy cheers, groans of disappointment, talking, and laughter made this Christmas one to remember. Lizzie looked around the room, her eyes landing on her fiancé. A warm smile shown on her lips. While she knew his work for the Queen was never easy, she was happy to see him actually relaxing and celebrating Christmas with family as they used to before the first fire. And while his smile wasn't as wide as it was when they were children, she was still grateful that he was beginning to show more emotions than the previous year. She knew she had Frances to thank for that and she had during their times they were able to spend together. Her smile faltered slight at that. She missed her. She is such a patient person. Spending so many hours with her, never pushing her, allowing her to cry over Ciel. She was sad that she wasn't here, however, she knew it was important for her to be in America. At least they were about to celebrate the joyous holiday together before she left. Her smile lightened at the thought, knowing she would see her again soon.
