Chapter 11

For nearly month everything was quiet. Odette began to have weird dreams again. 'Where am I? It's beautiful, a savanna?' Odette thought as the darkness fade away to a lush grasslands. Animals all around her were marching towards a large rock that stuck out against the horizon. Two lions walked up the rock followed by a baboon. The baboon held up a lion club and all the animals around her were going crazy.

Odette shot up and realized she was still in her her bed.

"Hey what's the big deal?" Grim grumbled as he got off the ground. He had been flung off the bed with all the commotions.

"I was having another dream." Odette confessed with a yawn. She explained her dream to Grim.

"Have you ever had a dream like that before?" Grim asked with a yawn as he got back into the bed and curled up beside her.

"No I don't think so. I wonder what it means." Odette wondered as she laid back down.

"It's probably just something you ate." Grim replied.

They got up in the morning and got ready for class. The day passed without incident.

"Man history class was extra boring today." Ace whined as they stood in line for lunch.

"I know I was fighting to stay awake." Grim grumbled.

"Fighting? I'm pretty sure I heard you snoring a few times." Deuce ribbed him.

"Yeah, if you're not a morning person it can be tough. Why is the line so long today?" Odette asked arching up on her tip toes to try and see the head of the long line.

"It's because it's guest chef day. It's usually royal chefs." Ace informed her.

Soon they were at the head of the line and got the last of the ham and cheese deluxe sandwiches.

"We're so lucky!" Grim cheered as they sat down at a table.

"Ah you lucky dogs, how about we make a trade?" A blonde short hyena said appearing next to Grim.

"No way!" Grim snapped pulling his sandwich away from the hyena.

"Oh come on this hot dog bun is just as good." The guy said as Grim's sandwich start to sparkle and move towards the hyena.

"W-what! What's going on?" Grim stuttered.

"That was real swell of you. Thanks." The hyena said grabbing the sandwich, shoving the bun at Grim then quickly took off.

"What just happened?" Grim cried.

"Why did he trade with him?" Deuce asked shaking his head.

"I didn't, my hands were moving on their own." Grim sniffled.

Odette took half her sandwich and gave it to him. "Here." She said handing to him.

After leaving the cafeteria the blonde hyena, Ruggie headed off to the botanical gardens where his dorm leader, Leona slept.

"Ah you're finally back." Leona yawned as he sat up to take the sandwich from Ruggie.

"I really wish you would go get your own lunch on days like this, you spoiled prince." Ruggie complained as he sat down beside Leona.

Leona just shrugged as he finished his sandwich. "Then stop doing favors for me. I'm really no better than a commoner since I'm the second born. That food has made me sleepy. I'm gonna take a nap." He then laid back down and went back to sleep.

"It's not like it's that easy. Spoiled is still spoiled. Second born or not." Ruggie groaned as he flopped back. 'I can't believe he's already asleep.' Ruggie thought as he looked over at Leona. 'Those guys seemed kinda familiar.'

After school had ended the gang headed to the headmaster's office.

"You wanted to see us?" Odette asked as they stepped into his office.

"Ah yes, I wanted to better explain what happen to Mr. Roseheart a few weeks ago." Crowley said getting up from his desk.

'It's taken you this long to get around to this?' Odette thought rolling her eyes.

"You mean the overblot?" Deuce asked.

"Exactly. You see magic causes waste and that waste is stored in your mage stone. The more magic you use the more waste. Magic used with intense negative emotions the more waste as well." He explained as he pointed to each of their mage stones.

"Are you still trying to find a way to send me home?" Odette asked.

"I am but I'm sorry; I've been so busy with the Spell Drive Tournament lately." He said with a gentle smile.

"Spell Drive Tournament?" Odette asked raising an eyebrow.

"You've never heard of Spell drive?" Deuce asked looking shocked.

She shook her head.

"It's where teams of 6 players try and get a disk down a field using only magic and into an end zone. The flashier and fancier the spell the further the disk will go." Crowley explained.

"Sounds kinda like football." Odette replied with a shrug, "but it's probably more entertaining."

"Football? Never heard of it." Ace said.

"Is that a sport from your world?" Deuce asked.

"It is, I'll explain later." Odette said waving off the question.

"Night Raven College is famous for producing Pro Spell Drive players. The school will have parents, fans, and reporters with cameras. The campus will be filled to the gills." Crowley explained emphasizing with his hands.

"Oh, I want to play." Grim shouted jumping off of Odette's shoulder and floating in the air.

"I'm sorry but you can't Grim." Crowley said

"What? Why not?" Grim whined sinking down to eye level.

"Because the teams are set up dorms and your dorm only has two people and that's not enough for a team, even if the Ms. Thropp could use magic. Now go I have to prepare for the Head Warden Spell Drive meeting." Crowley explained.

The group left the office and ran right into all the dorm heads waiting outside the office.

'Jeez I thought the air in the room was tense before.' Odette thought as she stood back to let several people into the office.

"Ah you must be the new Head Warden. I'm Kalim Al-Ashim Scarabia Head Warden." A short tan boy said with a grin.

"Oh yes something like that. I'm Odette Thropp." Odette said shaking his hand.

"You need to be here for this meeting then Odette." Riddle said stepping up next Kalim.

"But we're not in the tournament." Grim complained from beside her.

"Oh you're not? That's a shame." Said the silver haired guy.

"I guess we can excuse them this one time since they're not in it." Said a tall blonde.

"Agreed." Riddle said with a nod.

"See ya later than." Kalim waved.

"Until next time then." Odette said with a smile and wave and jogged to caught up with Ace and Deuce.

Once everyone was inside the office Crowley began. "Thank you all for coming, let's get this meeting underway. I finish want to start with saying that Malleus has been put up for the hall of fame and so he'll be disqualified from being in this year's tournament."

"No, I want to play him. He may have better magic but that isn't everything. One can out do magic with brains. He's smart but he's not the smartest person in this college." Leona growled.

"But Malleus has won every game he's played in and scored most of the points for his team. Taking him out will give you better advanced." Crowley countered.

"I rather face him and be defeated than win with my tails between my legs." Leona snapped.

"I agree with Mr. Kingscholar." Riddle said.

"A challenge isn't a bad thing." The silver haired guy said pushing up his glasses.

"So you want me to keep Malleus in the tournament?" Crowley asked shocked.

"Yes." All the Head Warden answered.

"Alright, I'll have the hall of fame recommendation delayed." Crowley sighed. "Dismissed."

Later that night after dinner Odette noticed that Grim was still looking sad. "Are you still mopping?" She asked as she picked him off the couch.

"You bet I am. It's just not fair we can't compete in the spell drive tournament." He grumbled as she put him in her lap.

"We just don't have enough players." She sighed.

"Did someone say spell drive?" A voice asked. Suddenly the resident ghosts came out of the walls. "We love to play spell drive." Ghost A continued.

"Will you play with me?" Grim asked beginning to float in the air.

"Sure, let's go out and play in the yard." Ghost B said disappearing again.

The group went outside and Grim played with the two ghosts.

"This is more entertaining than football." Odette chuckled as sat on the backstairs watching Grim run around the yard.

"Ah, here you are." Crowley said appearing beside the her.

"Good evening Head Master." Odette said smiling at him. "Do you need something."

"Ah yes, I have a request. There are some students getting injured and they refuse to talk to me so I was hoping you could investigate for me." Crowley explained.

"Aren't injured students a normal thing for a college?" Odette asked raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, but ten in a few days is unheard of and all are on some sorta of team. Most are on their dorms' spell drive team." Crowley explained.

"Ten is a lot." Odette agreed.

"No way! What's in it for us?" Grim asked floating next to the them.

"Well, you're living expansive are getting a little high." Crowley started.

"So I'll cut back on the tuna." Grim shot back.

"Hey! You don't get to make that decision." Odette snapped.

"I could get your dorm a spot in the tournament." Crowley said.

"Deal!" Grim said holding out his paw.

"Once again that's not your decision. Beside we don't have 7 members." Odette reminded him.

"I'll see to that. Here is the list of injured students please go interview them tomorrow." Crowley said handing Odette the list then sauntered off.

"Let's head inside since it's dark now." Odette fumed turning on her heel and the rest followed her. "I don't like him threatening us like that. Maybe I should ask about getting part time jobs. Maybe someone will know where we can get some extra cash."

"I completely agree, maybe the shop keeper, Sam, will know something. Maybe he's hiring." Grim said trying to calm her down.

"Maybe." Odette sighed. "Let's start getting ready for bed."

Hi everyone, thanks for your patience as I made my trip. It was exhausting. Hopefully this trend doesn't continue. I hope to continue to post daily if not I'll try to post at least bi-weekly. So what do you think of the first Savanaclaw Arc? I think this is the longest chapter, which is funny cause I wanted to try and make the main story game story the back round story for this fanfiction. I'm trying to figure out how to switch gears but it's still kinda early in this fanfiction. Please be patience while I figured it out. I'm bit worried about this fanfiction ending up over 50 chapters but I guess that's not a bad thing. I did warn in the beginning this was a medium burn. Thanks again for reading. I promise to try and work our favorite boys back in but if not we all know they'll make an appearance at the end and what an appearance it'll be.
