Chapter 13
That night Ruggie went into Leona's room. "Do you think they've figure it out?" Ruggie whispered.
"No I don't think they have but someone might have. Let's keep the plan in action neither way." Leona replied as he sat down at his desk.
"So stick with my next target?" Ruggie asked as Leona closed his eyes.
"Yeah but first, why don't you come out of the shadows Jack." Leona called out.
"Why are you doing this?" Jack asked crossing his arms over his chest and glaring at them.
"I'm doing this to give our team a fight chance against Diasomnia, For the last two years we've been put up against them and lost in the first round. None of our players never get looked by the pro recruiters." Leona explained.
"It's because we don't take practice serious enough. We need to get better." Jack argued.
"Ha, no amount of training will help against him. He's about to be put in the hall of fame. We are a good team but there's just winning against him." Leona laughed.
"You're just cowards!" Jack snapped.
"Call me what you want but I'm doing this for the dorm, to restore our reputation." Leona said.
"Like it was three years ago? I saw that game. You were amazing, we can be like that again." Jack replied.
"You haven't seen Malleus play. You'll change your tune. Now get out." Leona growled.
Jack just threw up his hands and left.
"Do you want me to make him the next target instead?" Ruggie whispered.
"No, just keep an eye on him." Leona yawned.
That night Odette had another dream. This lion wasn't the same ones as before, he was dark and had a scar over one of his eyes. He was posed over a parade of hyenas. "I will be king and you'll never go hungry again! Be prepare!" The king shouted and the hyenas cheered.
Odette woke up form her dream in a cold sweat. 'What's with these strange dreams?' She thought as she looked over at the clock on her night stand. It read 430 am. She carefully squeezed pass Grim and went downstairs to make herself a cup of tea. She sat on the back steps hoping to catch the sunrise.
She saw a figure over by the gate. She stood and made her way to the gate. "Good morning Tsunataro." She greeted.
"Tsunataro?" He asked raising a thin black eyebrow.
"I thought it fit. Did you come to watch the sunrise?" She asked blowing on her tea.
"Sunrise? Is it that time already?" He asked looking east.
"It is. Everyone else will be raising soon and getting ready for school." Odette reminded him.
"I suppose so. And you do you like sunrises?" He asked turning back to her.
"I guess. I was just up and I knew I wasn't going back to sleep. I might as well get something out of it." Odette explained.
"Well then I'll let you enjoy in peace. Like you said class will be starting soon." He said then disappeared into green sparkles.
'What a strange fellow. But everyone here kinda is.' Odette thought as she finished her tea. She went back inside and began to get dressed.
"Where did you go?" Grim asked as he woke up.
"To watch the sunrise, I ran into a strange fellow with horns on his head." Odette explained as she buttoned up her shirt.
"A human with horns? I want to see this. Who is he?" Grim asked.
"He didn't give me a name, I've nicknamed him Tsunataro." Odette said pulling on her vest.
"What a silly nickname." Grim commented.
They quickly headed to the main street to meet up with Ace and Deuce but instead found Riddle and Carter.
"Good morning early birds." Carter smiled at them.
"Where's Deuce and Ace?" Odette asked looking around.
"It's their turn to feed the flamingos." Riddle explained. "Your bow is crooked, as house warden you need to always look your best, even if you only have two members." He said untying Odette's bow and retying it into a perfect bow.
"O-Oh thank you." Odette said trying not to blush as she felt his hands move quickly around her neck.
"We're here to tell you there was another attack last night, rumors are it was Jamil Viper, the vice house warden of Scarabia." Carter explained.
"Oh no another! Do we know where Jamil is?" Odette asked.
"He's probably at breakfast given the time." Riddle said leading the group towards the cafeteria.
The group found him at a small table with his house warden.
"Hello Kalim, Jamil how are you this morning?" Riddle asked as they walked to the table.
"Hello Riddle, good to see you this morning." Kalim asked with his usual smile.
"Have you two met Odette Thropp?" Carter asked.
"Yes, we met the other day at the meeting. This is Jamil Viper my vice house warden." Kalim said waving towards Jamil.
"Nice to meet you. How did you get injured?" Odette asked turning towards Jamil. 'He looks a bit familiar.' She thought as she looked him over.
"Why do you want to know?" He asked.
"We're here on behalf of the headmaster." Odette explained.
"I was cooking last night I began to feel dizzy and it was as if the knife moved on it's own and cut me." Jamil explained with a sigh.
"Sounds like everyone else." Grim sighed.
"Expect for the dizzy part. Maybe because of the blood loss." Odette said.
"Yes most likely." Jamil agreed quickly.
"Really, I thought it would be because of your signature spell…" Kalim began to Jamil quickly covered his mouth.
"It did feel I was moving own. Maybe the attacker has a spell that does that." Riddle said.
"A spell like that can exist, that sounds a bit terrifying." Odette shuttered.
"Oh I would love to have a spell like that, I would use it to clean up at bakery day." Grim bragged.
"So small minded." Carter sighed.
"Wait a minute,…" Odette began until Grim shouted.
"What is it?" Riddle and Carter asked.
"Its Ruggie. He used a spell like that on Grim on the last bakery day." Odette staged whispered.
"Let's go find him." Carter said.
"Thanks for the help." Odette said giving a wave as the group left the cafeteria.
"He's probably in a classroom. I have have first class with him." Riddle said leading the group towards the potion classroom.
"There you are Ruggie. We need to talk." Carter said as they got to the classroom.
"Fine, let's go into the hall." Ruggie said getting up from his desk and walking out.
"We know what you've been up too." Riddle said narrowing his eyes Ruggie.
"Oh, do you now and what are you gonna do about it?" Ruggie asked.
"Stop you of course." Odette stated.
"You have no magic and no pen." Ruggie retorted.
"But we do." Carter said reaching for his pen to find it gone.
"You pampered children you need to keep a closer eye on your valuables." Ruggie teased showing he had all their pens then took off.
"OFF WITH…" Riddle began but Carter stopped him.
"Don't try it you know the consequences if you perform magic without your pen, it could kill you." Carter stated as they chased Ruggie.
They passed by Ace and Deuce. "What's going on!?" Deuce asked following the group.
"It's Ruggie! He's behind it all." Odette explained.
"Get him and you get the team spot." Riddle informed them.
"Can do head master." Ace said.
Deuce nearly got him as he reached out and grabbed his jacket.
"If you want them so bad here take them." Ruggie growled as he threw the pens at him and Deuce let go to catch the pens. Ruggie then took off again.
"Oh thank god." Odette sighed as she catch up.
"Jeez, he's fast." Ace huffed.
"Out doing good I see." Jack said as he walked up to the group.
"We're not doing this just because it's the right thing to do. We're trying to get a spot on our team." Ace snapped at him.
"Oh really, and you two?" Jack asked turning towards the girls.
"Because Crowley is paying me to. I ain't here on a free ride." Odette informed him.
"That's one way to put it." Grim grumbled.
"I thought you were saints but now I'm starting to wonder if you're scum." Jack chuckled.
"I'm starting to think you're crazy." Odette shot back.
"Well there's only one way to find out if you're good or now. Let's fight." Jack said taking off his jacket.
"With fist or magic?" Grim asked raising an eyebrow.
"I think neither way will get us expelled." Odette pointed out.
"Only if we get caught." Ace said.
"Let's use your fist but neither way I don't want to fight a woman." Jack said pulling out his pen out of his pocket.
"How chivalrous of you." Odette muttered as she stepped aside.
"This is where my past comes in handy. I got this one." Deuce said taking off his jacket.
It was close call. "Alright I'll help ya since you seem on the level, so I'll tell you what I know." Jack said as he put his jacket back on. "Ruggie's signature spell is 'Laugh with Me', it makes people imitate his actions. The whole dorm is in on this, that's how no one noticed what he's been doing. They provide distraction. This was all so no one figures out their biggest target."
"And that is?" Odette prompted.
"Malleus Draconia." Jack answered.
"Oh my god, are they stupid?!" Ace exclaimed.
"I heard everything you've said. My pen please, Odette." Riddle said walking up to the group. "We still don't have enough evidence to take this Crowley. We'll need to caught him in the act but I have a plan."
"I'll have no part in this." Jack said turning away.
"Are you stupid? You can't take your whole dorm. At least hear his plan!" Odette snapped at him.
"Fine I guess I can hear you out." Jack sighed.
"Alright but it's going to take a few days to put together it's not going to be instant." Riddle said.
Thanks for reading another chapter. I did said I wanted to work Diasomnia back into the story some more. I know it's not much especially since this is where Malleus actually shown up but since I already used that scene I figured they could just have a short conversation.
