Author's Note
And with the first third of school days done, let us proceed with the next!
Lucy Heartfilia was once a sweet, innocent, little girl. In the years to come, she would bond with Natsu Dragneel after going to the same schools with him. However, she would often be bullied by girls better than her at Duel Monsters, taunted and laughed at for "knowing absolutely nothing about it". Her father, Jude Heartfilia, did nothing about it with the excuse of being too busy. He is technically right. And her mother, Layla, was dead at this time. So, instead of telling her parents, she told Natsu. He was brimming with anger and challenged every single person that ever bullied her and defeated them handily. Lucy wanted to be just like him, a great Duelist with a confident personality that would protect the innocent. One day, she would adopt a power that would change her appearance when she duels as well as a deck that would suit her fascination with stars as well as the bond between her and Natsu: The Galaxy Deck, housing Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon, and…
Cutting off the narration for a moment. Where are we?
Ah, I remember.
The class went to their third class of the day, which was harnessing their Duelist Powers. This class was taught by Cidolfus.
"Welcome class. I'll be your teacher for harnessing your Duelist Powers. My name is Cidolfus Telamon, but you can call me Cid." He said. "Now! Can anyone tell me where our powers come from?" He asked the class. Someone raises their hand. That hand belonged to a young lady with pink hair in a ponytail. "Shionne."
"We obtained our powers from what the people of the country of Remnant call Aura. This Aura gives us a Semblance, but we call them Duelist Powers to differentiate ourselves from the people of Remnant." Shionne answered. "In the end, we're not so different from the people of Remnant in that regard. Even so, we have to strive to be equals compared to them and their races of humans and Faunus. We have more races than them, but we're not different from any humans. That is what separates us from those in Remnant. They are hostile to each other. We can show them the way to equality." She said before Cid applauded.
"Poetic and correct. Very well done, Shionne." Cid replied. "Indeed, our powers come from Aura, and our Duelist Powers were originally called Semblance. However, people from before even the Seven Heavenly Lights were born gave people of other countries Aura. This Aura allows our monsters and cards to come to life and use their effects outside of Duel Monsters. This allows us to more easily use these handy Duel Anchors." He told the class, pulling out a red ring of energy that he throws into the air. The ring left a trail of red energy as it was thrown before it was pulled back into his hand. "And what can they do?" He asked. Another student raises their hand. It belonged to a blonde haired young woman with goggles. "Miu."
"It keeps those villainous bastards from escaping and only allows them to escape if they beat you in a duel." Miu answered.
"Correct." Cid accepted. "It also prevents them from doing what they want UNLESS they beat you in a duel."
'All the Duelists dedicated to their hero work use them, but the particularly sadistic villains use them too…' Izuku thought.
"However, keep in mind that some villains have access to this technology, so you will have to keep your wits about you. If they trap you, you have to win no matter how much you hate a certain amount of cards you have in your deck." Cid stated. "Show them that you're not willing to hold anything back, that you are willing to risk everything that you are."
"Sir, I have a question." A young lady with pale pink hair raised her hand.
"Chiaki. A rarity, if I recall." Cid said. "A question from you must be worth answering, hm?"
"Can I please use a Duel Anchor and demonstrate its uses?" Chiaki asked.
"Why certainly, but you'll need to use this one with a shorter range. Wouldn't want you to accidentally snipe a teacher, eh?" Cid mused, making the students chuckle as he showed a blue Duel Anchor. Chiaki steps up and takes it.
"Hmm…" Chiaki hummed in thought. 'Those eight Duelists are quite strong, from what I can tell… I'll go with… him!' She exclaimed as she threw the Anchor at…
"Ah!" Her target, Natsu Dragneel, grunted as the Anchor attached to his wrist. "You're gonna take me on? Okay! You could've asked~!" He pointed out as he stepped up. The two prepare their Duel Disks and their decks.
"DUEL!"
NATSU LP: 4000
CHIAKI LP: 4000
"Things are a little different with Duel Anchors. When someone uses a Duel Anchor and it successfully latches onto the target, the person that used the Duel Anchor gets to go first." Cid taught the students. "Chiaki?"
Cue: Abnormal Psychology (J-Stars Victory Vs)
"Okay. I'll kick this Duel off by summoning Deskbot 003!" Chiaki started as she summoned an orange robot with some measuring tape attached to it.
LV: 3
ATK: 500
"When Deskbot 003 is Normal Summoned, I can Special Summon a Deskbot monster straight from my deck except 003. I'll Special Summon Deskbot 002!" She continued as she summoned a green robot holding a pen like a firearm.
DEF: 500
"When 002 is Special Summoned, I can add another Deskbot card from my deck to my hand. I will add Deskbot 005. Next, I'm activating the Spell Card Reasoning!" She exclaimed, showing a Spell Card that has the image of a man flicking a card toward his target. "You get to declare a level from 1 to 12. I will then excavate cards from the top of my deck until I excavate a monster that can be Normal Summoned or Set. Then, if that monster's level is the same as the level you declared, I send it to the graveyard along with all of my other excavated cards. If not, I get to Special Summon it and THEN send the other cards I excavated to the graveyard."
"One through twelve, huh…? Okay… Um… Seven?" Natsu guessed. Chiaki excavates the first card from the top of her deck.
"Close, but not quite. I excavated Gameciel, a Level 8 monster. Since it is the only one I excavated, it is Special Summoned and I don't send any other cards to the graveyard. Come forth! Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju!" Chiaki called forth the monster, which looked like a flying sea turtle with tentacles.
LV: 8
ATK: 2200
"I will now place Deskbot 005 on my right-most Spell/Trap Zone as a Continuous Spell card and end my turn." Chiaki finished.
'Huh? She can set 005 as a Continuous Spell card? Wait… She's a Pendulum user!' Izuku realized in his thoughts.
"Oh, by the way, Deskbot 002 has a continuous effect. As long as he's on the field, all Machine-Type monsters I control, except 002, gain 500 Attack and Defense Points." Chiaki added.
003 ATK: 500 + 500 = 1000
"Heh. I'm getting fired up! My turn! I draw! I'll start my turn by playing the Quick-Play Spell Salamangreat Circle!" Natsu began, showing a great circle of energy surrounded by fire. "This card lets me add a Salamangreat card from my deck to my hand! I'll add Salamangreat Gazelle to my hand! Next, I'm activating Foolish Burial!" He continued, showing a Spell card that features someone's hand holding a shovel from a grave. "This card lets me send one monster from my deck to the graveyard. I'll send Salamangreat Spinny! Now, I'll Special Summon the Gazelle I just added to my hand!" He declared, summoning a gazelle with fire on parts of its body.
ATK: 1500
"I can Special Summon it since a Salamangreat monster was sent to the graveyard except Gazelle. I'll then use its effect. When Normal or Special Summoned, I can send another Salamangreat card from my deck to the graveyard. I'll send Fusion of Fire from my deck to the graveyard."
"Hold on. That card doesn't have Salamangreat in its title. How come you can send it to your graveyard through Gazelle's effect?" Chiaki brought up to Natsu.
"That's because Fusion of Fire always counts as a "Salamangreat" card. In the deck, my hand, the grave, even when it's banished." Natsu explained. "Now, if you don't mind, I'll summon a second copy of Salamangreat Spinny!" He continued, summoning an armadillo of flames.
LV: 3
ATK: 1000
End Song and Cue: Gallant (Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2)
"Open! Circuit that leads to my dreams! I tribute my Spinny!" Natsu proclaimed, sending Spinny to the bottom Link Marker. "Come on out! Link 1: Salamangreat Baelynx!" He called out, summoning a baelynx that had fire on its tail.
LINK: 1
ATK: 500
"Now, I'll use its effect! When Link Summoned, Baelynx allows me to add a Salamangreat Sanctuary from my deck to my hand! Next, if I control a Salamangreat monster except Spinny, I can Special Summon Spinny from my graveyard!"
DEF: 1500
"But he won't stick around for long. Normally, when Spinny leaves the field, he would be banished. But! I don't plan on tributing him! Nope! I'm overlaying him with my Gazelle!" Natsu smirked.
'No way! Natsu's an Xyz user as well as a Link user!?' Izuku gasped in his thoughts.
"I overlay level 3 Salamangreat Spinny and Gazelle!" Natsu declared, the two monsters turning into red spirals that go inside a vortex in the sky that explodes. Natsu's left arm glows with power as it absorbs the explosion. "Xyz Summon! Run like the wind! Rank 3: Salamangreat Miragestallio!" He yelled as he summoned a black stallion with a fiery mane and tail.
RANK: 3
ATK: 2000
"Incredible… A Link AND Xyz Summon on the same turn…" Chiaki marveled.
"Oh, you haven't seen anything yet! I'm activating Miragestallio's effect! By detaching one Overlay Unit, I can Special Summon a Salamangreat monster from my deck in Defense Position. Also, when I activate this effect, I can't activate monster effects with the exception of FIRE attributed monsters. But that won't be a problem. For now, I'll Special Summon Salamangreat Jack Jaguar!" Natsu kept going as he summoned a jaguar with flame blades protruding from its back.
DEF: 1200
"Open again! Circuit that leads to my dreams! The conditions for this monster are two FIRE Effect monsters! I'll send Baelynx and Jack Jaguar to the Link Markers!" Natsu exclaimed as he sent the two monsters to the top and bottom Link Arrows. "Link Summon! Come out, Link 2: Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf!" He called forth as he summoned a werewolf with flames.
LINK: 2
ATK: 1800
"Now, I'll activate the Field Spell Salamangreat Sanctuary and use its effect to Reincarnate Link Summon Sunlight Wolf!"
LINK: 2
ATK: 1800
"Now, I'll use my Sunlight Wolf's effect! While I control this monster summoned using Sunlight Wolf as material for its summon, I can add one Salamangreat Spell or Trap from my graveyard to my hand! I'll add Fusion of Fire! Next, Since I control a Salamangreat Link monster while Jack Jaguar is in my graveyard, I can activate his effect to add one other Salamangreat monster from my graveyard to my deck. And if I do, I get to Special Summon Jack Jaguar to a zone my Link monster points to! I'll shuffle Gazelle."
DEF: 1200
End Song and Cue: Dragon Force (Fairy Tail)
"Now for Sunlight Wolf's effect! When a monster is summoned to a zone my Wolf points to, I get to add a FIRE monster from my graveyard to my hand, but I can't Normal Summon or Set or Special Summon monsters with that name for the rest of this turn. In this case, I'll add the Sunlight Wolf I used for its Reincarnate Link Summoning to my Extra Deck. Now for the big one! Open a third time! Circuit that leads to my dreams! The conditions are two or more FIRE Effect monsters! I'll send Sunlight Wolf and Miragestallio to the Link Markers!" Natsu continued onward, Sunlight Wolf splitting into two spirals of energy that went into the bottom right and bottom left arrows while Miragestallio went to the top arrow. "The sun and moon join in celebration! Go forward, more and more! Don't give up! Link Summon! Show your heated soul! Link 3: Salamangreat Heatleo!" He chanted as he summoned the lion of fire.
LINK: 3
ATK: 2300
"Now two effects go off! First, Miragestallio! If this Xyz Summoned card is used as material for a Link Summon, particularly that of a Salamangreat Link monster, I get to return one monster on the field to the hand. I'll choose Deskbot 002!" Natsu kept going, Deskbot 002 disappearing and returning to Chiaki's hand.
003 ATK: 1000 - 500 = 500
"And now Heatleo's effect! When successfully Link Summoned, I get to return a Spell or Trap to your hand! Your Deskbot 005's the only one in your Spell and Trap Zone, so, I'll return that Spell to your hand." He said, 005 returning to Chiaki's hand. "And now, I'll activate the Spell Fusion of Fire!" He exclaimed, showing a Spell of two flames, one orange and one purple, spiraling and fusing together. "I'll fuse Heatleo and my Jack Jaguar!"
'A Fusion user too!? This is nuts!' Izuku gasped in his thoughts.
"Lion of flames, combine with the jaguar! See the future with your eyes always looking straight ahead! FUSION SUMMON! Burn up your heart! Salamangreat Violet Chimera!" Natsu chanted as he summoned a large anthropomorphic chimera of purple armor and blue flames.
ATK: 2800
"If Violet Chimera is summoned, I can make it gain half the combined Attack Points of the monsters used to summon it!" Natsu notified Chiaki.
2300 + 1800 = 4100 / 2 = 2050
VC ATK: 2800 + 2050 = 4850
"4850 Attack Points…! That's… more than enough!" Chiaki gasped.
"You're dang right it is! Go, Violet Chimera! Attack Chiaki's Deskbot 003! FIRE DRAGON KING'S FIST!" Natsu roared as Violet Chimera envelops his fist with blue flames and strikes down the Deskbot, making Chiaki grunt and yell in defeat.
ATK Difference: 4850 - 500 = 4350
CHIAKI LP: 4000 → 0
WINNER: NATSU DRAGNEEL
End Song
Everyone claps for Natsu performing a one turn kill of his own. Lucy couldn't help but give a heartfelt smile as she clapped.
"Your Salamangreat Combo was amazing… I couldn't have seen that coming if I tried." Chiaki stated as she got back up and dusted herself off while the Duel Anchor disappeared and reappeared on her wrist.
"Well dueled, you two. I certainly didn't expect a One-Turn Kill from you, Natsu. Keep up the good work." Cid asked of Natsu.
"Yeah! Thanks, Mr. Thalman!"
"It's Mr. TELAMON." Cid corrected with a zap to Natsu's forehead.
"Ow!" Natsu yelped, making the class chuckle.
To spare you the boredom, Kokonoe teaches how Duel Disks and Duel Fields make Duel Monsters come to life, Jinbei teaches how to control one's Duelist Powers, Uzuki teaches about how it improves one's movement, Koki taught about how the different summoning methods work to those who did not know how to use those methods… even though some of them already know said methods… and Shiro taught them how to investigate and find someone who has turned someone into a card… or have done worse things to them.
With the day about to finish…
Izuku was putting away his stuff and putting on his pajamas for the night. "Hey! Izuku!" Mako called, already in her own pajamas. "Did you hear, did you hear!?"
"Huh? Hear what?" Izuku asked.
"Lady Satsuki asked if she could hold a Slifer Red tournament to see who would represent all of us… and they said YES!" Mako answered.
"Whoa, no joke!?" Izuku gasped. Mako nods in confirmation that she was, in fact, not joking at all.
"Yepadoodle~! Everyone's split up, but those that won against our Senpais have to back out." Mako replied.
"Oh man… I really wanted to duel, too…" Izuku sighed.
"Actually, those that won against the seniors are having their own mini-tournament." Mako stated.
"Oh, really?" Izuku hummed.
"Mm-hm! And the winner of that mini-tournament gets to go up against the winner of the other tournament!" Mako declared.
'Which means if Katchi won his tournament and I won my own, then… we'll have to duel each other to see who gets to be the representative…!' Izuku exclaimed in his thoughts. "Thanks for letting me know, Mako. When is it taking place?"
"I heard it's taking place tomorrow~!" Mako replied.
"Okay! I'll get my deck ready!" Izuku nodded.
"See you at the tournament~!" Mako sent him off as she went to bed and swiftly went to sleep.
'Wow… She is a fast sleeper…' Izuku thought.
