While Optimus went to contact agent Fowler regarding something, at the first relic site, Wheeljack and Lancex were looking around to see if there were any indication of trouble or the relic. Both quickly noticed a nearby cave or cavern. Wheeljack drew his twin blades while Lancex quietly summoned his fusion sword. And with a special light, the two carefully headed into the cavernous area.
As they enter the cave, Wheeljack noticed that Lancex was very focused and hyper vigilant, as if Lancex expected someone or something to pop out from somewhere at any given point of time. Thinking that it was related to the cons, Jack made sure he kept his vigilance as well. Still, there was all this hush hush around the base and Jack had a few questions for Lancex, particularly about Optimus and Predaking. "So, Lancex…what do you think of our leader, Optimus?" Jack asked.
Lancex didn't like being thrown off guard when on high alert, he was puzzled by the question he was just asked. And with a blunted affect, he replied, "Optimus is a well respected leader, has earned respect he is given, and he is kind."
Jack didn't like that blasé answer and decided to change his angle of attack regarding this matter. "Okay, that makes sense. What do you think of Predaking?" Jack asked, being super nosy though Lancex didn't realize it,
Once again, with a cold, blank stare, Lancex answered Jack's unnecessary question, "He is a strong and powerful bot, and to me, he doesn't seem like he is that bad."
Jack silently sighed, as this was harder than he thought. He could not believe the bot was so blind to the obvious. Okay, strike two, Jack thought, you have no idea those two seem to like you. I have one more question for you. Hopefully this will get me my answer. "So, I have one more question for you, please humor me." Lancex shot the bot a dark but blank look as Lancex didn't like being distracted when on a mission. "If you were so inclined to bond with a bot, would you consider Predaking or Optimus as a mate?"
Lancex sighed, as this had absolutely nothing to do with their assigned mission. Still, the question did deserve an answer. "No, as I don't think such high class bots would want a bot like me, whether or not they or I could carry sparklings. I just don't belong.." Lancex replied, stopping short of finishing the last sentence, as he didn't think anyone would approve of him not being of this universe.
Though he didn't show it, Jack felt bad for Lancex. Here was a bot so lacking in confidence that he not only couldn't see that Optimus and Predaking liked the bot, but also, Lancex didn't feel like he deserved such bots. Jack hoped he could help the bot, but for now, their was a mission to complete, and so they began their search for the relic. They just hoped they got to it before the cons.
