Real or Robots?

Tommy had to know for sure.

Ever since he'd seen that movie he'd feared his father was a robot (so basically he'd feared it for about 20 minutes; for a baby that was centuries though!). He'd first tried to prove it by seeing if daddy needed to breathe and while he'd reacted to Tommy sticking his fingers in his nose he still wasn't convinced.

Which was why he now was going to open up his chest and look at the gears.

'This is why he won't let me go on adventures,' Tommy thought to himself, piecing it all together at last. 'My real daddy would let me do what I want! Robots would want me to remain in the house and never have any fun at alls!'

Pulling the wrench from his diaper he twisted on the bolt-

-and cried out when his father let out a pain-filled scream.

Ten minutes later Tommy and Chuckie found themselves back in the nursery, Didi shaking her head as she looked at the latch that had broken and allowed the babies to escape. "All this trouble…" She looked down at Tommy and Chuckie, who were wide awake. "Tommy, that was a VERY bad thing you did. "

Tommy pressed his head against his mattress pad, still remembering how his daddy had cried out and how his mommy had snapped awake and grabbed him when she discovered him trying to save her from the robot. He'd never seen her so upset with him before!

"You really hurt daddy! We do NOT play like that. Do you understand?" Tommy just wiggled. "We play for fun… not to hurt." Didi, who wasn't as tired as Stu, had tied a much stronger knot to lock the crib up. "I think you're too young for these," she said, holding up the tool box that had Tommy's toy tools in them. The only one she hadn't found was his screwdriver. "We're going to put these away until you're older."

Tommy's eyes widened at that. Those were his toys! And mommy was taking them…

He swallowed.

…because he'd hurt his daddy. He'd made him scream and then his daddy had been crying a lot and holding his chest.

'I… I gave daddy a booboo,' Tommy thought, eyes watering. "WAAAA! WAAAA! WAAAA!"

Misunderstanding Didi sighed. "Sorry but if you can't be trusted with these then you can't play with them." She leaned down and stroked his head before looking down at Chuckie. "Try and get some sleep, okay?" With that Didi left, hoping Tommy would settle down and go to sleep.

"It's… its okay Tommy," Chuckie said once the door was closed.

"No it's not!" Tommy exclaimed. "I… I hurt my daddy! I'm the worstest baby ever!"

"No you aren't."

"Yes I am!" Tommy whimpered… only to suddenly grow determined. "But I'll make it up to daddy! I'll show him I can be good!" He let out a yawn. "I'll be the best… baby… ever… zzzzzz"
