Touchdown Tommy
Tommy giggled as he squeezed the balloon, looking at his reflection. He loved this new toy so much! It was squishy and a bit bouncy and made funny noises too! It was just great! And when he threw it the balloon didn't merely drop… it floated!
The balloon squirted out of his arms and went bouncing away but Tommy didn't mind. It was a fun little game to chase it back down. Toddling as fast as his little legs could carry him Tommy raced towards the balloon, which had bounced under the table-
BOOFFF!
Tommy fell back onto his diapered bottom before giggling.
"Oh, is he alright?" Didi asked, hurrying in, having seen the collision.
"He's perfectly fine," Stu said with a grin as Tommy quickly got up and made for the balloon again, only to once more hit the coffee table… and the foam pads he'd wrapped around the edges. "I told you my new baby-proofing material would work perfectly." Stu tapped the foam, Tommy now crawling under the table to grab the balloon. "The professionals wanted hundreds of bucks for this stuff but my mixture is similar to the insulating foam they use on pipes but costs a fraction to produce AND can be made to match the color of your furniture! I tell ya, Deed, this is going to open a whole new division of Pickles Toys!"
"Well, I'm glad you came up with this." She gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Now, you all set for the big game?"
"Yup. We'll have the playpen off to the side in case the kids get fussy, that way someone can see to them without missing a minute of the action. Drew even said he'd bring over a minifridge for the bottles."
"Oh, that will be nice."
"Yup! And Pop dug out my old play desk and we'll set it up on the otherwise of the couch for Angelica."
"I think you guys have this all handled."
Stu laughed. "Come on, Didi… Chas is a single parents and Howard stays at home with the kids! And I'm here just as much as you. We aren't hapless sitcom dads that can't manage our own children!"
So it was that later in the day Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil found themselves occasionally pulled away from their games to sit with their daddies, who happily told them all about the game they were watching. Chuckie liked the commercials, Phil and Lil how muddy the players were getting, and Tommy giggled whenever someone caught the ball! Daddy and Uncle Drew and Grandpa and Chuckie's daddy and the twin's daddy would sometimes cheer and sometimes moan and Tommy did his best to mimic them. His grandpa even gave him and the rest of his friends chocolate milk!
"I don't think it matters what side you were on," the announcer declared breathlessly as Tommy curled up on his daddy's lap, falling asleep, "all can agree this was an amazing day!"
