Ice Cream Mountain

"So," Drew said as he licked his chocolate ice cream cone, note pad JUST out of reach of the kids. Stu was across from him, enjoying some strawberry swirl while the babies, seating in booster seats, happily dug into their bowls. They were going to be sticky messes but that's why the Pickle brothers had brought plenty was wet wipes with them. "Does the 15th work for you?"

"Hmmm… I think so," Stu said, thinking to himself. "I don't think we have anything planned. I'll need to check with Didi though. You know how it is with babies… always having this appointment or that."

"Oh, I know it!" Drew said with a laugh before reaching over and using a napkin to catch a few drops of ice cream that were able to fall off Angelica's cameral swirl cone.

"Thank you daddy!" she said sweetly before returning her attention to her treat, ignoring the babies who were making an awful mess. Phil and Lil had gone with chocolate and smeared more of it on their faces than they got in their mouths. Tommy had a bright red smile, like he was wearing lipstick, thanks to his strawberry ice cream. Chuckie was at least eating cleanly even if he was using a bowl like a baby instead of a cone like her.

"But yeah, barring anything I think the 15th will work well for a round of Putt Putt," Stu said. He and Drew had seen the minigolf course as they were driving to take the kids for ice cream and instantly felt the urge to play well up inside of them. They'd both considered for a moment stopping right there before realizing they were being silly; they had 5 kids with them including three that weren't even two yet. And they didn't have any strollers or the like. Tommy certainly wasn't dressed for walking around a minigolf course; he'd burn his little feet on the cement!

And they'd promised the kids ice cream and it would be cruel to break that promise just for their amusement.

"You know, in a few years we'll be able to take Angelica," Stu said.

"And Tommy after that," Drew said. "Oh! Maybe we should invite Pop!"

"After we play a few rounds… you know he'll just beat us!"

Drew laughed before tapping his pencil against the paper. "Hey Stu… do you think you could whip up some little golf clubs in your workshop?"

"For Angelica?"

"Yeah. I think she'd have fun with that."

"With what daddy?" she asked.

"Mini golf. You hit a ball through funny obstacles."

"Oh… okay!" she said brightly.

Drew smiled before rubbing Tommy's head, the baby giggling. "Maybe would could teach him too. You could even make some obstacles in the back yard…"

"Yeah… yeah!" Stu said, warming up to that, mind swirling with ideas. "Okay, so I'll make some clubs for Angelica first… if she does well then we'll move to Tommy…"
