Dog Broomer
"What is that stench?" Lou said, sniffing in disgust.
"Oh no," Stu said, shaking his head and looking down at the dog. "Spike must have gotten into the trash again." Spike, eharing his name, looked up and wagged his tail.
Didi groaned. "I told you to-"
"Yes," Stu said, cutting her off. "I'm sorry, I forgot to lock the lids." He stood up. "Hold off on the movie for a few minutes? I should go clean up and give Spike a bath. Should get it done before it rains." He patted his pant leg. "Come on boy, let's get you all nice and clean!" Spike, who loved getting baths, barked and happily followed.
Tommy and Chuckie watched as Stu led Spike outside. "What is your daddy doing, Tommy?"
"I don't know. He grabbed Spike though… maybe they are playing?"
"I wouldn't want to play with Spike right now." Chuckie crinkled his nose. "He smells stinky."
"Its not too bad." Tommy shrugged. "Phil and Lil smell worse." The two babies watched as Stu filled up the kiddy pool with water, squirting a bottle of something into it. "Hey! He's making bubbles!"
"But why would he do that?" Chuckie asked.
Tommy frowned. "I don't know but I want to play with the bubbles!" Tommy began to beat on the window. "Bubbles! Bubbles! Bubbles!"
Didi, hearing the commotion, walked over and picked Tommy up. "Aw, be gentle sweetie." She shifting the baby a bit so he could still look out the window. "Want to watch daddy give Spike a bath?"
Tommy gasped. It all made sense now! When he got stinky and dirty mommy and daddy gave him a bath… they were doing the same thing for Spike! Except outside instead of the bathroom! Tommy giggled and watched in delight as Stu washed off Spike, saving hundreds of dollars by not calling an overpriced groomer.
Later on Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil were curled up with Spike, playing with the clean doggy while Stu, Didi, and Lou enjoyed their movie. The babies were so focused on their fun they didn't even notice Bernie come by with his chainsaw to cut down the tree in the backyard, or the scary insurance salesman.
"I swear, the people in this town are all kooks the way they dress and act!" Lou complained. "Reminds me of the old janitor at Stu's school… always wearin' a fedora and this ugly red and green sweater. Why, one time me and the other fellows locked him in the boiler and set him on-"
"Boy Spike, its amazing how alike we are!" Tommy said happily in the playpen. "We both love baths! And eating stuff on the floor! And getting our tummies rubbed!" Tommy rolled on his back and wiggled his arms and legs just like Spike did when he got a belly rub. "You're my best doggie friend ever!"
Spike leaned over and licked the baby, earning a peel of laughter from Tommy.
