Visitors From Outer Space

"Heh, would you believe the gibberish they print in these things?" Lou said. Didi was cleaning while Stu was playing with Tommy, showing off his new Creatures of the Deep toys that he'd just developed; this one was a fish that, when you squeezed it, opened its mouth and swished its tail. Tommy stared at the fish in awe, amazed that his daddy could hold a fish and make it swim in the air; he knew from Phil's fish that fish needed to live in water. But this fish was special… his dad even let him hold it!

"What's that, pop?" Didi asked.

"This dang gutter trash that Tony LeMay left here after he visited," Lou complained, slapping the tabloid paper with the back of his hands. "Supermodels marrying lizard people, aliens abducting people… back in my day you read real news stories! 15 of them every day so you know what was actually happening in the world!"

"Some people just like to be entertained."

"And other people are gullible and will believe this nonsense!" Lou complained even as Stu took Tommy up for bed.

Tommy giggled as he played with the toy fish but soon he was yawning and as his father stepped out of the room, having given him a kiss goodnight, Tommy slowly closed his eyes and fell asleep, having happy dreams about fishies.

Didor shook her head as she looked at Stuvon and his latest invention. "Really, Stuvon? A planet atomizer? Isn't that a little dangerous to have around?"

"You can turn down the setting to whatever you want," Stuvon told her happily. "Make it so it only takes out walls… would be great when we remodel the ship in a few space weeks."

"Stop calling them that, they are just regular weeks." Didor just shook her head. "And even then why have it be strong enough to blow up planets? Just make it strong enough to blow up walls."

"Back when I was first built we didn't need no fancy atomizers to blow up our planets!" Robot declared. "Why, it would just take 15 strong backs to destroy it ourselves, I tell ya what!"

"Uh huh, sure bot," Stuvon said with a patronizing smile before looking back at Didor. "I guess you're right about the atomizer though…"

"I am right! Now that we have Tommic we need to be careful!" She pointed to their 1 year-hatched baby, who was watching his parents from his holding pen. "You know how he gets into things. Remember how he almost got into that other ship last week?"

"Yeah… I need to glue the lock on that holding pen shut…"

Up in Heaven the chaotic master of this world looked down at a jellybean-headed soul and frowned.

"I'm doubt the validity of this story."

The soul stuck his tongue out… before grunting. "Poopie!"

"…you're a soul, how is that even possible?"
