Dummi Bear Dinner Disaster
"You know, I've been thinking," Didi said to Lucy Carmichael, "you and Randy probably want a private dinner, just you two and his boss. Why don't Stu and I watch the kids so you don't have to worry about them?"
"Would you?" Lucy said with a relieved smile. "That would be great!" She turned to Susie who was still sitting with Tommy. "Susie, would you like to stay with the Pickles tonight while your father and I-" she stopped when she saw her daughter's face crumple. "Sweetie, what's the matter?"
"I… I don't wanna move!" Susie cried, breaking down in tears. Tommy whimpered before crying himself and much to the surprise of the moms he actually waddled over to Susie before plopping down next to her, hugging her and sobbing.
"Move?" Lucy said, confused. "Sweetie, it's just dinner. You'll be back here after its over…"
Susie though shook her head. "But then we'll have to move again!"
"Why would we need to move?" Lucy asked.
"Because the last time you and daddy had dinner with the Dummi Bears Man we had to move! He keeps giving us houses but I like this one and don't a new one!" She threw back her head and sobbed, hugging Tommy as the two cried out.
Lucy knelt down and gently gathered up her daughter, Didi doing the same as she tried to soothe Tommy. "Sweetie, just because we have a dinner with your father's boss doesn't mean we'll have to move."
"But… but the last time…"
"That was one time, sweetie. We had dinners before with him and nothing happened, right?"
"I… I guess," Susie hiccupped.
"I promise we aren't going to move. You and Tommy will be able to remain friends, okay?" She looked over at Tommy who had calmed and let out a little sigh of relief. "Okay?" she repeated.
"O…okay," Susie said.
And everything happened just as her mommy said. Susie didn't have to move and the Carmichaels remained in town. Everything remained the same.
…except for Stu because Lou was forced to inject him with horse tranquilizers to keep him from rushing over to meet the creator of the Dummi Bears but that's a different story.
Because Stu was competent… but that didn't mean he always made the brightest choices.
