Hello everyone, Chapter 115 is here! This week Link continued to tell his story about the strange world he had fallen into, and he comes to meet with friends new and old here...
"Hey, I think he's finally getting up!"
"Huh...?" Link slowly opened his eyes as he woke up from a cot. He saw two Hylian knights before him, and he took a look around to see he was in a large tent with many other cots, some with other people resting on them, "What happened?"
"Glad to see you're still kicking kid!" one of the knights said with a grin, "You had a lot of injuries when you got brought in, but it looks like you pulled through!"
Link looked down to see his wounds from fighting the Bokolins and the Silver Moblin were bandaged up, but he felt far less in pain than he expected. He felt a sense of deja-vu from when he woke up in Terrensoll after Kaira brought him there. He hung his head down, reminded of what happened to her. The knights both looked in confusion of what made the boy suddenly look so sad.
"So... where am I now then?" Link asked.
"You're at the war camp we set up. We're fighting off the invading armies of monsters, and this tent is where we've been taking civilians who were under attack." one knight explained.
"Armies? You mean those Bokolins weren't the only ones?" Link exclaimed.
"Yeah, we've been at this for a couple months now." sighed a knight, "They just showed up out of nowhere and attacked Hyrule Castle. If it weren't for the Commander and 'Little Peacock' I don't know what would had happened!"
'Little Peacock?' Link thought to himself.
"Hope they make it back soon." said the other knight, "Lana's been keeping things peaceful for the most part, but she brought some weird company with her after her last mission."
"'Lana... wait, did you say Lana?!" Link exclaimed.
The knights took Link outside where he saw numerous more tents and many, many Hylian knights doing various activities. Some where training against each other, some where consulting maps to plot out routes and plans of attack, some were at benches eating meals, while others were just resting and chatting casually.
"Woah, there's so many of you guys." Link said.
"Hee hee hee..."
He thought he heard a dark giggle and turned, only to see nothing behind him.
"We certainly need all the help we can get to take on the dark forces that are attacking Hyrule." said the knight, "Thanks to the evil sorceress' power they over-number us big time."
'A sorceress...?' Link thought, before asking, "So where is this Lana person?"
"Over at the medical area, she's helping tend to the troops." said a solider, pointing over at one tent.
Link ran off to the medical tent, and there he saw the girl who he recognized as the one that saved him before from the Silver Moblin was busy healing an injured knight with magic.
"There you go. Now rest up, you earned it!" the girl said to the knight. She looked over to see Link and her lips perked up into a bright smile, "Oh hey, glad to see you're awake!"
The girl came right over to Link, bending over at him with her hands on her knees, her side ponytail swayed around with each motion she made.
"Hi... you're Lana right?" Link asked.
"Uh huh, and you're Link!" Lana said grinning, pointing her finger against his chest, "I was worried about you after you fainted, but it looks like you recovered real well!"
Link blushed a little at Lana's upbeat attitude, though he was a little confused about how she already knew his name, "Uh, I-I wanted to thank you for helping me out back there with the monsters. I just couldn't do it by myself..."
"No problem, this whole war is overwhelming enough for all of us. I think most people would be surprised to see a kid like you hold their own so well against those creeps." Lana said, reaching out and taking him by the hand, "Come on, I'll show you around here!"
The two left the tent and Lana took Link around the camp, introducing him to the various soldiers. He got to see the army was well organized and trained, yet also very upbeat and friendly. Some of the troops joked about Lana finding herself a little boyfriend, which made Link the one to be most embarrassed.
"Hey, Lana... this is supposed to be Hyrule, right? It looks a lot different than I remember it." Link said looking around.
"That's because this is a Hyrule way different than the one you remember, over a thousand years into the future from where you came from... little Hero of Time!" Lana said with a wink.
"HUH? A thousand years?! How do you know-" Link exclaimed, then did a double take at her last words, "Wait, how do you know about me being the Hero of Time?!"
"Trust me, I know a lot about you and your legacy." Lana said grinning.
Lana explained that she and the Hylian knights were battling against a dark sorceress named Cia, who was once the priestess of a group that watched over the Triforce, and as part of that, was also an overseer of time itself.
However, as Cia observed the eras, she became fixated on the legacy of a great warrior whose will carried on through the ages, and she developed into a deep infatuation for them, as well as a bitter jealousy for a certain princess who the warrior cared for.
That jealousy drew the attention of an evil spirit who was wandering the world, trying to reclaim the lost fragments of it's power. It offered Cia a deal with the devil, to work with it for power and get everything she desired. She accepted and declared war on all of Hyrule, one of her acts included opening paths from other time periods to spread her influence and power.
"Cia is opening up rifts in time, and bringing over people and places from all over to this era." Lana said, "It's throwing the balance of time out of whack and casing pain to the people, so I'm working to put a stop to her plans..." she hung her head down, "...no matter what."
"And you got the help of the Hylian army to do it?" Link asked.
"Yeah, thanks to my new friends." Lana perked up and nodded, "I can't wait to introduce them to you!"
"Oh my, look at you! A cute little grasshopper!" smiled a young pretty lady in a frilly dress named Agatha, she was holding a parasol and had strange glowing butterflies around her, "A pleasure to meet you!"
"Uh, likewise." Link said, he was surprised that such an odd girl was considered one of the top warriors in the army, but he was told by the knights that her bug companions were pretty destructive on the battlefield.
"Well I have some more bugs to attend to, so I should be on my way. Be mindful to watch out for the kitty though, she's been rather grumpy lately!" Agatha said, she leaned forward and gave Link an affectionate head pat before skipping off on her way.
"Agatha can be a little weird, but I couldn't have completed my mission without her help." Lana said, "There's some other friends I want you to meet, but they're still out on their own missions."
"She said something about a kitty?" Link asked looking around, "I don't see a cat anywhere."
"It's... a long story." Lana laughed a little, "Come on, let me show you around more."
"This is where we keep our royal steeds." Lana said, showing Link a fenced-in area with a bunch of horses. The knights were doing well to brush and feed them, "I don't like riding them much, but they're so cute!"
Link smiled at Lana's upbeat enthusiasm, and how respected she was among the knights. In some ways she reminded him of Saria, and he found himself thinking more about his situation regarding his future...
"Hey, open up the gate, we got a new one!" called out a knight, as Link and Lana both turned to see what they brought in, and Link gasped out.
It was a smaller horse compared to the others, and it was thrashing around wildly, clearly not wanting to go in with the other ones. It managed to yank it's reins out of the knight's grip and whipped at him with them to keep him back.
"Jees, a feisty one, isn't it?" another knight asked as they surrounded it.
"Is that..." Link spoke, "Epona?! Where did you find her?!"
"Actually some weird girl in a green hood found her." spoke the knight rubbing at his head, "Said something about a kid she promised to help out, and she left it with us before running off."
Link recalled a certain young lady he met shortly after coming to this Hyrule, and how determined she was to help him find his horse. He smiled lightly, but was jolted out of those thoughts when he saw Epona still thrashing around and beating up the knights with her reins.
Thinking quickly, he pulled out the Ocarina of Time and started playing the song Malon taught him. The slow, light-hearted tune flowed across the area, and the tiny horse started to call down from the sound, before bumping a knight out of the way and galloping right up to Link. The young Hylian hugged her, as she nuzzled him out of affection.
"Aw, she's so precious!" Lana said.
"I've been looking for her since I wound up in this world," Link said happily, "I'm so glad you're okay Epona!"
It took Link some time to assure Epona that she would be safe with the other horses, before he went back to walking with Lana through the camp.
"So now that you found your steed, what do you plan to do now?" Lana asked.
"Not sure... I need to get back to looking for some other friends of mine..." Link said, thinking about Darunia and Navi. Link's thoughts then turned to what happened in Terrensoll, and Kaira. "...but I don't know if I want to leave while this whole war is going on. Is there anything I could do to help you?"
"Oh, no... don't worry about that." Lana shook her head, "You've been through a lot. I just want you to rest here at the camp until I find a way to get you back to your own time!"
"Uh, okay..." Link sighed, rubbing the back of his head. He definitely didn't want to get in the way of everyone, after getting overwhelmed by the monsters before he figured he'd just be a burden to them.
But then he recalled something odd she mentioned. He asked her, "You said you wanted to get me back to my own time, does this mean you're an overseer of time like that Cia woman you mentioned?"
"Well..." Lana started, she seemed a bit hesitant to explain.
But before Link could probe her further, he felt a strange sensation. He noticed out of the corner of his eye that his shadow was shifting a bit, then lunged at him with a horrifying screech.
"AAAAHHH!" Link shouted out in horror, falling backwards onto his rear as the shadow creature loomed over him, 'Is... is this Dark Link?!' he thought in horror, recalling the words of Navi from before about controlling his anger, 'I-Is he back after I got so angry with the Bokoblins?!'
Link drew his knife, holding it up at the shadow nervously, but the creature just grinned wickedly, before it took on a strange form Link had never seen before.
It was a small imp-like creature. It's skin was a black color, with long orange-red hair done into a ponytail, and wore a stone object over half of it's head. It's exposed eye was an eerie yellow, and it bore a creepy, wide grin on it's face.
"Midna..." Lana stepped up with a frown, "I thought I said not to do stuff like that to everyone!"
"Ah hee hee hee hee! I couldn't help it!" the imp giggled with a feminine voice, "Little brats like him are so easy to scare!"
"That's mean, he's been through enough as it is!" Lana said stomping her foot.
"Well things have been too boring around here while we're waiting for your friends to get back, I have to do something to keep myself entertained." Midna scoffed. She looked down to Link and grinned, "Hee hee, you should have seen your face, priceless! I'm surprised you didn't wet yourself!"
But rather than annoyance or sulking like she expected, the imp saw a look of absolute trauma in Link's eyes. Something about it bothered her, but she shook it off.
"L-Lana, just what the heck is this thing?!" Link asked.
"Ugh, I'm sorry I didn't warn you about her." Lana said, kneeling down and embracing him, before glaring at the imp with an annoyed pout, "This is Midna, she's a type of being called a Twili. She's been working with us to defeat Cia's dark forces."
"Tsk, what a little weakling." Midna sneered, waving her hand dismissively, "Having to be comforted by a girl like that, some people don't have the luxury of others to turn to..."
Link noticed the imp's voice being strained as she said those words, but she sunk away into the shadows before he could say anything in response.
"Don't mind her, she's been through a lot herself. She's actually the princess of the Twili Realm, but she was overthrown from her position by her traitorous adviser." Lana said, "She may come off as mean, but I know she's a good person deep down."
Link contemplated that, as the two saw Midna spook a knight that had been passing by in the distance.
"Midna, cut that out!" Lana shouted.
"Ms. Lana, the others are on their way!" a knight saluted to Lana and Link, who were in the middle of having lunch together, "Looks like they even brought some new allies!"
"That's great!" Lana said happily, "Trust me when I say you're gonna be surprised when you meet the others, Link!"
"I've been surprised by enough here as it is." Link said with his mouth half-full of food.
"Hi everyone! I'm back!" said one voice. Link turned to see who it was and his eyes widened.
"Hey, Little Peacock is back!" grinned one of the knights.
It was a young man with blue eyes, blonde hair, wearing a green tunic and cap, and wielding a sword and shield. The resemblance to himself back when he was an adult in the dark future was staggering, there was even a small fairy floating around him. One of the only real distinct differences was the blue scarf he was wearing. Besides the fairy, also by his side was a strange being that looked like a floating blue woman in a poncho without arms.
"Hey, glad to have you back!" Lana said excitedly, standing up quickly and running over to him, Link noticed how happy Lana was to see the man, "I take it you completed your mission?!"
"That's right, I vanquished the mad man working under the sorceress and destroyed the monster he was trying to summon!" the scarfed man said pumping his fist, "I hope I can continue to make you proud Lana!"
"Hee hee, you're always trying so hard to please everyone Link." giggled Lana.
"Even his name is Link?!" the young hero exclaimed.
"Yeah, we've called him 'Little Peacock' around the barracks, before his promotion," a knight snickered, "We call him that cause he's always trying way too hard to impress everyone!"
"Come ooon, enough with that 'peacock' thing..." the older Link said annoyed.
"Master's performance in battle exceeded my expectations." the blue poncho girl said in a monotone voice, "I calculate a eighty-seven percent chance of success under his strength, but I have decided to show support in his cause for the time being."
"So... just what are you then?" a knight asked looking at the floating woman.
"I am Fi, the spirit of the goddess sword." Fi explained, "I have chosen Master Peacock as my temporary master until this crisis has been properly averted."
"Stop calling me Peacock!" the older Link shouted to everyone, making them all laugh out except for Fi. He then noticed the younger Link staring at him, "Huh? Who is this little guy?"
"He bares the same green clothing. Perhaps he is a fan of Master Peacock's heroism?" Fi suggested.
"A fan...?" the older Link muttered in thought, before his eyes widened, "I've never had an actual fan before..." he quickly bowed to the younger Link at the waist, shouting out, "I promise I won't let you down!"
"Huh?" Link exclaimed at the grown man bowing to him, "Wait, I'm not a fan or anything, I don't even know you!"
"Oh, I see..." the older Link muttered, squatting near a crate with his head downcast.
"He's that depressed about it?!" Link asked in bafflement.
"Ms. Lana, the commander is on her way back here as well, it looks like she found the princess! And she even brought some new allies as well!" exclaimed a knight, gesturing over to the new group arriving.
"Hmph, looks like things are as lax as usual around here." scowled the commander, "I swear I can't leave you guys alone for a week. I'm going to have to whip you all back into shape."
It was an older tanned woman with white hair and battle gear, and holding a large sword on her back. She was accompanied by a beautiful young woman with long blonde hair, sapphire eyes, and wearing a purple warrioress gown. Link looked at them with wide eyes, the resemblance they had to his friends Impa and Princess Zelda were just as uncanny as the older Link. The blonde woman in particular just radiated beauty, and bore a bright smile that caught the attention of everyone in the area.
"Rookie, it's good to see you made it back in one piece." the white haired woman said to the older Link, who quickly stood to attention before her.
"Thank you Commander Impa!" the older Link said nervously, then looking over to the blonde woman, "Uh... is this really...?!"
"Yeah Link, it's the princess!" the fairy by his side said anxiously.
The blonde woman smiled warmly, "It's good to see you again Link, I see you're doing well."
"Same to you Pri-" the older Link started, before realizing his position and frantically bowed to her, "I-I mean, an honor to see you again Princess Zelda, I am relieved you're safe! I apologize for not being able to assist you back at the castle!"
"Hey, come on now, at ease." the woman now known as Zelda giggled, "There's a lot I need to tell you about that."
As the older Link was trying to show respect to the princess, the younger Link noted Lana was watching the two with a somewhat sad stare in her eyes.
"Ooohohohohoho! That's right, everyone gaze upon my illustrious appearance!" suddenly spoke up a haughty woman's voice that sounded incredibly familiar to him.
"Bwahahaha, great to meet you guys!" laughed another familiar voice, making Link turn to see who they were.
He saw with astonishment that it was his friends Princess Ruto and Chieftain Darunia, walking into the camp with a group of knights. What was really odd though was Ruto was already a full grown adult, and looked almost just like she did in the dark future. Darunia was even holding the Megaton Hammer in his hand.
"Princess Ruto? And Brother Darunia?!" Link exclaimed, running right up to the two of them.
The zora woman and goron man both looked down at Link in confusion for a few seconds, before gasping out in realization of who he was.
"Brother Link, you made it here too?" Darunia exclaimed.
"Link, what are you doing here of all places, and why are you so...?!" Ruto exclaimed, "...so tiny?!"
"Hm? What's with the tiny version of Rookie here?" the commander Impa asked raising an eyebrow.
"He is a tiny fan of Master Peacock." Fi stated.
"Stop calling me tiny!" the tiny Link shouted in a fit.
"And stop calling me Peacock!" shouted the larger Link.
"Okay, we really need to sit down and talk." Lana said sweatdropping.
Everyone was soon seated at a table to discuss that situation that had transpired, and took the time to introduce the new allies they had.
It turned out the Death Mountain that Link saw in the portal was indeed the same one from his own era; but due to the dark sorceress Cia manipulating rifts in time, Death Mountain and Zora's Domain had both been transported into this distant future version of Hyrule. Commander Impa had gone to those locations to investigate and helped Darunia and Ruto out when monsters attacked them.
Zelda was the army's captain, as well as ruler of the era of Hyrule they were currently in, but after Hyrule Castle fell under attack by monsters, she had escaped and taken the form of a ninja named Sheik to work undercover with Commander Impa and the older Link. She had exposed her true identity while working with Impa to save Darunia and Ruto.
Link was especially baffled that this Zelda just so happened to take on the identity of a ninja named Sheik, very similar to the Zelda he knew from the dark future did... He wondered where she could have gotten the idea to do that, or if it was just a massive coincidence...?
"That was all a lot to take in..." the young Link said, bowing his head to Zelda and Impa, "But thank you both for saving my sworn brother and Princess Ruto!"
"Oh my, you're quite polite, aren't you?" Captain Zelda asked with a gentle smile, "It's a pleasure to meet the one who had the demon king Ganondorf captured all that time ago."
"Yes, you're a bit on the shrimpy side, but you're at least more assertive than this guy." Impa said, gesturing to the older Link who was standing at attention for orders from her and Zelda. If they didn't know any better, they could have sworn the older Link had dog-like ears and a wagging tail as he stood obediently.
"So what's your deal anyway Brother Link?" Darunia asked, "Where you been off to these past seven years, and why you still look like a kid?"
"Yes, I thought you said before you're a Hylian and not a Kokiri." Ruto said, "I hope I don't have to get you a stool for you to stand on during our wedding!"
"That's because Link comes from a different time than you, five years ago from your time to be exact." Lana explained, "To make it simple... ...if the two of you had came here from the twenty eighth year of the century, then Link came here from the twenty third year."
"I... guess that makes sense?" Link said. "I mean about as much sense as anything else going on."
"Oh I see, so Link-darling is only twelve as of right now!" Ruto realized.
"It's really weird to hear a grown woman like you call this kid 'darling'..." Midna said with a look of disgust.
"Hmph, I'll have you know we engaged at the age of ten, and I plan to marry him when we both become adults!" Ruto said sticking up her nose, "Though I wouldn't expect a dirty little stray cat like you to understand something like that!"
"Who are you callin' a cat you walking piece of sushi?!" Midna hissed, standing on all fours while her back was stretched upwards in anger. She was quickly taken by Agatha who started cuddling her against her will.
"Aw, poor kitty is upset!" giggled Agatha.
"Leggo of me!" Midna shouted, batting her little hands harmlessly against Agatha's head.
"Ugh, my head hurts from all of this..." Darunia groaned, "I'm confused enough by having two Links here."
"Good point, maybe we should use different names to separate you two." Lana said, looking to the older Link and the younger one, "We'll call you General Link and Young Link!"
"I can't do that!" General Link protested, "If this Link really came before me, he must be my ancestor, and my grandfather always taught me I must respect my elders!"
"That's not really necessary..." Commander Impa said sweatdropping.
"So this Link might be my descendant...?" the newly named 'Young' Link asked looking to the older one, then thinking to himself, 'Does this mean I ended up having a family of my own after all...?'
"Why yes, and he's clearly not a zora!" Midna pointed out with a malicious grin, "Looks like he didn't end up with you after all, sushi girl!"
"Hmph, I-I'm sure there's a perfectly fine reason for that!" Ruto argued at Midna, "Lana, your job is observing time, right? Who did Link-darling marry in our future?!"
"Hey, woah! I can't answer that!" Lana said waving her hands defensively, "It's not my place to say that sort of thing! We're already taking a lot of risks gathering together like this to begin with, and we're only doing it because of everything Cia is causing!"
"Speaking of that Cia bitch..." Midna said, scowling at the mention of that name, "I think it's time you tell us just what is going on, namely your connection to the sorceress, and why she looks just like you?"
"Huh?" the others exclaimed.
"Oh yes, when the kitty knocked that horrible sorceress' mask off, we saw she looked almost just like Lana..." Agatha spoke, "She even had the same eyes..."
"..." Lana sat motionless and silent, and Young Link could see an uneasiness in her eyes.
"Please, you're among friends Lana." Captain Zelda spoke gently, placing her hand over Lana's, "Tell us what's happening."
Lana looked to Zelda and let out a sigh, "Okay, I've been meaning to tell you all anyway, and this is a good chance to do so. You see, the connection between me and Cia is... that we're the same person."
She went on to explain that in order for Cia to bond to the evil spirit she made the deal with, it required the priestess to lose the light within her, basically to drive out the good in her heart and embrace the power of darkness. When Cia accepted, that light took on a physical form and became the one they now knew as Lana.
"So basically you're a part of the guardian of time..." Captain Zelda spoke.
"Oh my..." Agatha said putting a hand to her cheek, "Battling that dreadful sorceress must be quite hard for you then, isn't it Ms. Lana...?"
"..." Lana said nothing, but just stared down sadly. Link watched Lana closely, and he put his hand on her arm.
"It's okay Lana." Link assured her, "We'll do whatever we can to help you."
"Thanks..." Lana said with a light smile, while Ruto was looking to Link and Lana closely with a small scowl.
"Here, this is yours, right?" Lana asked, taking a sheathed sword from the smithery area of the camp and handing it to Link, "I found it left behind when the Silver Moblin was destroyed."
"It didn't have a sheath, so we got you a new one for it." the smith who had been working on the sword said, "How do ya like it?"
Link stared down at the sword, it was the same one Kaira's husband once held before he was killed, and the sword that Kaira used to wound the Silver Moblin just before it could hurt Link any further.
"Link?" Lana asked.
"... ...t-thank you for this. I'll keep it safe." Link spoke softly, he bowed his head in thanks to Lana and the smith, before walking off with the sword. Lana looked out at him curiously as he left.
As Link was walking through the camp, he past by Midna lounging on the back of a type of wolf-like twili apparition like it was a sofa. She glanced over at Link as he past her.
"Hey little boy, where you going with that big ol' sword?" the imp said with a snide grin, "Better be careful with that, or it might cut you down even shorter than you are already!" she added with a giggle.
But Link completely ignored her and kept walking, surprising Midna as she saw the serious gaze in his eyes.
The young Hylian sat himself down at a bench and continued to stare down at the sword, thinking about how Kaira was able to find the strength to protect him with it, and protect him while he was unconscious...
He pulled out the Keaton mask and stared down at it, recalling how happy Kaira was when he wore it.
"Link? What's up, wanna talk?" spoke up Lana, bending over at him, "Where'd you get that sword anyway? Looks a bit too big for you."
The young Hylian was hesitant to say anything, as he knew Lana had her own troubles to deal with involving the war and Cia, but he was rather taken in by her violet eyes.
"Cause it's not really mine..." Link spoke, "It belongs to someone in a village I stayed in, and I wanna give it back, but I don't really wanna show my face there... not after what happened..."
Meanwhile Ruto was walking through the camp, searching for Link. She finally spotted him talking with Lana, and her irritation towards the white sorceress was starting to grow more. She considered giving them both a squirt of water from behind to cool them down, but she was stopped by Darunia.
"Hey Princess Ruto," Darunia whispered, "It might not be my place to say something, but maybe you outta give Brother Link some space, he looks like he has something he needs to get off his chest."
Ruto was about to tell Darunia off, but she then looked over at Link and saw the sadness in his eyes as he spoke to Lana,
"Come on, it might make you feel better if you talk." Lana assured him.
"Well okay... But d-don't tell Princess Ruto or Brother Darunia, I don't want them to hear about all this. You see this sword belongs to..." Link started, as he told her what had happened in Terrensoll with Kaira and the monster army.
"Oh goddesses!" gasped out Lana, "Now I understand why you tried so hard to fight all those things!"
"I can't show myself there after what happened... I thought I found a place I could call my home, but I screwed up and lost it." Link sniffled, as he thought about Saria and his friends in the dark future, "Cause I was too weak to protect them... just like before..."
'Like before...?' Ruto thought as she listened in on Link's conversation.
"Oh come on Young Link, you put way too much on yourself." Lana said, giving him an assuring pat on the back, "I can understand how you feel that kind of pressure and expectation, but you can only do so much. If what you told me about Kaira is true, I'm sure she wouldn't blame you for what happened!"
"...you think so?" Link asked.
"Uh huh! I know so!" Lana smiled, "Now cheer up, okay?"
"...o-okay..." Link spoke, though still feeling a bit uneasy about things. He looked back down at the Keaton Mask, thinking about Kaira and her sweet smile, before putting it on the side of his head like she did for him that one night, "Thanks Lana."
"Aw, aren't you cute!" Lana giggled, and spontaneously gave him an affectionate hug. After a moment of hesitation, Link returned the hug, taking some enjoyment in her soft embrace.
"Hey you little hussy!" Ruto exclaimed out of nowhere, "Keep your hands off of him! He's still a child you know!"
"Tsk, weren't you the one saying that you were going to marry him?" Midna spoke up, emerging from a shadow of a nearby tree.
"Huh? What are you-?" Link spoke,
"Waaaaah! Brother Link!" Darunia cried out, coming up and giving him a big Goron hug, "If you need a home then you can shack up with me and our brothers! I can't wait to introduce you to my son, and you can have all the Top Sirloin Rocks you can eat!
"Hey, cut it out or you'll squeeze the life out of him!" Ruto grabbed Link from Darunia's grip, only to instead hug him tightly against her chest, "Oh Link, we overheard everything, I can't believe you went through all that! You poor dear!"
"Overheard? You two were ease-dropping on him." Midna pointed out.
"Well... so were you then!" Ruto exclaimed.
"Mmph!" Link muffled being squeezed between Ruto's breasts.
As Darunia and Lana were trying to save Link from being smothered by Ruto, Midna scoffed and turned her back. She floated still, taking in everything Link had said about what happened in Terrensoll. She thought about the vile fiend who took her throne from her in the Twili Realm, and everything she had to leave behind...
Midna cast her gaze over at Link, who was now in Lana's arms as she was scolding Ruto and Darunia for hugging him so tightly. Something about him reminded her of a certain 'partner' of hers that she had been working with before, but was separated from him after the attack by Cia.
"...tsk, humans." Midna muttered, sinking back into the shadows.
And that ends things for this week. Next time, 'Young' Link takes part in the battle against the dark sorceress, but what lengths will he have to go through to help his friends? Find out next week!
For those unaware of Hyrule Warriors' story, Young Link was a DLC character in the original Wii-U version, with Darunia and adult Ruto being in the base game, I hope I did a decent explanation for how they met like this. This plot point is something I've been planning for a long time now, with Ruto and Darunia giving cryptic dialogue throughout the story hinting at it, and the importance of this flashback will be made more clear in the next couple of chapters
In regards to Hyrule Warriors Link, I've always seen his personality as a very enthusiastic and eager-to-please type of person. I felt it was a nice contrast to OoT Link's more laid back personality. I've also had a few comments about people wanting to see Midna and Agatha in the story, so I'm glad I was able to use this opportunity to have them in the plot.
