Farewell, My Friend

Tommy grinned at Chuckie, glad that he wasn't mad anymore about his glasses being broken. What was the big deal, they were just glasses! "Good, cause today we're gonna go back to the big green box!"

"Go back?" Phil and Lil exclaimed.

"Uhhuh! We haveta find out what the Shadowman has in there. Chuckie, you're the biggest so you'll need to open the door-" He paused, seeing his friend not following. "Chuckie, let's go."

"I don't think I'm gonna go."

Tommy mentally sighed. Chuckie would refuse, he'd push him a bit, and Chuckie would give in. That's how it always worked. "Aw, come-"

"I'M NOT GOING!" Chuckie yelled, startling Tommy. "Every time I go on one of your little adventures I get hurt. I scrape my knee or break my glasses and this time… I prefer not to." He crossed his arms and turned his back on Tommy.

"But Chuckie if you don't open the door none of us can go," Tommy argued.

"Good!" Chuckie said, looking not at Tommy but Phil and Lil. "Yesterday Tommy left me to get hurt… what about today? You want the Shadowman to get you? Or for you to scrape your knee?"

"Nuh uh," Phil said, shaking his head.

"Me neither," Lil said, having never thought about herself being injured.

Tommy though didn't like how everyone wasn't going along with his idea. "Come on Chuckie, we always do stuff together. That's what friends are for."

"No," Chuckie said firmly, annoyed by how Tommy STILL though he could convince him to go on the adventure. "We don't do stuffs together. You tell us we have to do something and if we don't you make fun of us! You never want to do what I want to do!"

"But my adventures our fun," Tommy argued.

"Not for me!" Chuckie snapped. "And if being your friend means just doin' stuff I don't want to do and never doin' what I want to do then I don't want to be your friend no more!"

Phil and Lil gasped.

Tommy looked at Chuckie, anger brewing in his little body. "Well… good! First my mommy and daddy don't want me to go on adventures, and then my grandpa and Uncle Drew… and now you?" He stomped his foot. "You're supposed to be my friend! But if you are gonna stop me then I don't wanna be your friend neither! Come on Phil, come on Lil!" Tommy waddled over to the playpen, opening it and moving towards a chair to drag it to the door. Only… he noticed Phil and Lil not following. "Guys!"

"Sorry Tommy," Lil said.

"We don't want to get hurt either."

Tommy glowered at them. "Fine! You wanna act like little baby babies then fine!"

Didi chose that moment to enter, lifting up Tommy up to take him home. She was a bit surprised that Tommy wasn't waving goodbye to Chuckie but thought nothing of it even as Tommy glowered at his former friends.
