Chapter 4: Escape from London

Note: Sorry it took a little longer than I wanted, but this is when they get out of London. I also want to make sure Sweeney stays murderous and doesn't get completely whitewashed morally though he's still the protagonist of this story.

We walked for about another hour before we finally found a carriage. "Do you have any money Mr Todd?" "Of course I do Hope." Anthony sighed and nodded at me. I darted my eyes toward the carriage and began to fake how I was when I was still Benjamin. Me and the sailor walked to the carriage and I knocked on the door.

The door swung open and a man who could really use a shave was sitting in the driver's seat. "What can I do for you?" "My friend and I have someone to meet about two hours forward from here" Anthony answered. The driver turned to me and I nodded. "Can you pay the fee?" I gave him the money necessary and he let us inside.

"Thank you for the help sir" I said. He nodded and pulled the reins on his horses. They began to canter forward. "He'll help us Mr Todd, as he has a reason to hate the judge as well." "I can't even imagine how many enemies that animal has made," I told him. We spoke quite enough that we couldn't be heard.

I couldn't help but wonder about what horrors my daughter must be dealing with in that asylum. All I knew is if any of those patients or workers harmed her they would meet my blades. I also couldn't hope but worry about Lucy. But if I was to save them I must flee for now. Turpin, Bamford, and Lovett will die by my hands. "We'll be there soon" Anthony said after I daydreamed about ending their lives for a while.

After a while later Anthony asked the driver to stop. After we left the carriage the driver bid us good day and left. "Are you sure this man will help us?" "Trust me Mr Todd he will help us." Anthony knocked on the door of the small house. A short clean shaven man opened the door.

"Anthony Hope, long time no see." "It has been a few months hasn't it Mr Daniels." "What brings you here my friend?" "Can we come in Mr Daniels?" Daniels led us into his living room. "My name is Sweeney Todd," I told the man.

"I have crossed Turpin and need to escape London before I am found." "An enemy of his is a friend of mine," Mr Daniels said. "The bastard had my son sentenced to death for something he was innocent of." "He is an animal," I told him. "If only someone would put the man in his place." "I would be willing to help you Mr Todd."

As he was about to help us we heard a knock on the door. "Police business" we heard a voice boom through the door. "Go through the back," Daniels whispered to us. We did as we were told and heard him open the door. We both saw he had his own horse-drawn carriage. "We are looking for a fugitive and thought we would warn people he could be here.

If you see a man with a white streak through his hair, alert us immediately." We heard the door close and Daniel came to find us. He turned to me and gave me a map. "You'll have to go back and leave London from the other side, but this map will take you to a hidden cabin in the woods. You should be able to lay low there until things calm down a bit here. There are supplies to help you live there."

"Thank you so much sir" Anthony said happily. I nearly groaned at his enthusiasm. I thanked the man as well and I climbed into the driver's seat and Anthony climbed into the opposite. We looped around the house and started heading back realizing the sun was rising. We were up all night. "First thing we are doing once we get to that cabin is sleeping," Anthony said.

I had to admit he was right about that. After all, how would I plan to save my family without a decent sleep. Not like I slept a lot anyway. After we approached the center of London I saw her. We both locked eyes and I stopped the carriage. "Wait a moment Anthony," I said.

I climbed out and walked to Mrs Lovett. She narrowed her eyes at me as I approached. "You coward," she spat. "You're running away." "I can't do much to help my family if I am hung, can I my pet." "If you didn't kill my Toby, you wouldn't be in this mess Mr T."

I looked around and saw that no one was paying attention to us. "You hid my wife from me bitch." "She isn't herself Mr Todd, and she never will be." "I deserved to know Lovett." "I told you I hid it from you for your benefit." "And for you as well Lovett, and you know it."

"I used to love you," she said. "You don't hide things from people you claim to love." "Bastard" she growled. "I will kill you Mrs Lovett" I told her through gritted teeth. We both glared at each other. "I'll kill you first Barker, that I can guarantee."

"We'll see who walks over who's corpse when this is over" I said. "I guess this is war then Mr T." And with that I entered the driver's seat again and fled from London. After following the map for an hour, we arrived at a three person cabin. "So this is where we will live for now," said Anthony. Little did we know Turpin was planning as well.

Note: Next chapter they will get used to living in the woods, and plot how to save Johanna. It won't be too much longer and Johanna will be saved. And yes, Mr Daniels' son is supposed to be that boy we saw the judge sentence. And as I said in the last chapter, I will return to posting a chapter on Saturday or Sunday.
