A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 Chapter 5

As the days slowly pass by things conditions continue improving better and better for Harry and Bailey.

The famed and revered patriarch of the family Arthur Weasley soon returns from a busy nightshift of work at the Ministry of Magic. Similar to his wife Mr. Weasley is delighted by Harry's arrival, intrigue for Muggles and their way of life no secret, he quickly bombards Harry with questions that the latter does his best to answer. Even sneaking Bailey tidbits of food from his very own plate, endearing him to her almost instantly. Licking him enthusiastically in gratitude. An action that Mr. Weasley, Ginny, and his boys continue to oblige Bailey during the entire duration she and Harry are residing there for the remainder of the summer. Determined to fatten her up and give the puppies growing inside her proper nutrients.

Certainly helps that Bailey is delighted with all the tasty flavors.

The somber, twisted, and solemn atmosphere surrounding the duo has dissipated, officially no more.

Their circumstances are no longer such a severe liability with no risk of being mangled or a mess at the hands of the Dursleys. Safely away from their grueling brutal treatment that for reasons beyond understanding no one in the neighborhood even thought to consider questioning them about. No longer on the receiving end of their heartless, smug, and ruthless taunts.

It's such a major change for them that it almost becomes overwhelming to be in a caring and welcoming home filled with an abundance of unlimited warmth for a change.

Honestly, from a dog's point of view standpoint, staying with the Weasleys resembles living a dream come true for Bailey, not that she'd ever leave her boy to make it permanent.

Never.

No need for adaptation at all since the Weasleys are the ones to latch onto them under their onslaught of infinite kindness.

In retrospect, if Bailey had the misfortune to die in the Weasley home before summer's end then she'd be liable to die happy.

That's how much she is in love with the Burrow.

Bailey found Ginny raucous and delightful. That is when Harry isn't around to throw her into a shy and clumsy stupor, accidentally overturning and knocking into anything that isn't glued or nailed down. Ginny often takes her outside, they run around playing together. Bailey would never admit this to Harry even if she could talk but Ginny gives significantly better belly rubs that potentially rival his.

Soon enough, a week after their unannounced arrival, owls carrying the Hogwarts letters for Ginny, Ron, Harry, Fred, George, and Percy arrive at the Burrow. The one for Harry does create some exasperated amazement with Mr. Weasley deducting that Dumbledore must already know about his whereabouts somehow. Easily cuts out the middleman in the situation.

The whole lot of them will be traveling by Floo Powder to Diagon Alley a few days later to replenish and purchase new school supplies for the year. For the Floo Network all that has to be done is toss the Floo Powder into the fire and say exactly in a clear and strong voice exactly where they want to go otherwise the person using the fireplace might end up in any random place in the vicinity. They need to exit out the correct grate.

The twins first and all Harry has to do is copy how it is down word for word and movement for movement.

It's been decided that Bailey would travel with a more experienced rider for the first time given her pregnancy. No one wants her to get hurt by any missteps, big or small.

Harry has to step through into the emerald flames, doing as instructed.

Bailey and Mr. Weasley are the last to go.

The last thing Bailey sees of her boy is his face vanishing into the fire.

Mr. Weasley tucks Bailey underneath his arm in a secure manner, stepping into the fireplace after he scatters a pinch of Floo powder into the fire.

Bailey felt as though she were being sucked into a giant drain. She seems to be spinning very fast alongside Mr. Weasley. The roaring in her ears is deafening, almost feeling very sick. Bailey fails miserably in the struggle to keep her eyes open, not that she would ever really want to. She more than likely would've thrown up her breakfast if she had, the contents of her stomach already churning inside her.

By the end of it, Bailey would've fallen forward flat on her face if not for Mr. Weasley's care.

Stepping out of the fireplace Mr. Weasley gently sets Bailey down onto her feet, the red retriever stumbling from the dizzy spell that hits her. It takes a second or two to come to her senses.

The entire Weasley clan is in front of them inside the Leaky Cauldron.

The pub is bustling and full of activity just as it was last year when she was here with her boy.

And speaking of Harry…Where is he?

Harry isn't standing with the Weasleys or anywhere else in the crowded room. The stammering he did must've sent him through to the wrong grate just as they'd feared might happen.

This discovery sends Bailey into a frantic panic. Desperately wanting to sniff out her boy. When they step into Diagon Alley itself Bailey strives to do just that. Unfortunately, she can't catch his scent anywhere. He must be too far away from them for her to pinpoint a trail.

Then, once they reach Gringotts, the group hit a stroke of good luck.

Hagrid brings a ragged and soot-covered Harry to them at the front steps where they've converged with Hermione and her parents.

Bailey is beyond happy to see her boy safe and sound back with her. If Hagrid hadn't been standing behind him, he would've fallen down flat onto the pavement.

Harry informs them that he ended up coming out of a fireplace in a dark and shady shop called Borgin on Burkes down Knockturn Alley just off of Diagon Alley. While he was there he ended up seeing Draco Malfoy and his father Lucius Malfoy as the latter was there to discreetly sell some items in the most subtle way possible. Mr. Weasley is delighted to hear Lucius Malfoy is concerned enough to discard items with all the latest raids his department at the Ministry has been doing on private homes. It would really make his day to catch Lucius Malfoy at something which would leave him very satisfied. Turns out the two do not get along with each other at all.

Looks like the animosity between the parents has passed onto the children no question.

The large group head into Gringotts to get funds from the vaults. The conjoint ride to them is just as crazy as it was last time. Afterward the group split on the marble steps to acquire their supplies and have some fun at the same time. Ron, Harry, and Hermione looking to enjoy themselves immensely and catch up after weeks and weeks apart. The trio isn't disappointed in their exploits.

When Hermione learns Bailey is pregnant, she too surmises that Bailey probably conceived with Fang being the father of the pups.

Boy are they in for a surprise when the birth commences.

An hour later everyone reconvenes together at Flourish and Blotts.

At the bookshop, a large crowd has gathered inside and outside the doors to attend a book signing by a famed author making a public appearance.

Gilderoy Lockhart is the writer for a majority of the books the kids need to purchase for the school year.

Mrs. Weasley and Hermione are ecstatic, their shared excitement unquestionable.

Lockhart makes his entrance, flashing dazzling white teeth at the crowd in a charming flare that makes numerous ladies young and old swoon.

To Harry's displeasure, Lockhart spots Harry after Ron voices a disinterested comment about him. Bailey is unable to stop the author as he reaches into the crowd and pulls a quite unwilling Harry to stand beside him. Not appreciating this stranger manhandling her boy this way Bailey's ire is immediately earned. Stealthily, as Lockhart is distracted, preoccupied with addressing the masses that have formed to meet him personally, Bailey sneaks over unnoticed to stand beside the pair in front of the cameras posing for the Daily Prophet. During this Lockhart announces that he'll be taking the post of the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts when the new school term resumes, ranting and boasting about the widespread expertise that makes him suitable for the job.

That explains all the Gilderoy Lockhart books on the list.

Seriously? This is the only candidate Dumbledore could recruit to fill the open professorship.

Come on.

Really this arrogant egotistical airhead is so full of hot air that Bailey is shocked the amount hasn't taken him out of the shop yet.

Bailey knows the perfect thing to do to take him down a peg, taking advantage of this marvelous opportunity to handle this creep before he has a chance to remove crucial house points from them and teach this insufferable fool to keep away from her boys' personal space. Not accustomed to being the center of attention Harry doesn't want to endear being under the focus of so many people. A factor that Lockhart is blatantly ignoring for his own gain.

Timing it perfectly while the final picture is being snapped with Harry staggering under the books Lockhart just provided him with Bailey innocently lifts her leg and pees on the man's custom-made robes.

The ploy works wondrously.

Lockhart releases his tight grip on Harry and comically stumbles on his feet. The idiot's erratic footing sends him careening embarrassingly into a nearby display.

Laughter roars around them, the majority emerging from various men mutually tired of seeing their daughters and wives fawning profusely over him.

Message received.

It's up to Lockhart to decide how he decides to handle it from here.

Making his way over to Ginny, tipping the books into the caldron dangling on her arm, Harry said "You have these. I'll buy my own-."

"Bet you loved that, didn't you, Potter," said Draco Malfoy, disdainfully stomping down the steps leading to the second level, wearing his usual sneer. "Famous Harry Potter. Can't even go into a bookshop without making the front page."

Bailey perks up in pleasure.

Harry and the Weasleys may glare at him with contempt, but Bailey quite likes this boy to their continued confusion and disbelief.

Bailey meets him at the bottom step with a wagging tail, circling around and licking his hand in an excited greeting.

"Sod off," spat Draco, waving her away.

Not insulted by his dismissive behavior Bailey returns dutifully to Harry's side, tail thumping on the wooden floor and against his leg.

"Leave him alone, he didn't want all that," said Ginny, glowering heatedly at Malfoy in Harry's defense.

"Potter, you've got yourself a girlfriend," drawled Malfoy, jeeringly.

The commotion has drawn the eyes of others in their party.

"Oh, it's you," said Ron. "Bet you're surprised to see Harry here, eh?"

"Not as surprised as I am to see you in a shop, Weasley," reported Malfoy. "I suppose your parents will go hungry for a month to pay for all those."

Ron and Ginny's faces turn redder than their hair in response to the insult of their family's lifestyle and low finances compared to him.

Struggling over with Fred and George to intercede, Mr. Weasley said "Ron! What are you doing? It's mad in here, let's go outside."

"Well, well, well, Arthur Weasley."

Lucius Malfoy has entered the scene, standing with his hand on Drago's shoulder, sneering in just the same way.

In contrast to how Bailey feels about Draco, all she feels in response to Lucius Malfoy's arrival is apprehension, distrust, and wariness. Any intentions from this man are malicious and vindictive.

This man is conniving and dangerous.

"Lucius," said Mr. Weasley, nodding coldly.

"Busy time at the Ministry, I hear," said Mr. Malfoy. "All those raids…I hope they're paying you overtime?" He reaches uninvited into Ginny's cauldron and extracted a very old, very battered copy of A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration. "Obviously not. Dear me, what's the use of being a disgrace to the name of wizard if they don't even pay you well for it?"

Amazingly Mr. Weasley flushes darken than either Ron or Ginny.

"We have a very different idea of what disgraces the name of wizard, Malfoy," insisted Mr. Weasley, countering sharply.

Pale eyes straying to Mr. and Mrs. Granger near the back, Mr. Malfoy said "Clearly. The company you keep, Weasley…Associating with Muggles…and I thought your family could sink no lower-."

That tears it.

Mr. Weasley throws himself at Mr. Malfoy, sending Ginny's cauldron flying. Mr. Malfoy is knocked backward into a bookshelf. Dozens of heavy spellbooks came thundering down onto their heads.

Draco would've been in the direct line of fire had it not been for Bailey's quick thinking. Grabbing his robe hem in her teeth she forcefully tugs him out of where he's standing. If not for her he would've been hit in the head by the wave of books.

The crowd stampedes backward, tumbling even more shelves over.

Who knows how much longer the fight would've commenced if Hagrid hadn't stepped in to break up the brawl?

Hagrid separates the two, tearing them apart.

Mr. Weasley has a cut lip and Mr. Malfoy had been hit in the eye. He was still holding Ginny's old Transfiguration book.

Thrusting it at her, eyes glittering with malevolent spite, Mr. Malfoy said "Here, girl, take your book. It's the best your father can give you."

Mr. Malfoy beckons to Draco, sweeping from the shop.

Draco obeys, Bailey tracking him with forlorn eyes.

It was a subdued group that head back to the fireside in the Leaky Cauldron. Harry, Bailey, and the Weasleys would be traveling back to the Burrow using Floo powder.

Taking off his glasses, tucking them into his pocket so they don't break this time around, rubbing Bailey's head and neck, Harry said "What a day, huh, girl?"

Bailey woofed in agreement. With all this activity she's ready for a nice long nap.

Authors Note:

Should Bailey be on the train or in the car?

Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of days ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.

When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in someway. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.

Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.

Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads. But when it does I'm definitely pressing the report abuse button.

Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.

I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D

For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.

Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.

So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.

I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
