A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 Chapter 6

Not even being victims on the receiving end of the Malfoy's deliberate discourse, notorious animosity, resentment, and haughty scorn even after they withdrew could put a dampener on the mood to dishearten them at the Burrow for the summer holidays remainder.

For the rest of the month until the day they have to leave the Burrow for Kings Cross Station in London is literal heaven on earth. As they're all piled into the Ford Anglia with all their belongings Bailey didn't really want to leave.

Bailey's due date is imminent at this point. She's so bloated right now with the puppies moving around so much in her womb that no one can question that it'll happen soon. It may very well happen a day or two after she gets to Hogwarts. The sooner the better she is brought to a place where people are properly trained to help her through possible complications.

And they almost didn't with all the times they had to stop and turn back for numerous possessions members of the Weasley brood had forgotten. By the time they get to the station, the group is in a dreadful rush with it only being 15 minutes for the train to depart for Hogwarts. Upon reaching the barrier there are minutes left.

Looking nervously at the clock overhead, Mrs. Weasley said "Percy first."

Percy strode briskly forward and vanished. Mr. Weasley went next and Fred and George followed.

"I'll take Ginny and you two come right after us," said Mrs. Weasley, speaking directly to Harry and Ron, snatching Ginny's hand and setting off.

In the blink of an eye they were gone, too.

"Let's go together, we've only got a minute," said Ron To Harry.

Both of the boys bent low over the handles of their trolleys and walked purposefully toward the barrier at a steady speed.

A few feet away they broke into a run and instead of passing right through it they bounced backward in a crash.

Bailey's fortunate she'd been positioned on the side of the trolley and not behind it like Harry otherwise she could've gotten seriously hurt. Hedwig isn't so lucky. Her cage bounces onto the shiny marble floor and she rolls away, shrieking indignantly.

A nearby guard yelled, "What in blazes do you think you're doing?"

"Sorry. Lost control of the trolley," gasped Harry, clutching his aching ribs, and rushing to pick up Hedwig.

Looking wildly around as he resettles his belongings, Ron hissed "I don't know why we can't get through. We're going to miss the train. I don't understand why the gateway sealed itself somehow."

Bailey does. She's got a pretty good idea.

From off in a secluded corner Bailey catches a tiny familiar figure unnoticed by everyone else.

The house elf Dobby.

Why that little…

Immediately Bailey sets to barking aggressively in his direction, unable to get to him with Harry's hand firmly clasped on her harness handle.

"Bailey! Bailey, no," said Harry, sternly taking her in hand.

Dobby vanishes with a snap of his fingers, escaping retribution from Bailey.

Oh, that imp better hope he doesn't stray into her path anytime in the near future or he is toast for this mark her words.

Under baleful eyes monitoring them from the crowd, Ron and Harry try to figure out what their next step is. Ordinarily, Bailey would rather they simply stay put in one place for Mr. and Mrs. Weasley to find them waiting at the car since it's far too late to get on the train now. It's already left the station by now.

In the same frame of mind as Bailey, Harry mentions they should go wait by the car where they won't be drawing so much unwanted attention onto them.

That's when Ron thinks of it. They'll take the car to Hogwarts with him driving.

Bailey highly dislikes this inkling of Ron's. This is a very bad idea.

And with Ron taking up the driver's seat, Harry in the passenger, Bailey, Hedwig, and Scabbers in the back with all their luggage they take off into the air, using the Invisibility Booster to keep hidden. Much to their displeasure and perplexment the Invisibility Booster appears to be faulty, flickering in and out as they're rising in height. If this keeps up, they'd be seen by a Muggle. To rectify this Ron slammed his foot on the accelerator. They shot straight into the low, wooly clouds, making everything turn dull and foggy as they use this as makeshift substitute concealment in place of the Invisibility Booster. Not really that practical but it'll have to do. They soon pinpoint the train and follow its trail through the clouds and use the compass on the dashboard.

Ron and Harry enjoy the ride immensely, but Bailey spends the next several hours pressed into the seat to catch up on some sleep and stay as far away from the windows as possible.

At the end of the seventh hour, it is now dark and they've reached Hogwarts at long last. Silhouetted on the dark horizon, high on the cliff over the lake, stood the many turrets and towers of Hogwarts Castle.

But their obstacles aren't over yet. They still have to land on the castle grounds safely and the car doesn't seem like it can continue for much longer. A quick word from Ron explains why. The car has never traveled by air this far before. It's placed a huge inconvenient strain on its mechanical system. Ron does his utmost best to cajole and reassure the car more than Harry that it's almost to land and it can make the distance.

Harry found himself gripping the edges of his seat very hard as they flew toward the lake plummeting lower and lower in the air.

The castle was right ahead and Ron put his foot down to give a little more gas and a final push.

Big mistake.

There was a loud resounding clunk, and a splutter, and the engine died completely.

"Uh oh," said Ron. "No!"

Ron swings the steering wheel around to avoid multiple collision courses as they keep losing altitude with each passing second. Releasing the steering wheel completely Ron pulls his wand out of his back pocket hoping it'll do something.

"Stop! Stop," yelled Ron, whacking the wheel, dashboard, and windshield.

Resulting in the tip of his wand snapping off, hanging by a mere splinter.

Grabbing the gear shift to pull the car back up, Harry bellowed "Up! Mind that tree!"

It's too late, their efforts have proven futile.

The car collides and lands in the center of the thick branches. It then drops to the ground with a heavy jolt.

Unclipping his seatbelt to round on Bailey, running his hands over her body as he checks her over, Harry said "Bailey! Bailey, are you okay?"

Bailey whines.

No, she is most certainly not okay.

The stress built by the rough and rapid drop, the impact from hitting the tree, and then slamming onto the ground…She felt something give.

In a low, despairing groan, Ron said "My wand. Look at my wand."

"Be thankful it's not your neck," said Harry.

Suddenly something hits the side of the car with the force of a charging bull, sending him lurching sideways into Ron, just as an equally heavy blow hit the roof.

Terrified, Ron squeaked "What's happening?"

A branch as thick as a python smashed into the windshield. The three they had hit were attacking them. Its trunk was bent almost double and its gnarled boughs were pummeling every inch of the car it could reach. Another twisted limb punches a large dent into his door. Blow after blow hits the windshield and the roof. Vicious uppercuts from other branches are tossing them around everywhere.

This is doing nothing to help Bailey.

With each blow that jostles her, Bailey can feel even more wracks of pain hit her abdomen.

As much damage was being done there's one good thing that came from this.

The car had started up again.

"Reverse," yelled Harry.

The car shot backward, taking evasive maneuvers even as the tree was still trying to hit them. They could hear its roots creaking as it almost ripped itself up, lashing out at them as they sped out of range.

Grateful for the save, patting the dashboard in appreciation, Ron said "That was close. Well done, car."

The beating is the final straw for the car. It's reached the end of its tether, limits, and most important of all patience.

With two shark clunks the doors flew open. Harry and Ron are launched from the open sides, landing sprawled on the damp ground. Their luggage is unceremoniously ejected from the trunk. Hedwig's cage threw through the air and burst open. She rose out of it with an angry screech and sped off toward the castle owlery, sharing the car's sentiments. Ron barely manages to catch Scabbers in his own carrier cage. The car is surprisingly a bit gentler with Bailey, permitting her to step out on her own.

Then, dented, scratched, and steaming, the car rumbled off into the darkness of the Forbidden Forest, its rear lights blazing angrily.

"Come back," begged Ron. "Dad'll kill me!"

But the car disappeared from view into the woods with one last snort from its exhaust.

"Can you believe our luck? Of all the trees we could've hit, we had to get one that hits back," spat Ron, bitterly. "We're lucky to be alive, Harry. Harry?"

Harry's not paying attention to anything he's saying. He has much bigger concerns.

Bailey is lying flat on her side, whining and whimpering, paws trembling as a tremor passes through her stomach. Harry isn't daring to touch her stomach, palms lightly grazing the fur there.

Alarmed, wearily, eyes wide in a panic that shows how scared he is, Harry said "Bailey's going into labor!"

Authors Note:

I know some of you were suggesting that Bailey go on the train instead of the car with Harry, but after some careful thought and consideration I decided against it. Yes, I do admit it would be safer. My reason for this is that I thought that the stress of going through the car ride added to the Whomping Willows tantrum leaves Bailey unhurt it does induce her labor. That way by the end of the night she gives birth to her litter. Not a direction I originally wanted to take but it was the one that make sense to me.

Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of days ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.

When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in someway. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.

Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.

Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads. But when it does I'm definitely pressing the report abuse button.

Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.

Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.

So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.

I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
