Chapter 6: Breakout
Note: I cannot really tell if this chapter will be short or not. I want to get Johanna out of there and have Sweeney stress about things as well. I also want to see Turpin's reaction when he finds out she is gone lol. Let's start this chapter when the surviving officer that took Benjamin away from his family finds his friend dead before jumping back to current time.
It was several months ago, when we started chasing after Benjamin Barker. Me and my friend William separated at Judge Turpin's suggestion. "I'll see you soon Robert," he told me. Hours had passed since we started searching and I could find no signs of the barber. All of a sudden in my search I heard a horrible scream. I ran to the screaming woman and I saw it.
It was the body of an officer. As I walked closer to him I realized it was William. I dropped to my knees when the sight of the wound made me realized expired. That bloody barber killed my friend. I had to report what had happened, that my friend died at Barker's hand. I vowed I would bring him to justice.
(Currently.) Tonight was the night, the night I would break into the asylum and rescue my flower. I was looking at the picture of my family, specifically at my daughter in Lucy's arms. "I'm not sure we will ever be as we were, but I will hold my girl to me again. Anthony was eating alone as I lay in this bed, dreaming of my daughter, and being with my wife. The only way I knew to find her would be to wait near the pie emporium and hope she would show.
But the first thing I needed to do was save my girl. Yes there was much to do, but I must tackle it one at a time. I heard a knock on my door. "What is it Hope?" "It takes a while to get back to London, we need to go soon." I got off the bed and placed my portrait on it.
I checked my holsters to make sure my friends were secure. I opened the door to see the young sailor standing right in front of it. "For your sake this has better work boy" I snarled. "It has to Mr Todd, it must." He glanced downward. "Must you bring them?'
"No one will keep me from my Johanna, any who get in my way will be cut down without mercy." The sailor seemed reserved, but he accepted my terms. "First thing to do is get to Foggs." We both headed to the carriage and began our trip to the bastard's asylum. If Fogg or any of his orderlies had harmed her in any way they would answer to my blade. On our way Anthony gave me a hat to hide my hair, as people were on the lookout for a black haired man with a white stripe.
We arrived outside of the asylum by the road on the side. Anthony pointed to the laundry carrier and I nodded. I climbed inside and buried myself in the clothes. "They stopped checking the clothes as they trust me quite a bit now sir." "Stop wasting time, Hope." I could tell he began to push the carrier.
"Just bringing in the laundry." "Ok boy go right in." I felt the carrier move until an abrupt stop. I came out of the carrier as soon as the sailor told me I could. He tossed me an orderly uniform my size. "Don't worry Mr Todd, well lie and tell the orderly that you usually work during the day. The orderly working at night doesn't know the ones who work during the day so they won't notice."
I pulled the uniform over my overalls but made sure I could pull out my friends at a moment's notice if needed. "Let's head up the stairs, it's a few floors up." I nodded at him. Me and Anthony began a trek up the stairs. "Let's wait for a few minutes for the orderlies to thin out before going through this door." I agreed with the sailor and we fell silent and waited.
"She obviously can't stand you," said a light voice. "But she's not insane" said a deep voice. "And she is the best looking woman I've ever seen." "I know, that yellow hair," said the light voice." Those scum were talking about my daughter. I clenched my fist tightly as they practically drooled over her.
They talked about her in a way that rose bile. I thought my wife was beautiful and sexy, but only to her would I say such thoughts, and only as she said such things to me, about me when we were in our most passionate moments. Not to others as if she were an object to flaunt to them. After they left I swore under my breath. "We'll get her away from those pigs Mr Todd." I memorized those voices, for if I ever met them."
Anthony gulped as I whispered this to him. "Don't flaunt her to others like an object and we won't have a problem, Hope. And if you do, you will be sent to your grave." Anthony nodded nervously. "Those two orderlies are assistant orderlies my age," Anthony told me. We took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
"Down here Mr Todd." Once we reached the end of the hall there was a large cell with young women inside it. "Johanna it's me" the sailor whispered. I saw her as she approached my Johanna. She had yellow hair like her mother, she was thin, and I could tell she was pretty. I had missed her first sixteen years of life thanks to that bastard judge.
Her first word, her crawling, her walking, her calling me dad, and calling Lucy mum. That worthless animal stole it all from me. I would kill him, I would send that bastard to hell. It would be fitting to be sent by a demon. "Anthony" she whispered, "you've returned, and I presume it is with Mr Todd?" Anthony unlocked her cell door, then closed it behind her.
"Proper introductions later, we must make haste" I stated. We explained to the two orderlies as we passed them we were taking her to Fogg. They believed our lie and let us back on the stairs. "We'll have to hide you in the dirty clothes going out of the building to be washed" Anthony said. "Then let's get it over with," Johanna answered. Once we reached the ground floor, we hid my flower in the clothes and pushed it out.
Once we were in the unguarded front of the building, we helped Johanna out and removed the straitjacket from her. "Finally out of this thing." We walked to where our carriage was waiting. Me and Anthony got into the front of the carriage as she had to climb in the back. "We will take you back to our cabin tonight, and tomorrow there are things that need to be explained" I informed her. "Alright Mr Todd" she answered.
We had done It, my daughter was safe. Soon I would be able to hold my girl to me. (Turpin's POV switch.) I woke up early in the morning still thinking about what to do with my Benjamin Barker situation. "There is someone to see you, my lord" a maid told me through my door. I told her to have him come to my room.
Mr Fogg came in worriedly. "Mr Fogg, what brings you here?" "Johanna is gone, she's escaped." "WHAT!" I glared at the man seething in rage. "She is gone, we looked all over" Fogg said, quivering under my glare."
"We better find her Fogg, or I will have you hanged." He nodded to me and fled the room. "BENJAMIN BARKER!" I collapsed into my bed breathing heavily. "I will find Johanna, she will marry me, and I will have Barker hung this time." War between me and Barker has begun.
Note: so next chapter Robert will meet Mrs Lovett, and Sweeney will tell Johanna what she needs to know. As for what Robert and Lovett will have happen between them well, you'll see. Don't worry Lucy will be in the plot again soon too. There will be some one sided Sweeney/Lucy for a while soon too. Swucy, Luceeney
