Chapter 9: Lovers together
Note: This chapter will be mainly fluff with a little drama. Johanna and Anthony will get focus first, Then Sweeney with Lucy will get some focus with some drama coming from her not really remembering him and how she is living, and Johanna torn between leaving with Anthony someday and getting to know her father. Johanna and Anthony will make out a little but It won't lead to anything.
It had been hours since my father left to look for my mother. I paced in the living room nervously as I waited. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see Anthony giving me a sympathetic look. I removed his hand from my shoulder and held it tightly. "I'm sure he's ok"
"I know" I responded "He said not to worry unless he's not here by tomorrow night." I sighed and sat back down on the couch. Anthony sat beside me and grabbed my hand again. He gently rubbed his thumb on the back of it. "That isn't the only thing that is bothering you, is it my love?" "I just met my father Anthony, and yet I also want to leave this all behind and start a life with my sweetheart."
Anthony pulled my head to his chest and I melted into him. "Well we have a while to think about where we want to go" he reasoned, "that gives us a lot of time for you to get to know him." "I'm glad they let you take a few nights off Anthony. If I was on my own tonight I don't know what I'd do, It's been three months and there is still so much about my dad I don't know." "What is it you want to know.?" "He still hasn't told me how he and mum met, and I still don't know what the courting was like, only their married life."
Anthony nodded and kissed my hand. I lifted off him and pulled him up with me so we were standing again. "You know how I feel about you Johanna, you decide when you are ready to leave." I held his face in my hand and he melted into it. "Will you be my first kiss Anthony?" We both leaned forward and pressed our lips together gently.
"I was hoping for a little more," I said grinning. We leaned in again, and really kissed. I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck. Meanwhile he gripped my hair in his hands as I gave his tongue access. We sat back on the couch and after a while broke apart to breathe. "Thank you Anthony, that was amazing."
"Can we, could we do it again sometime?" he asked, turning red. "We will do it a lot of times," I said. Anthony placed his hand on my face after I answered. "You were my first kiss too Johanna, I never met a girl I wanted to kiss until you." "Then I'm glad I was the first to kiss such a kind handsome man." "And I was the first one to kiss such a kind beautiful woman."
(Sweeney Todd's POV.) "Do I know you sir?" I had figured she wouldn't know who I was. "You probably can't remember me" I told her "but yes, you knew me, and I knew you." "That's nice," Lucy said smiling. "Does the name Benjamin mean anything to you?" I asked her hopefully. "It sounds familiar, but I don't really remember.
I know the name though. A sad smile crossed her face. "I'm really sorry sir." It hurt but I understood that her mind was no longer the same. I wasn't even sure I could help her, but I could finish that extra room and give her a place to live and get her off the streets. "Do you have any alms?" she asked me.
I nodded and gave her some money I had. "Thank you kind sir." "Can you do a favor for me?" I asked her. "You aren't going to force me to serve you are you?" I clenched my fist tightly realizing what some men made her do to have money for food. "I promise I would never ask that of you."
You can call me Sweeney Todd." "Like I said they call me Lucy, but I can't remember what my last name is." "Anyway I was wondering if you would like to take a walk with me?" I wasn't even sure if she would agree. "Please don't make fun of me" she said sadly "no one wants to associate with me." It hurt to see my Lucy so miserable, hurt, dirty, and unhappy.
No she may have lost a lot of her beauty but I didn't care. She was here, alive, still breathing, and that was all that mattered. I walked over to her slowly. "Please Lucy, I am not making fun of you, I want to walk with you." She looked at me like I had a second head. "Most people just avoid or insult me, I would love to just walk with someone.
Thank you Mr Todd." "Please, call me Sweeney." My clothes and hat kept me nice and hidden, so in the dark no one would recognise me. "People usually are cruel to me," she said as we walked. "The world is a cold, cruel place" I told her. "Not everyone is bad, Sweeney."
"True, you and Johanna aren't," I said. "So you know about her too. Poor girl, she is the ward of Judge Turpin." "Not anymore, she is with me now" I informed her. "She was sent to bedlam for refusing the hand of the judge. My friend and I freed her and took her away from that bastard.
Now she lives at my cabin with us." She looked at me surprised by what I said. "Then you need to be careful sir, the judge is still trying to find them and sentence them to death." Let that bastard find me, I will have my vengeance. "I will Lucy." "I think I know why you look familiar to me."
I turned to her hoping for her answer. "You were at the pie emporium." "Yes I was," I told her deflating. "The baker is the devil's wife, she has no pity in her heart, she is evil." A crazy look passed Lucy's eyes as she said this. "That is why I left that bitch" I said coldly.
"If I may ask, why do you hate her?" Lucy looked down at the ground as we walked. "I don't remember much but She sent me to bedlam." She sent Lucy to bedlam, she sent my wife, my life, to bedlam. For that Lovett, I will kill you. Turpin forced himself on her driving her to suicide, and Lovett sent her to that vile Fogg.
As much as I hate you Turpin I'm glad you had that bastard hung. If I find any of those orderlies touched Lucy I would hunt them down and kill them. "It was a horrid place, they treated everyone, men and women, horribly. If you didn't obey the workers right away they would hurt you. "Did they ever hurt you Lucy?" "I, I don't want to talk about it" she said sadly.
"Please tell me, I promise I will keep it a secret. Lucy began to breathe heavily, a crazed look in her eyes. "Of course they did," she said, her eye's watering. "I have scars from where they hit me, they even cracked my ribs once." I wiped her tears with my hand. "Thank you sir" she told me.
After a while we came to an alley next to an old building. I felt bile fill my throat as I saw an old box with a ratty blanket inside. "I think I'm going to go to sleep, Sweeney." She climbed into the box and laid back in it, pulling the blanket over her. "I will see you again sometime" I promised her. She smiled as I said that.
"Don't go near Lovett anymore, she might try to hurt you again. Lucy nodded before closing her eye's. I will get you out of this place soon my angel. It was time to head home for the night, but I detoured to the asylum. I can't just rush in and start killing people, as I could get caught. But if I waited near the alleys maybe I could get lucky and pick a few orderlies off as they change shifts.
Note: Next chapter will have a time skip inside of it at some point to the extra room being finished so the plot can move forward. Sweeney is obviously going to quench some of his blood lust in the next chapter. Hopefully he doesn't find Anthony and Johanna making out. Sorry about having Lovett sending her to bedlam, It would explain why Lucy hates her so much.
