A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 Chapter 11

On Saturday morning Harry is awoken early by Gryffindor Quidditch Captain Wood at dawn to be dragged down to the Quidditch Pitch with the rest of the team for the first practice of the year. Harry would've opted to remain in bed and sleep for a couple more hours, but Wood is persistent. That's what comes with being obsessed with the game down to the bone.

So, Harry reluctantly rises out of bed. Instead of taking Bailey and the puppies down to the arena with him, he decides to have the large family stay behind in Gryffindor Tower. It's not such a good idea for such tiny and vulnerable babies to be exposed to the dangers the game represents. Particularly the Bludgers that can easily kill a puppy with one hit. Harry will be good without Bailey accompanying him for a brief time and it isn't as if this is going to be forever. It's just until the puppies are big enough to take care of themselves.

A nice comfortable nest was made for Bailey and the puppies in front of the fireplace.

This way Harry didn't have to worry, and the puppies can steadily become more receptive to basic human contact.

Because it's the weekend Bailey doesn't have to be concerned about a crowd at this hour. As time slowly goes by a majority of the Gryffindors stay asleep in their beds with a few rousing.

After their morning feed suckling at her belly Bailey's sons and daughters settle down for their mid-morning nap in what can only be viewed as the cutest pile of puppy, all snuggled together.

Well, 6 of them at the very least.

Bold wouldn't hear of falling asleep. Not when there's a whole world to explore in his paw steps. While napping the day away may suit his six siblings, Bold is ready for action. But when your eyes are barely open, and you're hardly up on your feet, the options for action are limited. So, Bold starts by trying to rouse his sleepy siblings. With a tiny bark that's more like a squeak, he can't seem to get the ball rolling.

Turns out he won't have to. His mother isn't going to allow this scheme of his to get that far. Bailey intends to get plenty of sleep during the nights and having the puppy's sleeping schedule disrupted by one troublemaking and disobedient puppy is not going to get in the way of that.

Bailey barks, releasing a light growl and aiming a reproachful look in admonishment at her son. Bold sheepishly hunkers down with his siblings, thoroughly scolded and subdued. Bailey then settles beside the puppy pile to get a tad more shut eye.

No sooner does Bailey's eyes shut that Bold's snap back open. He then sets off to explore around the room on his stumpy legs. Surprisingly, one of the female pups Dreamer decides to follow her brother. Not an easy feat when you can barely see. It isn't long before the duo takes a wrong turn. Bold leads them into mischief as the pair end up stuck underneath an armchair.

Luckily, Dreamer and Bold have got a red retriever for a mom. Bailey instantly comes to their rescue, being awoken by Dreamer's frantic cries. Bailey nudges each of them out from underneath the armchair and carries them individually over to the blanket. Bailey thinks her two wayward pups have seen enough action for this morning.

Here Bailey keeps them underneath her paw and close at hand until her boy and his friends arrive at the Common Room.

Strange enough Ron is vomiting slugs.

Gross.

Bailey makes sure Ron doesn't come close to her litter lest he throws up on them.

It's while the three of them are in Gryffindor Tower that Professor McGonagall arrives, cornering the boys to inform them how they're going to be spending the detentions they'd earned from the flying car fiasco.

Ron and Harry will be undergoing separate punishments that very evening. Ron will be polishing silver in the trophy room under Argus Filch's supervision, much to Ron's abject horror. And Harry is paired with Lockhart, assisting the man with his fan mail.

Bailey can't decide which of them has it worse. It's a very close shave.

As if spending hours of class time and making the grand effort to avoid Lockhart isn't enough of a hardship, now they have this to contend with.

Unfortunately, Lockhart had personally requested the assignment.

Bailey believes her boy would most rather spend the detention with Snape and that's seriously saying something.

Bailey is left with no other alternative but to tolerate Lockhart's irritating antics for this one night.

This is why Bailey currently finds herself laid out underneath the table the two are using for the fan mail and her puppies playing in their basket beside her. She is disgusted with how much fan mail there actually is to answer for this buffoon. She can hardly believe that so many people out there are blind to Lockhart's faults and how fake he is to the masses at large.

If Bailey could talk, she'd endlessly criticize him openly as punishment.

Probably no coincidence that Lockhart chose to sit as far away from her as possible without having to admit he was scared of her. Far too proud. Turns out that is in Bailey's favor.

The minutes sail by bit by bit. The candles burn lower and lower as Bailey does all she can to ignore Lockhart's ceaseless ramblings.

Then, when it's nearly time to leave for freedom Bailey hears it.

A voice so cold and chilling that Bailey immediately is on the alert, hair standing up all over her neck and back in response.

"Come…come to me…Let me rip you…Let me tear you…Let me kill you…"

Bailey jumps into action. Moving to completely stand over her children as they huddle together into a tight ball, squealing and whimpering in terror. Bailey growls and snarls in warning at the voice.

Harry's timely reaction makes it abundantly clear he's heard it as well. Her boy gave a huge jump in his seat and a large lilac blot appeared on the parchment sheet he was working on.

"What," he exclaimed, loudly.

"I know," said Lockhart. "Six solid months at the top of the best-seller list! Broke all records!"

"No. That voice," said Harry, eyes huge behind his glasses.

In puzzlement, Lockhart said "Sorry? What voice?"

Nervously stammering, Harry said "That…that voice said that…didn't you hear it?"

Shaking his head, staring at Harry in high astonishment, Lockhart said "What are you talking about, Harry? Perhaps you're getting a little drowsy? Great Scott! Look at the time! We've been here nearly four hours! I'd never have believed it. The time's flown, hasn't it?"

Harry didn't answer.

From her position, Bailey strains her ears to hear the voice again, but there is no sound except for Lockhart. Whatever that thing was it is moving farther and farther away.

The greater the distance the better in Bailey's opinion.

Lockhart simply assumes that Bailey was aiming her aggressive and protective growls at him, but Harry knows differently. He's perfectly aware that this is the complete opposite of her behavior when it pertains to Lockhart.

It's almost midnight. Lockhart dismisses Harry and he takes the dogs to safety in Gryffindor Tower. Ron is one of the few still awake at this hour since he was out late for detention, too. Harry wastes no time informing his best friend about what went down in Lockhart's office.

Frowning, Ron asked "And Lockhart said he couldn't hear it?"

Harry shakes his head.

Perplexed, Ron said "Do you think he was lying? But I don't get it. Even someone invisible would've had to open the door."

Lying back on his four-poster and staring at the canopy above him, exhausted, Harry said "I know. I don't get it either."

The dogs had heard the same malicious and malevolent voice belonging to a negative entity in the walls. That's the only explanation for how Bailey is acting at present. Normally she's fine sleeping with her puppies on the floor, but she is spooked. She carries her sons and daughters onto the bed and curls around them with Harry boxing them in on the other side.

The puppies are still trembling from fear, terrified by what they caught.

That's when Harry concluded he wasn't imagining things. He really did hear a voice just now. A voice that only he, Bailey, and her babies could hear, not Lockhart.

Couldn't be any of the ghosts. Didn't resemble any of their individual voices at all. Not even the Bloody Barons. And not even the poltergeist Peeves would stoop so low.

Just what the devil was it and why did it sound like it's out for blood?

Authors Note:

Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of days ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.

When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in some way. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.

Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.

Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.

Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.

I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D

For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.

Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.

So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.

I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
