A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 Chapter 14
Over the next few days all the Hogwarts student body can really talk about is what happened to Mrs. Norris and the message on the wall talking about this Chamber of Secrets. When Hermione had gone to the library to do research on it, she discovered that all the history books that could possibly have information on the subject were taken out. Almost everyone is going nuts about it. Finally, Hermione resorted to questioning Professor Binns about it in History of Magic. Professor Binns gives them a refresher history of the 4 founders, particularly Salazar Slytherin. He is the one who built a hidden chamber in the castle that the other three could never seem to locate. Slytherin had sealed the chamber of Secrets so none would be able to open it until his own true heir arrived at the school. The heir alone would be able to unseal the Chamber of Secrets, unleash the monster within, and use it to purge the school of all who were unworthy to study magic.
The information provided was welcome, but it garners an unwelcome outcome. Rumors spread quickly at Hogwarts and at the head is one that Harry is Slytherin's heir.
One Bailey is not happy about.
Bailey has been able to sense her boy's unease and worry for days. She's done her absolute best to comfort and take his mind off it, but her efforts have little effect if any. It certainly doesn't help that people that were friendly to him before the event now turn tail and head in the other direction whenever he gets close to them.
The one consolation Bailey can get from all this ruckus is that initial suspicion is drawn away from her puppies and onto something else entirely.
Theirs is one thing odd that Bailey discovered when the group was investigating the scene around the deserted corridor where the message still stood. She is the first to spot it. A string line of twenty spiders is seen scuttling to get through a small crack in a neighboring window. Hermione finds the site very peculiar. Spiders have never been known to do something like that before. Even she doesn't have any answers for that.
They check Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, but nothing is there either. Not long afterward they are promptly chased away by Percy.
Talk returned about the identity of Slytherin's heir, and it brought Harry's mood right back down. Yes, they suspect it's Draco Malfoy instead of him, but it doesn't completely vanish the underlying concern in his heart. Truthfully the only thing that appears to get a genuine smile out of him these days is spending time with the puppies. Even the little ones seem to get a read on Harry's depressed mood.
So, after Lockhart's class, when Harry comes to pick her up and spend time with her children, they decide to do something about it to cheer him up. Harry came alone. Ron and Hermione had gone straight to the library after class to take out an advanced potions book, they needed a teacher's permission form. Bailey recalls they'd spoken about it the night before. Something about containing a Polyjuice Potion that could help them learn more about Slytherin's heir.
As Harry waits for word on whether his friends are successful in acquiring it the puppies make their move.
While Harry is preoccupied with Charmer and Whisper snuggled in his lap Friendly makes the first move. Practicing his stalking, the clever pup sneaks up behind Harry with barely a sound. Then when he's within half a foot away from the target he pounces. Harry is unable to react in time to avoid the hit as Friendly slams into his side. Harry is knocked to the ground and is bombarded by the swarm, including the girls. Their job had been to distract Harry and the ploy worked.
Bailey watches in amusement and a gigantic smile on her face as the children ambush Harry, licking and nuzzling every part of him they could reach. It's too much for Harry. He laughs and squirms, trying to get away, but the puppies are relentless. Bailey would be surprised if there's even a speck of dirt on Harry's face when this is over and done with.
Bold then instigates a game of keep away, stealing Harry's book bag and running around the pen with it. The others join in, passing the bag along to each other whenever Harry comes close to reclaiming the item.
By the time Hermione and Ron meet him down at Hagrid's he and the puppies are panting in exhaustion inside the straw and her boy is wearing an enormous grin.
Sitting up eagerly upon spotting them, Harry asked "Did you get it?"
Nodding, pulling out the book from her own bag, Hermione said "Yeah."
"Almost didn't. Hermione came close to not handing over the permission slip. Wanted to keep Lockhart's signature for a keepsake," said Ron, disgusted.
If Bailey could smack a paw over her face she would've.
Hermione sticks her tongue out at Ron in retaliation.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione settle in a circle with the puppies converging in around them. Bailey makes up her mind to clean them one by one since they're dirty from all that play.
Scanning the recipe for the Polyjuice Potion, running a finger down the line of ingredients, Hermione said "This is the most complicated potion I've ever seen. Lacewing flies, leeches, fluxweed, and knotgrass. Well, they're easy enough to get, they're in the student store cupboard, we can help ourselves…Oh, look, powdered horn of a bicorn, don't know where we're going to get that. Shredded skin of boomslang, that'll be tricky, too, and of course a bit of whoever we want to change into."
Balking sharply, Ron said "What do you mean, a bit of whoever we're changing into? I'm drinking nothing with Crabbe's toenails in it."
Continuing as though she hadn't heard him, Hermione said "We don't have to worry about that yet, though, because we add those bits last…"
Ron gags.
Coming to an unsettling realization, Harry said "Do you realize how much we're going to have to steal, Hermione? Shredded skin of a boomslang, that's definitely not in the student's cupboard. What are we going to do, break into Snape's private stores? I don't know if this is a good idea…"
Shutting the book with a snap in irritation. Hermione said "Well, if you two are going to chicken out, fine. I don't want to break the rules, you know. I think threatening Muggle-borns is far worse than brewing up a difficult potion. But if you don't want to find out if it's Malfoy, I'll go straight to Madam Pince now and hand the book back in."
"I never thought I'd see the day when you'd be persuading us to break rules," said Ron in bewildered astonishment. "All right, we'll do it. But not toenails, okay?"
"How long will it take to make, anyway," said Harry.
Opening the book again to check, Hermione said "Well, since the fluxweed has got to be picked at the full moon and the lacewings have got to be stewed for twenty-one days…I'd say it'd be ready in about a month if we can get all the ingredients."
"A month," said Ron, exasperated. "Malfoy could have attacked half the Muggle-borns in the school by then!"
"I know, but it's the only plan we've got," said Hermione.
Looks like it's on.
Bailey is almost done with her children's baths. She is currently finishing up with Whisper. Whisper enjoys a good bath and stays perfectly still. Bold wants to get back to playing and knows that won't happen until the bath session is finished. He tries to entice Whisper to leave their mother, but she ends up snapping at him in anger. So, Bold concocts a plan. He sneaks over to a large rock that was placed inside their enclosure for climbing. He crouches on the top, keeping a close eye on where everyone is. As soon as he sees his opportunity he pounces into a dirt pile, sending specks of dirt everywhere in a cloud and making the family all filthy again.
Great, just great. Now Bailey is going to have to give them all baths again.
And Harry one to herself.
Joy.
Authors Note:
Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of days ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.
When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in some way. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.
Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.
Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.
Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.
I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.
So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.
I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
