A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 Chapter 15

Quidditch can always make Harry feel better no matter what mood he's in. Something that Bailey is extremely grateful for, but the first game of the season, especially when up against the Slytherins on Saturday in that same week can make anyone's stomach curdle with nerves.

The puppies won't be seeing the match although they had plenty of time to attend some of the practices once they became fully able to walk around easily on their own. They're big enough now that Bailey's not too worried about them getting hurt during practice. Fred and George would never allow a Bludger to get within 100 feet of her little ones.

They'd roll, tumble, play around, and chase each other on the ground level as Oliver Wood leads the Gryffindor Team through their many energy draining drills. Oliver Wood is a real taskmaster. He really wants them to do all they can to win the Quidditch Cup this ongoing year.

At times the fun could be taken out of it, but the puppies somehow knew how to bring it right back in.

In one instance when one of the Weasley twins had knocked the Quaffle out of Alicia's grip that's where the fun begins.

Here some of the puppies see an opportunity.

To Bailey's surprise, it's Ranger that takes the plunge. Ranger, one of the more quiet, reserved, and serious of her brood, turns out to be the instigator. Looks like he's temporarily replacing Bold as the insufferable one in the family. Ranger pounces on the Quaffle, digging his teeth into the ball and running around on the grass with his brothers in hot pursuit. A sufficient challenge with their short legs in comparison with how big the Quaffle is in size and marvelous enrichment.

Whisper and Charmer choose not to take part, casually turning their noses up at this undignified behavior. It makes Bailey grin to see them try to act so grown up, all prim and proper, when she's seen them before her very eyes act crazy with too much energy to expend. And Dreamer simply sits there with the usual faraway look in her eye, lying on her back, against Bailey's side and staring at the clouds. But that attitude of Dreamers changes when the Snitch flies within range of her nose. Yipping excitedly Dreamer tries to catch the Snitch by herself, thinking it to be a new toy at her disposal to play with. May as well be with how the Snitch continues to tease Bailey's youngest girl relentlessly. It's amusing to watch. Bailey really enjoys watching her puppies really let loose and have fun being themselves without any inhibitions. Bailey nuzzles and nudges Whisper and Charmer to goad them into wrestling with her. The ploy works. The two girls act their age instead of trying to be like big grownup dogs.

Instead of getting all angry and disgruntled at the spectacle created with all these distractions Oliver Wood wizens up and chooses to improvise. He turns this into agility and evasive maneuvering training close to the ground, mixing fun and work all into one.

Everyone ends up having a blast and the puppies are welcome to come to practice at any time. Bailey takes great pleasure from this result, seeing this as more time to spend with babies outside their pen without unwanted interference. They're free to be themselves without the risk of incidents.

But the puppies absolutely cannot take part in the games. Too much craziness in the hustle and bustle that usually goes on from unavoidable mayhem.

Also, there's no room in the stands for them. With how active they are Bailey's sons and daughters will easily get lost in the crowd.

Bailey is in her normal spot with Hermione and Ron in the stands, patiently waiting for the game to end in order to rejoin her boy.

But as the game goes on Bailey isn't the only one to notice something is incredibly off. One of the two Bludgers is focused deadest on Harry, not pursuing anyone else. Each time it's hit the Bludger constantly redirects itself to go after Harry. No matter what Harry does he can't seem to shake it off. This is more than problematic, it's deadly.

This rogue Bludger is making things ever more difficult for Harry as the Seeker, but does he let this stop him?

Nope.

Even when Malfoy joins the chase with him for the Snitch, he doesn't lose focus. Bailey's heart nearly jumps out of her chest when she loses sight of them for nearly half a minute when the chase momentarily takes them out of sight underneath the arena. They surface and Malfoy is seen flailing through the air, launched from his broom and lands in a devasting split. Malfoy lays there stunned and in clear pain, leaving Harry open to take the Snitch.

Harry does so, but not without sustaining serious damage. The first time he reaches for it the tampered Bludger slams into his arm, breaking it instantly at the elbow. Harry is forced to carefully balance on the broom, keeping it steady with his legs, grabbing the Snitch with the other. The broom plummets straight for the ground with no one to properly steer it. With a splattering thud, he hits the mud and rolls off his broom. Bailey runs faster than she ever has in her entire life onto that field. He only just comes to a stop by the time she exits the stands and onto the field. Her boy is obviously riddled with pain, clutching his arm. She snatches up a Beaters bat and stands over her boy as he lays there on his back, unable to fly away on his broom. The handle in her mouth Bailey gets into position and the next time the Bludger comes in for the kill she swings her head and hits the bat into the troublesome thing, copying what she's seen Fred and George do.

For a second astonished and delighted cheers erupt from the crowd from this display and then are immediately replaced by screams as the Bludger comes in for another go.

This time Fred and George intercept. They succeed in knocking the irritating thing away, restrain it, and wrestle it into the trunk. It's not getting out of them anytime soon.

An enormous crowd rushes down from the stands to check on Harry. At the head is the imbecile Lockhart. Inside the fool's tiny brain, he seems to think that he can mend Harry's arm. Harry repeatedly protests, but Lockhart disregards Harry's refusal. He's intent on showing off his nonexistent skills. Bailey can deduce this by the manic and eager gleam in his eyes is anything to go by.

Like hell.

Lockhart isn't even done taking out his wand before Bailey is on him. No sooner does he make the attempt that Bailey has the man flat on his back, barking furiously in his face.

Hermione and Ron then use this opening to sneak Harry away. Right when she sees her boy at a safe distance Bailey climbs off Lockhart to follow.

Bailey doesn't miss the opportunity to kick dirt in Lockhart's face first, leaving the man floundering in the humiliation where the male populace finds it humorous.

In the Hospital Wing, Madam Pomfrey has good news and bad news to deliver to them. The good news is that she'll be able to easily heal the arm and he'll just have to spend one single night in the Hospital Wing. The bad news is that while most of the bones in his arms are intact a small handful got crushed to dust from the Bludger, so a gruesome potion is required to regrow the bones.

Skele-Gro.

This complicated potion will get the job done except for the pain that emerges from the process.

Another downside is the sheer taste is beyond deplorable.

Just sniffing the liquid brings such a burning sensation to her nose. Bailey can't understand how her boy manages to chug it all down.

Still, it is necessary.

Soon Ron, Hermione, and the Gryffindor team are thrown out by Madam Pomphrey so Harry can get some rest. Bailey is permitted to stay to keep Harry company and at ease.

The two fall into a deep sleep.

One Bailey is rudely awoken when a startled shout from Harry touches her eyes.

Snapping awake, blinking the bleariness from her eyes, Bailey raises her hackles when she both spots and identifies the person intruding on their space.

Dobby.

The house elf is standing at Harry's bedside, sponging his forehead.

Bailey bares her teeth, barking at Dobby to go away.

Wrapping a hand around her muzzle, casting an anxious glance at Madam Pomfrey's room, Harry said "Bailey, hush."

Bailey growls, begrudgingly obeying the command.

Tearfully miserable, wringing the sponge in his bandaged hands, Dobby said "Harry Potter came back to school. Dobby warned and warned Harry Potter. Ah sir, why didn't you heed Dobby? Why didn't Harry Potter go back home when he missed the train?"

"What are you doing here? And how did you know I missed the train," demanded Harry, freezing. "It was you! You stopped the barrier from letting us through! You're the reason Bailey was going crazy at the gateway! She saw you!"

Bailey huffs in annoyance. She did try to tell him.

Nodding his head vigorously, Dobby confesses "Indeed yes, sir. Dobby hid and watched for Harry Potter and sealed the gateway and Dobby had to iron his hands afterward. Dobby didn't care, sir, for he thought Harry Potter was safe, and never did Dobby dream that Harry Potter would get to school another way!" Dobby's obvious distress on the matter is evident in the way he's rocking backward and forward, shaking his ugly head. "Dobby was so shocked when he heard Harry Potter was back at Hogwarts. He let his master's dinner burn! Such a flogging Dobby never had, sir."

Slumping back against his pillows, fiercely, Harry spat "You nearly got Ron and me expelled! You'd better get lost before my bones come back, Dobby, or I might strangle you. That is if Bailey doesn't get you before I do."

Bailey woofed in confirmation.

"Dobby is used to death threats, sir. Dobby gets them five times a day at home," said Dobby, smiling weakly, blowing his nose in a corner of the filthy pillowcase she is wearing.

Wrinkling his nose in disgust, Harry said "Why do you wear that thing, Dobby?"

Plucking at the pillowcase, Dobby said "This, sir? This is a mark of the house elf's enslavement, sir. Dobby can only be freed if his masters present him with clothes, sir. The family is careful not to pass Dobby even a sock, sir, for then he would be free to leave their house forever."

Okay, Bailey will admit she does feel kind of bad for the cretin.

"Harry Potter must go home," exclaimed Dobby. "Dobby thought his Bludger would be enough to make-."

And just like that any sympathy Bailey has for Dobby vanishes.

Anger rising once more, Harry said "Your Bludger? What do you mean, your Bludger? You make that Bludger try and kill me?"

"Not kill you, sir, never kill you," insisted Dobby, shocked. "Dobby wants to save Harry Potter's life! Better sent home, grievously injured, than remain here, sir! Dobby only wanted Harry Potter hurt enough to be sent home!"

Angrily bitter on the subject, Harry said "Oh, is that all? I don't suppose you're going to tell me why you wanted me sent home in pieces?"

Dobby then goes on to tell how Harry Potter is revered by the house elves. And how Harry defeated Voldemort when he was just a baby. And how it gave the house elves hope. It's because of this admiration and that infinite hope that Dobby set out to protect him at great risk to his own life. That's because he learned of a plot to bring terrible things to Hogwarts that will cost lives with the Chamber of Secrets open once more with history repeating itself.

Dobby punishes himself severely at this slip up. Dobby hits himself harshly in the head repeatedly as beratement.

"So there is a Chamber of Secrets," breathed Harry. "Did you say it's been opened before? Tell me, Dobby! But I'm not Muggle-born. How can I be in danger from the Chamber?"

Dobby begs and pleads with Harry not to pursue this anymore. Just to leave Hogwarts as soon as possible while he still can. Harry won't hear of it. He's undaunted, pressing Dobby for more answers.

Unfortunately, Harry will never get them.

Hasty footsteps are approaching down the passageway outside leading into the Hospital Wing, causing all three of them to freeze.

They're about to have company.

Dobby apparates out of there with a loud crack.

Harry slumps back into bed, pulling the covers back over his body, Bailey lying down and placing her head over his legs. Harry pretends to be asleep, and Bailey keeps her eyes open watching the doors.

Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall appear to be carefully carrying something. Depositing it carefully onto an empty bed Professor McGonagall retrieves Madam Pomfrey.

Bending over the statue on the bed to analyze it, Madam Pomfrey whispered "What happened?"

"Another attack. Minerva found him on the stairs," said Dumbledore, grimly.

"There was a bunch of grapes and a plate of chicken next to him. We think he was trying to sneak up here to visit Potter and Bailey," said Professor McGonagall.

Harry inhales deeply.

Bailey's heart sinks.

From her position, Bailey has a perfect view of what's going on without having to even move. Madam Pomfrey shifts slightly and discovers the patient's identity.

Colin Creevey. His eyes were wide, and his hands are stuck up in front of him, holding his camera.

"Petrified," said Madam Pomfrey, horrified.

"Yes," said Professor McGonagall. "But I shudder to think…If Albus hadn't been on the way downstairs for hot chocolate…who knows what might have…"

Dumbledore leans forward, wrenching the camera out of Colin's rigid grip.

Eagerly, Professor McGonagall said "You don't think he managed to get a picture of his attacker?"

Dumbledore opens the back of the camera.

"Good gracious," said Madam Pomphrey.

A jet of steam hisses out of the camera, a noticeable smell of burnt plastic lingering in the air.

Wonderingly, Madam Pomfrey said "Melted. All melted…"

"What does this mean, Albus," asked Professor McGonagall, urgently.

Bleakly, Dumbledore said "It means that Hogwarts is no longer safe. The Chamber of Secrets is indeed open again."

Harry digs a hand deep into Bailey's fur, discreetly clutching her close.

Staring intently at Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall said "But, Albus…surely…who?"

Eyes trained on Colin intently, Dumbledore said "The question is not who…The question is, how…?"

How indeed?

Authors Note:

Got the idea for this chapter from the Air Bud movie series. I don't know about the rest of you, but I absolutely adored those movies when I was growing up. Couldn't get enough of them.

Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. A couple of months ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.

When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in some way. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.

Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.

Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.

Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.

I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D

For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.

Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.

So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.

I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
