Chapter 19: Getting Ready
Note: This chapter Will mainly deal with Daniel finding out where they are going and Sweeney and the others discussing what they will do in Germany as well as Lovett and Robert discussing their relationship.
(Daniels POV.) I pushed the horse hard. We were rushing to the docs. "They knew we were coming," I snarled to myself. I realized I was a fool for thinking they wouldn't know what we would do." I was already shooting past Fleet Street and down farther toward the docks.
"I have to get there before he escapes. I can't let Barker get away." Soon I approached the docks and my eyes widened in horror. There was a body laying on the ground. I leapt off the horse and raced over to it. "Please don't be who I think it is."
It was him, Judge Turpin. I could tell a straight razor had killed him. I decided to walk over to the other side of the dock. The place I was going was far enough that they would not have heard of the death of the honorable judge Turpin. It was where the dock manager lived. I knocked on the door.
The manager opened the door groggily. "Hello," he said, yawning. "Where was the last ship that left the docks tonight?" "It was heading to Germany sir" he told me. I decided not to tell him about the death of Judge Turpin. Tomorrow I will get a few cops and begin my manhunt to find him and his accomplices.
First I needed to find a few officers and move the judges body. I would find Barker and bring him to justice yet again. I failed the judge but I would not fail to avenge him. He was a good man, and Barker would pay. (Sweeey's POV.) I still couldn't help but feel some jubilation, or at least as much as I was capable of.
We had to flee yes, Lovett was still alive yes, but the vile Judge Turpin was dead. The man who forced himself on my wife, who stole my daughter and tried to marry her, the man who ripped me away from the embrace of my family, was dead. I needed to hide from them what I had done, I could not risk them knowing yet. But still that piece of shit was dead. But now having to escape to my next hideaway needed to be discussed. "Everyone, we need to talk about what we are doing going forward."
"We were talking about that before you came aboard," Anthony told me. I turned and looked over at Lucy who smiled. "She has been going in and out of lucidity but she has helped too" Johanna told me. "I am a sailor so it is not hard to realize what I will pass my way as." "As horrible as Turpin was, he did teach me some important life skills. For example I can cook and sew, so I could work as a seamstress."
"We were thinking you would try to open a parlor for barbering," Johanna said. Lucy looked over to me at this. "You're a barber?" she asked, tipping her head." "I was yes." "I think I knew a barber once?" Me and Johanna spun around to face her directly.
"I can't remember who he was, but it's a feeling I have that I knew one." "I will help you remember more about your past Lucy" I declared. "Thank you Mr Todd" she said smiling. I walked over to her and placed my hand on her cheek. "We'll get a nice home in Germany, and I will help you with your memories, I will give you a better life then you had on the streets of London, you will not have to beg ever again. "Thank you Mr Todd" Lucy said with tears in her eyes.
I love you more than the air I breathe my love. And if anyone tries to harm you and Johanna again they're throats will meet my blade. You can bet on that. Someday everything will be ok again. I still loved this woman so damn much. Mr Lovett was a fool thinking she could ever replace Lucy in my life.
(Lovett's POV.) I was at Robert's home for a little while. I wonder if that bastard had read the letter I left him. I wished I could see his face when he found I had a few of his precious silver razors. Razors he seemed to value more than me and my help. Robert however seemed to care for me, so much so he took me to his home just to keep me safe from Todd.
Me and Robert were now sitting in his living room. He had a large sofa we were sitting on, and a coffee table to the right, and the back of the wall had a large bookshelf. "I hope he hasn't done anything to your home." "I'm sure it's wrecked, he is not a weak man thanks to his hard labor and devils island." "If he had done any major damage I promise I will help repair any of the damage he may have made." "You are a good man Robert, unlike him."
"Thank you," he said smiling. "I care about you a lot Nellie." "I care about you a lot too Robert." "If that bastard had hurt you, I would have killed him myself." I couldn't help but turn red at this. "That is why I need to tell you how I am feeling, Nellie."
"You can tell me anything Robert." "I have never been so happy in my life since I met you. You make you feel good and it's not because of your looks, as incredible as they are. The thought of him hurting you felt me feel nothing but terror at the thought of losing you. I would die for you if I needed to. What I am trying to tell you is that I am in love with you Nellie."
"Robert I adore you as well, you make me feel things I haven't felt since Benjamin before who became this monster that he is now. I also would willingly die for you too." I leaned over to him, and he leaned over to me. We began to make out right on the couch. I sincerely felt nothing but deep love for Robert, as he seemed to feel for me.
Note: So that is done, next chapter Lovett and Robert will return to the pie emporium. Daniel will also get a ship to chase down the barber gang where he will talk more about Benjamin Barker's imprisonment. He'll describe the first time Sweeney Todd showed signs of his existence. There will also be a time skip where the barber gang gets close to Germany and arrives there.
