Author's Note
I do not own the Hunger Games.
Thank you to Goldie for your review! I appreciate your thoughts!
Silverie Erilea Amarendaje, 14
District Seven's Town Square was nice. Not as nice as District One, where Silverie had been last time, but nicer than some others. The Town Hall was a large, red brick building, and trees hemmed two sides of the square. The back side held a large advertisement board screaming for people to, 'reproduce to help society.'
On stage, the escort, a bulky man with green hair, was showing off the first tribute, a tall girl with tiger striped hair. Silverie rolled their eyes. "Get on with it."
"Now, let's see who our second tribute will be." He dipped a hand in the bowl. "Silverie Erilea Amarendaje! Come on up here, Silverie!"
Finally. Silverie stepped from the corral and strode up to the stage. The escort shook their hand. "Nice to meet you, Silverie. Is there anything you'd like to say?"
Silverie grinned out at the crowd. "Only that I intend to win this time round."
Applause went up from the generated crowd. Silverie stepped back to join the female player as the escort moved to the bowl for the boys.
"Now for the boys! Let's see, shall we?" He stuck a hand in the bowl and pulled out a slip. "Bastion Prime!"
The boy came from the sixteens, short and stout. He let out a whoop as he reached the stage, pumping his fist in the air. "Living history, baby!"
"And now for our second male!" The escort selected another slip. "Zephyr Almon!"
This one came from the thirteens, a small, spindly boy with dark, wavy hair and a pale complexion. A young player. He got lucky to get into this special. He made his way up to the stage, looking surprisingly star-struck.
"Ladies and gentlemen, your tributes for the Fiftieth Hunger Games! Angelica Pierce, Silverie Erilea Amarendaje, Bastion Prime, and Zephyr Almon!"
Iridescence Sterling, 17
District Eleven.
Well, that sucked.
Iridescence preferred the higher numbers, and the Career Districts made play easier; they got more sponsor points. Hopefully one of the boys got into one. Still, perhaps this meant she could go unnoticed for a bit. Even Capitol kids had biases, plenty overlooked Eleven.
And this was the Fiftieth, which meant more players to keep track of.
"Now," said the escort on the stage. "Let's see who our lucky competitors for the Quell are going to be." His hand plunged into the bowl, coming out with a single slip. "Our first lucky lady! Emeria Delilah Echavoque!"
Oh, Iridescence knew her! They'd played together before. Perhaps they could make a truce agreement for the bloodbath. She waited as the girl appeared from her corral and made her way up to the stage. She was slender, with jet black hair, almost the direct opposite of Iridescence's own, striking purple eyes, and matching dark purple eyes. She grinned as she found the camera point and blew it a kiss.
Iridescence waited as the escort stuck his hand in the bowl again.
"And for our second female tribute⦠Iridescence Sterling! Come on up here!"
Iridescence grinned at the computerised faces around her as she sauntered up to the stage, climbing the steps to join Emeria.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, your female tributes, Emeria Delilah Echavoque and Iridescence Sterling!"
Iridescence took Emeria's hand and raised it into the air.
Good for sponsor points.
