The New Kid

"How is that moat coming, babies?" Angelica asked.

"We're working on it but its kind of hard to dig that deep," Tommy said.

"And my hands are getting tired," Chuckie said.

Angelica sighed. "Then get Phil and Lil to help."

"Uh, I think we'll just play something else instead," Tommy said. Him and Chuckie hadn't been playing with Phil and Lil a lot ever since he'd told them that they had to stop picking on Chuckie just because they thought it was fun; the twins hadn't liked being told what to do and just assumed Tommy would give in. But Tommy hadn't; Chuckie was his friend and he refused to back down and let him get hurt. That meant that while they spent time together they tended to do their own thing.

At the moment the twins had wandered off to play on another jungle gym with some boy named Josh. He'd tried to get Tommy and Chuckie to come too but Angelica had reminded Tommy that they were supposed to stay within sight of Grandpa Lou. The twins hadn't cared though and left, leaving Tommy and Chuckie to deal with Angelica.

"You-"

"Angelica," Grandpa Lou called out from where he sat under a tree.

She walked over, pouting. "I wasn't being mean, Grandpa! Honest!"

"Maybe but that don't mean you have the right ta demand the sprouts do whatever ya want. If they want ta play with ya that's fine but ya can't boss'em around." Angelica grumbled at that but Lou smirked. "Ya know why moats are so important?" Angelica shook her head. "Let me tell ya a little story about the time me and this young fella I was mentorin' named Ash had ta defend a castle from some Deadites-"

Twin screams of pain filled the air and Lou bolted up, hurrying along with Angelica close behind, Tommy and Chuckie running as fast as they could to the other jungle gym. There was the new kid that had convinced the twins to play with him, having landed on Phil while leaping from the swing. Lou watched as Phil howled in plain, his arm trapped under the older boy's bulk, and when Lil tried to help the brat PUNCHED HER!

"WHAT IS GOIN' ON HERE!" Lou roared and the other parents all began to pay attention and realize that there was a baby seriously hurt; Phil and Lil were in agony. Lou grabbed the boy and refused to let go. "Whose little monster is this?!"

"Josh!" a man said, hurrying over. "What did you do?"

"I was just playing Pillow, dad," Josh said smugly. "Not my fault those stupid babies don't know how to break my fall-" He stopped as his father loomed over him, the boy shivering in fear as he realized how much trouble he was in.

For Josh his time at the park was over… for many, many months.

Far longer than Phil had to wear a cast on his wrist.
