Chapter 30: A Month Passes By

Note: Here is some of what happened during the month time skip. We are mainly going to get Sweeney and Daniel POV in this chapter. Some fluff between Sweeney and Lucy will be in this chapter, and we will get the frustration Daniel felt trying and failing to find Sweeney as well. I guess we need to start the chapter now huh readers. Let's begin with Mr Todd.

(Sweeney's POV.) I absolutely hated leaving Lucy to work. The men at the quarry were trying to be nice but I despised them anyway. I could not help this, in any way. My Lucy was back, my angel, my light was back. There was a part of me that needed blood, that needed to drench my friends with rubies.

But I could not kill anyone, not if I wanted to hide. Life was often miserable, someone had to be trying to find me. After her job, Johanna and Anthony would often be inseparable being the young lovers that they are. In prison I had so many dreams of being with Lucy again, talking with her, kissing her lips, and wondering what I ever did to deserve an amazing woman like her. I came home to her once alone crying. I lifted her chin up with my hand until I had her looking into my eyes.

"I miss how things were Ben, before Turpin ripped you away from me. I should have chased after you, but I was so stunned I couldn't react, until he tried to comfort me, like he wasn't the monster who did this. He was relentless and he would not leave me alone until he finally made me think he was sorry about what happened. It's my fault Sweeney, if I never went he would not have." "Don't you dare blame yourself for what he did to you" I cut her off. "He was the monster who tricked you and forced himself on you.

If you did not go to the party, he would have tried something else. If he was willing to force himself on you then, he would have done it later. And if you had chased after me it would not have mattered. It's done my love, he will never touch you again, and I will never let anyone else touch you again either, I swear on my life." "I know Sweeney, I'm sorry." "Don't apologize."

She could still not remember what happened before her and Mrs Lovett that pushed her into finally taking the arsenic. It took a while for Johanna to truly convince her she did not hate her for taking the arsenic that led to her insanity and to Johanna being taken by the judge. I loved speaking with Lucy after I came home from work, just like what it used to be like when I was a barber in London. We would gently kiss each other almost every time. I missed when she would come to the shop during slow days. It was becoming common for Johanna and Anthony to go to town for hours at a time.

I admit seeing how Johanna lit up whenever he was around made me grow more tolerant of his relationship with her. It would not surprise me if they decided to go on their own any time now. "He will be good to her, I see the way they look at each other," Lucy would reassure me. "When we were courting you would often gaze at me, Sweeney." "I was often wondering what I had done to deserve a woman like you." "That's funny, as I often wondered what I did to deserve a man like you."

I caressed Lucy's face. We would often have conversations like this. Me and her still considered ourselves married. She had sadly lost her wedding ring, but I had managed to find mine back in London and held on to it. Johanna and Anthony meanwhile wanted us to marry again, under my new public pseudonym. I had a suspicious feeling that Johanna and Anthony were thinking of their own wedding plans.

I sincerely was not against the possibility of that scenario. Could life be looking up again, or would things come crashing down. (Daniels POV.) We had been looking for Barker for so damned long, I felt it had been years when it only has been months. No matter where we looked, no matter where we split up, we always came up dry. Me and my officers were growing tired of this search.

But he killed the judge, and he had alluded us, me, for far too long. The three of us were starting to get at each other's throats. "Why is looking for these people so damned hard," Jason snarled. "Because we had nothing but bullshit to aid us," Jermemy added with a snarl. "He is an escaped fugitive, and he murdered the judge, we must find him and his accomplices," I reminded them. "I miss home, I miss not being in this damned never ending search," Jason said.

"We are already almost out of towns to search through, in fact we might be able to find them soon, I think we only have one more town to pass through." "I know Daniel, I know," Jason said. "Do you really think we will find them soon?" "I am more than positive, because this is the last town on the line," I told them. "They will be in the next town, I know they will." It will not be long, Barker, I promise you."

(Sweeney's POV.) It was another night leaving the quarry. I absolutely despised how it reminded me of doing hard labor on devil's island. At least there were no guards here. I sighed, running my fingers through my hair. It was difficult hiding my friends and my holsters, but I somehow was doing it.

As I was about to turn the corner, I heard three voices, one of them familiar. I pressed myself to the wall of the building and listened. "They must be here, Barker must be here." "Yes I believe that shit stain is here, it's the last town. It can't be, can it. I looked around the building, and there he was with two other officers.

It was him, the guard who was hired by the vulture himself. I never thought I'd have this opportunity, I would introduce him, and his friends, to my dear friends. I would not let him ruin everything, and make me lose everything again. At long last, you shall drip precious rubies once more my friends.

Note: So things are going down. Next chapter we will be getting the showdown between Daniel and Sweeney to happen. We will also get some Anthony POV next chapter soon. We are getting closer to the final arc, but I want this to be taken care of, and I need to get some fluff between the couples before we finish this story. But first it's time for Sweeney vs Daniel to happen.
