Hi again guys!
Not much to say except hope you enjoy the chapter.
The Cold of Winter
Winter looked at the Scourge of Anima.
The beringel mask, the monkey tail.
Signs of him being a white fang member. Which means he'll do his best to kill her, a Schnee. But with her new power she's confident that she can take him down.
The blue flame in her eyes flared up showing that she was ready to fight.
Kron couldn't stop staring at her eyes.
He couldn't stop seeing Raven in Winter's place every time he blinked.
His scar burned just by looking at her.
Is she like her? Or is this just a trick? One way to find out.
He'll start by attacking with the same strength he used against the operatives.
Kron dashed forward.
Winter dashed forward at a similar speed with her rapier.
The maiden was already in front of Kron to his surprise.
Winter thrust her blade forward into the right of his chest.
Kron barely avoided it, still using the same speed he used against Harriet.
The specialist was surprised, she wasn't using her full power yet but she should still be faster than most huntsman even Harriet thanks to her glyphs.
She then swiped her blade going for another slash.
Kron ducked beneath and threw a punch to her stomach.
And Winter caught it with her free hand, much to his delight.
The maiden then tried to swipe her blade again.
Only for the Saiyan to grab her wrist holding the blade.
The two locked eyes.
Winter glared at the Scourge wondering how this boy can be this strong. It was no wonder the general wanted an active Maiden.
Kron behind his mask was smiling end to end. She was faster and stronger than anyone he fought. Yes, there's no doubt she is like Raven!
The two struggled a bit, the ground beneath their feet started to crack at the amount of force they were putting in.
The blue flame from Winter's eyes flared.
Kron noticed his fist that Winter was holding was being coated in ice.
He reacted by headbutting Winter.
Forcing her to let go and tilt her head back.
He went for a punch to her face with his not-frozen hand.
But Winter quickly kicked across Kron's chest sending him skidding back while standing.
The Saiyan held his chest, it hurt. That really hurt! This wasn't rage his mind was shouting in, it was excitement.
Winter put her leg down and looked at her opponent who still stood tall. She put quite a bit of force behind that kick and he was still standing. No doubt this is where she can put her power to the test.
He looked at his ice-covered fist and used his Ki to break it off.
Kron's heart pounded so loud in his eardrums; his blood boiled.
And most of all the scar on his chest was burning.
The Saiyan laughed and got into a fighting stance.
"Finally, finally! I can see just how much I've improved!" He yelled excitingly.
Improved? What could he mean by that?
But Winter didn't get to contemplate for long.
Kron dashed forward like a hungry beowolf.
Winter couldn't help but glance around the museum and scoff.
She brought her hand up showing lightning and tossed it.
The Saiyan sees the lightning and dodges to the side as he swung for a kick to the side of her head.
A snowflake symbol appeared blocking the kick just an inch. Away from her face.
Kron looked surprised and remembered something from Nicholas Schnee's description. That's their family's semblance.
Winter tried to pierce Kron's chest.
Only for the Saiyan to duck under her and go for a sweep kick.
The newest maiden fell on her back.
Kron jumped up and tried to elbow on her stomach.
Winter quickly held up a hand but not to use her magic, but to create a glyph in front of her to use a shield again.
"Tch" The Saiyan was stopped again by a glyph, only this glyph wasn't just for blocking.
It glowed and summoned a white beowolf which pushed Kron back.
The Saiyan was surprised that it turned into an actual creature.
The beast tried to bite his head.
But before it could Kron ripped its arms off its body and threw a kick at its neck chopping through it and vanished as if it was never there.
Kron looked at Winter only to see that she had summoned other creatures, five beowolves surrounded her.
"So it's true, you Schnees can summon anything you've slain." The Saiyan said impressed at the creatures. "Though can't you summon anything better? I killed my first beowolf at five years old! Come on, you gotta have something with more bite."
He sounded disappointed when he said that. She could summon far more vicious creatures and would need to against him. But they weren't for him, she had to do something before using her full power.
Winter glanced around and the beasts all scattered running in different directions and avoiding Kron.
This confused the Saiyan wondering what they were doing.
But he didn't get to think much as another glyph showed at his feet.
It became black and he felt all around him a force that almost forced him onto the ground.
"What the!"
With him trapped and caught of guard Winter ran forward and went for another pierce at his chest.
The Saiyan barely lifted his left arm as the blade managed to pierce his tight body suit. He caught the blade just as the blade penetrated the center of his chest.
"Tch" Winter was annoyed that she thought she managed to land a decent hit on him with that attraction glyph around him.
Kron pulled and threw a forward chop into Winter's throat making her cough and stumble back. The glyph Kron was trapped in broke, he then punched the newest maiden's stomach forcing her to keel over, then he grabbed her head and bashed it on his knee.
This made Winter fall back.
The Saiyan then threw a spin kick aimed at her face.
Winter recovered and used a glyph to block it. Then she kicked at his stomach.
It was enough to make him stumble.
Winter then slashed across his body at hyper speed.
During the stumble, Kron's shoulders, abdomen, and knees were slashed.
But Winter wasn't done as she aimed her left hand forward.
Another glyph appeared but instead of restraining a target, this was meant to propel the target.
Kron was pushed back by it and sent flying.
With another wave of her hand, another glyph appeared above and a wave of frost poured out.
The wave hit the flying Kron and covered him in ice.
She kept her eyes on the target ready to fight again.
To her expectations, Kron broke free from the ice and stood tall, not even looking exhausted. She glanced somewhere else before focusing on the Scourge of Anima.
As Kron got out of the ice he couldn't help but enjoy the moment. This was great, he was fighting at the same level he did against the operatives, and she was more than keeping up.
Kron then looked at where he was slashed, his eyes widened, something happened that hasn't for a frustratingly long time.
Blood. There was blood everywhere she cut!
Kron smiled and chuckled. "That's what I'm talking about."
He stopped chuckling when he noticed something.
The summoned white Grimm from earlier were getting the Ace Operatives and preparing to leave.
Winter went for a side slash only for Kron to jump. She looked at what he was doing and to her horror, she saw what he was doing.
Kron struck all of the summoned Grimm individually just as they were taking them somewhere safe.
No. He's going to use them as hostages. She was holding back her power because they were scattered about.
There's no doubt about it, he really is White Fang! Using hostages to get the upper hand.
The Saiyan looked back at her.
"I thought something was strange, you were holding back because you thought your power would kill these five, weren't you?"
Winter said nothing keeping a serious expression.
What should she do? The general always said to prioritize the mission above all else. The Ace Operatives were dedicated warriors to Atlas. They would understand that their sacrifice was worth it!
She sees Kron lifting Harriet up like a human shield.
No choice. There's no choice at all.
Her flame-glowing eyes flared brighter and was about to attack through Harriet to get to the target.
But she stopped.
Kron grabbed the back of her exo suit and tore it without harming Harriet, he then tossed it aside in a corner of the museum.
He then dropped Harriet and walked away while looking at Winter.
What was he doing? Wasn't he going to use his hostages?
She got her answer as if reading her mind.
"I'm taking their weapons, I will put them aside so I can take them home later, after I piled them up we'll start the fight again."
What? Why isn't he using his leverage?
"Let's do this outside, I'd like to leave these five alive to tell the tale of how I beat them."
Winter couldn't help but be bewildered by this. Any White Fang member would either use hostages or kill the Ace Operatives to cripple Atlas's defense.
As Kron was about to step outside, he gestured for her to follow.
The specialist shook her head and decided to use this hoping it was no ruse. "If we fight outside I still wouldn't use my full power."
Kron looked at the woman surprised that she spoke.
"What's the problem, you want these five safe, right?"
The soldier normally wouldn't reveal her intentions to an enemy but if what he says is true and he wants her full power then she'll see if she can use that. Fighting outside cannot happen, General Ironwood instructed her to not take the fight where anyone can see.
"If civilians are out I'll need to hold back during the battle," Winter explained. "You wouldn't want that right?"
Kron scratched the back of his head and sighed.
"Too bad, I was really hoping to make this a show for all of Atlas to remember." The Saiyan sighed. "Fine, fine, let me get the operative's weapons, and you can take them outside."
The maiden was surprised that it worked, she thought it was some trick to throw her off. But it looked like it worked.
She eyed him carefully as if waiting for him to attack, but true to his word he got Vine's throwing star, Clover's Kingfisher, Marrow's Fetch, and Elm's Timber. He tossed them on top of the piece of Harriet's exo suit he ripped off her earlier.
"Alright get them out." He said as he tossed the weapons in a corner of the museum where his trophies can be out of the way.
Winter glared at him not trusting him at all. But while she is a soldier, she would like to avoid unnecessary casualties. She summoned her beowolves again and they collected the knocked-out operatives and took them out of the museum.
True to his word Kron didn't move only watched as the creatures took his previous opponents to safety.
Once that was done he took a different fighting position than usual. One arm with his fist held up, the other with his hand in a forward chop position, right leg a step in front of the other.
Now he can test the actual fighting style he's been trying to perfect these past nine years.
"Something you should know, I've been holding back to, fighting at the same level I did against the operatives."
Winter kept a stoic face but wondered if that was true. Maidens were supposed to be able to outpower any huntsman. But this boy, he's not only holding his own, he claims that he's not fighting at his best. That couldn't be true.
Kron looked at the blood that came out of his arm. "It's so good that you can make me bleed, it's been too long since I've seen it." He placed his arm down and looked at the Schnee. "Now, fight to kill me, no holding back! It's no fun otherwise!
He dresses like them. But he doesn't act like a White Fang. Did the general get it wrong?
Doesn't matter. He's a threat to Atlas and must be dealt with appropriately.
She took her own stance her blade pointed at the enemy. Now she can fight with no restraint.
Her eyes glowed brighter than ever.
The two vanished and appeared all over the museum, faster than the human eye only appearing for a brief second before vanishing.
Winter rose her blade to block an axe kick from Kron.
She then pushed up her blade up forcing him to flip.
She tried to stab threw his back.
But Kron levitated away and flipped in a ball kinda like how a boarbatusk rolls, then he floated and fired two energy shots.
Winter rose a hand to create another glyph to block them, they pushed her back and made her grit her teeth, while her glyph got destroyed.
Then she sees the 'monkey faunas appear right in front of her.
Kron threw a fist straight for Winter's face
Winter weaved and slashed for his face.
He tilted his head to avoid the blade and threw a forward chop for her throat.
It connected forcing her to choke.
Kron then threw a punch at her stomach making her keel over. He grinned from behind his mask but he stopped when he looked down.
She placed a hand on his abdomen, ice started to form.
He growled, pulled back his fist, and headbutted her. He placed Ki on his stomach where she tried to trap him in ice.
Winter then tried to swipe her blade at him again.
But the Saiyan ducked under and swept kick.
The Schnee was ready and jumped back. She then waved her hand forming three glyphs around him. Then she used her magic to form large ice shards.
Kron punched all three of the shards and turned to Winter with his hand out.
He fired a red Ki blast aimed at her.
Under Winter's feet a glyph formed, it had a propulsion effect and she dashed to the left.
She then waved her hand up forming another glyph. This one was for summoning.
The Saiyan looked at the beasts she conjured up.
There were at least a couple dozen.
Goliaths, a nevermore, and a manticore. Plus many Grimm of different shapes and sizes.
Winter waved her sword at him commanding the beasts to go after the lone 'faunus'.
Behind his mask, Kron smiled glad to see more vicious Grimm.
First, he flipped like a ball as a white alpha ursa slammed its hand into the ground, then he swung down his leg and kicked its head splitting it in two, and turned to palm strike a beowolf's chest destroying it.
Three white wild cats like Grimm with saber teeth surrounded him and attacked from all sides.
"Ooh, sabyrs." Kron said as he thrust a forward chop into one of their throats.
Then rose one leg up to forward kick and threw another in the gut cutting it in half.
And aiming a hand and firing a Ki blast at the last sabyr destroying its head.
From above Winter was watching, waiting for an opening to take advantage of. And very carefully observing how he moves.
Once that was done a white-winged Grimm with a snake tail and bone-like chest plate charged at him.
"And a sphinx, never killed one of you either."
Kron quickly lowered himself as the beast charged and swung an uppercut at its chin sending it up, then he jumped as a beowolf tried to lunge from behind.
The Saiyan then kicked outward with one foot out and his toes pointed toward the middle of the creature.
The sphinx was then torn in half from the simple kick.
A winged lizard-looking Grimm flew up and tried to bite him from behind.
Kron chuckled as he floated above as it missed. He then got on its back and grabbed its neck.
"Oh, never rode a teryx before, this'll be fun!" He then kicked at it's sides as if riding on a horse.
Kron forced the teryx to fly around the army of Grimm Winter had summoned and brought his hand out at the army of Grimm below. He fired many red ki shots.
The beowolves and ursa were destroyed by his blasts while the stronger Grimm survived and were more annoyed.
"Ahahaha wooh!" He should really try flying Grimm more often it's a fun change.
Winter squeezed her fists in annoyance at how this boy is making a joke out of her summoned army of Grimm.
Once Kron was about to finish destroying the last of her beowolfs.
Winter waved a hand and a black glyph showed around the tyrx and stopped the creature in its place while Kron also felt a restrain on himself.
"Aw, ride's over." He whined as a manticore charged at him from behind.
Despite the glyph restraining him Kron was able to jump off the trapped teryx as it was destroyed by the biting manticore. The creature looked up at it's target to see Kron flipping in the form of a ball again.
And he brought his leg out and spear kick downward on the creature's head tearing it off and landing on the ground.
Just as he landed on the ground two goliaths charged him from the sides.
Kron brought his arms out and caught the tusked monsters with his hands.
He growled as he pushed the creatures from colliding.
Then he sees a glyph floating above his head.
"Oh shit," He said.
A white wave came and hit Kron in the chest encasing him in ice.
But not just him, the summoned goliaths he was between were also trapped in ice.
Winter glared infuriated with herself.
She was trying to trap only the Scourge in ice, but she froze her own summons. The general was right, she was a fool thinking she could've fought at the operative's side, they would've been casualties caused by her.
Seconds later the ice formation shook along with the museum.
And again Kron freed himself from the ice and destroyed the frozen goliaths. He then sees two more goliaths charging at him.
The Saiyan then held his hands up forming red energy spheres, then he condensed them making them look smaller, and closed his fists around them.
Then he slammed his fists down aiming at the goliaths. "Berringel Burst!"
A powerful red wave of energy charged at the two rampaging monsters.
The blasts collided with incoming goliaths and created a huge red explosion along with a column of smoke, it made a huge crater at the center of the museum.
Out of the smoke came the nevermore and manticore.
Kron immediately jumped and landed on THE nevermore's neck. He then laughed as he enjoyed his next ride. "Hahahaha!"
Winter from below watched as he rode the nevermore. She was already sick of him using her summons as mounts.
As the nevermore flew and tried to get Kron off of it the manticore flew above and tried to attack Kron from behind.
But the Saiyan was ready for it, he jumped and flipped, holding his knees making him appear like a ball as the manticore attacked.
As he was above the manticore he then swung his leg kicking down the monster's head.
The creature slammed into the ground shaking the whole museum, and a huge crack at the bottom.
He then rose a hand and aimed it at the nevermore he flew on and destroyed its head.
Winter couldn't help but be impressed. Those summonses were powered by her magic and yet he took them out with almost no trouble.
Once Kron was done with that, he turned to his opponent who doesn't seem surprised that he overpowered her summons.
Good. That means she has more in the tank.
Ironwood can still see the fight through the monitor.
He clenched his teeth at the sight.
The Scourge of Anima was a bigger threat than they realized.
If only they had more time. Winter still hadn't learned to use her power in groups.
Perhaps then with the Ace Operatives at her side, she could've won by now.
However, the sight gives him hope.
Both the Scourge and Winter are fighting evenly.
Even if Winter can't win, with a good number of troops they'll be able to restrain him when he's exhausted.
And even if he escapes, they will have time to work on their next plan to take him out.
He glanced at the two blueprints their top scientists have worked on.
One was designed to be Atlas's protector until the next Maiden was chosen.
Project Penny.
The other was designed to help any huntsman fight the Scourge of Anima, or those like him, which started around seven years ago.
Project Crusader.
Neither of them are finished, if only they had more time.
He shook his head. A soldier doesn't think of 'if only', only what is.
Winter will win.
She must.
The battle continued as Kron charged at Winter.
He started with a forward chop for Winter's neck.
Only for the soldier to tilt her head and swipe her sword.
Kron quickly grabbed her arm and pulled her to the side.
She struggled while he held her sword arm unable to move.
The Saiyan then, let go of her arm, kicked the back of her knee to make her kneel, and grabbed her neck from behind, two fingers to the throat, and a thumb on a pressure point on the back of the neck.
Winter recognizes this, it was the Taijitu Bite Grip, a move that stops the target from breathing and knocks them out.
Kron watched as she stopped struggling. Maybe he should let her go he didn't want this fight over yet.
She placed her hand on the ground and large ice crystals appeared from the ground.
This surprised the Saiyan and made him jump back, he smiled behind his mask. Good, he was hoping she could get out of that.
Then Winter appeared in front of him and made a slash down.
Kron rose his hands to catch the sword.
She then activated her maiden powers to use lightning on her blade.
This caused Kron to suffer some electrocution and made him let go of the sword.
He tried to retaliate with a quick backhand.
Winter ducked underneath as if she saw it coming.
And she pierced the Scourge's open shoulder, stabbing into his top and skin.
As if ignoring the stab, Kron spun and kicked for Winter's head.
But she rose an arm and formed a block of ice to shield herself.
Once she blocked it she tried to slash at Kron's leg.
Only for the Saiyan to pull back and throw a punch to her gut.
Winter then blocked it with her sword and slammed her ice-covered fist into his face.
The ice shattered and forced Kron's head back.
Winter then created another glyph beneath the Scourge of Anima and jumped back.
The Saiyan looked down to see it turn red.
Winter then used fire magic to combine with her glyph similar to how a Schnee would combine dust with their glyphs to activate certain effects.
Beneath Kron, the glyph exploded sending him upward. Just when Kron caught himself another glyph appeared where he was propelled to and around him there were six other glyphs in the air, they all turned red.
"Well, I'll be damned." He said sounded more happy than worried.
Winter again applied fire magic to her glyphs.
Kron got hit by an explosion sending him spinning to another glyph, that one also exploded and repeatedly sent across the museum in the air blowing up in different directions.
Once the explosions ended Kron righted himself mid-air, his top completely ruined, his cloak was pretty much torn in half.
Winter appeared in front of him as if he wasn't a threat.
Kron flipped and tried to axe kick.
Only for her to sway it and activate a glyph on it, it turned black indicating a pull effect.
The Scourge of Anima was caught by surprise and was pulled to the ground.
He created a large crater on the museum floor and stood up.
Only for Winter to appear with her blade positioned for piercing.
With her eyes flaring she used her magic to add more force to this next move.
Winter trusted her sword forward all over Kron's chest.
The Scourge of Anima felt the blade pierce multiple spots on his upper body, it looked as if he couldn't stop her at his current level.
The soldier then stopped her piercing and kicked his chest sending him flying.
She then aimed her hand at his chest and fired lightning.
Kron felt the lightning hit his chest as he was sent back and hitting a display of a mine making the mannequins fall over
The sheer force had the museum crumbling.
Winter had her guard up and eyed her opponent. This was unbelievable! When she had gotten the operatives outside, she thought this fight would be simple when she could go all out. She then glanced at her sword she finally managed to pierce him, multiple times.
There was some blood, but only at the tip of her sword showing that she didn't stab deep enough to do much damage to him.
She couldn't help but think how was that possible. It must have been his Aura, it's probably not down yet, it has to be now.
She shook her head. It didn't matter, regardless of his ridiculous power, she could still win. She managed to send him back. She focused her stance waiting for her opponent to get out of the crater.
Kron chuckled and got himself out of the wall he was forced into.
"Wow, you really are clever." He stated as he stood up with his tight top ruined, showing his bare chest, and the scar Raven gave him years ago. Also, his beringel mask was damaged, the top right corner of it was gone showing Kron's left eye.
The Schnee said nothing only looking at him for any sign of fatigue. She was frustrated as she sees none.
"Those summon's" Kron began. "You sent them not to take me out but to observe how I fight, now you got a good deal on my fighting style, that's how you're able to predict my moves now huh?"
Winter didn't reply to that only tried to strategize her next move.
"What do you think of my fighting style by the way?" He asked calmly. "I mimic the movements of different Grimm as much as possible while mixing it with some other styles I've fought before."
She figured that. When he does a forward chop it's like a deathstalker stinger, when he jump kicks it's like lancer's stinger, when he grapples it's like he's a king taijitu, when he flips it's like he's a boarbatusk, when punches it's like a berringel's. He's mimicked many Grimm movements to create a fighting style, it's been done before but not to the level that this boy has.
Fighting him is like fighting a man-shaped Grimm.
And more importantly, she realized his fighting style's weakness.
He has little defense and leaves openings for any idiot to attack. No doubt as a result of not having many opponents that can capitalize on it. Until he met her.
"So you don't talk during a fight huh?" He tilted his head annoyed at her lack of response. "Fine" He looked down at his top with a hole where her lightning struck, it showed his scar, the burnt flesh where Raven struck him the first time she tried to kill him.
"Then let me tell you this." He pointed a thumb at the scar. "See this? It was a memento, by someone else with a power like yours! Someone with the same damn glowing eyes!"
That one got a reaction.
Winter's eyes widened and her mouth opened slightly. But she shook it off. That couldn't be true. Could it? But that would explain why he said he improved!
Ironwood heard that and seemed to have a panicked expression.
"Oh?" Kron chuckled. "That got a reaction out of you, now I'm done holding back. Ok? Let's finish this with full power!"
Full power? He was already fighting evenly with her, could he still be holding back? Winter glared as her flames glowed even brighter. Even if that's true she can still win.
Then she sees him dashing towards her at an incredible speed she could follow, but not react.
Kron threw an elbow across Winter's face.
It landed making her stumble a bit, blood left her mouth.
He then punched her in the gut and spun kicked across her head and sent her slamming into the wall.
Winter's vision was swimming. He wasn't bluffing. This is impossible!
Kron then appeared and threw a punch only for her to fly up as he made a hole in the wall she was on.
Winter ignored the pain used her glyphs to get some distance from him and fired a huge wave of lightning.
Kron chuckled as he rose his arms to block the lightning.
Now it created a column of smoke.
Winter landed on the ground and knew better than to assume he was done. She made another glyph and this one was used for summoning.
Many creatures came from it and charged forward.
In the smoke, Kron was standing fine and heard trampling.
It was a pack of white beowolves.
These creatures again? He thought he told her these were jokes!
Kron sighed annoyed and threw punches and kicks at each one.
While he was attacking them she was focusing power on her blade.
She then aimed her sword and a large ice crystal raced towards Kron in the smoke.
As Kron took care of the last beowolf, he heard the sound of glass breaking and turned.
He sees a huge amount of ice shards racing towards him, no doubt an attempt to impale him.
Kron smiled as he rose an arm.
A red energy surrounded the arm as the ice crystal came closer and closer.
The energy took shape into the claw of an ursa.
"Ursa Claw!"
Above the museum, a large ice crystal appeared torn through the ceiling.
Kron ran forward with his hand out destroying all the ice that headed his way as he raced towards Winter.
Winter's eyes widened at what she sees, her last attack, did nothing.
Kron reached was destroying the ice and racing towards her.
The newest Maiden's eyes shook as he powered through her attack.
"Alright, been a while since I used this." He said showing his Ursa Claw. "I almost killed the other one with it but the old hag managed to dodge."
She didn't listen as she took her sword out ready to defend herself.
"It'd be fitting to finish you with this." He said as the claw faded away. "But you know what, I have a new technique I haven't been able to test, I'll try it out on you, sound good?"
Winter stabbed the ground with her sword to make many large ice crystals grow from the ground, she breathed in heavily and looked around.
She was ordered to capture him alive, but he's shown that he's too strong. She had to try to kill him. It was the best choice she had.
Did one of these crystals impale him?
They had to, he couldn't have gotten away.
"I'll take that as a yes!"
Her pupils dilated as she looked up at one of the large shards of ice she made come out of the ground.
Kron was standing on top of one looking down at her.
"Now then get ready, thank you for being strong enough to test this out!"
He then dashed downward at unmatched speeds.
And came down just in front of Winter.
Winter glared down at her opponent and swung her sword in an attempt to stop him.
And Kron yelled his newest technique's name.
"Manticore Massacre!"
He punched Winter in the stomach making her keel over and was sent in the air. The Scourge then flew up to kick Winter sending her higher until she was close to the ceiling. Kron then flew up even further and punched her in the stomach sending her higher and through the ceiling. The Saiyan then flew up with his knee out and hit the soldier up the chin making her flip until she was facing the sky.
Just when Winter thought it was over, she sees her opponent repositioning and turning around with his fists aimed downward, toward her.
Kron yelled as he dashed downward with his fists aimed down.
In Winter's mind, she sees a manticore in Kron's place with its claws out ready to bring down its prey. She couldn't help but think 'So that's why he named it that.'
The Saiyan then flew down with his fists connecting to Winter's abdomen and pushed her down back through the hole in the ceiling and Winter was slammed into the ground, shaking the museum again with Kron's fists against her stomach.
Winter coughed up blood this time from the impact.
Once that was done Kron jumped back from the spider web crack he created. "Ah, I think this attack turned out the way I wanted, it's about time I had a rush attack instead of just relying on actual energy."
He looked at his opponent who was getting up.
Now, this was exciting! She's about to go all out too! She must after that!
But then Kron sees something he didn't quite want to see.
Winter was getting up but slowly, too slowly.
Her hair was freed from the military bun. Showing her long white hair.
Winter was trying to get up but was slow, she was using her sword to support her to stand up. Her eyes were barely open, her mouth opened like she couldn't find the energy to close it.
Her body glowed a light blue light, and it looked to have shattered into pieces.
Her Aura was gone now.
"What?" Kron asked. "Hey! You can still fight right? Come on! Make this a grand finale! You better have more! Stand up!"
This wasn't what he wanted. He wanted to win, but he wanted his opponent to fight him at full power. He didn't want this to end with him landing one technique on her.
Winter said nothing as the blue flame in her eyes started to flicker. She walked forward as if attempting to continue the fight.
Her blue flame flickered, going off and on again. Until it finally faded away.
She couldn't continue, she fell forward unconscious and unable to fight and hit the ground face first.
Kron looked down at his opponent on the ground for a few seconds. Though his damaged mask showed only his left eye, it expressed disappointment. Should he have continued fighting at the previous level? He thought that he could finally fight someone without holding back.
He got out of his stance and looked down at Winter.
As he did he started to see Raven in her place.
At least there's a bright side to this, he's surpassed, Raven. Assuming that the people who have these powers are on the same level.
The funny thing is he hopes that he hasn't by this much.
He wants to kill Raven, to make her suffer, but he also wants their final battle to be them both going all out. If it's going to be like this. Is it even worth searching for her?
"Damn it!" He yelled. "Just when it was getting good."
He then looked up at the display the two landed in front of.
It was of Nicholas Schnee, this woman's grandfather if what she said about being Specialist Schnee was true.
"At least she did you proud." He said he was still annoyed that he didn't get the fight he wanted.
What to do now?
While did thought of that he can hear bullheads and vehicles surrounding the place. No doubt an attempt to capture him.
He glanced down at Winter and at the weapons he took from the Ace Operatives.
Atlesian soldiers came in the building and looked around.
The Scourge of Anima was missing.
And Winter Schnee was too!
Ironwood pressed a button and shouted.
"Specialist Schnee! Do you hear me!" He yelled in panic. "Specialist Schnee answer me!"
Just then he got a response.
"Hello?"
It was a young man's voice. One he didn't recognize.
He stopped and his blood froze.
"Is this General Ironwood?"
Ironwood gave a horrified expression.
"Where is she? What have done with her?" He asked hiding his emotions.
"She's alive, relax, I just need to borrow her for a bit."
Borrow her? For what?
"Who are you? What do you want?" Ironwood asked.
"Just someone who was looking for a fight." The Scourge of Anima spoke. "See ya"
A sound of something breaking came to the intercom.
Ironwood put his hands on his desk, guilt washed over him.
Was he wrong for what he did? What was all this preparing for?
If anything happens to Specialist Schnee, he'll never forgive himself.
Inside a laboratory, in Atlas, there were two destroyed Atlas Knights.
And the sounds of a keyboard clicking can be heard.
Arthur was typing away begrudgingly, Dr. Merlot was going to owe him more than he can imagine for this.
Stealing the work of that fat cripple that Ironwood favored for their joint project.
When he told Watts what was needed to finish that monstrosity of his he did his best to convince him they could recreate a superior version without relying on Pelondia's work.
But Merlot went straight to Salem to pitch his project.
And she had him in charge of obtaining it. When they first worked together and created that controlled manticore, he thought perhaps having another scientist would be helpful after all. But now that he's running errands obtaining the inferior work of Polendina he was having second thoughts on this 'partnership' between them.
Merlot's project better be worth it otherwise he'll do his best to convince Salem that he's a liability.
The blueprints he needed were on display.
"Finally," The scientist placed a flash drive on the computer and started a download.
Once he got what he needed he took the drive and walked out.
Arthur pressed on his communicator.
"Tyrian it's done, your distraction worked."
"Didn't I tell you; he would go to Atlas?"
Arthur rolled his eyes.
"You gambled that he would, it was luck that he decided to pick a fight with Atlas."
"On the contrary, I know the boy to be adventurous, I knew he couldn't resist a trip to a new city."
Dr. Watts only grunted as he started getting out of the lab with what he needed.
"You seem angrier than usual. Are you that upset with your task?"
"I will do what Salem requires."
Tyrian giggled, knowing the pride he had in his own work and the hatred of the work he was stealing from Dr. Polendina.
"Just remember if Merlot succeeds, Eclipse will not be the only one who benefits from this."
Arthur didn't say anything as he snuck his way out of the lab.
Winter awoke and panicked looking around, she was in some abandoned building.
"Good, you woke up."
The soldier turns to see the Scourge of Anima standing tall, his top destroyed and the top right of his mask damaged showing one of his eyes, she immediately reached for her sword only to find it missing.
She looked at him to see him holding her sword. There are also weapons on the ground and a piece of Harriet's exo suit.
"This" He held up Winter's sword and pointed down at the weapons on the ground. "And these, are mine, they'll be a part of my own museum."
Winter glared at him and growled.
Kron eyed the sword and tried to put his finger on the handle. "Huh, this is the first time someone had a weapon that didn't turn into a gun or at least had a component. Just a regular sword huh? Guess you don't need it with your semblance."
"Tch" Winter said nothing and tried to get up, her eyes glowed blue flames that were flickering but she fell to the ground unable to even stand.
Kron chuckled. "Sorry, but you've done all you could."
"It's unfortunate, I was hoping you'd have more, but you've reached your limit." He explained and sighed. Still it was the most fun he had in a while so he supposes he can't be picky.
"What do you want?" Winter asked. "Why haven't you killed me? If your looking for a ransom don't bother." Her father wouldn't pay it.
Not that a White Fang agent would do it, then again, he might not be given his behavior.
"Kill you? That'd be a waste. And Ransom? Pfft, I have plenty of money from taking the huntsman who tracks me."
A thief too, that's not surprising.
"I'm hoping you'll get stronger so we can fight again."
She remembered his talk during their battle. There's no way he's White Fang, he's probably on his own.
"Now then I have some questions for you." He began. "This power you hold what is it?"
He didn't know. She thought he said he fought a maiden before.
"You said you fought one before."
"I did" He replied. "She had a different color but she her eyes had glowing flames from them and can wield the elements, what exactly is it?"
He's asking what it is. If he really was with Salem, then he should know it.
Should she tell him? It'd be meaningless to keep it from him. There's no harm. Still, he might benefit from it. He's proven to be an enemy of Atlas, she shouldn't.
"Won't tell me huh?" Kron asked annoyed. "Fine, I don't need to know what it's called, but you have to tell me this."
He kneeled down to face her.
"Where can I find others with this ability?"
She kept quiet this time contemplating if she could tell him since she wouldn't know herself.
Kron held up a hand and showed a red energy ball. He brought it close to her face.
But Winter wouldn't falter only glaring at Kron showing no signs of fear. It didn't infuriate the Saiyan rather he was impressed.
Most would crumble at this point, he couldn't help but admire that stubbornness.
"Hehehe" His energy ball vanished as he stood up. "How about this, you tell me if you can find anyone with this power and I'll answer some questions you might have, I bet Ironwood would love to know."
Winter heard that and squeezed her fists. What choice did she have? It's not like she can tell him anything useful anyway, and he's not asking for anything that puts Atlas in danger. She already failed her mission the least she can do, is get as much info as she can.
"I don't know" She admitted honestly.
"Really?" Kron sighed annoyed and to her surprise, he didn't lash out. "Too bad."
"Last question" He began. "Did you learn this power from Raven Branwen?"
Winter looked confused.
Raven Branwen? Does she have the power to? She didn't know that. Does anyone else know? Ozpin would've told Ironwood. At least Ironwood would believe it he would tell him. Did he not?
"I never met Raven." The Schnee admitted.
Kron groaned and scratched his hair behind his mask.
"Damn it," He said annoyed. "Fine, alright ask away."
Winter had already gotten something new, but she should ask about some things the general knew.
"Are you a member of the White Fang?"
Kron looked at her for a few seconds his eyebrow raised, before chuckling and then breaking into a fit of laughter.
"No, I'm not, I'm my own man."
She has no reason to believe him, but given that he hasn't killed her gives her no reason to doubt her.
"Then why are you dressed like them? Why are you wearing that mask?"
Kron pointed at his mask.
"This? I wore this year before the White Fang started being more active." He said remembering when he had told Daim the outfit he wanted. "It's not my fault the White Fang stole my look."
Though technically he stole this look from Raven and her mask. But he'll never say that.
That would make sense why he hasn't killed her. Or stolen any Atlas tech. She has no reason to believe him but, he hasn't done anything to make her doubt the answer.
"Why, did you come to Atlas? For what purpose?"
Kron chuckled.
"I wanted to see what Atlas was like, learn its history, and as you know wanted a good fight, as well as some new pieces to add to my personal museum." He said gesturing to the new pieces in his collection.
Is all this true? He just did this for fun? And to learn about Atlas? That would explain why he broke into the museum, not to mention he literally demanded the security guard to get help by using the cameras.
"Well, that's all the questions you can ask but before I go, now."
Winter focused on the young man as if waiting for him to try to attack..
"Thank you for the fight, those summons you used." He held up a hand and used his Ki to shape a small Beowulf.
Winter couldn't help but flinch at the sight.
"It's not quite the same, it's just a harmless shape, originally meant for entertainment, not battle." He then squeezed his hand making it vanish. "But your summons gave me an idea for a new attack later down the line, I appreciate that."
He started levitating while carrying all his new trophies.
Winter sees his eye, it looked lit was glaring but not out of anger. Out of excitement.
"I'm looking forward to our next battle. Be sure to thank your general as well. Goodbye, Winter Schnee."
Kron then started floating while looking down at her and flew out of the abandoned warehouse.
Winter looked at her hands and squeezed her hands. She couldn't believe, how weak she was. All this power and it was useless!
She was useless!
The Schnee stood up holding her arm.
She needed to get to General Ironwood. Now.
Kron flew with his new collection.
The battle was fun, funner than expected.
But at the same time, it was disappointing. He thought that he matched that strange power, not surpassed it.
He wanted to, it felt good to be stronger than it.
Still, he might not get the fight he imagined against Raven.
Once he thought that he remembered all she did.
That alone motivated him to continue the search.
"Alright, first get out of this icy rock, then meet up with Tyrian."
That scrawny bastard better has something for him to use.
Far Away...
On an island close to Menagerie, there's an old fort that used to be under Anima's control.
Currently, there are banners of a world with three slash marks on them.
It is now the most secure White Fang base.
Over a dozen guards with hoods, all with different Faunus traits and Grimm masks patrolling around the fort ready for any attack.
Above them, a small black bird flew to the top of the fort.
Inside the fort, there was a woman sleeping in her bed.
She had black hair, and black stripes on her face and shoulders.
It was Sienna Khan.
Sienna awoke and sat up from her bed, just as the sun rises.
She glanced over at her bedside to see a metal container. She pressed the button on it and it opened.
Revealing a metal prosthetic leg, knee to foot.
She took it out and placed it on where her left leg used to be.
Sienna got out of the room and started walking.
Out of her window was a small black bird.
Sienna walked the halls of the base with a determined glare.
She opened her door and revealed a large room with many practice dummies and weights.
Her left leg was completely metallic, she proceeded with her exercise by jumping and pulling out her weapon.
The High Leader of the White Fang swung her chain blade all around her.
The training dummies' heads fell to the ground.
Sienna didn't even look the slightest bit tired.
Just then Sienna snarled and looked around. Her senses sharper than ever picked up an intruder, and from the sounds of it her guards couldn't find them either.
Sienna turned around and slashed her long blade whip.
And it was blocked by a blade, red like her student, but different.
"You?" Sienna glared as she positioned herself for a fight. "What are you doing here?"
She wasn't that surprised that they were inside, someone of their reputation could break into anything.
"I see that you know who I am."
A disciplined woman's voice spoke in the doorway, it was dark revealing only a silhouette that only Faunus eyes can see her.
Once she walked in and a light shined on her from the training room.
It was a woman dressed in red and black. With red gauntlets, a huge sheath, and a red blade. With black hair and red eyes.
The Chief of the Branwen Tribe is now face to face with the High Leader of the White Fang.
"Sienna Khan" Raven Branwen, interestingly without her famed mask, addressed her fellow victim of the Scourge of Anima. "We have things to discuss."
The two who have defeated Kron once as a child has met.
In case you were hoping for an even fight between Kron and Winter them, since Kron has been training and fighting for nine years, I doubt he wouldn't surpass a Maiden. Unfortunately that seemed to have backfired, Kron was disappointed he didn;t get to fight all out for long.
I did say he'd be OP for RWBY at the beginning of this season of the story.
But don't worry guys I have a couple tricks to ensure Kron will have not only challenge but an actual threat to him. I hope you will look forward to that and looking forward to when it's time for Kron to fight for his life.
Btw how did you like his Manticore Massacre? Think of it like his version of Wolf Fang Fist or Volleyball Fist.
Review Responces
epentoja521: Thank you, hope this one was to.
Guest: Thank you. Kron holds back a lot these days because it's the only way he can have fun in a fight anymore. Glad u enjoyed it.
2. Glad we came to the same conclusion.
3. I don't know if I'd say Winter's nowhere close to Raven, she did fight evenly with Cinder who had her power way longer and held her own against Raven.
4. In Ch 25. It was stated she hasn't learned to use her power in teams yet, in training she would always damage her support accidentally. So really they would be in the way.
5. Ya, he knew the fun was over so might as well handle what can keep him from beating them.
6. That's why I'm thinking of not giving him that anytime soon. Because of what? If your trying to type a link don't, this site doesn't let u. Wish it did.
7.I already said we are in the OG DB part of the story, I didn't forget, thought that implied it.
8. I think I have Kron's strength pretty fair, he doesn't have the opponents or training Goku had.
TheJSmooth: Well hope you enjoyed, Kron was too much for Winter.
Shadow-Proclamation8: Thank you. Wish I can say I got inspired by that scene but I didn't, maybe I remembered that subconsciously.
Lol, well it's the Ginyu Force, if they could get a show, I'm betting they would, teaching kids the values of posing. Well I was going to do the list, but then my idiot brain got confused and when I got to Elm, she's not just pretty she seems to like to fight so he might say pretty one also, she doesn't seem to be an idiot, in fact apparently her skill rivals Clover. So I chickened out cause I let myself get confused. I should've just done it, I might change it to that at some point.
ArguableReader: Lol, u gotta remember he is a Saiyan, fighting is what they love most, of course Kron would say that.
Lelouch of Zero: Lol! Glad you liked that, ya they would if they could. I debated whether to have Kron be able to force through his Freezing semblance, but I thought maybe if he holds back he can be affected. Besides, it was basically there best chance to attack him. Glad u think I did the operatives right. Every dbz fanfic has to have there share of 'that had to do it' it's tradition. Well hope it lived up to the hype.
ThatSaiyaGuy: Great to hear that you enjoyed. Kron isn't just disappointed, he was embarrassed, poor guy.
Oh no your right. Ironwood was definitely cruel to end Fria early, but at the same time he did have a point. He's like Erwin from attack on titan, he'll make any sacrifice to protect his people however cruel it is.
I can't wait to show you, the dust Hazel and Tyrian have will make things real interesting.
I think it's debatable if Winter has less skill with her powers than Raven. Cinder fought evenly with Raven, near the end their Aura was showing damage. Also at the end Raven had help from Vernal before she landed the final blow. And Winter fought Cinder without much trouble even though she only had her power for a few minutes while Cinder had hers for maybe a year. But even so it wasn't enough to take on Kron. You were right that he was annoyed though, he thought he'd finally get to have an all out battle.
You were right about that to, Raven doesn't have a combat semblance so Winter's definitely helped take on Kron.
Runeion: Glad you liked it. Ya, they are kinda similar.
They each have a brute. Recoome, Elm.
A guy who can paralyze. Guldo, Marrow.
And a speedster. Burter, Harriet.
Funny to think about.
Yep, fortune semblances can probably help for getting away from Kron but can only last so long in a fight.
Yeah, but hey at least Kron's not a murderous maniac anymore, thank god for that huh?
DBZBro: Lol, even more happy that I did that now.
Guest: I'm going to assume u and the guest below are the same. I apologize if I'm wrong.
So regarding the Wrath Form. Thing is I already kinda promised a lot of people I would do it. Including a good friend of mine who has commissioned so much more fan art than I deserve. So it'd be kind of mean if I suddenly decided not to do it. And I would love to do it. Also we don't know for sure if Broly is the only one capable of using that form. Just that he's the first to do it. And since Remnant has no dragon balls, he might need a substitute for Kaioken later in the story. But I do understand your problem, what if I have him only able to do it if he reaches certain level, like with Super Saiyan? Would that make u feel better? I know it's hard but I like to try to make all my readers happy if I can.
Now your first review, if u two are the same person, again sorry if I'm mistaken. Lol glad u enjoyed it. Hope the fight with Winter was enjoyable to. So Ch 25 and this chapter actually shows why she didn't go with the operatives. U see where she and Kron fight all over the place and how she accidently froze her own summons? That was why, she hasn't learned to be precise with her powers yet, meaning unless her support is on the same level or at long distance away from the fight she'd have to hold back not to harm her own support.
Also interesting prediction for Eclipse, we're gonna get back to him soon btw, can't wait to show you what he'll be like when Merlot's finished.
The god brothers are definitely a thing. As for how they are in this universe you'll have to wait for that. That being said there will be hints to it as the story goes on. Maybe u can piece it together in time. It's probably not going to be how you expect.
suppes1: Thank you!
I am pleasantly surprised you guys enjoyed the ginyu force joke I did. I wasn't sure how it was going to be recieved.
Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter as well and see u at the next one.
Have an awesome day!
