Crumbling Plans
Eclipse was standing making growling noises as if he was humming a tune.
His chest had a metal sphere at the center of it.
Dr. Merlot held hard Light Dust in his hand and placed it into the open sphere.
His partner seemed surprised at this.
The older scientist looked up at his creation and smiled.
"Good job, you can close it now."
Eclipse closed his chest with bone armor.
Dr. Merlot then pointed at a target.
"Now, can you use it right?"
Eclipse looked at the target and a red line formed at his head. And formed a huge mouth.
It concentrated the power core in its body.
A green light came from his mouth and fired.
The light hit the target incinerating it.
"Ha! Good boy!" Dr. Merlot laughed as he hugged his son.
Eclipse squealed in happiness.
The scientist turned to his partner and smiled.
"You see Dr. Watts? I told you this would work! Now Eclipse has a counter to the Scourge's abilities!"
Arthur coughed trying to fake not being impressed.
"Yes well, this wasn't what I thought you'd use the power core for." Dr. Watts replied. "The power core to Dr. Polendina's android was meant to store Aura, I thought you were insane enough to try to give him Aura."
Dr. Merlot looked confused as he let go of his 'son' and chuckled. "Oh dear no! A grimm with Aura? No, no!" He laughed.
His fellow scientist glared a bit embarrassed to be wrong about his assumption.
"I can see how you'd make that conclusion but no." Dr. Merlot replied. "While Eclipse may be part human, most of his body is Grimm, giving him Aura will harm him more than help him."
He explained and pressed a button to show the power core blueprints.
"The power core's original function is to store Aura and grow, basically into a new soul." Dr. Merlot explained. "I modified it to take in Hard Light Dust instead and use it as little as possible, to counter the Scourge's unique ability."
Dr. Watts couldn't help but be impressed at his colleague's work. He truly thought he was insane enough to give Aura to his Grimm creation. But instead, he was doing something more practical.
"I apologize for my incorrect judgment," Arthur admitted. "But I must ask, what is the harvest for? You said Eclipse needed it as much as we did."
Dr. Merlot frowned as he looked at his 'son' who just looked at him questionably.
"You will see soon."
The entrance to the lab opened.
Someone or rather something floated their way into the laboratory.
Once they saw the scientist politely bowed.
It was one of Salem's Seers, holding the bag Tyrian had given him.
"Your grace," Both scientists said.
The Seer's eyes opened revealing Salem who was smiling.
"Doctors, here is Tyrian's harvest."
She dropped the bag on a table.
Dr. Merlot and Dr. Watts walked up to the table and gathered the Dust inside of the bag and pulled them out.
Both counted all the Dust crystals.
"My lady, there seems to be two missing." Dr. Watts stated.
"I'm aware Tyrian has them, he's completing an errand for me."
Dr. Watts wanted to talk but his fellow scientist put a hand on his shoulder.
He glanced at his colleague with an annoyed expression but knew that it wasn't worth asking if it was wise.
"These are more than enough to start, we will have the Soul Dust he borrowed back soon," Salem spoke trying to ease Watt's worries.
Arthur nodded.
"Now then, begin the next phase of Eclipse's growth."
Eclipse tilted his head wondering what the white lady meant.
"Of course your grace we will begin immediately."
"Very well, good luck." Salem then focused on the Grimm hybrid. "And Eclipse"
The creature looked at the Grimm Queen and squealed as if he wanted to be acknowledged by the Grimm queen.
"Good luck with the ripening."
Eclipse tilted his head. "Mm?"
The Seer closed its eye showing they were done.
Dr. Merlot sighed and looked up at Eclipse as he grabbed one of the Black Dust crystals and held it up to him.
"Son, I need you to hold this, it will be a new exercise that will make you strong." He explained.
Eclipse eager to please his father touched the crystal.
But his finger started to slowly burn and he screamed.
He roared as he backed away.
"As I thought." Dr. Merlot sighed. "Eclipse, please, we need your help, if you can't do this, the Scourge will destroy all of us. You, and me."
Eclipse looked at his father and the thought of him taken from him made him whimper. He didn't want his father to leave, he didn't want the Scourge to hurt him.
They need these crystals to fight him and it's not safe until he holds them for a certain amount of time.
To ripen them.
"And remember." Dr. Merlot continued. "Your body will respond to the pain and make you more resistant to Aura, making you stronger, and more durable, and perhaps after you have ripened all the Soul Dust we have, you will fight even the Scourge."
That was enough, Eclipse put his hands out ready to help his father and 'friends' to stop the scourge from hurting them.
Dr. Merlot hesitated as he put the crystal in his hands.
Eclipse screamed as something about the crystal was causing him a great amount of pain holding it.
But as he did, the bone armor on his body grew ever so slightly.
And the noise the crystal was made that sounded like someone screaming began to quiet down ever slightly.
Ripening the harvest, will both benefit Salem's men and Eclipse
Dead End Arena
Kron had brought Slate back to the Dead End Arena, his tail swayed back and forth as he looked at Slate in a hospital bed.
Slate was on a bed being examined by the arena's medic. The champion of Dead End was blinking his eyes constantly changing color, from grey, to red, and to blue.
The medic put a device over Slate and looked at it.
Garnet scowled as she watched her prizefighter in such a way, probably since he had to miss his match today.
Once the doctor was finished he looked at the arena's manager. "Ma'am, I don't believe he'll be able to fight anytime soon." He looked at the champion. "He's suffered no trauma to the head, but his Aura, it's constantly changing between three levels."
He showed his device, it showed a bar of Aura beneath Slate's picture. It either decreases, increases or goes back in between.
"I've never seen or heard of a case like this." He sighed. "This is beyond me, we'll need to get him situated at the black market clinic, they have the equipment to do what may need to be done."
Garnet glanced at her champion who was now a drooling mess with changing eyes.
"Very well, take him, tell the doctors there to contact me if anything changes."
The doctor nodded and turned to two guards.
They took both sides of his stretcher and moved him.
Garnet walked out of the room and glanced over at Kron signaling to follow.
The Saiyan did so and looked over at her champion being dragged away somewhere.
He couldn't stop looking at his face.
He was just a drooling mess, with his eyes changing colors. Just what did he do to get these powers?
Once he was in Garnet's office he sees that she sat down with a scowl.
"So to repeat what you told me, he had two extra semblances, and enough Aura to contend with you, is that correct?" She summarized what he told her.
"Yes, I don't know how or why though. He was too focused on fighting me to tell me how he did all that."
He was so strong too. Had the fight continued he might have had to fight all out, he was already fighting him with more than half his strength. The last time he had to go that far was against Winter.
Garnet shook her head. "That's impossible."
"It's true," Kron replied as if offended that she thought he was lying.
The manager shook her head.
"I never heard of such a thing." She replied. "I have seen enhancements that amplify your Aura and drain your life span, but I've never heard of anything like multiple semblances."
That answered one thing for the Saiyan this enhancement is something brand new. And he wondered if it was made to combat him specifically.
Garnet glanced at Kron.
"For Slate to get his hands on something like that when you showed up." She sighed. "That can only mean, that whoever gave him such enhancements, knows your here."
Kron couldn't help but grit his teeth. He thought he was being careful, he hid his tail, wore regular clothes, and stayed out of any fighting he saw.
But somehow he's been discovered in just a month.
"I have an idea where you've been discovered," Garnet said. "You've avoided the areas I've suggested, so there should only be one place where someone would spot you."
The Saiyan looked at her for a few seconds and groaned.
"Tuskon's Book Trade."
His first day in Vale. And already he had been discovered! They're the only ones who saw his face.
"It's the only place I can think of." She paused and drummed her fingers. "And I have more bad news" Garnet replied and held her face.
The Saiyan looked confused at that, what could she mean?"
"Look Kron, if Slate's condition doesn't improve it might interfere with our deal."
"What?" Kron asked annoyed. "How? I told you I wasn't the one who did this to him."
The woman flinched afraid of the boy's wrath but sighed and did her best to explain.
"I know" She replied. "Slate has always held a grudge against both you and Mul of the Bloodied Sands Arena, if someone offered him power, anyone offered it to him, he would take it, he shouldn't have done that and shouldn't have challenged you." She said. "He did this to himself."
Kron growled and put his hands on her table.
"Then how does that affect our deal? You agreed to my terms and I have kept myself under the radar."
Garnet sighed.
"In order to bring Raven here, you have to capture Raven's daughter and bring her here." She began. "And this daughter, Yang Xaio-Long, is a Beacon Adamey student, and will likely be one of their best considering her records in Signal. Capturing her even for less than a day will attract the Headmaster Ozpin's attention, that will spell the end of my arena."
Kron wasn't really following this.
"What do you mean? You had no problems with my plan before except wanting me to wait a while." He pointed out. "How is capturing her a problem now?"
"Slate," She said. "My champion, this arena's main source of wealth, was going to provide the means to avoid Ozpin's gaze. One other reason I wanted to wait was to get the money I needed to pay the right authorities, rogue huntsmen, and even someone on the High Council to wipe out any evidence of my arena's involvement in her capture."
She sighed annoyed as she took a long sip of her wine.
Kron looked confused at this, he was also angry at this. If what she said was true then his dream final battle with Raven might be up in smoke.
"Why didn't you mention that before when you were trying to talk me into waiting?"
Garnet flinched a bit at his anger and tried to answer carefully.
"It's a negotiating tactic, I wanted to break you down with other reasons before telling you the actual fact of why I needed time." She stated nervously. "It was nothing personal, it's like holding back your best move in a fight so you could finish your opponent at the end, you understand right?"
Working as an underground arena manager gave her the idea to use a fighter's sense of logic.
And it seemed to have worked as he did glare but he calmed down once he saw the logic.
Kron grunted and crossed his arms. If Slate doesn't heal up, she won't get the money she needs to give him the death match he wanted.
"Can't you find another champion to take his place? Slate's not your only fighter."
She shook her head.
"I need a champion who can win consistently for a few years, many of my other warriors are around the same level, I need someone that can hold a championship for a few months to make your plan happen."
So annoying.
"Fine, what if I fight in Slate's place, I can hide my appearance and restrict myself from using my full abilities."
She really wanted to take him up on that offer, but there was a problem.
"People already know you the Scourge of Anima is here, someone in the audience might put it together, and if they figure it out rumors will spread which could get to Raven."
The Saiyan put his hand on his face.
"Which means she'll take her daughter away making it impossible to find her." He sighed at how annoyed he is.
Garnet nodded and put her hands together.
"Yes, and I can't afford you bringing that Yang girl here until Slate improves or I find a new champion, if you do, my business will be ruined, my arena will be wiped out just like the Ice Spears Arena in Solitas, you wouldn't want that would you?"
She basically begged him not to bring Yang here until this mess is sorted.
Kron rolled his eyes. "Relax, the more arenas like this the better, I won't do anything to jeopardize it."
After all, they have brought him time to kill for the past eight years.
She nodded. "Thank you"
The Saiyan grunted and glared. "So what now? Got any ideas?"
Garnet calmed herself and put a hand to her chin wondering what the next step is.
"I suggest first, we find out who gave Slate these enhancements and deal with them." She mentioned. "I don't want them causing my business any more trouble, I'll see what I can do here to find out who Slate's been talking to and let you know if I find anything.
Kron nodded, he was planning on doing that anyway, both to see who of his enemies were behind this and if there can be any more opponents with multiple semblances. That fight with Slate made him use most of his power, like a Maiden, maybe he can find someone who can make him use all of it.
Wouldn't that be the day?
"And" Garnet began. "While you were most likely spotted at Tuskon's I advise against seeing him now."
The Saiyan rose an eyebrow.
"Why not? That's obviously where I've been spotted, how else will I find the one who gave Slate these powers?"
Not to mention that he really wanted another fight and he wanted payback on whoever was interfering with his plans.
"Because if you do, you'll shake the whole nest, that place is likely always monitored by the White Fang." She explained. "They'll be on high alert knowing that you found Tuskon out annnd" She dragged out with a scoff. "They'll likely put it together that you got that info from me since they know you're staying here. And that would cause problems for me."
She was silently begging him not to go to Tuskon's and risk going to war with the White Fang.
While Kron wasn't exactly the patient type he'd prefer to keep what little chance he has of having his audience. Also, he'd rather keep the Dead End Arena in business, he always enjoyed the arenas and rather they stick around.
"So what then?"
Garnet finished her wine and offered an idea.
"What you need to do is continue to lay low while I talk to my informant in the fang." She explained. "They may be able to give us something we can use, just give me a bit of time, both for Slate's condition as well as dealing with the idiot who may have ruined my champion."
She sounded angry which was rare coming from the opportunist.
Normally Kron would complain about having to wait again but given that his chance for revenge might slip away he decided to follow through with her suggestions.
"Fine but don't keep me waiting too long."
The Saiyan was about to leave to go to the guest room.
"And another thing." She sighed. "I don't believe you should stay here, they likely know you're here so it's a danger for me and my other fighters."
The Saiyan didn't argue, he figured that was the case.
"Fine, let me get my stuff and I'll go."
He was about to leave to his room to collect them.
"Wait, here." She handed out a thin metallic device, Kron recognized it, it was a scroll, a mobile device used for communicating. "This scroll has been modified with an encrypted signal, untraceable by authorities."
Kron took it and looked at it, he hadn't used technology in a while. Too embarrassed to say that he decided he'll figure it out.
"I will send you the coordinates of one of our safehouses, most people aren't aware we have them, it should be safer than letting you stay here." She offered. "Think it of as an apology for failing to keep Slate on a tighter leash."
He took the thin device and looked at it. He's heard of a scroll before but never used one.
Not that he would admit that.
"Thanks" He replied while looking at his benefactor.
Garnet then brought up. "This is how we will communicate for a while, I will inform you if our deal is still doable and of any safe way to gain information on the White Fang."
The Saiyan nodded and went to go pick up his books.
Once he settles in his new temporary home he'll find a way to pass the time. Be extra careful about being spotted.
He'll make sure to wait for any information Garnet can give him.
But Kron held up the scroll he was given and tried pressing it, nothing was happening.
He sighed.
Once he figures out how to turn on his scroll.
Vale, bullhead to Beacon
A day had passed.
Beacon's semester was finally about to start, many students arrived to line up in the bullhead that will take these students to the world's most prestigious school.
Taiyang Xiao Long and Qrow Branwen were standing close to the entrance. They had finished their training in the Void Vault and are ready to embark on their first mission together in a long time.
But first, they wanted to see off the two they wanted to protect the most.
"I thought I'd only be seeing one of you off, not both of you." He said glancing at his daughter Ruby and then back at Yang. "Girls make sure you watch out for each other, alright?"
The blonde girl nodded. "Don't worry dad, and make sure both you and uncle Qrow be careful on your mission."
Qrow smirked at that.
"Don't worry firecracker, I'll make sure your old man comes back safe and sound."
Ruby smiled and looked at her father.
"Dad, I gotta ask, why did you decide to take missions again, didn't you like being a teacher?"
Taiyang kept his smile and placed a hand on Qrow's shoulder.
"Your uncle here was begging for my help, said he couldn't do it without me."
Qrow punched the blonde's shoulder for that making him chuckle, as the two girls giggled.
"More like you missed the action." He said and looked at the duo. "You girls make us proud alright?"
Yang had a beaming smile as she punched into her palm.
"Don't worry dad, uncle Qrow, we'll be the strongest students just like Team STRQ was."
"Yeah!" Ruby yelled giggling though a little less enthusiastic. Clearly, she was still a bit shy about going to Beacon two years earlier than expected.
Qrow chuckled as he noticed.
"Put your scythe to good use, alright Kiddo?"
"Yeah! Me and Crescent Rose are going to make you proud!" She said getting more excited.
The two adults waved a final goodbye as they watched the youngest members of their family board the bullhead and watch it fly off.
"There they go." Tai had a sad smile watching them go.
Qrow shook his head.
"Don't get all weepy now, Ruby was only going to stay for two years anyway."
Tai laughed at that.
"You're right, besides, as much as I would've preferred at least one of my girls staying home, at least now I can join you on the mission."
The reaper heard that and nodded.
"Right, guess it does work out. Should be easy with both of us, though I wouldn't mind knocking her out on my own." He admitted.
"Qrow" Taiyang interrupted. "Remember when he finds her, you let me talk to her first."
His old teammate didn't say anything but after some time in the Void Vault and watching the visions of his and Raven's childhood in the tribe. He realized that maybe there was hope to bring Raven to her senses. It's not like his own hands were clean of blood after all.
He thought of all his victims. The visions he had to ignore to progress in the Void Vault.
It took every ounce of his will to endure it, as much as he hated to admit it, if it wasn't for Tai training inside the room as well, he likely would have kept drinking to forget about his sins.
But now that he endured the room for a month, and knowing that both he and his sister could've ended up in both positions. It gave him clarity that maybe there can be another way. He doesn't believe that Raven will fight at their side, but maybe at least agree to stop the harm she's doing without resorting to her death.
"I know that Tai, but remember we have to keep an eye out for any dirty trick she might pull." He warned him. "Also she's a Maiden now, so we can't pull any punches if she gets difficult, got it?"
Taiyang squeezed his fists, he remembered the mess when Raven left. He saw the vision of how he handled it, he shouldn't have lost his temper and handled that situation better. If he had, maybe things could've been different.
Though if that were the case, he might not have had Ruby.
He shook his head and cracked his knuckles.
"I know that Qrow, but that's fine, honestly she probably understands a fight better than anything, who knows we might knock some sense into her."
Qrow nodded as the two walked to an airship.
"Glynda's given us leads on where she's headed, let's go."
Tai nodded and turned to where he saw the bullhead taking his girls.
He really wanted to stay in Vale in case anything happens.
But if Qrow is going after Raven, he wanted to be there, in case it takes two to bring her to her senses.
He calmed himself.
It will be alright, very few people know that Raven had a child.
And the boy has no reason to come to Vale in his search for Raven.
He calmed himself and walked into the airship.
The two now most powerful huntsmen in Vale have left to search for Raven.
Without knowing that their biggest concern is here in Vale.
Far Away
Raven had walked through another ruin covered in vines.
For a while, her new 'companion' hasn't been around.
Perhaps she got more of her mischief.
Whatever the case she wasn't going to let this chance alone slip.
She pulled out her map pointing her to her next treasure.
Hopefully something she can use.
Raven stood before a bunch of vines.
She waved her hand using magic to move the vines apart, and her eyes widened at what she saw next.
"Found you old hag."
It was a nine-year-old 'Monkey Faunus' that she knew very well.
Raven backed away at the sight of her greatest nightmare, she breathed quickly and was scared beyond belief.
The woman took omen out and was ready to slash at Kron's neck.
But she stopped once she noticed something.
She looked at Kron and realized that he looked the same as the last time she saw him.
He hadn't aged a day, he was still small.
Raven sighed and put her blade away.
"A new trick Cher?"
'Kron' had an evil smile but he started giggling.
The giggle sounded like a girl's voice.
The image of Kron started to shift.
Her new 'companion' appeared with her long pink hair.
"Hahahaha!" Cher laughed. "Aw, that was the best! You should've seen your face!"
Raven sighed she's been harassing her with this limited but distracting ability she has as a spirit.
She looked over to the ruins she uncovered and kept walking.
And Cher kept laughing while floating behind her at her prank finally having an effect on Raven.
"So teach, where we going next, can I see what you're looking for?" She asked as she floated through Raven's shoulder to look at the map.
Raven hid her map from Cher only to avoid her making any more snide comments than she already is.
"Aw man, your no fun." She pouted and crossed her arms. "Come on, aren't we family?"
The current Maiden squeezed her fist hearing her sin over and over again. She can't get rid of her, so she'll have to distract her a bit, and maybe get some answers that she's willing to share.
"Cher, have you always been here since, that night?"
Cher appeared and stood by her side.
"Since you killed me?" She brought up with a smile. "Yes and no."
Raven flinched a second but continued walking while Cher did even though she didn't have to.
"What do you mean?"
Cher smiled and explained.
"After I died, I floated by your side as if nothing happened, for a while I was trying to find a way to get you killed, but you couldn't see or hear me at the time so I couldn't really do anything."
Raven didn't respond, not surprised that one of her victims would want revenge.
"After a while, I felt myself getting called." She said remembering an older woman. "For a second I felt myself being pulled away from you and taken to the place you couldn't get into, the Spring City."
The black-haired woman remembered the term Spring City, it was where she could go see behind the door of the Spring Shrine.
"Once I was there, the other Maidens explained that I could either go to your side and see what your doing, or go enjoy myself in the Spring City at will."
So she can either come here or go back to this afterlife for the Spring Maidens.
"Also I went back to ask them what's going on right now, apparently whether or not the previous Spring Maiden is willing to aid you, the Spring Shrine allows the previous Maiden to be seen and heard by the current Maiden."
Raven looked curious at that.
"What would the point of that be? Why would Ozpin make that happen?"
"It was his way of punishing certain Maidens who wronged the predecessor."
Of course, it was, that damned Ozpin.
Cher giggled seeing her former teacher's eyes narrow.
"Genuis on his part right? I mean imagine if one of Salem's minions or some other backstabbing bitch like you came for this power, we'd get to enjoy having fun at their expense for the rest of their lives!"
Raven didn't comment on that, instead, she focused on the task.
Multiple vines started moving as she entered the large structure.
"Tch" She learned her lesson from the statues at the shrine and her eyes flared as she used her 'Fully Realized' state.
With a wave of her hand, the vines stopped and were covered in ice as she walked by them.
Good, there was a security measure here even if not as advanced as the statues of the Spring Shrine.
She got deeper into the building and sees something she hoped for.
It was a display with an old-looking book on it.
On the cover was a blooming flower, the symbol of spring.
Cher looked shocked at the book for a second before she grinned.
Raven walked to the book and opened it.
She cursed when she did.
"So you were looking for a grimoire huh? Tough break, I remember talking to other Maidens in the Spring City, the one who wrote the grimoires wrote it in a language that predates the one we speak."
Raven should have figured it was the case she shrugged and placed it in her bag.
"Why even take it? You'll never read it, I'm not letting you meet anyone who speaks it."
She liked pointing out that she can help but won't. That was something she can accept.
"There are people that can translate it, I'll just have to find them."
"Good luck finding someone who will, Ozpin could probably." She chuckled. "Though with all you've done, I doubt he'd be willing."
Raven didn't reply as she pulled out another map, but before she opened it she looked at Cher.
"So you weren't there the whole time, how much of my life have you seen?"
Cher grinned.
"I sensed you were in danger and decided to see what was happening." She gave a smile like she had won a prize. "God, you have no idea how long I waited to see you fall apart like that."
The black-haired woman didn't show a reaction to that.
"So you don't know Kron as I do, yet you root for him to kill me."
"Pfft, that's all I need Raven," Cher replied. "I don't care who he is, if he wants you dead, then that's good enough for me to cheer for him."
Raven understood that she robbed this girl of her life and wouldn't blame her for feeling that way. She won't hold it against her for wanting her dead. But there was one thing she remembered about Cher that might help her.
"Wouldn't you be interested in knowing more about Kron, what he was like growing under my care?"
Cher raised an eyebrow at that. "What do you mean?"
Raven followed up by asking another question.
"I remember back at the Shrine you said that you can see my past if I allowed you to." She pointed at her head. "I give you my permission, would you like to see who Kron is?"
Cher looked at her former teacher for a few seconds and thought that this was a good chance to see her suffer more. But she turned around and chuckled.
"Nice try, I know you, you're trying to manipulate me into helping you, I doubt you could since I can see the absolute truth, but I'm not giving you the chance.." She replied. "No thanks, all I need to know is that he wants you dead."
Raven didn't respond to that she only shrugged and kept walking.
"Just remember, my mind is open to you, whenever you wish." The former bandit lord said as she pulled out another treasure map in search of a new artifact.
Cher scoffed as her teacher kept walking and she thought of new possible ways to torture her teacher.
Raven pulled out another treasure map.
This next artifact wasn't Maiden exclusive and should be useful in enticing Sienna.
Beacon's semester has started, she'll need to see if she's now interested in their alliance.
Kron's Safehouse
Days passed and Kron had settled into his new temporary home.
It was a small house made for one.
Wasn't bad, it was all he needed, he missed his spacious cave in Anima where he can look at all his trophies. But it's fine, at least he had another place to stay low.
The Saiyan got inside and thought of the situation.
He originally was going to let the White Fang be. But if they were going to interfere in his plans they couldn't be ignored.
And if they did that means someone who recognizes him must be in the fang. Who would it be?
Ghira, Adam, Sienna, or Blake?
If Blake was here trying to get rid of him then maybe he should just knock out this Yang girl, get his revenge, and be done with it.
He didn't want to get in her way after everything and didn't want her to ruin his revenge.
But at the same time, he wondered if he would find anyone with those extra powers Slate had.
If he can find a White Fang member with multiple semblances then he'll know they're involved.
His heart was beating and his blood boiled.
Maybe this wasn't so bad after all, he was excited at the thought of these disturbances.
Funny he was thinking of doing a little experiment to get a new challenge.
Something he's been thinking of since his battle with Sepia. To prepare stronger opponents in the future after he kills Raven.
But recent events show him that maybe that's not necessary, at least not yet.
Besides, he doesn't even know if his experiment would work anyway.
For now, he'll just have fun dealing with whoever had a problem with him.
He was still annoyed that he had to wait but luckily his books keep him occupied.
Now he'll just get something to eat and decide how to proceed with these new events.
Black Market Clinic
Slate was drooling as two doctors were looking over the machines.
They studied him trying to figure out how to get him back to normal.
"Agh!"
One doctor fell to the ground.
The others turned, and one was slashed in the throat.
And the last one had a large scorpion stinger on his face.
Both of them dropped dead as the scorpion Faunus walked in front of Slate's hospital bed.
"Ahh, found you can't keep the goddess waiting." He grabbed Slate and held him over his shoulder, he ran off hearing guards running to figure out what was going on.
Tyrian had carried the champion of Dead End on his back away from the underground clinic and placed him on the ground in an alleyway.
Salem's most devoted servant looked down at the drooling confused looking champion.
"You have performed spectacularly my little pawn, thank you for fulfilling what the goddess needed."
Slate only groaned and drooled.
"Oh, what's that, you want to still provide for our goddess?" He smiled. "If you insist."
Tyrian then stabbed his blade into his throat.
The champion didn't seem to react as the blood left his neck.
As he bled he stopped drooling and something started happening.
Light began to appear as it did when Tyrian held an empty Soul Dust over him this time though Tyrian wasn't holding anything over him.
And the corpse aged and became skin and bone.
Tyrian then savagely cut open the corpse's chest.
Once he was cut Tyrian pulled out two familiar Dust crystals.
"There you are you two.." He held up two Soul Dust crystals and the writing can be seen on them.
One was labeled, Double Impact, and the other was labeled Projection.
The two Soul Dust crystals he had Roman give him to test.
"And now, for the bonus."
He once again placed his hand inside the wound and pulled out another Soul Dust crystal.
Soul Dust not only reform in his body at death, but they also convert the Dust that the user already has in his body form into another Soul Dust crystal with the host's soul trapped within.
The face of Slate screaming can be seen in the crystal and he screamed
"Welcome aboard comrade." Tyrian chuckled as he held up the new Soul Dust crystal. "Oh, should label this before I take it for Eclipse to ripen."
He took out a marker and labeled it, 'Mirror Force'.
Restaurant In Vale
Kron was eating at a restaurant just devouring a table of food.
He hadn't found a damn thing. He wanted to head to Tuskons to force info out of the Faunus there but he wanted to be certain.
What if they decide to go public about him being here? Why haven't they done that?
He swallowed a sandwich and realized something.
They must have plans that can't involve raising alarm bells as he does. So they're trying to remove him quietly.
that must be it.
If that's the case maybe he shouldn't be so worried about this after all.
True he may not get the attention he wanted for his deathmatch with Raven but at least he hasn't been discovered by anyone important yet.
Then there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
"Wow, you can really put it away."
A young woman's voice spoke from behind the Saiyan.
He rolled his eyes and just kept eating.
"Hey, come on didn't you hear me?" The young woman said as he tried to eat. "Hey, I just want to talk!"
He rolled his eyes and swallowed his food.
Someone wanted to get between him and his meal. They might have a death wish.
He turned around with a bored expression, but his eyes widened at who approached him.
Golden hair, short sleeve brown jacket, purple eyes.
"What you see something ya like?" She winked.
Yang Xiao Long was standing right behind him while he was eating.
Kron felt his scar burn looking at her face, she looked quite a bit like Raven.
He wanted to punch her and now.
The blonde held up her scroll at the sitting Saiyan's eye level.
"Is that why you're looking for me?"
Her scroll displayed a picture of Kron talking to Junior.
"Our friend here said you might know someone I'm looking for." Yang smiled.
Kron said nothing only glancing at the picture she was holding.
Did Junior sell him out to her? He thought she owed Garnet.
Wait, he remembered. Garnet said something about him having a problem with her, thinking she hustled him. Was this his way of screwing her over?
He sighed annoyingly.
"Damn it, Junior."
He just ruined his plan even more!
Yang chuckled at that.
"Hey don't be too mad at him." She punched her hand into her palm. "I had to really rough him up before he started talking."
Kron remembered the video he watched, how she destroyed Junior's club. Pretty good hand-to-hand.
It's been too long since he fought someone fist-to-fist.
"So I've got questions for you, you got time right?" She cracked her knuckles with a smirk.
Kron didn't respond only looked at Raven's daughter. The Saiyan's under a lot of stress from his planning failing, maybe fighting one round with her will ease him. Maybe he'll just knock her out and fight Raven now that he's already been discovered. But the small chance of his audience was tempting.
He had so many options and more than a few worries. He wasn't sure what to do now.
The daughter Raven had given birth to and abandoned, and the boy she had raised and betrayed, have finally met.
Wow, Kron's might've lost his audience and his target has found him.
Now that his plan isn't playing out, he might just knock out Yang and get his revenge right now.
Or since he doesn't know about Slate's 'retirement' he might just have a round with her and run.
Also with Qrow and Tai leaving to find Raven she might be in a tough spot if he decides to knock her out.
Who knows. (I do.)
Just so everyone knows where in the RWBY timeline we are a couple days, so Team RWBY has been formed at this point. And we are still in Volume 1.
Now to explain the ripening. Basically it's to make the Soul Dust more effective and Eclipse, get's stronger the more he forces himself to hold Soul Dust crystal which are concentrations of Aura and that is harmful to Grimm.
So the Soul Dust will be far more dangerous and safer to use. And of course Eclipse's upgrades will be finished. (For now)
And also surprise, Soul Dust can be recycled. And it makes a new Soul Dust crystal from the user. Now someone on Salem's side is getting Mirror Force.
Also they have other semblances that will be ready for use at some point.
Hope u guys look forward to that.
Review Responces.
epantoja521: Glad you liked it, and don't worry he will with them.
Guest: Yep
Darkpyruz: Thank u.
has a broken moon, not enough blutz waves.
2. Zenkais will be small for now, Kid Goku almost died plenty of times but didn't seem to gain much from zenkais. Though to be fair, zenkai's weren't a thing but it's still canon that we didn't see him gain much with Zenkais alone so Kron can't just rely on Zenkai's alone right now.
Greetings from USA.
Guest: Yep, she just doesn't like how he showed up at a bad time.
Yes, Kron has a soft spot for Blake.
I'm already removing Adam's obsession with Blake, I won't change him too much further from his canon counterpart. I'm thinking of making him like Magneto, u kind of see where he's coming from but he goes too far.
Hope you've enjoyed the story so far.
Guest: Thank you, but I'm perfectly happy with what I've planned and politely decline your idea. Good luck with your story.
ThatSaiyaGuy: Thank you, I had fun writing it. And you are right, once the Soul Dust they harvested has ripened their gonna be a major problem.
Ya it was they didn't even know what was happening. But now their still trapped in their Dust crystals that Tyrian 'collected'. Poor Slate. Unfortunately, it looks like Yang found him. Junior screwed him over lol.
Also glad I decided to have Kron ignore that now that u enjoyed it.
Cinder really wants Kron out of Vale, so it might not involve her going after him physically. Adam though has a solution we'll have to see how that pans out. Also that's true, maybe, we'll see.
Well he's met Yang now, so it's only a matter of time before he reunites with Blake and meets the other two. Good guess though.
Guest: Lol, to be fair she doesn't know what he'll do if she does her plan while he's here, so that's why she feels like she can't ignore him. Also at least she's not attacking him directly, now THAT would be dumb.
randomreader: He pretty much is. He already knows he's discovered anyway so what's the harm? Though he still intends to not be open about it.
Runeion: Well as you can see, Salem has a way to undo the negative effects, she just wanted to test the Soul Dust at their weakest. Huh, maybe, well see.
Stormzy: Glad you enjoyed so far.
Guest: Good point, we'll see.
Bashleyz: Possibly, we'll have to see how their first meeting goes.
Lelouch of Zero: Good points, and here's your answer. They can be reused, just kill the user and you gain an extra Dust crystal of their soul. Interesting predections though, they'll be gaining more uses later. Also here's the ripening, hope u liked it. Also glad you enjoyed the uses of Soul Dust and Kron's ability in the fight. Also well, Garnet doesn't have much of a choice, she needed Slate to get the money to pay the right people. So she either needs a new champion or she'll ruin her business if Kron captures her in her arena. Also thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed.
Guest: Thx. We'll see.
Bobby: He probably would justify it by saying it was for the cause lol.
Guest: Well this is Soul Dust at it's weakest, it's a bit more effective after they ripen.
arroyl: Adam's more focused on gaining power since what he saw as a child. Thought that'd be better than have him obsess over Blake like a creep. Also, Kron wasn't holding back most of his power. If he bleeds, that means he was at least using most of it. Plus, that was what they can do at their weakest.
anon9919: Can't argue with that.
Ok, so remember after my next chapter I will start another break. Just wanted to let you all know ahead of schedule.
Anyway thank you for your time.
Have an Awesome Day! :)
