Cooking With Susie
"It's the Pickles Doorstopper 3000!" Stu said proudly, gesturing at the small metal arm he'd mounted on the door. Didi, Betty, and the babies were all watching as he demonstrated his newest invention. "There are small lasers set up on the doorframe here, and here." He pointed at one that was about a foot off the ground and another that was about 4 feet high. "Now, if I walk up to the door…" Stu did so and nothing happened. "Remains open. But…" He suddenly grabbed Tommy, the baby letting out a yelp of surprise. "Lets say that baby wanders off-"
Tommy pouted at that. He was a big boy!
"-and heads towards the garage." He gave Tommy a slight bap on the bottom, inching him forward. Tommy frowned… but there was a lot of fun stuff in the garage! Lots of cool dusty things and dirt and smells… he could have the most amazing adventure ever!
With a giggle Tommy began to run for the door.
There was a slight grinding noise and then suddenly the door shut right in front of Tommy, preventing him from getting into the garage!
"If someone is shorter than the second light it automatically shuts the door!"
"Well, it's a bit complex," Didi admitted, "but I could see it have uses."
"I'm thinking it would be nice for daycares and the like."
Tommy though stared at the closed door. His daddy had made something to keep big boys out of places so they couldn't have fun adventures? But… but…
He began to whimper, going over to the door and beating on it with his palms.
"Aw, come on champ, let's get you back to the living room."
And later when Susie presented her Reptar Bars Didi had one first (to make sure they were okay for the babies) and when she realized Susie had mixed up the recipe quickly worked to help her make a corrected batch.
