Chapter 15 Forgotten…Not Gone (Amnesia)
A.N. – So, the title of this chapter is based on what Ulrich experiences throughout this chapter. This proves no matter what, Ulrich will always be a Lyoko Warrior at heart. So, let's begin! P.S. Multiple viewpoint changes in this chapter.
Short Summary – Aelita and Xana decide to take out the Lyoko Warriors indirectly. By using nano viruses, Xana plans to affect them all by disbanding and separating them. But Ulrich soon proves that nothing can separate them.

The last few weeks have been nothing but a string of bad luck for both sides. Xana and Aelita both had to deal with failures as well as repercussions from recent attacks. Jeremy has now doubled his efforts to try to rematerialize Aelita as soon as possible so they can stop Xana. But the Lyoko Warriors are more concerned that Xana is gonna do something that will eventually end them. Even though Aelita wouldn't let that happen, some attacks have been too close to call.
Just before Aelita left after the last attack, she noticed some nano equipment being delivered to the school to be used in a science demonstration. Aelita knew this could be the edge that her and Xana needed to attack them indirectly. She headed out to discuss the attack.
"These nano technology creatures open possibilities" Aelita says hoping Xana will get the message.
"But I still guess you want non-lethal?" Xana questions her.
"Exactly, but you should be able to find some way to help disband them."
"I got an idea. And thanks to the help of the nano technology, it will be ready by the time their science class begins."
Aelita left Lyoko to see the effect of Xana's use of nano technology.
The group has just gotten out of class and Aelita has converged with them. "So, what awaited you today in the world of Kadic Academy?"
"Nano technology. We all think it's boring, but Einstein is overjoyed," Ulrich answers. "And Xana?"
"Quiet, for now."
"Nano technology is a field I'd like to study in the future" Jeremy tells them all.
After graduation, Jeremy was undecided on where to head off too. He wanted to expand on quantum physics but also had a passion for technology. So, he decided to combine the two. After he graduated with a four-year degree, he was able to develop the Lyoko bands with his knowledge of quantum physics and technology.
Ulrich opens a chocolate bar and Odd asks him for some of it. He says sure before placing it on his forehead. Everyone laughs and Aelita was sure it had something to do with something that happened in class. After Odd complains, Ulrich grips his head and collapses with Odd and Yumi catching him. Jim arrives hearing all the commotion.
"What's going on around here?" Jim asks.
"It's Ulrich! He's passed out!" Yumi tells him.
"I'll take him to the infirmary." Jim picks him up and rushes to the nurse's office.
"He was just fine this morning" Odd says. Aelita begins to think if this is Xana's nano viruses. But what he was using them for was still a mystery.
Ulrich's Point of View
Ulrich started to finally wake up. When he came too, he didn't know where he was or who he was. Everything about him or where he was is a complete blank. He looked over and saw a black-haired girl he didn't recognize. "Where am I?' he asks.
"In the infirmary. You passed out' the black-haired girl answered.
"Infirmary? What infirmary?" Ulrich looked at himself in the mirror and couldn't remember anything. "Who am I? What's my name?"
"Uh, Ulrich."
"Ulrich?" He asks in confusion.
"You must have hit your head when you fell down."
"And who are you?"
"Me? I'm Sissi. Your sweetheart."
Once this girl Sissi, says that Ulrich sees flashes of him not being at all attracted to Sissi. But the flashes end he decides to go with it since he didn't know what these flashes mean. "My sweetheart?"
The nurse walks in. She notices Ulrich is okay and Sissi assures her. Before she can say anything, they dash off and Jim carries another student.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita walks with the rest of the group as they see Ulrich with Sissi. "Either this is a nightmare or somehow Sissi stole Ulrich's heart" Aelita points out.
The group all looked over and even Aelita was more confused. There were times Ulrich sacrificed himself to use Sissi to his advantage and the advantage of the group, but never this far. They all go towards him.
"Hey, feeling better good buddy?" Odd asks.
"Who are you? Leave me alone creep!" Ulrich violently lashes back at Odd.
Aelita intervenes before Ulrich could potentially punch him. "Okay, calm down hothead. I don't know what happened to you, but that's no reason to lash out at your friends" Aelita tells him.
"Listen, he doesn't care about you or all of you for the matter of fact. So just leave us alone!" Sissi tells Aelita as she walks away with Ulrich.
"What's the matter with him?" Odd asks literally confused.
'Could these be the effects of the nano virus?' Aelita thought knowing that if amnesia is the cause it could work in their favor, but also knowing that this could also lead to serious consequences.
Ulrich's Point of View
Sissi leads Ulrich over to her group of friends and convinces him that Nicolas and Herb are his best friends. After this, Sissi then leads Ulrich to the park for a quick walk. Ulrich was still lost, but he didn't know what to think. He didn't even remember any of them.
Aelita's Point of View
"He didn't even recognize us, it's crazy! It could be amnesia" Jeremy tells them.
"Maybe the nurse has the answers" Yumi suggests.
"You guys go investigate that, and I'll spy on Ulrich" Odd suggests.
"No, I'll do it" Aelita interjects.
"Why you?"
"Because out of all of you, he can't touch me."
Aelita heads off in the direction to find Sissi and Ulrich. But she really wanted to see if these viruses have any more effects. Anything that could help her, and Xana's cause was necessary for her to exploit.
Aelita eventually found them and hid around a tree to get the best view of them. Sissi cared for him, like a normal girlfriend. Even though Ulrich blew her off multiple times, she never gave up. "She never gives up. Give her an A for effort, but and F for success."
Ulrich hears this and turns around. "Hey, who's there!?"
"What? I can't walk around in the park. I thought it was open to everyone" Aelita tells the two.
"Hey, you're part of that group. Maybe you should leave now while you got the chance."
"Or what? You can't touch me. And neither can I so consider yourself lucky."
"I can always try!" Ulrich tries to rush her, and she just stands there, but Sissi pulls his arm back.
"Ulrich, she's right! You could get into major trouble for fighting an adult, especially a girl. You could suspended or expelled! Let's just move on."
"Stay away from me!" Ulrich tells her threateningly.
Aelita didn't think the passive aggressive behavior was a side effect, but it was for sure he had forgotten everything about being a Lyoko Warrior. Aelita smiled, actually happy that one of Xana's attacks was working.
Aelita heads back and sees the rest outside. "Any luck?"
"Almost everyone in the school is infected. What about you?" Jeremy asks.
"Ulrich has forgotten everything. Complete amnesia. You'll be lucky if he comes back."
"I wonder what's happened?" Yumi asks.
"Too bad those nano doctors don't exist yet. We could really use those to find out what's wrong."
"Nano doctors? I think I may have an idea. Let's head to the science lab" Jeremy says.
The four rush over and when they arrive, they see Ms. Hertz in the same position as Ulrich, completely passed out. Jeremy takes a piece of the stuff they all studied this morning and finds the source of the amnesia. Even Aelita is amazed at what Xana has created.
"What are those things?" Odd asks.
"They're nano viruses. They must have been created by Xana to attack memory cells" Jeremy explains.
'So that's how he did it. Clever. This could become a problem if he is becoming more intelligent' Aelita thought.
"That means it is contagious!" Yumi says.
"And we avoided contact with Ulrich, so we avoided getting affected" Aelita adds. Now knowing what this was, she was certain that the others weren't going to suffer the same fate. Sad to say that this attack was also a bust, but it was a step in the right direction.
"Also, this can spread like any other viruses. We got to stop this before the whole world suffers."
Even though Aelita knew Xana would never go that far, Xana might eventually figure out having a mindless army of minions might be his best way to conquer the world before his escape. The four rushed off to save everyone…including Ulrich.
Ulrich's Point of View
Ulrich walks around the dorm building, seeing it void of life, almost like something came through and took everyone in a frenzy. A boy runs and Ulrich stops him. "Is my room around here?"
"Huh? Has everyone gone crazy around here? Third door on the right" the boy responds before running off.
Ulrich opens the door and sees Kiwi chasing his tail. He goes down to pet him. "I don't know who you are, but it seems we're friends." Ulrich then eyes a picture of him and his friends. He then hears laughter in his head.
Aelita's Point of View
The four run to the passage in the park and they see Milly and Tamiya infected. Aelita's fear grows with each infected student they see. It's only a matter of time before it spreads to the city. "We got to hurry. If this spreads into the city…" Aelita starts.
"Then Xana will have full control" Yumi finishes.
Ulrich's Point of View
Ulrich walks around the courtyard to see more students, even the principal, affected by the amnesia. "What's going on around here?" Ulrich then gets more flashes and this time it's him with Yumi. The most significant one is the time he gave her a rose. He continues on like he's going somewhere with a weird intuition.
Aelita's Point of View
Odd pulls the cover and they all climb down. They all race over to the factory, and they all descend in the elevator. Jeremy enters the lab. He contacts current Aelita. "Aelita, are you there?" Jeremy says.
"I didn't see anything in the desert or forest regions" current Aelita responds.
"Okay, head over to the mountain sector and Odd, Yumi, and A will be sent to the ice sector. We gotta find this tower."
Ulrich's Point of View
Ulrich is walking in the park, and he hears voices about Aelita, and a passage in the park. When Ulrich snaps out of it, he looks down and sees the manhole cover.
Aelita's Point of View
The three of them step into scanners and Jeremy virtualizes them to the ice sector. "Take the access on your right and try to locate the tower" Jeremy informs them. They all run in the direction that Jeremy tells them. Aelita tries to figure out how to help them without fighting Xana.
Ulrich's Point of View
Ulrich walks through the tunnels. He has no idea where to go but he continues like he does. He has more memories come back to him, but he arrives at the ladder which leads to the factory bridge.
Aelita's Point of View
As the three come out of the tunnel, Odd notices a krab. "Watch out!" Yumi takes the hit while Aelita takes to the sky.
"Yumi, that's 20 life points down!" Jeremy tells her.
"Yeah, we got a welcoming committee" Yumi comments.
"If Xana's monsters are here, it only means we are in the right place" Aelita adds.
"Okay, I'll tell Aelita" Jeremy tells them.
The krab then notices Aelita in the sky and shoots at her wings. The shot disables her flight, and she crashes landing hard.
"Hey you!" Yumi says as she runs up, throws her fan, and destroys the monster. "That will teach you to shoot my friends out of the sky!"
"You okay?" Odd asks.
"Just a bit sore and winded. Caught me by surprise" Aelita responds.
Ulrich's Point of View
Ulrich enters the elevator in the strange building and descends down. He eventually stops and enters the lab.
"Ulrich!" Jeremy notices him.
"Where am I? What kind of place is this?" Ulrich asks.
"Listen, I can't explain right now. We've got an emergency."
"Look, I don't know what this is, but I feel like I have something to do here, so just tell me."
"Okay, head on down. I'll send to Lyoko and maybe you'll relearn all your fighting skills."
"What's Lyoko?"
"Just head down one level, enter one of the cabins and then I'll do the rest."
Ulrich uses the ladder to access the scanner room.
Aelita's Point of View
"Listen guys," Jeremy tells them. "Aelita is waiting on the other side of the glacier. And Ulrich is also coming."
"You guys go. I'll stay behind and wait for the bold hero" Aelita tells them.
"You sure? He might blow you away" Odd asks.
"He'll have to try really hard to do so. In any case, it will probably have to be me to stop from blowing him away."
The two run off and Ulrich virtualizes in Lyoko. He lands on his butt. "Ouch!"
"Welcome back Ulrich. We were beginning to miss you" Aelita tells him.
"Hey, you're that chick from earlier."
"Yup, and I'm here to teach you a few things. You want to fight me, well now's your chance." Aelita focuses and summons her own sword.
"Hey no fair!"
"You have one too genius."
Ulrich looks and sees his stored.
"Let's begin! Show me what you got." Ulrich rushes her and she quickly dodges and nails him with an elbow. He grunts as he kneels. "Lesson one, don't rush your enemies like a bull. Try to be elusive to be unpredictable and almost unhittable. Always keep your enemy guessing." Ulrich tries to counter her, but she blocks. She sweeps his legs before kicking him. "Lesson two, be quick or your enemy will defeat without a problem." Aelita was having fun, reteaching Ulrich all the moves he taught her after William fell victim to Xana. Ulrich gets up and tries to think of a way to hit her. He runs at her again and instead of trying to hit her, he jumps over her. When he tries to land a blast, she quickly blocks. "You taught yourself lesson three, fake out your enemies if possible."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"If you can convince your enemy on one thing, you turn it around on them and make them execute their combo that was meant for the move you convinced them of doing. But I know you better than you think. Now for the final lesson, let's duel!"
Ulrich and Aelita were dealing blows and sparks were flying with each blow. Aelita tried to slice him by the neck, but he ducked and kicked her. She went flying but landed on her feet and slid to a stop. Ulrich came rushing at her and he hit her before she could counter. He puts his saber on her neck.
"Looks like you lose."
"I do, but you're ready for a field exercise. Follow me." Aelita runs off and Ulrich follows her. The two of them arrive at the tower's location.
"Whoa! What are those things?"
"Monsters, created by Xana. Quick tip, hit the eye on top of their shell. Protect the others, including the girl with the pink hair."
Ulrich engages them as future Aelita hangs back. Ulrich goes in and dodges the lasers. He jumps up and lands on the krab. "Impact!" He jumps before the monster explodes. The final krab spots him and Yumi sacrifices herself or him. "What happened to her?"
"Don't worry about it. Protect Aelita!" Odd tells him.
The krab aims at her and Ulrich speeds over to her and blocks the laser. Ulrich runs and the krab tries to fire directly at him. He then slides before the krab hits him. He stabs it from the bottom, and it explodes clearing the path.
"Thanks for clearing the way" current Aelita tells him.
"Where is she going?" Ulrich asks.
"Oh, nowhere important" future Aelita tells them.
"Where were you in this fight?" Odd asks.
"Had to test my student and he passed."
"If all of Ulrich's classes were in fighting, he would be a straight A student."
The tower deactivates and the time is reset.
Ulrich's Point of View
Time is reset to the science class and Ms. Hertz is explaining the nano bots again. She takes off the lid from the nano environment. "Strange, it hasn't been cleaned properly. There's gelatin inside" Ms. Hertz says.
"Looks like the greasy stuff Odd puts in his hair every day" Ulrich comments.
"Since you're so clever Ulrich, why don't you take a sample for us to examine." He takes a sample like last time. "This is used as a culture where nano devices can develop."
"Looks a lot like jam. Let's try cooking it." He turns to the burner and burns the tube and the gel.
"Ulrich, how dare you! Destroying school equipment! I'm gonna give you a punishment you won't ever forget!"
"Oh, I hope so. I don't want to forget about this."
The group laughs after the experience they just had with Xana's nano viruses.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita returned to Lyoko to inform Xana of his most recent attack. "I'm surprised with the outcome of this attack."
"But it still failed" Xana responds.
"I know. We didn't reach enough of a large scale. On top of that, everyone but those three didn't get infected. If we want to hit them all, we have to do it on a larger scale. The nano bots were a good start, but we need more."
"This world still has resources we can exploit."
"Then let's sit on this for now."
