(A/N): Hey Guys! Last chapter of Fourth year! Woo! Alright, plotwist-y thing coming up pretty soon, so yeah... And this chapter is over 1,000 words!

I was listening to 'Loved Me Back to Life' by Celine Dion while writing this.

Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognise.

Remus

It was the last day of fourth year.

Lily had finally learnt not to leave her packing to the last minute and was relaxing with Leo, Elaine and I in the common room while the other Marauders scrambled to pack for the summer upstairs.

Speaking of Elaine...

Leo had told me about the letter she received from her father, and how he had set Shari to watch over her and her family while he couldn't.

I couldn't help but be worried.

I mean, even though Shari was a vampire, there was a possibility, though slight, that Elaine would get hurt because of something her father had done.

That made me so angry.

Leo had been hurt because of something his mother had done.

I was furious about that.

I had been hurt by something my father had done.

I wasn't angry about that at all.

My father may have been responsible for Fenrir Greyback attacking me as a child, but he had not actually inflicted pain on me, nor had he intentionally caused the attack, and he had apologised to me so many times since then that I not even had resentment in my heart for the man who had technically caused by condition.

After so many times of having him sob into my shoulder after a full moon, or just at random times of the month when it struck him what he had done, I couldn't be angry. I couldn't hate him.

And here Elaine and Leo were.

Leo heavily disliked his mother for the threats she had made to us, his friends.

But he didn't hate her.

Not for what she did to him, anyway.

And Elaine? As far as I knew, she didn't hate her father.

She was certainly bitter towards him, but hate? I didn't think so.

These people- their parents respectively- had intentionally hurt them- tried to kill them! And yet, they didn't hate them.

No matter how much danger they were put in.

I didn't understand it, and I knew I probably never would.

I mean, I knew Leo's was at least partially respect- respect for the woman who had tried to murder him on various occasions, ha!

Elaine had no such excuse.

Unless it was fear.

Fear and the memory of better times, maybe.

Either way, I was glad that they had decided to tell me about their respective stories of parental abuse. I was glad that Leo had enlisted Shari to watch over Elaine. And I was most definitely glad that Leo himself was watching over Elaine.

Because I knew, with the look of adoration and pure, unadulterated love he was giving her right now, that nothing would ever hurt again. Not while he was around.

Leo

I was sitting on one of the couches in the common room, Elaine stretching out across the rest of it, her head in my lap, and one of my hands gently stroking her hair as I stared down at her.

Luckily, she was distracted, talking to Lily and Remus, and I got to marvel at her all I wanted.

Her dark brown hair reached to the bottom of her shoulder blades now, though she usually had it in a ponytail or bun, and was just about the softest thing I had ever encountered.

Other than her skin that is.

I skimmed the creamy white flesh of her cheek, brushing a thumb to the corner of her lips. They were plump, with a well defined arch at the top, and were the colour of cinnamon.

Her nose was perfectly straight and curved up a little bit at the end to give the appearance of the end of an elves' shoe, and her jaw was curved, but strong.

Her eyes however, were what really stole the show.

They were big and brown, the lashes long and dark, and even with dark circles under them, they were beautiful. The colour was stunning though.

When people usually describe eyes like hers, they say 'warm', or 'knowing'. What I see though... I see the eyes of someone who actually cares. Who watches over everyone they meet. Who protects and loves people. At the same time though, I see the cold darkness caused by the almost black circle around the actually rather light brown of her eyes.

It gave her the appearance of having dark brown eyes, but they were just light brown with darker rims. With my enhanced sight, I examined her eyes more closely, picking out all different shades of brown- and noticing a few flecks of green I had never seen before.

That, that made me smile.

My hand stopped stroking her hair as I fixated on her eyes, memorising all the little flecks of colour, and then her eyes met mine.

"You have green in your eyes." I blurted to her questioning look, and I heard the others snicker, the boys having finished packing now.

I tried to tune into the conversation as I started stroking her hair again, and a few minutes later, I heard her sigh slightly.

Looking down, I met her eyes, and found her staring at me, much like I had been her just a few moments earlier.

"What?" I whispered, and she shook her head slowly.

"You have green in your eyes as well." I beamed at her, but at that moment, Minnie bustled through the Common room, clapping her hands loudly.

"You're all supposed to be in the Entrance Hall by now, go, go, go!" I shook my head out of amusement, not noticing my hand was still entwined with Elaine's until we found Brooke in the Entrance Hall, and her eyes fell on them.

Subtly, I took my hand back, moving closer to my actual girlfriend.

"Did you have a good breakfast?" She leaned around me to eye Elaine.

"Seems like you did." She said, and I flushed lightly.

"Shush, I didn't even realise." She raised an eyebrow at me, and I shrugged. "Call me oblivious all you like, I honestly didn't notice." She rolled her eyes, flashing me a smile.

"Don't worry about it Leo. I'm your pre-bound girl, remember?" She was smiling, but the way she said it, and the glint in her eyes, told me she wasn't as happy with the idea as she made it seem.

"You're my girlfriend Brooke. I shouldn't be doing- that- with other girls, even if it is unintentional." She gave me a weak smile, and I slung an arm over her shoulder.

"Honestly, it's like you two have magnets on you, and you're just forced to cling to each other. It's not even a choice any more, it's just the way of life for you." I pursed my lips, shrugging.

"You're probably right. But god it's nice." I looked down at her, and she smiled, seeming genuinely glad that I was happy for once.

"You know what else is nice?" I humoured her, shaking my head, and she leaned up on her tippy toes. "This." She said, pressing her lips to mine, and I smiled against her mouth.

"That is nice." I agreed when she pulled away a few seconds later, and watched as she bit her bottom lip. "But you know what's nicer?" She didn't have time to reply, eyes widening as I dipped her, low, and kissed her long and sweet to the sound of people hooting around us.

"That?" She asked breathlessly as I returned us to the upright position, and I nodded, smirking slightly.

"Oh yes." She giggled quietly, and I intertwined my fingers with hers as the crowd of students started to move around us. "This is pretty great as well." A grin crept onto my lips. "And this." I said, spinning her in a circle, narrowly avoiding bumping into a sixth year as I did so before pulling her close to my chest, pecking her on the cheek.

"Leo!" She exclaimed, giggling none too quietly, and Remus patted me on the shoulder as he passed.

"Come on Romeo and Juliet, we have a train to catch." I rolled my eyes at his back before spinning Brooke again, this time in the right direction, and leading her to catch up with the others.

(A/N): So, what did you think?

A bit of Remaine (sort of), a bit of Eleo (sort of) and a bit of Breo.
