Jinora

"Are you nearly there yet?"

Ikki's question cut into Jinora's concentration, causing the elder girl to roll her eyes.

"No! And I won't be unless you be quiet!" She told her angrily.

Asami was away, at the palace to discuss potential investments with the King of Omashu, and so the Airbenders had returned to the airship. The day had not been very successful; Ikki and Meelo had had a fight, but no matter how many people they asked, nobody had seen Korra. The trail, it seemed, had gone dry as soon as they had started down it. But Jinora had one more trick up her sleeve, provided Ikki shut up for long enough for her to use it.

She sighed and leaned back slightly, before concentrating on trying to empty her mind and focus. She managed it for another ten seconds before-

"Are you there now?"

"No, Ikki! Where's Meelo anyway?"

"I don't know," her sister responded. "Do you want me to get him?"

Jinora didn't particularly need to speak to him, but this did present an opportunity.

"Yes, could you go and get him please?" She smiled. Ikki nodded, suddenly serious, and rushed away. Jinora closed the door to her cabin after her and sighed.

"Do you want me to lock the door?" Kai asked. He was sitting across from her, to make sure nothing happened to her body while she was away. He grinned at her.

She shook her head. "I don't think that will be necessary, this shouldn't take long. Besides, the Spirits only know what he's doing on his own."

"Hopefully nothing too bad. Maybe he's just writing love poetry," Kai suggested.

"I think it's sweet, if he is," Jinora replied, and watched him take a very obvious mental note of that.

She shut her eyes, and concentrated.

Suddenly, she felt herself become weightless, and rose into the air; she saw her body below her, and looked at her hand, which was suddenly ethereal. She had turned out to have quite a talent for astral projection. She looked down at Kai, who waved one hand in front of her face. He looked up, saw her, and waved. She waved back, and then rose up further, through the roof of her cabin and then through the gasbag of the airship, up into the air. Below her, the city of Omashu stood in the evening air, a great shape punctuated by a hundred little lights. She looked at the palace, and wondered if she could visit Asami, but then decided she had better things to be doing.

She sent out her thoughts, and focussed on Avatar Korra. Nothing happened for a second, but then she felt a pull. She let it take her, and suddenly she was flying away, to the south. The Earth Kingdom flew by, villages passing quickly underneath her. She saw forests full of animals, roads crowded with people who did not look up as she passed, and terrain criss-crossed with railway lines. Those were new, recently built by Kuvira in order to cement her control over the vast territory of the Kingdom. She saw trains loaded with what looked like weapons moving down them for a moment, and then she was gone, leaving the railways far behind her.

The terrain began to get more inhospitable, wide plains and rolling hills giving way to deeper and denser forests and wide rivers that rolled quickly past an enormous tree that stood in the middle. Jinora realized where she was, but before she could dwell on it she was pulled again, down into the forest, towards a fire that roared in the middle of a clearing. Two figures sat around it, one old and one young, both wearing green. Jinora did not recognise the older woman, but the younger one gasped and looked up-straight at Jinora. The two made eye contact for a moment, and the airbender immediately recognised her.

Then, her vision flashed purple. A sudden wave of intense pain came over her, and she yelped in sudden agony as she was yanked away, far from the two women in the forest, all the way back to Omashu. Jinora had never felt anything like it, but then she heard shouting and snapped back into her own body.

She came to with Kai, Ikki and Meelo looking down at her. She groaned and looked down to see that she was no longer sitting up with her legs crossed but had collapsed so she was lying down on her bed.

"Jinora! Are you alright? You were projecting and then we heard you yell and we were worried-" Kai began.

"I know where Korra is," Jinora cut him off.

"Really?" Ikki was on the surface her usual upbeat self, but she still sounded worried. "It worked then?"

"It worked," Jinora confirmed. "Korra is in the Foggy Swamp."
