(A/N): Hey Guys! So, I got back from camp two days, but I spent most of the time since, well... sleeping. Sixteen hours there, sixteen hours back, we arrived at seven a.m friday morning and as soon as I got home I passed out on the couch. Anyway, I wrote this chapter while in Canberra, so I hope you like it. I didn't get a lot of opportunity to write- or sleep!- while there because I was the only one in my dorm without a reading/writing lamp above their bed.
Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognise.
Elaine
I woke up in a panic as my brother opened my bedroom door, but when I went to look at Leo I was both startled and disappointed to find- well, nothing.
Leo was gone.
He had left I don't know when, without even waking me up.
"You know, you shouldn't leave the window open Izzy." My brother scolded gently, and upon turning, I realised that the window was indeed open.
"I won't do it again." I mumbled quietly, and Jay hesitated for a second before nodding and leaving the room.
"You have the same eyes." A voice piped up, and I whirled, finding the door to my closet now wide open, and framing Leo.
"I thought you'd left." I muttered, and he shrugged, the bed dipping as he took a seat beside me.
"I don't really want to go home just yet." His eyes met mine, and I could see tears threatening to fall- again.
"You're going to have to go home eventually, Leo." He sighed quietly, avoiding my eyes again.
"I know that..." He murmured, and as I brushed the hair out of his eyes I saw the fourteen year old boy he was for the first time.
"What's going on Leo?" He remained silent for a while.
"It's my birthday tomorrow." I blinked in surprise, grinning.
"Are you scared of getting old, Leo? Is that it?" He stayed emotionally blank for a minute before he looked at me sideways, flashing a small smile.
"Yeah, that's it." The smile fell. "Elaine..." His tone automatically caught my attention.
"What?" I blurted, watching him bite his lips.
"There'll come a time- I mean, there might- because I'm a half-vampire I could-" I had to laugh, bumping his shoulder with mine.
"Just spit it out Leo." He frowned for a second before taking a deep breath.
"Elaine, I'm not afraid of growing old. My greatest fear is that I'll hit a point where- where I stop aging at all." He watched my reaction carefully.
"Leo, I can't say that I'll be able to stop this, because no one can. But I promise to help you whatever way I-" He cut me off, gripping my hand tightly.
"Promise me. Elaine, promise me. If that does happen, I need you to kill me."
