When PJ showed up he saw what happened to the front door and walk in side "Maggie, Rose"
when he saw them both on the floor he got onto the radio to VKC for two ambulance and got them to call for backup when he said
"Two offices down at the address"
"Maggie, my god what happen to you" when he saw her face.
"PJ" she said as she opened her eyes slowly
"what happened?"
"Sargent Rice, he mad man"
"did he do this"
"Yes, rose, how is she"
"she alive. What provoke him to do this"
"He won't take no for an answer, she told him to go away, that made him more anger." She screw her face up in pain and PJ could tell she was having problems breathing
"It ok Maggie, i'll look after you" he could hear the ambulance and police show up just as her eyes close

"In here" Wayne walk into the living room to see Rose and Maggie on the floor covered in bruises.
"What the hell happen" PJ stood up and stood back while the paramedic attend to them
"Sarget Jeff Rice"

"He did this to Rose and Maggie"

"He doesn't like being told to piss off and no, it made him angry and this what happens."
"He seems to be a great guy"
"Yeah a great guy who doesn't take no for an answer from any woman, if you do, this what happens to them" he look at Maggie

"no need" they turn to see Tom there.
"What happen" Tom asked as he walk in and see Maggie and Rose faces black and blue
"Maggie called me, she said sargent Rice saluted Rose and damage to the house"
"the front door, but why?"
"It ovest that Rose wouldn't let him in and told him to go away, it made him angeryer and bust the door and asualed Rose and maggie saw the whole thing, he must of beat her up after she called you boss"
"no it wasn't Maggie, it was Joan McBeth from next door who called me when she heard the yelling and screaming. She met Rose few times and knew she was a cop and she told me saw Maggie show up and a man did he was yelling at Rose to open the door and he was pounding on it then she heard a crash, that when she called me"
"One of us better call elle" PJ said
"I'll do it" he look for a phone and use the one in the bedroom "tim sorry for waking you up, it Tom… can you come down to Rose Egan place… there damage done to the front door… PJ here he will explain when you get here… ok who… yeah i know him… Tell her Rose and Maggie was assaulted tonight… elle sorry about calling… yeah it was him… ok, sure" then he hung up and turn around
"Tim calling of of the carpenters and get him here to see the damage, i know the guy"
"and Elle"
"She said to keep her up to date"
The next morning when Elle walk into the station she saw Nick there "Morning Nick"
"Morning elle are you ok"
"Where is everyone"
"Rice is in PJ office, cooper day off and no one else here" She sat down in her chair
"nick come here" he wheel his chair over to her

"no one told about last night"

"Sargent Rice put Maggie and Rose into hospital. PJ called, he been there all night"
"what what happened?" he asked in shock
"He found out from big mouth cooper where Rose live, he show up and broke the front door down, he beat the crap out of Rose and Maggie. Maggie manage to call PJ who showed up and call for backup and amberlances"
"you joking, i saw Rice walk in smiling and said hi to me like he always does, i had no idea what a scumbag, how bad are they"
"Broke and crack Ribs. Rose been in surgery for internal bleeding, broken and cracked ribs and fractured skull and bleeding on the brain for head wound. Maggie got punched lunge fracture jaw. PJ said she a mess. Rice did a number on them both"
"Does the boss know"
"Oh yeah he call Tim last night to let him know about the damage door and I spoke to him briefly, Inspector Falkner" Nick turned around and stood up and walked up to the counter.
"Where sargent Croydon"
"Hospital with PJ. Wayne still at the crime seen with a carpenter fixing the damage done to the door. Their photos taken for evidence." elle said
"And where the other constable"
"Day off sir"
"Well call him in since your two members down. Now where is sargent Rice"
"in PJ office acting like nothing happen" elle said
"Right" he walk around the counter and over to PJ door and open it

"inspector Falkner this is a surprise sir" he said smiling.
"I want you to come out here" he walk out to where Elle and Nick is.
"Ok what going on"
"Sargent Jeff Rice you are under arrest and charge for breaking and entering a police officer house, assault on contactable Magiie doyal and senior constable Rose Egan. Senior constable Schulz place the sergeant in the cells"
"Yes sir, ok Sargent i'll need you to empty out your pockets and remove your belt and shoes laces"
"what this a joke"
"It no joke mate" nick said in an angry tone.
He turned to elle "Tom call my place last night, he told Tim and Me about what happen and PJ call me this morning and told me how bad there injures are. You call yourself a copper and yet you beat the shit out of women out of police officers, you think your tough by doing what you have been doing. Well you wrong, cops don't need wife, women bashers on the force" then the phone rang so she answer it
"Hello Mount thomas police… yes boss… yes inspector falkner is here… yes he been charged… I see thank you for calling… any word on Maggie… this is good news, i'll tell him… sure" then she hug up and turn around
"Inspector you can add murder to the sargent list. Rose Egan died fifteen minutes ago from a seizure from the results of her head wound" Then she turn around and pick up the phone and call Adam Cooper
"Adam it elle, you better come in… your leave been canceled… it will be explained when you get here… Adam, one office dead and another is in hospital is that good enough reason or do you want to tell inspector fawkner who is here the reason why you not coming in when we two members down… just get here" then she hung up.
Nick took care of Jeff rice while the inspector was using Tom office to make number of calls. When Adam walk into the station "I had plans today Elle"
"Adam you stop right there and stop bloody complaining you hear me"
"you said one dead and one in hospital"
"Rose died this morning after being beaten up last night at her place"
"what Rose dead, who did it" He said in shocked.
"sargent Jeff Rice"
"He seems to be a nice block"

"Maggie, she called PJ at Rose house, she is in hospital in a bad way. PJ and Tom are there with her"

PJ was sitting next to Maggie bed when she woke up "Hey" PJ said
"I try to protect myself, and Rose. He dangest PJ"
"We know, he been charged"
"how Rose" PJ pick up her hand with his and brought it up to his lips. She could see it was in a cast. He move one hand to her bruised and swollen face.
"Rose died this morning Maggie"
"what, how"
"she had a seizure which was resulted from the blows to her head" she started to cry
"I remember him hitting her over and over when I went to stop him, he then turned on me when i was on the ground winded, he returned back to Rose hitting her till she was on the ground then he kick her over and over again even though she was unconscious. I manage to get up and tackle him to the ground then he punches me and that was the last thing I remember till i saw you hovering over me"
"I got there fast as i could Maggie, i would of been faster if i was at your place and you told me what was going on"

"Shh it ok, we all learn by our mistakes"

"I called Pat he going to get emergency leave so he can get up here soon as he can"

"I love you to" he move so he could kiss her forehead then look down and kiss her lips gently
"Get some rest, i'm not going anywhere"
"OK" she closed her eyes and feel asleep
"How long PJ" he looked up to see Tom in the doorway.
"Boss" he walk in
"how long have you and doyle been together"
"Since she move into her house. We try not to let it affect our work"

"no, but if he does find out he would threaten me he sees Maggie as his little girl"

"will do" tom walk out of Maggie room and back to the station after a long night and day it has been.
Elle walk back to her desk when two men in suites walk into the station. She walks up to the counter "Can I help you sirs"
"Yes I'm senior detective Paul McDonland and this is detective Ron Shepard from hommerside, i need to talk to whoever is in charge"
"first of all ID please cause i don't know you two from a bar of soap and you could be reporters" they show her there ID
"Sargent Tom Cordon is in charge of this station but at present he at the hospital, But inspector Farkner is here if you want to talk to him"
"that would be fine and you are"
"Mrs Elle Cole" she open the gate for them then knock on the door and open it
"Homicide detective Ron Sherpard and senior detective Paul McDonald are here from Melbourne"
"Show them in Elle"
"Yes sir" then she opened the door wider and let them in
"Excuse me detetives, have you book a room yet"
"No we came straight here" Paul said
"Ok I'll call the imperial and make a booking for your both"

"would you like a coffee"
"Yes thanks, white with one" Paul said
"Same but two"
"Ok sir would you like tea"
"Yes thank you elle, get Adam to make it while you sit down"
"no way, last time he made the boss coffee he could almost leave the spoon standing in it and he gave the boss and couple others guts ache from it. I'll make it, it safer that way" she closes the door while the two detectives sat down.
"Looks like she ready to drop" Ron said
"In seven weeks, this is her last week then maternity leave"
"Is she carrying twins or triplets" Paul asked
"Twins"
"cole that name sounds formula" Ron said
"Her father in law and women was chage for the attempted murder of her husband tim last year. She thought that her husband had died while sailing with three men they try to kill him"
"that right, he went into witness protection for a number of years"

"she must have been shocked to see him alive and well"
"It would be for any couple. Now with this murder case" they talk till Elle walk in with tray in hand. She put it on the desk.
"Elle why is there four cups"
"boss is back"
"ok thanks" she walked out the door
"Boss how Maggie"
"she won't be back to work for a couple of months"
"does she know about Rose"
"PJ told her, she has taken it hard"

"Yeah" he walked into his office closing the door behind him.
Elle sat down and relax for a minute then answer the phone when he rang.
